WHAT DOES EXODUS 16:28-30 TRULY MEAN?Does Exodus 16:28-30 mean that God gave the weekly Sabbath to all of mankind BEFORE the Law of Moses? Let us read these two verses of Scripture out of their context first with some emphasis and comments made by Sabbath-keeping Christians added and then we will read them being left in their context to learn their truly sound Biblical meaning in the light of the whole word of Almighty God. Exodus 16:28-30. “And the LORD said unto Moses, How long REFUSE you to KEEP my commandments and my laws? (Now, the Seventh Day Adventist Church which I will abbreviate as SDA Church and SDA Christians throughout the remainder of this study in God’s word and all other seventh day of the week Sabbath-keeping church denominations as well, “interpret” this verse to mean that the commandments and the laws of God had to have been already given to ALL PEOPLE before the Law of Moses. And, therefore, to THEM, speaking of ALL seventh DAY of the week Sabbath-keeping Christians, God gave the commandment of keeping the weekly Sabbath to Adam and Eve at creation week. In other words, that is how they INTERPRET these two verses of Scripture in Exodus 16:28,29) 29. SEE, for that the LORD HAS GIVEN you the Sabbath, therefore, he gives you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide you every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day. 30. So the PEOPLE rested on the SEVENTH day.” So then, is the INTERPRETATION that is concluded by all Sabbath-keeping churches which they say means that God gave the weekly Sabbath day to be kept by all people beginning with Adam and Eve at creation week sound Biblical teaching? Or do these verses of Scripture mean something entirely different? In other words, if these verses of Scripture do NOT mean that God instituted the KEEPING of the weekly Sabbath day to REST upon at creation week for all people to keep, then what do these verses truly mean in the light of the whole word of Almighty God? First of all, let us read these same three verses of Scripture again with emphasis on different words and phrases along with different comments, and then, we will read the whole CONTEXT by reading the entire chapter 16 of Exodus so that you can clearly see the TRUE sound Biblical meaning of these verses of Scripture. And while you read these three verses again, I want you to consider that God is GIVING the children of Israel the commandment to rest on the seventh DAY for the very FIRST time. Exodus 16:28-30. “And the LORD said unto Moses, (So clearly, Yahweh is speaking to Moses concerning the children of Israel saying) How long will you refuse to keep my commandments and my laws? (What commandments and what laws? Does Almighty God Himself INTEND His words to mean the TEN Commandments that the children of Israel were SUPPOSEDLY given to keep by Adam handing them down from generation to generation orally, but they kept on refusing to keep the TEN Commandments? Or does Almighty God INTEND His words to mean something completely different? And if God did NOT give His “TEN Commandments” to ALL humans beginning with Adam at creation week, then what do these verses of Scripture truly mean? When we read the WHOLE CONTEXT, then you will see clearly that Yahweh is TEACHING the children of Israel concerning HOW to rest on the seventh day for the very FIRST time by teaching them ONE step at a time, or by giving them one ORDINANCE at a time for them to obey. In other words, in each STEP of the several different STEPS of teaching them HOW to rest on the seventh day, God gives the children of Israel one commandment or one ordinance of the one commandment of the Sabbath in order in EACH STEP in order to TEST the children of Israel to see if they will obey all His commandments and laws. I will explain what I mean by this in more detail in a moment as we read the entire chapter. For now, please know and understand that God is speaking to Moses who then speaks ONLY to the children of Israel step by step concerning what ORDINANCE to OBEY in each step. An ordinance is the INSTRUCTION of what to do in each step as to how to keep each commandment of each step of LEARNING HOW to REST on the seventh day) 29. SEE, (The Hebrew word translated as see also means to PERCEIVE, to DISCERN, to mark and to consider) for that (Or BECAUSE) the LORD has given you the SABBATH, (The word Sabbath itself means intermission and it comes from a Hebrew word that means repose, cease, take away, rest, and celebrate. In other words, God gave the keeping of the Sabbath as a SIGN to the children of Israel for THEM to keep through THEIR generations to SEE, as in, to OBSERVE or to DISCERN and perceive that they are to cease from the works of the law by RESTING in their Messiah, Jesus as their TRUE Sabbath rest) THEREFORE, (Or for this very REASON to DISCERN the REST) He gives you on the sixth day the bread of two days; (The word THEREFORE means for this very reason that Yahweh has given you the Sabbath to DISCERN the MEANING of the TWO DAYS of BREAD. Notice that it does not say that the Lord has given you six days to work, but rather, it says that Yahweh gave the children of Israel TWO DAYS of BREAD to eat so that they could discern WHY the Lord was giving them the Sabbath. What bread? The MANNA that God Himself rained down from heaven. The manna is a figure or a SHADOW that points to Jesus as the TRUE BREAD that God gave from heaven. The word bread symbolizes teaching or doctrine and the TWO days are a figure of the two 1000 year long days of the church age in this present world that the TRUE Gospel is given to understand that Jesus IS the Messiah that is prophesied in the Scripture And if the Jews or the children of Israel partake of the GOSPEL, the bread that brings eternal life anytime DURING the TWO 1000 years long days of the church age THEN they will be allowed to ENTER into the REST that remains on ANOTHER DAY. But if they do NOT believe the true gospel in this present world, then they will WORK during the 1000 year reign of Jesus and NOT have REST from the second death) abide you every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day. (This is symbolically referring to the future 1000 year long day of the world to come which is Israel’s last chance to be saved. You see, on the sixth day or more precisely, at the very end of the sixth 1000 year long day of this present world God will turn a SECOND time to deliver a REMNANT of the children of Israel who keeps REFUSING to keep the SIGN of Yahweh’s law and commandments pointing to Jesus as their Messiah to be found in Jesus and to REMAIN in him during this present world. In other words, God has prophesied to give the seventh day to the children of Israel which is a shadow or figure of the 1000 year long day of Yahweh’s Sabbath REST in the world yet to come as their second chance so to speak to accept Jesus as their Messiah. The TRUE seventh 1000 year long DAY of the Lord is when God will be FINISHING His work that He started at creation week some SIX thousand years ago. Now, by second chance to be saved I do NOT mean that if a Jew REJECTS Jesus in this present world and they die that they will be resurrected and given another chance to accept Jesus in the world to come. But rather, I am saying, that ONLY the REMNANT of Jews that are LIVING at the time of the second coming will be saved alive in the MORTAL bodies to go into the seventh day of Yahweh to be TAUGHT about Jesus so that they can be saved during the 1000 year reign of Jesus. The literal meaning of this phrase to abide in his place means sit UNDER him speaking of sit under the teaching