Every Christian that I know would say, of course, Jesus is a Jew because the Bible says that he came to his OWN people and salvation is of the Jews. John 1:11,12. “He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” In other words, Jesus came to preach the kingdom to his OWN people the Jews and some of the Jews believed that he was their Messiah but the majority of his own people, the Jews, did not receive Jesus as their Messiah. So then, most Christians would say that Jesus is without question a JEW because salvation is of the Jews. Please read John 4:21,22 where Jesus is talking to a Samaritan woman and Jesus speaks of himself as being a JEW. John 4:21,22. “Jesus said unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour comes, when you shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. 22. You (Being a Samaritan) worship you know not what: WE know what WE worship: for salvation is of the JEWS.” However, there are some Christians who dogmatically insist that the Jews are NOT a part of ISRAEL and that Jesus came to save the children of Israel ONLY. They say that the Jews are the children of the Devil and thus the Jews can NOT be saved. And they sincerely believe that calling Jesus a JEW is blasphemy. So, now the question becomes, are the Jews spoken of in the Bible true Hebrew Israelites?
Are the Jews the Hebrew Israelites
Again, some Christians are teaching that the name or term Jews was invented in modern times and it never existed in the day of Jesus. And I agree that the letter “J” in the English language was not invented until modern times but the English translation does not affect what was written in the original Greek text. These same Christians teach that salvation is for Israel ONLY and that the Jews are NOT Hebrew Israelites. They also teach the Jews living in Israel today are FAKE Jews. And again, some of them take offense when other Christians say that Jesus is a JEW.
But what does the Bible itself teach us?
Are the Jews one and the same PEOPLE as the Hebrew Israelite people? Or were the Jews, in the days of Jesus, the descendants of Esau called the Edomites as the salvation for Israel only believers claim? Let us begin this study in God’s word by reading Acts 13:14-16 where Paul is preaching to the men of ISRAEL and those who fear God.
Acts 13:14-16.
“But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went INTO the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and sat down. 15. And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, You men and brethren, if you have any word of exhortation for the people, say on. 16. Then Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, Men of Israel, and you that fear God, give us your audience.”
Paul continues to IDENTIFY to whom he is preaching throughout the entire context. Please see the following verses.
Acts 13:17. “The God of this people of Israel chose OUR fathers, (So Paul was including himself as being a Hebrew Israelite and thus one of the children of ISRAEL along with THOSE IN the synagogue to whom he was preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ) and exalted the people when they dwelt as strangers in the land of Egypt, and with an high arm brought he them out of it.”
Acts 13:23.
“Of this man's seed has God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Savior, Jesus:”
Acts 13:24.
“When John had first preached before his coming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.”
Now skip down to verse 26 where Paul again IDENTIFIES to whom he is preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Acts 13:26.
“Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you fears God, to YOU is the word of this salvation sent.”
All the way through the entire context of Paul preaching the gospel he is bringing this word of salvation to the children of ISRAEL. Now skip down to verse 42 of this SAME context where Paul again IDENTIFIES those to whom has just finished preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Act 13:42,43.
“And when the JEWS were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles sought that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath. 43. Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the JEWS AND religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.”
So then, Paul clearly identifies the men of ISRAEL as being JEWS. Also, we clearly see that there were some PROSELYTES among the natural born children of Israel as well. A proselyte is someone who is not a Hebrew by birth but has BECOME a follower of Yahweh by being CIRCUMCISED. We will get into the Scriptures that prove this further on in this study, in God’s word, but right at the moment, I want to continue with the verses that use the word “Jew” and the word “Israel” interchangeably speaking of the SAME Hebrew race of people called the children of Israel.
Please read Acts 28:17-21.
“And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the JEWS together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men and brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of OUR fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans. 18. Who, when they had examined me, would have let me go, because there was no cause of death in me. 19. But when the Jews spoke against it, I was constrained to appeal unto Caesar; not that I had ought to accuse MY nation of. 20. For this cause therefore have I called for you, (Speaking of the chief elders of the JEWS) to see you, (My fellow brethren of my nation) and to speak with you: (The people of OUR fathers) because that for the hope of ISRAEL I am bound with this chain. 21. And they (The chief elders of the JEWS) said unto him, We neither received letters out of Judaea concerning you, nor, ANY of the BRETHREN that came showed or spoke any harm of you.”
