THE DOCTRINE OF THE TRINITY

THE DOCTRINE OF THE TRINITY

What is the doctrine of the trinity? Is the doctrine of the trinity a sound Biblical teaching? The doctrine of the TRINITY basically states the following:

There is but one God comprised of three persons in this one God. These three persons which make up the Godhead are God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Thus God is a triune being. Each person of the trinity is co-equal and co-eternal.

The word TRINITY is comprised of two words; TRI meaning three and UNITY meaning one, thus TRI + UNITY or TRINITY means three in one and one in three.

I want to begin this study on the trinity by saying that I was taught the doctrine of the trinity all my life and in the beginning of my "personal" walk with the Lord I did not know that any other teaching even existed. All I knew for many years was the doctrine of the trinity as taught by the Catholic church, so this is what I believed.

Then when I started to come upon scriptures as I was reading the word of God that seemed to oppose the "DOCTRINE" or the teaching on the trinity on how Jesus the Son of God had ALWAYS existed in eternity past and that Almighty God the Father and his Son Jesus were EQUAL is EVERY way were nether is greater than or less than the other, then I would ask those in authority in the church whether it be a priest, pastor, or Sunday school, or Bible study teacher to explain these seemingly contradictory passages of scripture that I had been reading in God's word. And the truth is I never really got a straight answer that was convincingly backed by the word of God. The most common response that I repeated hot over and over was it is a “mystery of God” and that God's ways are higher than our ways; and God's ways are past finding out, so we have to accept this teaching of the trinity by faith even though it cannot be thoroughly explained or understood.

So I again accepted the trinity doctrine for awhile, until I came across so many contradictions that I could no longer BLINDLY accept this doctrine as being SOUNDLY BASED upon the word of TRUTH the Holy Bible, the word of Almighty God HIMSELF. I knew then and I still know now that God is NOT the author of confusion, and this doctrine of the trinity was becoming even more confusing with each question I asked of those whom I trusted to know more than I knew to explain these CONTRADICTIONS to me what these other verses meant that seemed to CONTRADICT the "doctrine" of the trinity and the deity of Jesus. When they could not give to me answers SOUNDLY based upon the word of God, rather than just talking in circles using metaphors like H2O being a liquid, a solid, and a gas, but still yet one element that sounded logical, but in reality did not explain these CONTRADICTIONS that I was seeing in the word of Almighty God. Then when man could not give me the answer to these contradictions I decided to search out the TRUTH for myself.

I had prayed to God many years prior to this point in my life and told God that I did not care who was right or who was wrong. I told God, "All I want to know is the TRUTH, the WHOLE TRUTH, and NOTHING but the TRUTH". I believe with all my being that the Holy Spirit was revealing to me the TRUTH of the WHOLE word of God little by little as he brought these contradictions before me from the word of God which clearly showed me that the way that the "DOCTRINE"of the trinity was written and taught was NOT soundly based upon the WHOLE word of God. You see, I know that the word of God itself does not contradict itself, but rather that all contradictions that arise come when only a PART of God's word is viewed intensely apart from the WHOLE of God's word.

Some call this "taking a scripture out of context" and saying it means something different than what the context from were the verse is found is actually saying. This is part of what I mean, but I also mean that a teaching or doctrine to be SOUNDLY based upon the word of God must NOT contradict ANY other part of the word of God as a WHOLE. In other words, the WHOLE word of God must NOT contradict the doctrine being taught. There may be two different verses that SEEM to contradict each other, but it is only because one verse or the other is not being INTERPRETED correctly.

As I said before, the Holy Spirit revealed to me a little bit here and a little bit there, piece by piece until I began to see an undeniable picture that was contrary to the picture that was painted of the trinity that I was taught all my life. At the first I was not seeking to prove or disprove any doctrine that I was taught, but rather I was seeking God to know how Jesus did the works that he did while he was on the earth. Please read the study called "JESUS THE SON OF MAN" for a deeper understanding of what I mean by this. For now I will just say that I asked God three questions; #1.Did Jesus do the works that  he did, BECAUSE Jesus was fully Almighty God in the flesh?,

#2. Did Jesus do the works that he did, BECAUSE Jesus was the SON of Almighty God?, or

#3. Did Jesus do the works that he did, BECAUSE Jesus was the Son of MAN who was ANOINTED of filled with the Holy Spirit of Almighty God?

