O-2. WAS JESUS ALWAYS GOD’S SON?

Was Jesus always God’s Son? What I mean by this is that did Jesus always exist in eternity past as God’s Son?

What does the Bible itself teach us concerning this question or did Jesus pre-exist as God’s Son in any form in eternity past?

Was the Word God’s Son who became God’s human Son but remained the fully Almighty God?

Was Michael the Archangel God’s Son who then became God’s human Son as the Jehovah’s Witnesses teach?

Was God the Son God’s Son who then became flesh but remained the fully divine Almighty God?

What does the Bible ITSELF teach us?

Now, this is a very important question because the answer to this question will have a direct effect on MANY church doctrines among MANY different church denominations.

For you see if so be that the Bible ITSELF proves beyond any shadow of a doubt that Jesus did NOT pre-exist then that would mean that the Jehovah’s Witnesses are in error by their teaching that Michael the Archangel became flesh. You see the Jehovah’s Witnesses teach that Jesus was the FIRSTBORN of every creature who then created everything else.

And if so be that the Bible ITSELF teaches us that Jesus did NOT pre-exist in eternity past then there goes the doctrine of the Trinity and the teaching that Jesus is the creator of all things.

In fact, if so be that the Bible ITSELF proves that Jesus did not pre-exist then every church denomination that teaches that Jesus is Yahweh himself will be found in error for teaching that Jesus is the creator of all things.

Well, let us take a look at a few Scriptures to see what the Bible ITSELF teaches us as to WHEN Jesus BECAME God’s Son.

Let us begin this study in God’s word with Romans 1:4 by reading several different translations of the Bible. Since I almost always use the King James Version I will begin with the King James translation of Romans 1:4.

Here is Romans 1:3,4 from the King James Version.

“Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;

4.  And DECLARED to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, BY the RESURRECTION from the dead:”

So according to this verse and other verses as well, Jesus BECAME the Son of God BY the resurrection from the dead.

I will only quote verse 4 from the other translations. I quote verse 3 here so that you can see WHO verse four is CONCERNING. Verse 4 is concerning Jesus Christ who was DECLARED to be God’s Son BY the RESURRECTION from the dead. That is WHEN the Son of MAN, Jesus, BECAME the eternal Son of God.

Here is Romans 1:4 from Bible in Basic English.

“But was marked out as Son of God in power by the Holy Spirit THROUGH the coming to life again of the dead; Jesus Christ our Lord,”

Here is Romans 1:4 from New International Readers Version.

“By the power of the Holy Spirit, he was appointed to be the mighty Son of God BEACUSE he rose from the dead. He is Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Here is Romans 1:4 from the New International Version.

“and who through the Spirit of holiness was appointed the Son of God in power BY his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Here is Romans 1:4 from the Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible.

“Who was predestinated the Son of God in power, according to the spirit of sanctification, BY the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ from the dead:”

Here is Romans 1:4 from the Revised Standard Version.

“and designated Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness BY his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord,”

Here is Romans 1:4 from the Wycliffe Translation.

“and he was before-ordained the Son of God in virtue, BY the Spirit of the hallowing of the again-rising of dead men, of Jesus Christ our Lord [+which is predestined, or before-ordained by grace, the Son of God in virtue, AFTER the Spirit of the hallowing of the again-rising of dead men, of Jesus Christ our Lord,]”

Here is Romans 1:4 from the Young’s Literal Translation.

“who is marked out Son of God in power, according to the Spirit of sanctification, BY the rising again from the dead,) Jesus Christ our Lord;”

The Greek word translated as declared to be the Son of God in the King James Version means declared, to mark out, bound, to appoint, to decree, to specify, to determine and to ordain.

And here is the definition of the Greek word translated as “BY” the resurrection from the dead in the King James Version.

“A primary preposition denoting origin (the point whence motion or action proceeds), from, out (of place, time or cause; literally or figuratively; direct or remote): - after, among, X are, at betwixt (-yond), by (the means of), exceedingly, (+ abundantly above), for (-th), from (among, forth, up), + grudgingly, + heartily, X heavenly, X hereby, + very highly, in, . . . ly, (because, by reason) of, off (from), on, out among (from, of), over, since, X thenceforth, through, X unto, X vehemently, with (-out). Often used in composition, with the same general import; often of completion.”

Now please read Acts 13:32-41 where we can clearly see in SIMPLICITY that Jesus was BEGOTTEN of God on a certain DAY in time and that certain day in time ACCORDING to the Bible ITSELF was AT the RESURRECTION of the Son of MAN.

Acts 13:32-41.