So again, we see that Luke records the JEW being one and the selfsame PEOPLE of God called Israel sometimes and called the Jews every other time. Now, even if one tries to argue that Acts 13:26 says the stock of Abraham, to mean ALL the children of Abraham including the seed of Ishmael and the seed of Esau, the Edomites verse 26 ALSO says that the word of salvation was sent to YOU speaking of ALL the stock of Abraham and those who feared God which would include the proselytes as well.
Acts 13:26.
“Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you fears God, to YOU is the word of this salvation sent.”
Paul uses the same wording “men and BRETHREN” speaking to the chief JEWS as he does when speaking to the children of the stock of Abraham. And he is saying to the JEWS that to YOU is the word of SALVATION sent.
Let us continue with Philippians 3:3-9.
“For WE are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. (In other words, Paul is saying to the Jewish Christians that we are the children of the seed of promise that are circumcised in the flesh according to the covenant God made with our father Abraham. Who believed in God’s Son to NOW worship God is Spirit and in truth) 4. Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinks that he has whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: 5. Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; (Here in this verse we clearly see that Paul was a circumcised HEBREW of the stock of the house of ISRAEL who was a descendant from the tribe of Benjamin. Paul was also a Pharisee which he says is the straightest or most exact sect of the Jewish religion. Please read Acts 26:4-7. “My manner of life from my youth, which was at the first among my own nation at Jerusalem, know all the Jews; Act 26:5 Which knew me from the beginning, if they would testify, that after the most straitest sect of OUR religion I lived a Pharisee. Act 26:6 And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God unto OUR fathers: Act 26:7 Unto which promises OUR twelve tribes, instantly serving God day and night, hope to come. For which hope's sake, king Agrippa, I am accused of the Jews.” So clearly, the Bible ITSELF teaches us that the RELIGION of the TWELVE TRIBES of ISRAEL was the SAME religion of the JEWS because the Jews and Israel are one and the selfsame HEBREW people of God. Paul was preaching the gospel of salvation to his OWN people ISRAEL desiring for all of ISRAEL to be saved and he called himself and THEM as well by the title or the name the JEWS. But BEFORE Paul converted to Christianity he was a Jew who persecuted the church like all the Jews are now persecuting Paul) 6. Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. 7. But what things were (In the PAST) gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. 8. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, 9. And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:”
Paul being a HEBREW of the stock of ISRAEL called himself a JEW who is now being persecuted by the Jews.
Please read Acts 21:39,40.
“But Paul said, I am a man who is a JEW of Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city: and, I beseech you, suffer me to speak unto the people. 40. And when he had given him license, Paul stood on the stairs, and beckoned with the hand unto the people. And when there was made a great silence, he spoke unto them in the Hebrew tongue, saying,”
Paul continues speaking in the next chapter which is the SAME CONTEXT saying. Acts 22:1-5.
“Men, brethren, and fathers, hear you my defense which I make now unto you. 2. (And when they heard that he spake in the Hebrew tongue to them, they kept the more silence: and he said,) 3. I am verily a man who is a JEW, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the LAW of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as YOU ALL are this day. (So Paul is speaking to the JEWS of the SAME religion as Paul BEFORE Paul converted to Christianity. Keep in mind that Apostle Paul also identifies the JEWS as being the men of ISRAEL having the SAME fathers and the SAME LAW of Moses. So then, Judaism is the SAME religion as the Hebrew religion. I agree that there are different SECTS which differ on some points of doctrine such as the resurrection, but they ALL have the SAME LAW of Moses) 4. And I persecuted this WAY (Speaking of the believers in Jesus called the WAY) unto death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women. 5. As also the high priest does bear me witness, and all the estate of the elders: from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, (In other words, most of you JEWS to whom I am giving my defense know right well that you gave me the letters of authority to arrest Christians) and went to Damascus, to bring them which were there bound unto Jerusalem, for to be punished.”
Peter who was a Hebrew Israelite ALSO called himself a JEW.
Acts 10:28.
“And he said unto them, You know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a JEW to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; BUT God has showed ME that I should not call any man common or unclean.”
Peter also called the men of Israel JEWS.