of Jesus IN the Seventh day. In Genesis 2:1-3 is a prophecy of God resting IN the seventh day in the future. You see, God started His creation of man but God is not yet FINISHED creating us. God is still WORKING on us to be conformed in the image of His dear Son. The LITERAL translation of Genesis 2:1-3 teaches us that God is FINISHING His work in, or, or DURING the Seventh day. Yes, God ceased from His work which He already did on the first SIX days and He is FINISHING His work in, on, or during the seventh day, which is a PROPHECY of the 1000 year long day of Yahweh's Sabbath rest in the world yet to come. So the prophetic meaning of let no man go out of his place on the seventh day is God desires all of Israel to accept Jesus as their Messiah and remain in Jesus to be saved and receive eternal life on the seventh 1000 year long day of the Lord in the world to come) 30. So the people (The “people” here in this verse is speaking of the children of Israel who LEARNED how to rest on the LITERAL seventh day of the week in Exodus chapter 16 for the very first time. But again, it is symbolically or prophetically speaking of people, both Jews and Gentiles resting in Jesus as their Messiah during the TRUE 1000 year long seventh day in the world to come. So the people) rested on the seventh day.” The Sabbath day was given as a SIGN. And we know that all the SIGNS in the Old Testament point to Jesus. Jonah was a SIGN pointing to Jesus. The feast of the Passover lamb was a SIGN pointing to Jesus as the TRUE Passover Lamb. So what is the obvious choice of the SIGN of the weekly Sabbath day pointing to? I myself believe that the SIGN of the weekly Sabbath is pointing to Jesus as the Messiah. Now, after reading two entirely different “INTERPRETATIONS” of Exodus 16:28-30 let us now TEST to see which interpretation is SOUND Biblical teaching and which interpretation is TWISTING the Scripture to fit one’s own personal interpretation to try and support their own man-made church doctrine. And the way that we test any interpretation of Scripture is to first keep the verses in question IN their CONTEXT. And then, we COMPARE Scripture with Scripture to make absolutely sure that the interpretation we conclude does NOT contradict any other verse of Scripture in the entire Bible. In other words, whatever anyone claims that a passage of Scripture means then that interpretation must AGREE with every other verse of Scripture in the entire Bible, both the Old Testament and the New Testament. Also, please know and understand that we are to interpret the Old Testament in the LIGHT of the New Testament. With that being said, let us now read chapter 16 of Exodus. Again, I will add emphasis and comments so show you the hidden prophetic meanings of what these verses symbolize in the future. Keep in mind that the Sabbath was given to the children of Israel as a SIGN pointing to God’s yet future Messiah which we, as Christians, know is Jesus. In other words, the “law” of keeping the Sabbath and all the other ceremonial Law of God contained in ordinances was a SCHOOLMASTER leading Israel to Jesus as their Messiah, according to Galatians 3:23-25 which you can read on your own. There are no prophecies hidden in the MORAL Law of God. It is only the law of the commandments contained in ORDINANCES that have prophecies pointing to Jesus hidden in them and that is why the law that is the schoolmaster is referring to the Law of Moses contained in ordinances. In other words, NONE of the MORAL laws of God were nailed to the cross. Most Christians know and understand that we must obey the MORAL laws of God that Moses wrote down because they are REPEATED in the New Testament. So when Paul says we are not under the law he is NOT saying that we are not under the MORAL law of God, but rather, Paul is saying that we are not under the Law of Moses contained in ordinances. So then, it is ONLY the law of commandments contained in ORDINANCES that was nailed to the cross and abolished, according to Ephesians 2:15 and Colossians 13-17 which you can also read on your own and in the studies called Dd-3. What COLOSSIANS 2:14-17 TRULY MEAN?, and Dd-4. What does EPHESIANS 2:8-15 TRULY MEAN? But for now, let us continue this study to learn the true sound Biblical meaning of Exodus 16:28-30 by reading the entire CONTEXT in chapter 16. Here is Exodus 16:1-36. “And they took their journey from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came unto the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month AFTER their departing out of the land of Egypt. (So then, the context is speaking about the children of Israel AFTER God delivered them out of bondage in the land of Egypt. It is the PEOPLE of Israel that is being referred to in this entire passage of Scripture and not the entire human race beginning with Adam and Eve at creation week) 2. And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness: 3. And the children of Israel said unto them, Would to God we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh pots, and when we did eat bread to the full; for you have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger. 4. Then said the LORD unto Moses, (Notice that Yahweh is speaking to Moses concerning what Yahweh will do shortly for the children of Israel and not something that God did at creation week) Behold, I WILL rain (Or I SHALL make it rain) bread from heaven for you; (This had never happened before in the entire history of the human race from Adam to this time that the children of Israel were in the wilderness AFTER God delivered them by His HAND out of bondage in the land of Egypt. God delivering Israel out of BONDAGE in the land of Egypt is symbolically prophesying God delivering all people from the bondage of SIN at the CROSS. Please notice that God is giving one law which will become the fourth commandment in Exodus chapter 20. Also, notice that God gave one commandment or one ORDINANCE at a time, step by step, TEACHING the children of Israel about the Sabbath day for the FIRST time) and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate EVERY day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no. (So in step one, God gives His law and commandment to the children of Israel to go out every day of the week, seventh days a week and gather the manna or bread from heaven at a certain RATE in order for God to SEE IF they would obey all His LAWS. The Hebrew word translated as law here carries the meaning of PARCELING out God’s commandments, and to parcel out something means to do something one step at a time. So the first STEP of God’s law is the ONE commandment for the children of Israel to gather the bread every single day of the week, seven days a week at a certain rate to see if they will obey this one commandment. Then God continues to tell Moses what He will also do after God's test in step one to see if they will obey step one first) 5. And it SHALL come to pass, (After Yahweh sees whether or not the children of Israel will obey step one of His law) that on the sixth day they shall prepare that which they bring in; and it shall be twice as much as they gather DAILY. (Now some of you who are Sabbath-keeping Christians may argue that I am twisting the Scriptures to fit my own belief. But I assure you that as we continue to read the whole CONTEXT you will clearly see that in step one Israel gathered the bread for SEVEN days a week at first and THEN it came to pass way down in verses 22 and 23 that God added yet the fourth step to His one law of teaching the children of Israel for the first time how to rest on the seventh