Anyway this in-depth study in God word in turn revealed the following contradictions that I will share in depth as we continue this and many other studies on this same subject.

I was taught or rather heard of many different teachings but all were basically the same in essence, only varying a little here and little there. I was always taught that Jesus is Almighty God in the flesh being fully God and fully man at the same time. This teaching or doctrine is known by many as God incarnate, which simply means that Almighty God himself was made flesh, as in, Almighty God existing in human form. but yet still remained fully Almighty God. Some taught further that Jesus had two natures; one nature being FULLY God and the other nature being FULLY human. Others taught that Almighty God became man, but yet at the same time this man Jesus was Almighty God who was clothed in a human body. In other words, Jesus is Almighty God HIMSELF that has put on a body of FLESH like we would put of clothes, hence Almighty God IN the flesh. And yet others taught that Jesus was half God and half man seeing his Father was Almighty God and his mother was human. But most mainstream churches that I have come to know say that Jesus is 100% God and 100% man at the SAME time.

When I saw all this controversy in the doctrine of the deity of Jesus on how much God and how much man Jesus was as I studied this subject it caused me to question even more whether or not those that I placed my trust in to teach me the word of God really knew what the word of God actually taught. I mean I really struggled with thoughts like could I ever truly trust what I was being taught in church anymore? Are those in authority truly STUDYING God's word, OR are they just merely REPEATING what they themselves have been TAUGHT by others who simply REPEATED what they were TAUGHT and so forth and so on.

I became like those men in Berea in Acts 17:11 who SEARCHED the word of Almighty God DAILY to see if what I was being TAUGHT in church was in fact the TRUTH of the WHOLE word of Almighty God. And as I said before, I did not care who was right or who was wrong, all I wanted to know was the TRUTH, the WHOLE TRUTH, and NOTHING but the TRUTH.

So as I said before I wrote down three questions, which I believe were inspired of the Holy Spirit as you will see if you continue in your quest for the TRUTH.

                 # 1. Did Jesus do the works he did as God in the flesh?

#2. Did Jesus do the works that he did as the Son of God?

#3. Did Jesus do the works that he did as the Son of man anointed by the Holy Spirit of God

Again please read the study “JESUS THE SON OF MAN” for the outcome of this quest and how I came to the conclusion that the word of God PLAINLY teaches that Jesus did the works that he did as the Son of MAN that was ANOINTED by Almighty God the Father with the Holy Spirit of God, the very SAME Holy Spirit that is made available to each and every believer. Please also read the study called “JESUS THE CHRIST” for a deeper understanding that everything that Jesus did while he was on the earth was as a mere man just as you and I through the ANOINTING or the infilling of the Holy Spirit. One of the meanings word “Christ” means the anointed one. Remember the words of Jesus who taught us in THESE WORKS that I DO YOU shall DO ALSO !

"Verily, verily, (or TRULY, TRULY) I say unto YOU, He that BELIEVES on me, the WORKS that I do shall he do ALSO; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father."

Are you a BELIEVER in Jesus? The the SAME Holy Spirit that DWELT IN Jesus that now DWELLS IN YOU will EMPOWER YOU to DO the SAME works the Jesus did. Is this not what Jesus HIMSELF says? If you desire a deeper understanding on who you ARE in Jesus Christ and the AUTHORITY over the enemy Satan the devil in the mighty NAME of Jesus that you as a BELIEVER have been GIVE to use to defeat and OVERCOME the enemy, the please read the following studies; "THE POWER AND THE AUTHORITY OF THE BELIEVER" and "JESUS THE NAME ABOVE ALL NAMES"

I also want YOU, the reader, and seeker of the TRUTH, to KNOW that is was THROUGH this SAME Holy Spirit that the MAN Jesus lived HIS LIFE WITHOUT SIN, and WE as believers have this SAME Holy Spirit living IN US. Please read Hebrews 9:14 which teaches us that Jesus lived his life WITHOUT sin and was empowered by the eternal Holy Spirit of Almighty God that DWELT IN him to offer himself as a sacrifice for mankind on the cross.

"How much more shall the blood of Christ, who (speaking of the MAN Jesus) THROUGH the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot (or WITHOUT SIN) to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?"