Acts 2:5.
“And there were dwelling at Jerusalem JEWS, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.”
These Jews who were born in other countries traveled to Jerusalem to celebrate the feast of weeks and the day of Pentecost. And there were some who BECAME Jews that are called PROSELYTES.
Acts 2:10.
“Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,”
And some of those present hearing the first sermon being preached by Peter on the day of Pentecost to ONLY the JEWS were men from Judaea. So this teaches us that the men of Galilee had the same religion and Law of Moses as the men of Judaea
Act 2:14.
“But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, You men of Judaea, and all you that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:”
Then Peter IDENTIFIES these SAME men who were called JEWS and men of Judaea as being men of ISRAEL in verse 22 of the same context.
Act 2:22.
“You men of ISRAEL, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as you yourselves also know:”
Now skip down to Act 2:36-38 which is still yet the SAME context and the SAME sermon being preached where Peter clearly identifies all the JEWS as being of ALL the house of ISRAEL.
Acts 2:36-38.
“Therefore. let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God has made that same Jesus, whom YOU have crucified, both Lord and Christ. 37. Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, (Calling Peter, who said he was a JEW, a brother of the children of ISRAEL. They were not yet brothers in Jesus Christ as yet because they were asking what they must do to be saved) what shall we do? 38. Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
Now, if so be, that salvation is for ISRAEL ONLY and if so be the JEWS are NOT a part of the children of Israel then WHY does the Bible itself say that the gospel was to be preached to the JEWS first and the word ISRAEL is not even mentioned in any of those passages of Scripture that have the phrase “to the JEW first”? It is because the ENTIRE house of Israel had the SAME religion, the SAME LAW of Moses as the men of Judaea who were called JEWS. We, who believe in Jesus, are all called Christians because we have the SAME faith in the New Covenant established by the shed blood of Jesus. We may be from different SECTS or church denominations but we all have the same basic core faith in Jesus as the atonement for our sins. Salvation is to ALL races of people but the gospel was FIRST preached to the JEWS.
Romans 1:16.
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believes; to the Jew first, and ALSO to the Greek.”
Romans 2:9.
“Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that does evil, of the Jew first, and ALSO of the Gentile;”
Romans 2:10.
“But glory, honor, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and ALSO to the Gentile:”
The gospel was preached to the JEWS FIRST but yet there is not a word about ISRAEL in the context of any of these verses with the phrase “to the JEW first”. Could it be that the salvation of Israel ONLY Christians have it WRONG and the words “JEW” and “ISRAEL” are interchangeable? Could it be that those PEOPLE who are being CALLED Jews in the Bible are of the tribe of Judah which is one of the twelve tribes of ISRAEL and thus these PEOPLE who are called the JEWS in the Bible are Hebrew Israelites no matter what “NAME” they are called?
Acts 11:19.
“Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen traveled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews ONLY.”
This was right at the time that God was just beginning to turn the Gospel to the Gentiles. You see dear children of God, for the first 3 plus years, the gospel was preached ONLY to God’s chosen people, the Hebrew Israelites who were of BOTH the house of ISRAEL and ALSO of the house of JUDAH. And THEN, after Israel as a whole rejected Jesus as their Messiah, God turned the gospel to the Gentiles in order to PROVOKE Israel to jealousy.
Please read the following verses.
Romans 10:19.
“But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses said, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are NO people, AND by a foolish nation I will anger you.”
Romans 11:11.
“I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall (Speaking of God concluding ALL the children of Israel to be under sin and CUT OFF the natural Olive tree) salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.”
God concluded all the children of Israel to be under sin and they were all cut off the natural Olive tree because the Old Covenant ended at the cross. And the only way to God the Father now is through the NEW COVENANT. So the only way for ANY of Israel to be saved and grafted back into the ROOT of the Olive tree is to believe in Jesus as their Messiah. In Romans 11:11 Paul is quoting the prophecy written in Deuteronomy chapter 32 where we learn WHY God partially blinds Israel and turns the gospel to the Gentiles to anger Israel and provoke her to jealousy.
Deuteronomy 32:16-21.