“And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the PROMISE which was made unto the fathers,

33. God has FULFILLED the same unto us their children (And HOW did God FULFILL the Scripture of the promise of prophecy being spoken of here?), IN THAT He has RAISED UP Jesus AGAIN; AS IT is also WRITTEN in the second psalm, (Which is a PROPHECY of a future day that God would beget Himself a Son) You are my Son, THIS DAY have I BEGOTTEN you. (Now some Christians argue and say that this teaching or doctrine of Jesus becoming the Son of God AT his RESURRECTION is based upon ONE verse only here in Acts 13:33. And they make the CLAIM that the term this day is speaking of ETERNITY for there is no time with God. But the writer of the book of Acts clearly states that the prophecy written in Psalms chapter 2 has God FULFILLED IN THAT He has RAISED UP or has BEGOTTEN Jesus from the DEAD. The CONTEXT clearly shows this fulfillment of Psalms 2 being the resurrection by the bringing out of other prophecies being FULFILLED AT the RESURRECTION of Jesus)     

34. AND AS CONCERNING that He RAISED him UP from the DEAD, now no more to return to corruption, He said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David.

35. Wherefore He said ALSO in another psalm, (Or also in another PROPHECY) You shall not suffer your Holy One to see corruption. (So then, IF SO BE it was true that Jesus was BEGOTTEN in eternity past as some claim and Psalm 2 was fulfilled in eternity PAST, then they must be consistent in their interpretation of verse 33 and also demand that verses 34-36 also took place in eternity past as well. I mean THINK this through for yourself dear children of God. IF SO BE that Jesus was ALREADY begotten as God's Son in ETERNITY past with or without having a beginning, then it makes NO sense for God to INSPIRE godly men of old to write down PROPHECY foretelling of a certain DAY that his Son would be BEGOTTEN at some point in time in the future. And THEN inspire the disciples of Jesus to TEACH us that the PROPHECY in Psalm 2 was FULFILLED in THAT God RAISED Jesus from the DEAD. All I am saying is that I did not write the Bible and I am only telling you what the Bible ITSELF plainly STATES as FACT with no interpretation needed. So, rather than interpret THIS verse another way to TRY and explain it away, why not go back and take a CLOSER look at those verses that SEEM to be saying that Jesus preexisted in eternity past, which are INTERPRETED as Jesus pre-existing as God's eternal divine SON, who was WITH God at his SIDE for all eternity, who was then sent down from heaven to become flesh but yet REMAINED fully divine having TWO natures. I mean I myself have never read one verse in the entire Bible that teaches us of Jesus having TWO NATURES one divine and the other human at the SAME time. Can you not see dear child of God that the Bible ITSELF does NOT teach us that Jesus had TWO natures during the days of his FLESH, but rather it is man's INTERPRETATION of the Scriptures that teach the doctrine of the Deity of Jesus dogmatically demanding that Jesus was deity DURING the days of his FLESH on the earth before the CROSS. The Bible ITSELF teaches that Jesus was HIGHLY EXALTED by the Father)          

36. For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:

37. But he, whom God RAISED AGAIN (Or whom God has BEGOTTEN AGAIN from the DEAD and has given immortality never more to die. Remember that Jesus said that MAN must be BORN AGAIN to enter into the kingdom of God. Actually, Jesus teaches a TWO stage process of being born again. First, we are born again by the word of God so that we can SEE or UNDERSTAND the things of the kingdom or the things of God and then we WILL BE born again AT the FIRST RESURRECTION at the second coming so that we can ENTER INTO the kingdom of God because this mortal body of FLESH must put on IMMORTALITY to ENTER into the kingdom of God), saw no corruption. (And Jesus was made to BECOME immortal by his God and Father GIVING him life to HAVE in himself even as the Father has always had the DIVINE NATURE OF immortality in himself.)

38. Be it known unto you, therefore, men and brethren, that through this MAN is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:

39. And by him, all that believe are justified from all things, from which you could not be justified by the Law of Moses.

40. Beware, therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets;

41. Behold, you who despise, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in YOUR days, (Again, proving that Jesus was NOT begotten in eternity past BEFORE the creation of the world and mankind) a work which you shall in no wise believe, though a MAN declares it unto you.”

Jesus, the Son of MAN, declared that he would suffer and die on the cross and after three days would be raised from the dead, but no one, not even his disciples, truly understood and believed his words until AFTER they WITNESSED the RESURRECTION of Jesus showing himself alive by many infallible proofs for forty days AFTER Jesus descended BACK down from heaven. Now no one actually witnessed the event of Jesus being raised from the dead while it was happening, but rather they became witnesses to the TRUTH that Jesus was raised from the dead when Jesus SHOWED himself alive by many infallible proofs for forty days after Jesus was BEGOTTEN from the DEAD to be GIVEN the divine nature of ETERNAL LIFE by his God and Father.