The word of TRUTH teaches us that the WORKS that JESUS DID that YOU, the reader who BELIEVES shall DO ALSO! I do not know about you but I got tired of sinning. That which I did not want to do i found myself doing over and over and that which I should be doing I did not do. The one day i got so fed up with sinning that I cried out to God and asked him WHY I could not OVERCOME these things in my life that I wanted so desperately to over come. I knew that the word of God taught that sin shall NOT have DOMINION over me, but yet it seemed that no matter how hard I tried I could not overcome certain things in my life. I knew that 1 Peter 2:21-23 teaches us that we as Christians are CALLED to FOLLOW the EXAMPLE that Jesus set for us who did NO SIN.

"For even hereunto were you CALLED: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an EXAMPLE, that you should FOLLOW his steps:

22. Who DID NO SIN, neither was guile found in his mouth:

23. Who, when he was reviled , reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judges righteously"

You see, the MAN Jesus knew that he was NOT Almighty God in the flesh and the he needed to COMMIT himself to his God and Father to help him OVERCOME SIN and to OFFER himself on the cross without sin. And Jesus the MAN did these WORKS of living WITHOUT SIN THROUGH the power of the Holy Spirit of Almighty God that DWELT IN him. Please read the study called "HOW TO LIVE YOUR LIFE FREE FROM SIN!" But for now let us get back on the topic at hand.

Philippians 2:6-11 CLEARLY and PLAINLY teaches that Jesus STRIPPED himself of his glory and every advantage that he had being of divine nature and then took upon himself the very NATURE of man, flesh and blood, like as we are. I will show you this verse in several translations of the Bible.

Today's English version of Philippians 2:6-11 says,

He (referring to Jesus) had the very NATURE of God, but he did not think that by force he should try to become EQUAL with God.

INSTEAD, of his OWN free will he gave it ALL UP and took the NATURE of a servant. He became like MAN, and appeared in HUMAN likeness.

He was humbled and walked the path of obedience to death, his death on the cross.

For THIS reason (Jesus becoming obedient unto death) God raised him to the highest place above, and GAVE the name that is greater than any other name.

And so in honor of the NAME of Jesus, all beings in heaven, on earth, and in the world below will fall on their knees,

And all will openly proclaim that Jesus Christ is the LORD, to the glory of God the Father.”

I want you to notice several things here in this verse before we look at it from some other translations to get an even more clearer understanding that while Jesus ONCE had the very NATURE of Almighty God when the WORD was WITH God in the BEGINNING we see in this passage of scripture that INSTEAD of HOLDING ON to this DIVINE NATURE the Word that WAS Almighty God was MADE or BECAME FLESH. You see, the Word gave it ALL UP to become 100% HUMAN, and the Word did not even THINK that he should by force try to become EQUAL with Almighty God the Father when he BECAME a MAN like you and I.

You see, Lucifer thought within himself to exalt himself, his throne, his position of authority above Almighty God the Father's throne. But Jesus did not even THINK to be EQUAL with HIS GOD and Father Almighty God.

To better understand that Jesus, the Son of God was, is, and ever shall be under and subject to his God and Father, Almighty God I want you to think of Almighty God as the SUPREME and HIGHEST AUTHORITY beside which there is no other AUTHORITY higher than Almighty God the FATHER. In other words, Almighty God the Father is THE ALMIGHTY GOD beside whom there is no other God or god that is HIGHER than him.
You see, my dear brother and sister in our lord Jesus Christ, the word of TRUTH teaches us that  Almighty God the Father is the God of gods in Deuteronomy 10:17.

"For the LORD your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regards not persons, nor takes reward:"

Please know and understand that Almighty God is the one who GIVES AUTHORITY and there is NO AUTHORITY that is NOT given EXCEPT it is GIVEN BY Almighty God. That is to say all authority is established by Almighty God himself. Or in other words, Almighty God set up UNDER himself lesser “gods” or "lessor authorities".
Now this does not mean that there is more than ONE God, as in more than one Almighty God. There can be and always will be only ONE Almighty the most high God, the Father, or the most high as being the HIGHEST AUTHORITY.
The word “besides” in the verse in Isaiah that says there is no God BESIDES me can also be translated as there is no God “HIGHER THAN” me. I know there is more to the meaning of the word "God" than just having the HIGHEST AUTHORITY, but looking at it this way helps clear up a lot of confusion and does not really diminish the meaning of the word God. The apostles and the early church realized that there were many which were called "gods" or lesser "authorities" that were under Almighty God, the FATHER.

Take a look at 1 Corinthians 8:5,6 for a moment and then we will come back and finish going through the other translations of Philippians 2:6-11.