day. In other words, the children of Israel LEARNED to obey the first three steps by disobeying God and being rebuked by Moses. And then God adds yet another step down in verses 22 and 23 which is for the children of Israel to CHANGE from gathering bread seven days a week to now gather bread only six days a week to see if they will obey Him) 6. And Moses and Aaron said unto all the children of Israel, At even, then you shall know that the LORD has brought you out from the land of Egypt: (God wants the children of Israel to DISCERN the true meaning of WHY He gave the Sabbath rest on the seventh day. Moses is a figure of Jesus and Aaron is a figure of the church, the body of Christ. And the evening of the SIXTH day is a figure of the end of the sixth 1000 year day of this present world right before Jesus comes as a thief in the night to execute the WRATH of God. And Yahweh bringing the children of Israel out of bondage in the land of Egypt is a figure of God delivering the remnant of Israel in the MORNING of the Seventh day or just before the beginning of the seventh 1000 year long day of the millennial reign of Jesus during the world to come. That is when Israel will SEE Jesus coming in the clouds of GLORY to deliver them. That is when God will hear their cries for help and save them alive in their mortal bodies to go into the SEVENTH day of Yahweh's REST. Not their rest but Yahweh's Sabbath rest while Jesus rules FOR Yahweh in the NAME OF Yahweh as the Lord of the SABBATH. That is what Jesus meant when he said that man was not made for the Sabbath but the Sabbath was made FOR man. The Sabbath is the LORD's Sabbath rest and we can rest with Yahweh by our faith in Jesus as our Savior. Jesus said come unto me and I will give you REST. And only the faithful Christians who endure unto the end shall enter into REST during the 1000 year reign of Jesus. The unsaved Jews who are alive at the coming of Jesus will go into the seventh day, but they will not be RESTING. They will go into the seventh day to sit under Jesus to learn the TRUE Gospel of Jesus Christ so that they can be saved) 7. And in the morning, then you shall see the glory of the LORD; (Or at the starting of the seventh 1000 year long day of Yahweh's Sabbath rest the unsaved Jews will SEE Jesus coming in clouds of glory and recognize him as their Messiah but they will not be raptured with the church) for that He hears your murmurings against the LORD: and what are we, that you murmur against us? (The Jews speak against Jesus and the church which again are symbolized by Moses and Aaron) 8. And Moses said, This shall be, WHEN the LORD shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; (This symbolizes the body of Jesus for flesh to eat in the evening of his DEATH. And bread in the morning symbolizes the teachings of Jesus in the NEW Covenant that was established on the MORNING that God resurrected Jesus from the dead and gave him the FULLNESS of His divine nature to dwell in Jesus) for that the LORD hears your murmurings which you murmur against him: and what are we? (Or what do I, Moses and my BROTHER Aaron SYMBOLIZE?) your murmurings are not against us, but against the LORD. (Or by your speaking against Jesus and his BRETHREN, the church, you Jews are speaking against Yahweh. Again, the flesh in the evening symbolizes the true gospel of Jesus being preached to the Jews at the ending of the sixth day, as in, the sixth 1000 year long day from creation right before the coming of Jesus. And the bread to the full in the morning is the true gospel that will be expounded to the unsaved Jesus during the seventh day of Yahweh's Sabbath rest in the world yet to come) 9. And Moses spoke unto Aaron, Say unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, Come near before the LORD: for he has heard your murmurings. (Moses telling Aaron what to say symbolizes Jesus committing the preaching of the gospel to his BRETHREN, the church. And at the end of this present world the church will preach the true gospel to Israel to call upon Jesus as their messiah and Yahweh will deliver them. SOME will answer the call of the gospel in this present world just in the nick of time so to speak to become new creatures created in Jesus Christ. But many will still not believe as yet. However, after a little WRATH of God and SEEING the Gentiles raptured up to meet Jesus in the air, the remnant of the Jews will recognize Jesus as their Savior and call upon the name of the Lord. It will be too late for them to be raptured and receive eternal life but God will save them alive in the mortal bodies to eat the TRUE BREAD from heaven in the world to come, the SEVENTH DAY) 10. And it came to pass, as Aaron (Symbolically representing the church, the brethren of Jesus) spake unto the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, (Which represents trial and testing) and, behold, the glory of the LORD appeared in the cloud. (Symbolizing Jesus coming in clouds of GLORY at the end of this present world right before the seventh 1000 year long day of Yahweh’s rest when Jesus will rule as the Lord of the SABBATH) 11. And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying, (Symbolically representing Jesus at his first coming putting His words in the mouth of His prophet Jesus to speak to us. But the core of the symbolical meaning is about Israel recognizing Jesus as the Messiah at the end of this present world to be saved alive in their mortal bodies to be taught of the Lord during the SEVENTH 1000 year long day of Yahweh’s REST or the LORD’s SABBATH) 12. I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, At even you shall eat flesh, (Symbolically referring to the receiving Jesus as their Lord and Savior when the Messiah came. The flesh represents Jesus being SLAIN on the cross and the eating of the flesh of Jesus is eating the true gospel, as in, receiving the gospel and BELIEVING that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God who was slain on the cross for the sins of the world, to the Jews FIRST and then to the Gentiles) and in the morning you shall be filled with bread; (Symbolically referring to the TRUE bread from heaven which is the doctrine or the TEACHINGS of Jesus under the New Covenant written in the New Testament which the unsaved Jews will be taught in the seventh day of Yahweh's Sabbath rest) and you shall know that I am the LORD your God. (The whole Bible is all about KNOWING that Jesus is the Messiah that Yahweh Himself raised up from among the people of the children of Israel who God renamed Jacob with the name Israel. This is how Yahweh chose to deliver the children of Israel and more specifically the children of Abraham) 13. And it came to pass, that at evening the quails came up, and covered the camp: and in the morning the dew lay round about the host. 14. And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a small round thing, as small as the hoar frost on the ground. 15. And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they did not know what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the LORD has given you to eat. (Again, the manna, the bread from Yahweh from heaven is a figure of the TRUE BREAD that Yahweh gave from heaven which is the TEACHING that Yahweh put in the mouth of Jesus to teach to the children of Israel. They called the bread that rained down from heaven Manna because they did not know what it was. And when the Jew first saw Jesus they did not know what to think of him. Remember that the gospel of salvation was given only to the Jews FIRST and then God turned the gospel to the Gentiles to provoke the Jews to jealousy because most of them rejected Jesus as their Messiah. And thus, they remained dead in their sins because they continued in the Law of Moses. Now, in the next verse, God gave Moses another commandment or instruction to add to the first step in teaching the children of Israel how to OBSERVE or DISCERN the Sabbath to REST on the seventh day) 16. This is the thing which the LORD has commanded, Gather of it every man according to his eating, an omer for every man, according to the number of your persons; take you every man for them which are in his tents. 