Jesus being BEGOTTEN from the DEAD is the heart of the gospel. This is what the Bible itself teaches us to believe in order to be SAVED. This is what sets Christianity apart from ALL other faiths. Many other religions believe that Jesus existed, but they do NOT believe that he was BEGOTTEN FROM THE DEAD. They do NOT believe that Jesus is DEITY or God. And had Satan KNOWN he would NOT have crucified that innocent pure Lamb of God, the Son of MAN, who offered himself without spot THROUGH the ETERNAL SPIRIT.

I teach that Jesus is DEITY, but NOT in the way that the mainstream Orthodox churches teach. Rather I teach what the Bible ITSELF teaches and that is, that Jesus became deity AFTER the cross, which was after he OVERCAME first.

I teach that Jesus is the DIVINE Son of God, but NOT in the same way that the mainstream Orthodox Church denominations teach. Rather, I teach what the Bible ITSELF teaches, which is that Jesus was GIVEN the divine nature of IMMORTALITY to HAVE eternal life in himself, even as Yahweh the Father has always had life in himself, AFTER the cross, after he OVERCAME.

I teach that Jesus IS God, but NOT in the way that the mainstream Orthodox denominational churches teach. Rather I teach what the Bible ITSELF teaches, and that is that Yahweh the Father HIGHLY EXALTED his Son Jesus to BECOME a God who is UNDER and SUBJECT to Yahweh the Father AFTER the cross, which was after Jesus OVERCAME as the Son of MAN having been ANOINTED or EMPOWERED by the eternal Spirit dwelling IN him.

And the REASON I teach only what the Bible ITSELF teaches is so that YOU can see and understand that the SAME anointing who dwelt IN Jesus NOW dwells IN YOU dear child of God to EMPOWER YOU to live without sin and do the SAME works that the Father Himself did through the human hands of his Son Jesus.

Let us now take a look at Hebrews 1:1-6 where we find the writer of Hebrews COMPARING Jesus with the angels. Remember as you read these verses that the FIRST estate or the FIRST birth of Jesus was being made a little LOWER than the angels, but NOW after the cross, after Jesus was born AGAIN from the DEAD, he has OBTAINED a name higher or more excellent than the angels by INHERITANCE.

Hebrews 1:1-6.

“God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

2. Has in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, (So then, in the Old Testament God spoke to man through his prophets and by the angels but now in these last days has spoken to us through his Son. This means that all the so-called appearances of the Son of God in the Old Testament would CONTRADICT this verse if so be that they were true. Keep in mind that all those theophanies are INTERPRETATIONS of men. So where in the Old Testament does it STATE That the Son of God appeared to anyone? God only started to speak to man by his Son AFTER the Virgin Birth or more precisely AFTER the baptism of Jesus when God anointed the Son of MAN and sent him to the world.) whom he has appointed HEIR of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; (The word “by” here also means FOR and for the sake of. So then, by the context, God himself created the worlds FOR and FOR the SAKE OF Jesus to INHERIT. And we are JOINT heirs with Jesus, but God anointed or ordained him ABOVE all his fellows or brothers and sisters. Jesus is God's King of kings. We will become kings after we overcome, but Jesus is our King over us, and Yahweh is THE King over Jesus. Jesus was highly exalted to become God's King second only to Yahweh himself. Jesus INHERITED all things by BECOMING God's eternal divine Son AFTER the cross.)

3. Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, WHEN he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

4. Being MADE so much BETTER than the angels, as he has BY inheritance OBTAINED a MORE EXCELLENT name than they. (In other words, it was prophesied that Jesus would obtain a more excellent name than the angels as his INHERITANCE)

5. For unto which of the angels said he at any time, You are my Son, THIS DAY have I begotten you? And again, I WILL BE to him a Father, and HE SHALL be to me a Son?

6. And again (Speaking of the second coming of Jesus), when he brings in the FIRST BEGOTTEN into the world, he says, And let all the angels of God worship him.”

Jesus is called the FIRST begotten Son of God and right NOW Jesus is the ONLY begotten Son of God. But AT the coming of Jesus there will be MANY begotten sons and daughters of God. Also, please notice that this verse says I WILL BE to him a Father and he SHALL BE to me a Son, which clearly and plainly teaches us that Psalm 2 is a prophecy of a future day, as THE day in the time of WHEN Jesus SHALL BECOME the SON OF God and Yahweh SHALL BECOME his Father. And that day was fulfilled at the cross WHEN God raise Jesus again from the DEAD. Therefore to ME, it is a definite contradiction to God's word to dogmatically demand that the SON OF God has ALWAYS existed or even that the SON OF God was begotten of God in eternity past BEFORE God created the world and mankind.