 1 Corinthians 8:5,6 says,

For though there are MANY that are CALLED gods, (authorities) whether in heaven and in earth, as there be gods many, and lords many.

BUT to us (Christians or believers) there is but ONE God, the FATHER (who is the ALMIGHTY and Most High God, the HIGHEST AUTHORITY, the God who is OVER all other Gods even his Son Jesus), of whom all things are, and we in him;(now pay close attention and also take notice that to us  there is also ONE LORD who the word of TRUTH plainly says is Jesus) AND ONE Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.”

The Bible CLEARLY defines the ONE true and ONLY wise God to be the FATHER the Almighty and most high God, the SUPREME and highest AUTHORITY above which or beside which there is no other authority or "god" that is higher.

You see, the Bible teaches us that there are lesser “gods”, those with lesser AUTHORITY. Or more precisely there are other gods who are SUBJECT and UNDER the AUTHORITY of the one true and ONLY ALMIGHTY God the FATHER. The US there is but ONE God, the FATHER. AND also to us there is but ONE LORD our Lord Jesus Christ. The word that is translated as “God” and also as “god” in the original Greek language is “theos”. And sometimes this word “theos” has been mistranslated and given the capital “G”  when it should have been a small "g" and should have read "god" rather than "God", which lets the reader know that this means Almighty God the FATHER and not one of the lesser “gods”. So when one who is unaware that there are errors in the translation of God's word into English and other languages they sometimes are mislead to believe a teaching or doctrine that is false and in contradiction to the WHOLE word of God, such as the trinity and deity of Jesus.
You see, when Satan is called the “god” of this world the SAME Greek word “theos" which we can see being used in  is translated correctly, because Satan or rather Lucifer before his rebellion was GIVEN AUTHORITY by Almighty God to rule and reign. Now let us take a look at Hebrews 1:8 where Almighty God the Father says to Jesus his Son, “Your throne, O God, (“theos”) is forever and ever...” You see my dear brothers and sister in our Lord Jesus the Christ, in this verse in the original language the Greek word "theos" is mistranslated with a capital "G" as "God" when it should have been translated as "god" leading many to be mislead into believing that Almighty God the Father is calling his Son ALMIGHTY God, rather than god, as in, one who has most definitely has authority, but authority that is lessor than that of Almighty God or more precisely a god who has been GIVEN ALL authority EXCEPT authority OVER ALMIGHTY God HIMSELF. Please keep reading and you will see why I say this.

Those that teach that Jesus is God, as in, ONE and the SAME as THE ALMIGHTY use this verse to support what they teach. This teaching is called oneness or modalism. But even those who teach the "DOCTRINE" of the trinity ALSO use this verse to try and prove that Jesus is THE ALMIGHTY God in the FLESH.

However, in LIGHT of the WHOLE word of God this deduction is also false, because if Jesus the SON of ALMIGHTY God the FATHER were in fact THE ALMIGHTY and MOST HIGH God as the "DOCTRINE" of the trinity teaches, then HOW is it that Almighty God the FATHER is the GOD OVER Jesus?  You see my dear brothers and sister in our Lord Jesus the CHRIST if you keep this verse in the CONTEXT of where it is found and keep reading you will CLEARLY see that Almighty God the FATHER is the God OF Jesus and is OVER his Son Jesus. That is to say that Jesus is UNDER and SUBJECT unto Almighty God his God and Father the MOST HIGH God. To US there is ONLY ONE God, meaning only one ALMIGHTY God who IS the FATHER and Jesus his SON is our LORD.

Hebrews 1:8 along with verse 9 says,

But unto the Son he (Almighty God the FATHER) says, Your throne, O God, ( or to the SON Almighty God the FATHER say, your throne O "theos" or your throne O “god”) is for ever and ever: a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of your kingdom.

You (Jesus, my Son YOU) have loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore (or for this REASON) God (Almighty God your FATHER) even YOUR GOD, has ANOINTED you with the oil of gladness above your fellows.”