17. And the children of Israel did so, and gathered, some more, some less. (Meaning that some disobeyed this second instruction by gathering too much while others disobeyed by gathering too little) 18. And WHEN (And or but WHEN they obeyed and) they DID mete it with an omer, (Again, when they DID obey this next step or this added commandment to only gather as much manna as each person could eat then) he that gathered much had nothing over, and he that gathered little had no lack; they gathered every man according to his eating. (Speaking of only those who obeyed both the first and the second step of this law of the Sabbath. Then God instructed Moses to move on to step three and add the next commandment or instruction) 19. And Moses said, Let no man leave of it till the morning. 20. Notwithstanding they hearkened NOT unto Moses; but some of them left of it until the morning, and it bred worms, and stank: and Moses was wroth with them. (And he chewed their heads off so to speak to CORRECT them to obey God to do it the right way next time) 21. And they gathered it EVERY morning, (Again, speaking of the children of Israel gathering manna seven days a week every morning) every man according to his eating: and when the sun waxed hot, it melted. 22. And it came to pass, that on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one man: and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses. (Now, this can mean that they simply reported back to Moses that the people obeyed and did as they were told. OR this can mean that the children of Israel were complaining again and told Moses boldly to his face announcing, what is the purpose of gathering TWICE as much when we know that half of it will breed worms and be no good to eat. We have already learned that we must only gather so much each and every day of the week and NOT leave any of it over until morning lest it breeds worms and is not fit to eat. And now you are changing what you said earlier to gather MORE than we can eat in one day! So what is the point in gathering TWICE as much on the sixth day when we know that half of it will breed worms and ruin and we will have to go out on the seventh day and gather it AGAIN?) 23. And he said unto them, This is that which the LORD has said, To morrow is the rest of the holy sabbath unto the LORD: (This is the very FIRST time that the word Sabbath is found in the Bible. And anyone with eyes to see and ears to hear can clearly see that the children of Israel are being TAUGHT for the very FIRST time how to REST on the seventh day ONE step at a time to see if they would obey each step before God added the next step) bake that which you will bake to day, and seethe that you will seethe; and that which remains over lay up for you to be kept until the morning. (The children of Israel already learned in the previous step that if any of the manna remained until morning that it would breed worms and not be fit to eat. So to me, they were telling or MURMURING to Moses that they did not understand why God would command them to gather manna every day of the week and only gather as much that could be eaten by each person and then CHANGE what He commanded them? In other words, after they learned to obey one way to NOT let any remain until morning by first disobeying that commandment that they were told to NOT leave any over till morning, they soon found out why. They LEARNED that it would breed worms and not be any good to eat. And now, God is CHANGING what He previously commanded us to do to now keep half of the manna for the next day. Come on Moses, that makes no sense to us. But they went ahead and obeyed Moses after he TAUGHT them that TOMORROW is the REST of the holy Sabbath unto Yahweh) 24. And they laid it up till the morning, as Moses bade: and it did not stink, neither was there any worm therein. (You can imagine how surprised they may have been. I mean after seeing how the manna bread worms when they disobeyed and kept some until morning, they were probably expecting the manna to be full of worms and not fit to eat. But now they have learned a new thing which is that the manna left OVER no longer breed worms and stank like it did before. BUT they do not understand WHY as yet. And as you will soon see, they DISOBEYED yet another commandment of God related to the instructions that God is giving them during their TRAINING period on how to TRUST God to REST on the seventh day and NOT go out and gather manna on the seventh day. You see, they had been gathering manna seven days a week and there was always manna on the ground every morning seven days a week. But what they did NOT know at this time that God was making a CHANGE in His law of gathering manna to SEE if the children of Israel would obey all His laws and commandments) 25. And Moses said, Eat that today; for today is a Sabbath unto the LORD: today you shall not find it in the field. (In other words, Moses is WARNING them to obey Yahweh and do as He has instructed them to do. Moses is WARNING them that on the seventh day there will no longer be any manna on the ground for them to gather like there was before God changed His instructions to now gather manna for only six days a week and on the sixth day gather twice as much so that you can REST on the seventh day which is the Sabbath unto Yahweh) 26. Six days you shall gather it; but on the seventh day, which is the Sabbath, in it there shall be none. (Some of the children of Israel did not believe God’s commandment to gather TWICE as much bread on the sixth day and that there would no longer be any bread on the seventh day. For you see, ever since the manna began to fall from heaven there had always been manna on the ground every morning SEVEN days a week, EVERY week. I mean why do you think that some of the children of Israel DISOBEYED God by going out on the SEVENTH day to gather manna if so be that there was never any manna on the ground on the seventh day?) 27. And it came to pass, that there went out some of the people on the seventh day for to gather, and they found none. (Surprise, surprise, no more manna to be found on the seventh day like there had been every week since the manna first began to fall like rain from heaven. Can you not see that God had given the children of Israel commandment after commandment each step of the way, week after week, on how to gather manna to SEE if they would obey all His laws and commandments, And yet some of them kept on breaking each of those commandments in each step of LEARNING how to REST on Yahweh’s Sabbath. And THOSE were the COMMANDMENTS that the children of Israel kept breaking in Exodus 16:28-30 and NOT the TEN Commandments. Again, Yahweh’s Sabbath is also a figure of the seventh 1000 year long day of Yahweh’s rest in the world to come. For you see, Jesus will rule FOR Yahweh as the Lord of the Sabbath while Yahweh RESTS by committing the ruling of the earth over to His now glorified Son, Jesus whom He MADE Lord after the cross, according to Acts 2:36. God wants Israel to OBSERVE or DISCERN the REASON