“They (Speaking of the children of Israel) provoked him (Speaking of Almighty God) to jealousy with strange gods, with abominations they provoked Him to anger. (So Israel provoked God to anger first) 17. They sacrificed unto devils, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not. 18. Of the Rock that begat you, you are unmindful, and have forgotten God that formed you. 19. And when the LORD saw it, he abhorred them, because of the provoking of his sons, and of his daughters. 20. And he said, (Or God prophesied) I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward generation, children in whom there is no faith. 21. They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.”
Now, there are two nations being spoken of here in verse 21. There are the GENTILE people who are NOT a people of God and NOT being a descendant of Abraham in any way. And then there is the foolish nation who is of the seed of Abraham but NOT of the seed of promise who will make war with Israel in the last days to anger Israel. Obviously, the Gentile nation that REMAINS dead in their sins will not provoke Israel to jealousy in the last days. But those of us who are Gentiles that BELIEVE in Jesus as the atonement for our sins will indeed provoke Israel to jealousy when they SEE the Christians being raptured or caught up to be with our Messiah and they are left behind to suffer the wrath of Almighty God. Prophecy-2nd COMING of Jesus<<< Back to the study at hand to learn what the Bible ITSELF teaches us as to WHO the Jewish people are. Those Hebrew Israelites of the house of Judah who dwelt mainly in the southern part of the kingdom of Israel are called the JEWS. Any Bible scholar will tell you that being a Jew means that a person observes the Jewish RELIGION. They will also tell you that technically a NATURAL BORN Jew is a descendant from the tribe of Judah. And as we will see further on in this study in God’s word that Jesus is a descendant of the tribe of Judah who also calls himself a JEW. But for now, I want to share why I ask the question “Is Jesus a Jew?” and how I came to write this study. A dear brother in our Lord Jesus Christ wrote to me to tell me that the word “Jew” was invented and it did not exist in the days of Jesus. He went on to say that the Jews of today in the land of Israel are NOT true Hebrew Israelite people and that they are FAKE Jews. I answered him by saying that when Jesus returns he will fight against the armies that are surrounding the city of Jerusalem seeking to exterminate the JEWS. I said that these people in Israel could be called by the name, term, or title “ELEPHANTS” and it would not matter because God is sending His Son Jesus to deliver the REMNANT of His people ISRAEL who will be left alive after the great tribulation and the wrath of God. But he kept insisting that the Jews in Israel are NOT God’s people Israel and that God’s people Israel are still scattered all over the world. I then said to him, WHO are the remnant in the land of Israel that Jesus is coming to DELIVER? I mean some TRUE Hebrew Israelite MUST be living in the land of Israel to be fighting the Islamic Muslim armies who will one day surround the city of Jerusalem to seek to wipe the children of Israel off the face of the earth. He kept coming back with the same argument that the word “JEW” did not even exist until modern times. So I said, you are missing the whole point. There must be some TRUE Israelite Hebrew people in Israel in the last days otherwise Jesus is returning to deliver the WRONG people whom you are calling FAKE Jews. So I said think of it this way. Let us ASSUME that what we call elephants today only came about in modern times. In other words, the name “elephants” was only invented 100 years ago. And before that time of 100 years ago, this big gray animal was CALLED the big great beast. That is all the people knew to call this big gray animal in the days of Jesus. It is the SAME animal back then in the days of Jesus as it is today, but NOW that big gray beast is called an elephant. So then, back in the day of Jesus those of the tribe of Judah were called “men of Judah” or “men of Judea” “Judeans” but today those SAME people are now called the JEWS. And the Jews are part of the children of ISRAEL because they are one of the twelve tribes of Israel. But more than just being natural born children of the tribe of Judah there are ALSO those who BECAME Jews. And this speaks of the word “Jews” also meaning the FAITH of the Hebrew Israelite people. In other words, ANYONE could BECOME a part of the family of the people of ISRAEL by being CIRCUMCISED and OBEYING the Law of Moses. Please read the following verses which clearly teach us that any person of any nation or nationality could become a part of ISRAEL and be considered by Almighty God himself as a NATURAL BORN Hebrew Israelite. Genesis 17:10-14.
“This is my covenant, (Speaking of the covenant that God gave to Abraham) which you shall keep, between me and you and your seed after you; Every man child among you shall be circumcised. 11. And you shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a TOKEN (Or a SIGN, the EVIDENCE) of the covenant between me and you. 12. And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, (Strong’s #5236) which is NOT of your seed. 13. He that is born in your house, and he that is bought with your money, must need to be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant. 14. And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he has broken my covenant.”