I will go into this topic a little deeper in the study called THERE IS BUT ONE GOD!. But for now please KNOW that the FATHER is Almighty God, the most high God and Jesus is UNDER his God the one true and ONLY ALMIGHTY God the Father and that Jesus his SON is given the title LORD. Again being called "Lord" can be confusing, because in the Old Testament the word “Lord” can and for the most part does in fact refer to Almighty God the FATHER, but not always. Please read the study above along with the study called "OUR GOD IS ONE!" for a deeper understanding that there is ONLY ONE ALMIGHTY God and that he CHOSE to EXALT his SON Jesus to sit on his own right hand to RULE and REIGN by his side. In other words, Jesus IS GOD, but Jesus is NOT THE ALMIGHTY God. Can you not see those of you who believe and teach the "DOCTRINE" of the trinity that when you try and make Jesus to be THE ALMIGHTY God you are actually making Jesus to BE TH FATHER and this CONTRADICTS your own "DOCTRINE".

Yes, there is now doubt that the word of TRUTH teaches us that Jesus IS God, but this SAME word of TRUTH also teaches us that ALMIGHTY God the FATHER is the God OVER his Son Jesus.

Now back to Philippians 2:6-11.

We have already seen that Jesus, even though he once had a divine nature he did not thing to try and become EQUAL with his God and Father. So from this it is clear that Jesus is NOT one and the SAME as the Father, nor is Jesus EQUAL with the Father as many of us have been taught by the "doctrine" of the trinity.

Next I want you to notice that Jesus had his OWN free will. This verse says that Jesus GAVE UP his divine nature and became a MAN to be a SERVANT to God and he humble himself, that is to say, Jesus put under his OWN will and become obedient to die on the cross as his Father WILLED him to do.

It was for this very REASON of the OBEDIENCE of Jesus to DO his Fathers WILL that Almighty God EXALTED or raised Jesus his Son to become the highest place of authority next only to himself. In other words, ALMIGHTY God the Father was, is and ever shall be the HIGHEST authority, that is to says, the FATHER is THE one true and ONLY ALMIGHTY and  most high God.

So again, to US, as the word of TRUTH, the Holy Bible CLEARLY and PLAINLY teaches, there is but ONE God, which is the FATHER, and also there is only ONE Lord, which is Jesus Christ the SON of the living and only true wise God. In other words. Almighty God the Father is at the top above which there is no other god that is higher. The FATHER is ABOVE all other God's INCLUDING his SON Jesus.

Then in the next part of this verse we see that Almighty God the Father raised or exalted Jesus from a lower state or position to BECOME or to be EXALTED to the NEXT highest place or position of authority, which is to become the ONE and only Lord of lords. There are many that are called lords, but to us there is but ONE Lord. Jesus who is seated NEXT to the Almighty God the Father on his FATHER'S throne at the right hand of the Almighty God hos God and Father.

The last point I want you to notice in this verse is that every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess or call Jesus LORD and NOT God, as in one and the SAME as Almighty God the Father. The word of God clearly says that all beings shall call Jesus LORD to the GLORY of God the FATHER. There are verses in the Bible that SEEM to say that Jesus or the Word is God, but remember this word TRANSLATED as God with a capital "G" can ALSO be translated as "god" with a lower case "g" signifying a "lessor god" or one who has lessor authority and will always have ALMIGHTY God the FATHER reigning OVER them while they reign over whatever Almighty God GIVES them authority to reign over.

When we praise and give thanks to or for Jesus we bring GLORY and praise to Almighty God the Father. When we honor the the Son we honor Almighty God the Father. Jesus said whatsoever you do to the least of these my brethren you do unto ME. We, the "brethren" of Jesus are not one and the SAME being as Jesus. Nor are we EQUAL with Jesus who has now been EXALTED and GIVEN a name above every name. But while Jesus was on the earth, BEFORE he was EXALTED BY  his God the Father he was a MAN just like you and I, which was ANOINTED by the his God and Father with the Holy Spirit, the SAME Holy Spirit that is made available to EVERY believer.

Now lets read Philippians 2:6-11 from the Phillips Modern English which says it this way,

For he (referring to Jesus) who had always been God (theos, God or god) by NATURE, did NOT CLING (or hold on) to his PRIVILEGES as God's equal, but STRIPPED himself of EVERY ADVANTAGE by consenting to become a slave by NATURE and being born a MAN. And PLAINLY seen as a HUMAN BEING, he humbled himself by living a life of utter obedience, to the point of death, and the death he died was of a common criminal. That is WHY God has NOW lifted him up to the heights, and has GIVEN him a NAME beyond all names, so that at the NAME of Jesus every knee shall bow whether in heaven of earth or under the earth. And that is why every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is LORD, to the glory of God the Father.”