for why the weekly Sabbath was given to the children of Israel in the first place. The weekly Sabbath day was given to the children of Israel as a SIGN pointing to Jesus as their Messiah who would shed his blood to establish God's New Covenant that Yahweh promised to give to them) 28. And the LORD said unto Moses, How long refuse you to keep my commandments and my laws? (Again, this is referring to the commandments or the instructions in each STEP of TEACHING the children of Israel to obey His laws of the Sabbath in Exodus 16:1-27. And all those commandments contained in ORDINANCES or INSTRUCTIONS of what to do on each step were SHADOWS pointing to Jesus. The first law of the Sabbath was to keep the weekly Sabbath DAY as a SIGN of the yet coming New Covenant that would be a PERPETUAL covenant. That is what God wants the children of Israel to SEE or to discern as to WHY He gave them the weekly Sabbath DAY to rest upon. The second law of the Sabbath is to recognize Jesus as the TRUE Sabbath rest. And the third law of the Sabbath is to be found faithful to rest during the 1000 year long Sabbath day of Yahweh in the world yet to come) 29. SEE, (Or CONSIDER, PERCEIVE, and DISCERN the TRUE meaning of why God gave the children of Israel the weekly Sabbath day for THEM to keep throughout THEIR generations as a SIGN) for that the LORD has given you the sabbath, THEREFORE, (Or for this very reason) He gives you on the sixth day the bread of TWO days; (The TWO days spiritually represent the first two days of the last three days of God’s 7,000 year plan of salvation. Each day of the week represents 1000 years for each day. The seventh day is the 1000 year reign of Jesus in the world to come. The TWO days of BREAD represent the 2000 years of the preaching of the true gospel during the age of the church in this present world. ON the sixth day refers to the latter end of the sixth 1000 years day from creation which is where we are now, as in, the 3 1/2 years of the great tribulation is nigh or near at the door about ready to begin in our day. In other words, what took the church TWO days or TWO thousand years to learn? It is the TRUE Gospel that will be preached to the children of Israel at the very end of the sixth day or the end of the sixth 1000 year long day from creation. For you see, the man-made teaching of the doctrine of the Trinity contradicts the TRUE gospel of Jesus Christ) abide you every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day. 30. So the people rested on the seventh day. (Meaning the children of Israel rested on the seventh literal day of the week. And this also symbolizes that those who believe in Jesus will enter into rest on the seventh 1000 year long day of Yahweh and the second death will have no more power over the faithful Christians who are found worthy to receive eternal life in the world to come. And the REMNANT of Israel will be TAUGHT of the Lord during the 1000 year reign of Jesus and how to REST in Jesus as their TRUE Sabbath rest so that they who BELIEVE the TRUE gospel DURING or in the seventh day of Yahweh's Sabbath will be given eternal life at the END of the final seventh 1000 year long day of God's so great a salvation) 31. And the house of Israel called the (Aleph Tav Messiah Jesus) name thereof Manna: (Again, the Manna is a figure of the TRUE bread from heaven which God gave to Jesus to teach to his Apostles and his disciples to teach to us) and it was like coriander seed, white; and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey. 32. And Moses said, This is the THING which the LORD commands, Fill an omer of IT (Speaking of the Manna) to be kept for your generations; (Referring to the future generations of the children of Israel) that they may see the bread wherewith I have fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you forth from the land of Egypt. 33. And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a pot, and put an omer full of manna therein, and lay it up before the LORD, to be kept for your generations. 34. As the LORD commanded Moses, so Aaron laid it up before the Testimony, (Or as a WITNESS) to be kept. 35. And the children of Israel did eat manna forty years, until they came to a land inhabited; they did eat manna, until they came unto the borders of the land of Canaan. (Canaan is a figure for the world to come during the millennial reign of Jesus, the seventh 1000 year long day of Yahweh’s REST) 36. Now an omer is the tenth part of an ephah.” Remember that the children of Israel were not allowed to enter into the land of Canaan because of their UNBELIEF. And thus, only the children who were under the age of 21 at the time Israel did not obey God to go and TAKE the land, but rather, they sent out twelve scouts to spy the land to see whether or not they were able to take the land. And only Joshua and Caleb BELIEVED and brought back a good report saying we are able to take the land. But all the other ten scouts brought back an EVIL report saying that Israel was not able to take the land because they were like grasshoppers in the sight of the giants in the land of Canaan. So as a side lesson, the word “evil” in the Bible means to do something that God says not to do and also means to not do something that God says that they can do, but some say that they can NOT do it. In other words, the word “evil” also means to SAY things opposite of what God says in His word. For example, God promises to forgive us each and every time we confess our sins but if one says that they have sinned too much and God will no longer forgive them then they are bringing an EVIL report before God. Basically, they are calling God a liar in their UNBELIEF that God will no longer forgive them anymore. Now back to the study at hand. So then, it was only the children under the age of 21 when their parents were in unbelief who were allowed to enter into the land that flowed with milk and honey along with Joshua and Caleb because they BELIEVED God’s words. Caleb was from the tribe of Judah which represents the church. And Joshua means Yahweh saved. Joshua is the son of Nun which means perpetuity or perpetual. And Jesus is the first human to be given eternal life. And when we think of Jesus being the FIRST-FRUIT unto God and then the CHURCH being the next harvest of first-fruits then we can see the parallel of the faithful Christians of this present world ruling and reigning with Jesus in the world to come while the remnant of Israel are not found worthy to be given eternal life AT the coming of Jesus. So to me, the children of Israel coming to the BORDER of their promised land but NOT being allowed to enter because of their UNBELIEF is a figure of the REMNANT of Israel not being accounted worthy to be raptured with the church to be given eternal life because of THEIR UNBELIEF in Jesus as their Messiah during this present world. Please read Matthew 21:31b,32. “...Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God BEFORE you. (In other words, this symbolically means that the Gentiles who BELIEVE in Jesus as their Lord and Savior will receive eternal life BEFORE the unbelieving Jews at the end of this present world at the coming of Jesus. To say this another way, there is an unseen kingdom of God during this present world that only those who believe in Jesus as their Lord and Savior can enter and you have to already be saved in this present world in order to be given eternal life in the world to come. So the unseen kingdom is NOW during the church age in this present world and the SEEN kingdom is during the 1000 year reign of Jesus in the world yet to come) 32. For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and you believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots BELIEVED him: and you, when you had seen it, repented not afterward, that you might believe him.” And many if not all the disciples of John the Baptist later believed in Jesus as their Lord and Savior to enter into the kingdom, as in, the unseen kingdom of God, the kingdom that is WITHIN us who BELIEVE. And AT the second coming of Jesus the faithful Christians in the church will receive eternal life before the remnant of Jews. In other words, the remnant of Jews will be saved alive in their MORTAL bodies to go into or to continue on into the world to come to be TAUGHT of the Lord. Also, there will be some left alive of the Gentile nations who will also be saved alive in their mortal bodies as well after the rapture of the church to be TAUGHT of the Lord during the Millennial reign of Jesus. And any mortal saved DURING the 1000 year reign of Jesus will receive eternal life at the END of the Seventh 1000 year long day of Yahweh’s Sabbath rest. Then Jesus will commit the ruling of the kingdom back into his God and Father’s hand and Almighty God will create the new heaven and the new earth to begin the EIGHT day which is the eternity future. Satan, the fallen angels, and all the unsaved humans will be destroyed in the lake of fire after the final war at the end of the seventh 1000 year long day of Yahweh’s Sabbath rest, also called the 1000 year reign of Jesus. So in conclusion of this study, I do not find even one thread of Scriptural evidence to support the SDA Church “INTERPRETATION” of Exodus 16:29-30 to mean that God gave the keeping of the Sabbath day before the Law of Moses to then mean that God gave the weekly Sabbath day to ALL of mankind beginning with Adam and Eve at creation week. In fact, there is not one shed of Scriptural evidence of even ONE single person ever keeping the weekly Sabbath day BEFORE the children of Israel were delivered out of bondage in the land of Egypt. Please read the study called Dd-22. Was the Sabbath GIVEN at CREATION Week? And in that study I also cover the symbolic meaning of each day of creation much like I covered the symbolic meaning of gathering manna to learn WHY the children were given the weekly Sabbath day as a SIGN in the first place. In this study of God’s word that you are reading now, I pray that you have learned the true sound Biblical meaning of Exodus 16:28-30 which is that God gave the Sabbath day ONLY to the children of Israel for THEM to keep to OBSERVE or DISCERN throughout THEIR generation that the weekly Sabbath day was given as a SIGN pointing to Jesus as their Messiah. ALL of the Sabbath days, the weekly Sabbath days and the yearly feast days are a SHADOW pointing to Jesus. They are a SCHOOLMASTER leading the Jews to Jesus and when a Jew or a Gentile accepts Jesus as their Lord and Savior then they are no longer UNDER the law of commandments contained in ORDINANCES. Rather, Jesus has FULFILLED the law of commandments contained in ORDINANCES. Even the SDA church knows and understands that Christians do not need to keep ANY of the yearly feast day Sabbaths such as the Passover because Jesus IS our Passover Lamb. Please read the following quote from an official SDA Church website. Should we keep the Feast Days? *1 Corinthians 5:7-8, "Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore, let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth." Truth is, we no longer need to sacrifice a Passover lamb according to this passage. This is actually common knowledge among most Christians of today. The exact same principle therefore applies to all the Jewish feasts as they are indeed fulfilled already, just as the sacrifice of the Passover lamb was fulfilled. As for those who feel they are convicted to keep these feasts, I am not seeking to change your minds. At the same time, I feel I stand justified in that I see no reason for you to seek to change mine. The facts will be presented for intelligent Bible decisions to be made on this issue. For it is also written… *Colossians 2:16-17, "Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ."
Now, the SDA Christians as well as all of the seventh DAY of the week Sabbath-keeping Christians will argue that the Sabbaths in Colossians 2:16 are NOT the weekly Sabbaths, but rather, according to their erroneous interpretation, the Sabbaths are the yearly feast day Sabbaths. They argue that the weekly Sabbath was given as one of the TEN Commandments and that the weekly Sabbaths are never listed anywhere in the Bible along with the yearly feast days. Well, let us compare Scripture with Scripture and see what the Bible ITSELF teaches us. And as you will see, the SDA Church argument does not hold water.
1 Chronicles 23:31.
“And to offer all burnt sacrifices unto the LORD in the Sabbaths, in the new moons, and on the set feasts, by number, according to the order commanded unto them, continually before the LORD:”
The SABBATHS here are speaking of the WEEKLY Sabbath days. Sacrifices were offered SEVEN days a week. That is why they were called DAILY sacrifices and oblations in Daniel 9:27. So even on the weekly Sabbath days the priests offered sacrifices to God for the children of Israel. Why would God list the SAME Sabbaths TWICE if so be that the Sabbaths in this verse of Scripture are NOT the weekly Sabbaths. This verse says AND on the set feasts. The NEW MOONS are speaking of the MONTHLY festivals. The SET FEASTS are speaking of the YEARLY feasts which are also called Sabbaths.
2 Chronicles 2:4.
“Behold, I build an house to the name of the LORD my God, to dedicate it to him, and to burn before him sweet incense, and for the continual show bread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the SABBATHS, and on the NEW MOONS, and on the solemn FEASTS of the LORD our God. This is an ORDINANCE for ever TO ISRAEL.”
Again, the SABBATHS here are speaking of the WEEKLY Sabbath days. And the weekly Sabbath is called an ORDINANCE which was abolished and nailed to the cross, according to Ephesians 2:15 and Colossians 2:14-17. The weekly Sabbaths were a SHADOW pointing to Jesus as our TRUE Sabbath rest. And God resting on the seventh day is a PROPHECY referring to the seventh 1000 year long Day of the LORD in the world to come, the 1000 year reign of Jesus. That is why Jesus was MADE Lord of the Sabbath. The NEW MOONS are speaking of the MONTHLY festivals. The SOLEMN FEASTS are speaking of the YEARLY feasts.
2 Chronicles 31:3.
“He appointed also the king's portion of his substance for the burnt offerings, to wit, for the morning and evening burnt offerings, and the burnt offerings for the Sabbaths, and for the new moons, and for the set feasts, as it is written in the law of the LORD.”
The SABBATHS here are speaking of the WEEKLY Sabbath days. Please notice that all these Old Testament verses of Scripture say, AND the set feasts, which clearly means that the Sabbaths spoken of in all these verses are NOT the yearly set feast days even though they are also called Sabbaths of the Lord. The NEW MOONS are speaking of the MONTHLY festivals. The SET FEASTS are speaking of the YEARLY feasts.
Hosea 2:11.
“I will also cause all her mirth (The word “mirth” here means elation or excited feelings of pride in something) to CEASE, her FEAST DAYS, her NEW MOONS, AND her SABBATHS, and all her solemn feasts.”
The FEAST DAYS here are speaking of the YEARLY feast days that are also called Sabbaths. The NEW MOONS are speaking of the MONTHLY festivals. The SABBATHS are speaking of the WEEKLY Sabbath days.