So then, the SIGN or the EVIDENCE of being in a covenant relationship with Almighty God is the sign of CIRCUMCISION. And we, as Christians KEEP the law of CIRCUMCISION by our FAITH IN Jesus as the circumcision of our hearts to cut away the sins of the flesh. In other words, Jesus did NOT abolish the law of circumcision but rather Jesus FULFILLED the law of circumcision to become our TRUE circumcision of the heart made by Almighty God himself and NOT by our OWN hands of the flesh. The Hebrew word “NEKAR” that is translated as a foreigner is used 35 times in the Old Testament and not one time is it ever used to refer to a Hebrew Israelite. It always speaks of someone OTHER THAN the Hebrew Israelites and it is mostly used to refer to a false god of the heathen foreigners and their pagan religions.
Now please read Exodus 12:43,44.
“And the LORD said unto Moses and Aaron, This is the ordinance of the Passover: There shall no stranger (Strong’s #5236 which is NOT of your seed) eat thereof: 44. But every man's servant that is bought for money, when you have circumcised him, THEN shall he eat thereof.”
Then in a few verses later we read in verse 48 another Hebrew word translated as stranger which means the same thing as the Hebrew “nekar” but also carries the meaning of being a GUEST.
Exodus 12:48.
“And when a stranger (Strong’s #1616 meaning alien, or foreigner who is a guest or who DESIRES to eat the Passover and follow Yahweh) shall sojourn with you, and will keep the Passover to the LORD (Or who desires to eat the Passover with you then), let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is BORN in the land: for no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof.”
In other words, BEFORE a person who was NOT a natural born Hebrew could EAT the Passover lamb they MUST be CIRCUMCISED first and THEN they can eat the Passover Lamb. And Yahweh says they will be just as if they are God’s CHOSEN NATURAL BORN Hebrew people. This is a SHADOW of being BORN-AGAIN by the word of God FIRST before we can EAT or UNDERSTAND the Scriptures. Jesus did not abolish the feast of the Passover Lamb but rather Jesus FULFILLED the feast of the Passover Lamb to BECOME OUR TRUE Passover Lamb. The feast of eating the Passover lamb was a SHADOW pointing to the TRUE Passover Lamb, the Son of man, Jesus. So, we, as Christians, no longer keep the SHADOW because we ARE KEEPING the TRUE by our FAITH in Jesus as our Passover Lamb. Now read Numbers 15:29. “You shall have one law for him that sins through ignorance, both for him that is born among the children of Israel, and for the stranger (Strong’s #1616 meaning alien, or foreigner who is a guest or who DESIRES to follow Yahweh) that sojourns among them.” So clearly the Bible ITSELF teaches us that God has provided salvation for ALL of mankind. God’s plan of salvation from before the foundation of the world was ordained to be IN his SON Jesus, the Christ. Please read Ephesians 1:1-14. “Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ BY the WILL of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful IN Christ Jesus: 2. Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. 3. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places IN Christ: 4. According as he has chosen us IN him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5. Having predestined us unto the adoption of children BY Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, 6. To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he has made us accepted IN the beloved. 7. IN whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; 8. Wherein he has abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; 9. Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he has purposed in himself: 10. That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in ONE all things (Speaking of THE ALL of whosoever believes IN Jesus might be gathered together in ONE) IN Christ, (The word “things” is NOT in the original Greek text. The whole context of this passage of Scripture is speaking about God foreordained SALVATION being IN his SON Jesus, the Christ, that he might gather THE ALL who are saved together in ONE body of BELIEVERS IN Jesus Christ) BOTH which are in heaven (Speaking of the dead IN Jesus Christ who are present with our Lord in heaven under the altar awaiting their new glorified immortal bodies of flesh and blood), AND which are on earth;(Speaking of those Christians who will be alive and remain unto the coming of Jesus) even IN him: 11. IN whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things after the counsel of his own will: (What is the PURPOSE of the sacrifice of Jesus and the PREACHING of the Gospel of Jesus Christ? The purpose or WILL of Almighty God is to save all of mankind through each individual person BELIEVING the GOSPEL of salvation. The PURPOSE of the Gospel is to be PREACHED to the entire world so that WHOSOEVER, any person in the whole world, who BELIEVES might be saved) 12. That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted IN Christ. 13. IN whom you also trusted, AFTER that you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: IN whom also AFTER that you believed, you were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14. Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.” Almighty God Yahweh watches over his word to PERFORM what he has prophesied or spoken IN his WORD. We must consider the WHOLE counsel of God’s will that He purposes to do. And the whole counsel of God’s written word is for the gospel of salvation IN His SON Jesus Christ to be preached FIRST to the Jews and THEN to the Gentiles after Israel rejected Jesus as their Messiah. Please read John 4:22 from several translations where Jesus himself says that salvation is OF the JEWS in the King James Version but in other translations says that salvation is FOR the Jews, FROM the Jews, and or BECAUSE OF the Jews which to me speaks of the ONE JEW, Jesus the Christ, the Son of the living God. Here is John 4:22 from the King James Version.