This verse clearly states that Jesus STRIPPED himself of any and ALL his DIVINE NATURE or EVERY ADVANTAGE that he had being at God's side and BECAME or was born MAN, a HUMAN BEING, and was PLAINLY seen as a MAN.In other words, the WORD that once had BEEN of a divine NATURE was now STRIPPED of the divine NATURE and BECAME or was MADE into a human NATURE.

The Bible clearly teaches that Jesus was tempted in ALL points like as we are, that is to say Jesus became a MAN, a human being with FLESH and BLOOD NATURE just like you and I so that he could feel pain the SAME way that we feel pain, and to suffer temptation the SAME way we suffer temptation. Jesus was 100% FLESH like as we are STRIPPED himself of his divine NATURE, because the word of TRUTH teaches us that God CANNOT be TEMPTED with evil.
You see, if Jesus was truly FULLY God while he was in the FLESH, that is to say that Jesus is ALMIGHTY God in the flesh, then this would not only CONTRADICT the word of God in Philippians 2:6-11, but also would CONTRADICT the Bible in James 1:13 which clearly and PLAINLY states that God CANNOT be tempted.

Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God CANNOT be TEMPTED with evil, neither tempts he any man.”

No, Jesus was NOT ALMIGHTY God while he was in the FLESH, being BOTH fully Almighty God and fully man at the SAME time, but rather Jesus was, as the word of God PLAINLY teaches, a MAN like you and me completely void or stripped of his divine nature and every ADVANTAGE he would have had if he would have CLUNG to his divine nature and not have become FULLY MAN like you and I.

Nor is Jesus THE ALMIGHTY God NOW up in heaven, as in, being one and the SAME as the Father as ONE BEING. Jesus is still God's SON and is still under and SUBJECT to HIS GOD and Father the Almighty and most high God. In other words, once the WORD was MADE flesh and given the NAME Jesus, then Jesus will ALWAYS be Jesus, and his God and Father will always be his God and Father.

Now please read the Revised Standard Version of Philippians 2:6-8 which says,

Who though he was in the FORM of God, did not count EQUALITY with God something to be grasped, but he EMPTIED himself, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of MEN. And being found in HUMAN FORM he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even death on the cross.”

The New International version of Philippians 2:6 says,

Who being in the very nature God, did NOT consider EQUALITY with God something to be grasped.”

Jesus had the very NATURE of God, which is the DIVINE nature, but this does not make Jesus to be ONE and the SAME being as Almighty God the Father as some falsely teach. Jesus did not even count or consider himself to be EQUAL with God as the trinity doctrine falsely states that “God the Son is CO-EQUAL with God the Father”. Jesus was never EQUAL with Almighty God and is not ONE and the SAME being as ALMIGHTY God the Father. Jesus is God's SON as the Bible CLEARLY states in many multiple places.

Jesus never made a single statement in the entire Bible the he is God, as in, one and the same as Almighty God. The disciples that walked with Jesus, and who sat under his teachings in person and who were eye witnesses of his life, ministry, death and resurrection never wrote of Jesus as being God, as in, the Almighty God the Father or even EQUAL with the Father.

But on the other hand we DO FIND that the writers of the New Testament CLEARLY and PLAINLY stating the Almighty Gos the FATHER is GREATER than his Son Jesus. It is Jesus HIMSELF that CLEARLY teaches us that the Father is GREATER than himself.

The writers of the New testament and the early church made clear the understanding of the DIFFERENCE between God the Father the Almighty and most high God AND his SON Jesus Christ our Lord. I cover many of these verses in “THERE IS BUT ONE GOD” if you would like to have a deeper understanding of the difference between God the Father and Jesus his Son.

I find no SOLID BIBLICAL evidence of the "doctrine" of the trinity in the word of God as it is stated by the mainstream church. In other words, CHANGE that WAY this doctrine is WRITTEN and THEN it will be BIBLICAL, but as it is PRESENTLY written this "DOCTRINE" of the trinity is NOT Biblical. There is absolutely no CLEAR teaching of this doctrine in the Bible that PLAINLY teaches us that Jesus and the Father are ONE, as in, the SAME BEING.  However, the word of God is clear on the unity of AGREEMENT between God the Father and his Son Jesus.

When Jesus said, I and my Father are ONE he did not infer that he was one and the SAME being with or as his Father, and that he himself was Almighty God, but rather this verse means that they AGREED as ONE. If this verse is kept in the context of where it is found you will readily see that Jesus PLAINLY states the the Father is GREATER than ALL, which would include himself as well. Then later on Jesus prays to the Father and asks that all who believe on him would be ONE even as Jesus and Almighty God the Father are ONE.