And in ALL these SABBATHS, the YEARLY “Sabbaths”, the MONTHLY new moon “Sabbaths”, and the WEEKLY Sabbaths, Almighty God prophesied in Hosea that He Himself would cause their PRIDE in the keeping of the Sabbaths to CEASE. And God fulfilled that prophecy in Jesus at the cross. The keeping of the WORKS of the law of commandments contained in ORDINANCES ended at the cross so that boasting in the WORKS of the law that were services TO God would cease, according to Ephesians 2:8-15. However, all of the SIX MORAL laws in the TEN Commandments were all REPEATED in the New Testament under the New Covenant. One of the purposes of the cross was to cause ALL BOASTING to CEASE by FULFILLING all the Sabbaths referred to by Christians as the ceremonial laws. Jesus fulfilled all of the ceremonial laws, but Jesus did NOT fulfill any of the MORAL laws. So the reason for why God NO LONGER accepts the Sabbaths that He Himself ordained is because of PRIDE and BOASTING in the keeping of those Sabbaths, INCLUDING the pride and boasting in the keeping of the WEEKLY Sabbath days. And from what I have observed SOME Sabbath-keeping Christians seem to tend to boast that they are the only true Christians. For you see, according to them, they are the only ones who keep the Sabbath rest. Please understand that this is a general statement and I am not saying that ALL Sabbath-keeping Christians are prideful of their keeping the Sabbath day as the Jews keep the Sabbath day as it is written in ORDINANCES in the Law of Moses. And I would say that many if not most Sabbath-keeping Christians STRUGGLE with trying to keep the Sabbath day and often wonder if they are keeping it correctly seeing that all Sabbath-keepers do NOT keep the Sabbath day in the SAME manner. To my knowledge from hearing a former SDA Christian, he said that the SDA Christians do not truly keep the Sabbath day according to the Law of God as it is written in the Bible, but rather, they simply have their church service on Saturday. All Sabbath-keeping Christians have failed to discern that Jesus is our TRUE Sabbath rest. Now, even Christians who do not know that Jesus is our Sabbath rest they are still keeping the SPIRIT of the FOURTH commandment by FAITH in Jesus. For you see, simply by our faith in Jesus we ARE keeping the SPIRIT of the law which is TRUE Sabbath, And thus, God still credits you with keeping the fourth commandment WITHOUT the keeping of the LETTER of the law to keep the weekly Sabbath DAY. For you see, the weekly Sabbath was given for a SIGN pointing to Jesus as the Messiah. So we, as Christians ARE keeping the SIGN of the weekly Sabbath that points to Jesus by our FAITH in Jesus even if you never knew this before. The RESTING on the weekly Sabbath DAY was a SHADOW pointing to Jesus as our TRUE Sabbath REST. The yearly feast days are a SHADOW pointing to Jesus. For example, the feast of Passover was fulfilled in Jesus and now under the New Covenant we ARE keeping the feast of Passover by our FAITH in Jesus as the TRUE Passover Lamb. So the actual “law” or commandments have not been abolished, but rather, it was the WAY in which the law and commandments of God contained in ORDINANCES are to now be kept under the New Covenant written in the New Testament. Please read the study called Dd-13. Is JESUS OUR TRUE SABBATH REST? Again, please notice that FOUR things are listed in Colossians 2:16 that we are NOT to let ANYONE judge us for NOT keeping as the JEWS do under the Old Covenant. These FOUR things are:
#1. DIET, what we eat, as in, let no man judge you for NOT keeping the DIETARY laws under the OLD COVENANT.
#2. Feast days, speaking of do not allow any man to judge you for NOT keeping the YEARLY feast days that are also called SABBATHS or days of REST.
#3. The new moons, as in, do not let any person JUDGE you for NOT observing the MONTHLY new moon festivals.
#4. SABBATH days, which are the WEEKLY Sabbaths that we are not to let any man to heap condemnation on us for NOT keeping the Sabbaths by resting from all work on the SEVENTH day of the week or any other day of the week for that matter. Paul teaches us in Romans chapter 14 that we are NOT to esteem any day above any other day and that we are to esteem every day alike. The early church in the first century met on the FIRST day of the week. However, there is no one teaching in the New Testament under the New Covenant instructing us to REST on ANY day of the week. WHY do I say that number 4 is speaking of the WEEKLY Sabbaths and not some OTHER Sabbath days? One reason is that the YEARLY Sabbaths and the MONTHLY festivals of obligation are already mentioned in #2, and #3 of the FOUR DIFFERENT things listed. So it makes no logical sense to list FOUR things and then INTERPRET the fourth thing to be the same thing as the second thing. In other words, it makes no logical sense to list four different things where one is concerning food and the other three things are concerning the keeping of DAYS. You see, Paul listed three different things concerning the esteeming of a certain day above another day which he says NOT to do in Romans chapter 14. And we KNOW beyond any shadow of a doubt that Israel was given three different ORDINANCES related to the keeping of holy days, the YEARLY feast days, the MONTHLY new moon days, AND the WEEKLY Sabbath days, which again are three DIFFERENT things. So it makes no sense for the Apostle Paul to list one of these three things pertaining to the keeping of days TWICE. Now, most Christians know that God gave THREE DIFFERENT ordinances related to the esteeming of DAYS which are the yearly feast days, the new moon festival days, AND the weekly Sabbath days. But SDA Christians as well as all Sabbatarian seventh day of the week Sabbath-keeping Christians dogmatically demand that the feast days and the Sabbath days listed SEPARATELY are ONE and the self-same thing speaking of the same days. And thus, to THEM, THEY are able to make THREE DIFFERENT things appear to only be TWO things listed in verse 16 as being contained in ordinances that were nailed to the cross and taken out of the way, the YEARLY Sabbaths and the MONTHLY new moon festivals. So WHERE did the WEEKLY Sabbath days go when using THEIR INTERPRETATION of Colossians 2:16,17? Are not the weekly Sabbath days also called ORDINANCES? Yes, the weekly Sabbath is a law of commandment contained in ORDINANCES. God told Moses in Exodus 18:29 to TEACH the children of Israel His ORDINANCES and laws. The LAW is the COMMANDMENT itself and the ORDINANCES are the INSTRUCTION on HOW to keep the law of the commandment.
Please read Numbers 12:19.
“They shall leave none of it unto the morning, nor break any bone of it: ACCORDING to ALL the ORDINANCES OF the Passover they shall keep it.”