You see dear children of God it makes NO sense for God to PROPHESY of his yet COMING SON, if so be, his Son ALREADY pre-existed WITH him at his SIDE in eternity past, as some claim.

Also, the FIRST BEGOTTEN here does NOT mean that Jesus was the first begotten of every creature BEFORE the creation of the world and that God brought his first-begotten into the world to be born of the Virgin Mary, as God's DIVINE ETERNAL Son, having TWO natures because this leaves NO place for the Scripture to be fulfilled where Jesus was made a little LOWER than the angels BEFORE the Son of MAN was highly exalted and given the right to INHERIT the world to come.

Please read Hebrews 2:3-14.

“How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

4. God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?

5. For unto the angels has he NOT put in subjection the world TO COME, whereof we speak.

6. But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is MAN, that you are mindful of him? or the son of MAN, that you visit him?

7. You made him (Jesus, and all of man or mankind) a little LOWER than the angels;(Speaking of the days of his FLESH) you crowned him with glory and honor, and did set him over the works of your hands:(Speaking of AFTER Jesus OVERCAME even to suffer and die on the cross a cruel DEATH for our sins)

8. You have put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.

9. But WE ( Apostles and disciples of Jesus who were eyewitnesses said WE) see Jesus, who was made a little LOWER than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. (Now, I believe that Jesus pre-existed as the WORD that was WITHIN THE Almighty God as God's THOUGHT or IMAGE in the mind and plan of God which God SPOKE into existence to become FLESH or HUMAN. What God SPEAKS comes into existence. God SPOKE His WORD out from His mouth and God's word became a human being, the Son of MAN who was prophesied to be called the Son of God. And the PROPHECY in Isaiah 9:6 says that his NAME shall be called the mighty God WHEN the government is laid upon his shoulders. Yahweh who quickens, or makes alive again the DEAD, CALLS things that are not yet as though they already are, according to Romans 4:17. So to me, John 1:1 is a PROPHECY. The phrase “and the Word was God” literally reads “And God was the SAYING.” In other words, the Almighty God called into existence “a” God who would rule for Him IN His NAME for 1000 years in the world yet to come WHEN the government is LAID upon his shoulders)

10. For it became Him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing MANY SONS unto GLORY, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. (Jesus is the CAPTAIN of our salvation, the FIRSTBORN of every creature, the FIRSTBORN from the DEAD, that he might become the FIRST fruit of MANY brethren or MANY sons of God)

11. For both he that sanctifies and they who are sanctified are all of ONE: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them BRETHREN,

12. Saying, I will declare your name unto MY BRETHREN, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto you. (Jesus is our fellow BROTHER who became the FIRST faithful WITNESS to become the BEGINNING of the NEW creation of God, the firstborn from the dead of MANY BRETHREN)

13. And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God has given me.

14. For as much then AS the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he ALSO HIMSELF LIKEWISE took part of the SAME; that (Or so that) through DEATH he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;”

So then, clearly the Bible itself teaches us that DURING the days of his FLESH is the “when” that Jesus was made a little LOWER than the angels and it was only AFTER Jesus was BEGOTTEN from the DEAD that Jesus inherited a more excellent name than the angels and was made BETTER than the angels, and was given the right to JUDGE the fallen angels and rule over ALL the angels inheriting the worlds to come.

Therefore to dogmatically demand that Jesus was the DIVINE ETERNAL Son of God DURING the days of his FLESH is to ALSO say that the DIVINE ETERNAL SON of God was never LOWER and inferior to the ANGELS.

No dear child of God, the DIVINE ETERNAL SON of God OBTAINED a more excellent name than the angels to INHERIT the worlds to come and the JUDGE the angels who sinned. But Jesus, as the Son of MAN, DURING the days of his FLESH, was indeed made LOWER or inferior to the angels and it was only AFTER Jesus, the Son of MAN, overcame that God HIGHLY EXALTED him to become a God, under Yahweh, to rule for Yahweh in the worlds to come including to rule OVER the angels and ALL belongs to Yahweh.

So, to say that Jesus was fully the divine Yahweh DURING the DAYS of his FLESH is to deny Hebrews 2:3-14 which teaches us that God made Jesus a little LOWER than the angels.

Some Christians argue that if God himself did not die for our sins, then we are not saved because no MAN can die for our sins.

And when you try and tell them that the IMMORTAL God cannot die they will come back with something like it was only the HUMAN side of Jesus that died. So then, they are saying that God did NOT die for their sins because it was ONLY the HUMAN side of Jesus that died on the cross.