“You (Speaking of the Samaritans) worship you know not what: WE know what WE worship: for salvation is OF the JEWS.”
Here is John 4:22 from the American Standard Version.
“You worship that which you know not: WE worship that which WE know; for salvation is FROM the JEWS.”
Here is John 4:22 from the Bible in Basic English.
“You give worship, but without knowledge of what you are worshiping: WE give worship to what WE have knowledge of: for salvation COMES FROM the JEWS.”
Here is John 4:22 from the New Century Version.
“You Samaritans worship something you don't understand. WE understand what WE worship, BECAUSE salvation COMES FROM the JEWS.”
Here is John 4:22 from the New Living Translation.
“You Samaritans know very little about the one you worship, while WE JEWS know all about him, for salvation COMES THROUGH the JEWS.”
So then, Jesus HIMSELF is saying that he is a JEW. But we also know that Jesus identifies himself as being one of the children of ISRAEL by saying OUR God is one Lord. Jesus was of the tribe of Judah which is one of the twelve tribes of the children of ISRAEL but yet Jesus also called himself a JEW. So according to the Bible itself, a JEW is indeed a Hebrew Israelite. And salvation came THROUGH the tribe of JUDAH.
Please read Mark 12:29.
“And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord OUR God is one Lord:” Now read Acts 7:37. “This is that Moses, which said unto the children of ISRAEL, A PROPHET shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of YOUR BRETHREN, like unto me; him shall you hear.” Then in Acts 3, we can clearly see that Jesus is that PROPHET, whom God promised ISRAEL, that he would raise up to be their Savior. Acts 3:20-23. And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: 21. Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began. 22. For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall you hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you. 23. And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.” The truth of the whole matter is that the preaching of the gospel was commissioned by Jesus to be preached to the WHOLE world so that or in order that WHOSOEVER of any human being who BELIEVES might be saved. The Gospel COMMISSIONED to the entire world.
Matthew 28:18-20.
“And Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. (Jesus was given all power AFTER the cross and his glorification to become the eternal Son of Almighty God to rule for Yahweh for 1000 years in the world to come) 19. Go you therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
So then, BEFORE the CROSS Jesus was not yet given all power and authority to preach the kingdom of God to the WHOLE world and that is WHY Jesus himself was sent ONLY to the lost sheep of Israel. But AFTER or BY the cross Jesus conquered death, hell, and the grave, and he NOW has the KEYS of death.
Revelation 1:18.
“I am he that lives, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.”
Right before Jesus ascended into heaven he commissioned his disciples to preach the gospel to the entire world beginning at Jerusalem.
Acts 1:8. “But you shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and you shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
Matthew 24:14. “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”
Mark 16:15. “And he said unto them, Go you into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
There are many more verses that prove beyond any shadow of a doubt that Jesus died for the sins of the WHOLE world which I cover in several other Bible studies. The main point of this study in God’s word is to show my readers that the Bible itself clearly teaches us that Jesus was indeed a JEW and a Hebrew Israelite. Jesus is called the lion of the tribe of JUDAH which again is one of the twelve tribes of Israel. And ALL twelve tribes of Israel are of the seed of promise through the seed of Jacob.