In other words, the children of Israel were commanded to keep the Passover. But HOW were they to keep the Passover? Moses made a HANDWRITING of ALL the ORDINANCES of HOW they were to keep the Passover under the Old Covenant written in the Old Testament. And two of those ORDINANCES are written in this verse as being, you shall not leave any of the Passover Lamb until morning and you shall not break any bone of the Passover Lamb. Plus there were many other ordinances for HOW to keep the feast of Passover such as WHEN to keep it and so forth. So again, the commandment of the Passover itself was not abolished at the cross, but rather, it was the ORDINANCES or the INSTRUCTIONS of HOW to keep the commandment of the Passover that were WRITTEN in the Law of Moses that were ABOLISHED and nailed to the cross. And NOW, under the New Covenant, Jesus has given us NEW instructions on HOW to keep the commandments of Almighty God, the Father. So you see dear children of God, when these three separate things listed in Colossians 2:16 called Sabbaths, holy new moon days, AND the feast days are listed in the Old Testament, then no Christian ever tries to explain away that the Sabbath days, which clearly mean the WEEKLY Sabbath days, by dogmatically demanding that the Sabbath days are ONLY referring to the yearly Sabbaths, and thus, they do NOT mean the WEEKLY Sabbath. But rather, all Christians, even Sabbath-keeping Christians, understand and AGREE that when the Sabbath days are listed along WITH the feast days and the new moons in the OLD Testament, then the Sabbath days are clearly understood to mean, without fail, the WEEKLY Sabbaths. So just because the yearly feast day of Passover is ALSO called a Sabbath that does NOT mean that the Sabbaths listed in Colossians 2:16 can ONLY mean the feast days. Again, why would Paul list the SAME thing TWICE if so be that he intended his words to mean that the feast days and the Sabbaths were one and the self-same thing and the Sabbaths were NOT the weekly Sabbath? So to me, the SDA Christians, as well as ALL Sabbath-keeping Christians, are the ones MAKING a LIE by twisting God's word of TRUTH to make it say what they need it to say in order to support the man-made doctrine that Christians MUST keep the weekly Sabbath days lest they sin. For you see, if the Sabbath-keeping Christians admit that Paul means the WEEKLY Sabbath in Colossians 2:16 then their WHOLE doctrine that Christians must keep the weekly Sabbath day falls apart. And therefore, they must force all the Scriptures in the New Testament to FIT their man-made doctrine that God made the weekly Sabbath for ALL of mankind to keep and not just for the children of Israel to keep. But what they have failed to see is that Jesus is our Sabbath rest under the New Covenant written in the New Testament in the same way that Jesus IS our Passover Lamb. And ONLY by RESTING in Jesus as our Lord and Savior means to CEASE from the works of the law contained in ORDINANCES that Jesus abolish on the cross. The word WORKS in Ephesians 2:9 that says we are not saved by WORKS in referring to the works of the law of commandments contained in ORDINANCE down in Ephesians 2:15. Please read the study called Dd-4. What does EPHESIANS 2:8-15 TRULY MEAN? Jesus was MADE the Lord of the Sabbath after the cross, according to Acts 2:36. And Jesus said that the Sabbath was made for man and NOT that man was made for the Sabbath. That is what Paul WARNED the Christians in his day that were keeping the Law of Moses that they are accursed.
Please read Galatians 1:6-9.
“I marvel that you are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7. Which is not another; but there are some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that you have received, let him be accursed.”
The argument made by Sabbath-keeping Christians that they are not keeping the Sabbath day to be SAVED, but rather, they keep the Sabbath day to be more pleasing to God. However, we do not find any teaching in the New Testament that says that we should or that we ought to keep the weekly Sabbath DAY to be more pleasing to God. But we do find in the TRUE Gospel of Jesus Christ that Jesus is the END of the law for RIGHTEOUSNESS to everyone that BELIEVES, according to Romans 10:4. It is RIGHTEOUSNESS that pleases God and we are made righteous in Jesus Christ to serve God in RIGHTEOUSNESS. And how can anyone be MORE PLEASING to God than God Himself making us Holy even as He is Holy? But sadly, the seventh day of the week Sabbath-keeping Christians do NOT truly BELIEVE that Jesus is the END of the law for RIGHTEOUSNESS. Rather, THEY sincerely BELIEVE that Christians must keep the weekly Sabbath DAY in order to PLEASE God. In truth, they fear that they would be sinning if they stopped having church service on Saturday, the SEVENTH DAY of the week. They reason in their mind that it is a SIN to steal, and then they reason with DOUBT in their mind, thinking WHAT IF the weekly Sabbath does NOT point to Jesus as our Messiah? What if other Christians are WRONG? And IF they are wrong then they FEAR they were breaking the fourth commandment if they went to church on Sunday. And breaking any of the TEN Commandments is a SIN. Therefore, they ARE keeping the weekly Sabbath day to be SAVED or at least to receive eternal life in the world to come. So do NOT believe them when they say that they are only keeping the fourth commandment to PLEASE God. Simply ask them if breaking any of the TEN Commandments is a SIN? And if they are being honest with themselves and with God they will say yes, stealing is a sin, adultery is a sin, murder is a sin and so forth. Then ask them if it is a sin to not keep the weekly Sabbath DAY? Again, if they are honest they will say yes. If they say no, then ask them WHY not keeping the Sabbath day is not a SIN? Box them into a corner until they admit that they ARE keeping the Sabbath day to be SAVED. Do SINNERS go to heaven? Is breaking any of the SIX MORAL commandments in the TEN Commandments a SIN? Get them to see that the FOURTH commandment is NOT a MORAL commandment and that it is a CEREMONIAL commandment. Then read Ephesians 2:8-15 to them to show them that we are NOT saved by the WORKS of the law of commandments contained in ORDINANCES. Ask them or say to them, seeing that Jesus died on the cross for our sins would it be a slap in the face of Jesus to CONTINUE offering animal sacrifices? Would not that be showing Jesus that you do not TRULY believe that the shedding of his blood cleansed you from all your sins? When they say yes then tell them that Jesus ABOLISHED ALL the law of commandments contained in ORDINANCES, according to Ephesians 2:15 and Colossians 2:13-17 and have them read ALL the studies under the heading >>>Dd-0. What is the TRUE Sabbath?<<< Explain to them that Jesus did NOT abolish the fourth commandment ITSELF. But rather, Jesus abolished the ORDINANCES contained in the fourth commandment. And NOW, under the New Covenant we are to keep the TRUE MEANING of the Sabbath REST by our FAITH in Jesus as our TRUE Sabbath REST.