So then, if Jesus truly meant that he was Almighty God when he said I and my father are ONE, then Jesus ALSO meant that we as Christians will one day become Almighty God and be One and the same being as God Almighty. You see my dear brothers and sisters in our Lord Jesus Christ, the EXACT SAME Greek word “heis” is used in both passages of scripture, which while this word means one it also means AGREE AS ONE. Jesus and Almighty God the Father were in AGREEMENT as ONE.

All the confusion of the teaching of the doctrine of the trinity comes from what I call “tunnel vision”. What I mean by this is that on ANY matter of doctrine, no matter what it may be, is embraced by keeping it in view as looking through a tunnel. It is ONLY then that these verses  SEEM to teach this doctrine of the trinity and deity of Jesus.
You see, if one ONLY focuses on one scripture or even a few scriptures together to teach a doctrine and does not compare their conclusion or deductions with the WHOLE word of God to see if there are any CONTRADICTIONS, then the teaching or doctrine may not be a SOUND or even BIBLICAL teaching  even though it sounds logically in the light of the few scriptures that are being used. So then, if verses come to your mind which seem to contradict what you were taught, then it may be that the Holy Spirit is showing you that you were taught wrong and he wants you to take a closer look at the WHOLE word of God. Trust me when I say that this doctrine of the trinity is not the only  teaching by which the church has been deceived by the adversary, the devil.

My point is this, there are many multiple contradictions with the WHOLE word of God with the "doctrine" of the trinity and the deity of Jesus. It has been a highly controversial and debated doctrine ever since it started to come into being. This mere fact ALONE should cause us ALL to be suspicious and want to seek out the WHOLE word of God to see if we are being TAUGHT correctly.

If you search the history of the doctrine of the trinity you will find that a fellow named Tertullian was the first to coin the word “trinitas” which is where the word “trinity” is derived. However, Tertullian's teaching on the trinity was quite different than what the "doctrine" has EVOLVED to become today. Tertullian only defined that the were three separate persons that we in unity working together, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Tertullian never claimed the Father, son and the Holy Spirit to be CO-EQUAL or CO-ETERNAL, or even to be three persons in one God or one God in three persons. He saw them as three different person simply working together in unity. H never wrote things like God the Father and God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. This all came much later and ONLY AFTER very intense and much disputing over this man made "DOCTRINE". And if you do study this out for yourself pay attention to WHO killed WHO and the WHO that were willing to contend for the faith and even die before they would recant and confess this "DOCTRINE" to be true.

But some how Tertullians writings set the stage for the unity of Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit to somehow EVOLVE into a departure from the word of God into the false doctrine of the trinity that teaches that Jesus is Almighty God, fully God and fully man at the SAME time, which CONTRADICTS many multiple verses of Scripture that CLEARLY and PLAINLY demonstrate that Almighty God the Father is the GOD of Jesus and is over his Son Jesus. It is not reasonable nor logical to say that Almighty God is GREATER than HIMSELF, or Almighty God is GREATER than Almighty God. And this is exactly what this doctrine of the trinity is saying in reality when it states that Jesus IS THE ALMIGHTY God, because Jesus HIMSELF states that the FATHER is GREATER than I. Just plug in the words, Almighty God in place of Jesus or I, because this is what the doctrine of the trinity is saying, Jesus IS THE ALMIGHTY God. We must dear brothers and sister in our Lord Jesus Christ use the WHOLE word of god when testing to see is a doctrine if  truly BIBLICAL and SOUND.

Therefore in the using of any isolated verse of scripture to try show that the doctrine of the trinity is based on the word of God is to say that none of the scriptures that clearly show that Jesus is SUBJECT to his God and Father mean nothing at all. It would be like saying I do not care what the rest of the word of God says, this verse right here in John 1:1 says that the Word was God and the Word was made flesh, which we know is Jesus, so therefore Jesus is God, case closed.
You see, every scripture that is used by those that teach the false doctrine of the trinity can be interpreted another way that does not contradict the word of God in any way. You just have to be willing to receive the TRUTH and not keep trying to change the TRUTH to fit what you have been wrongly taught to believe. For a deeper understanding of John 1:1 please read the study called "John 1:1 THE WORD WAS GOD".

If one would take a look at the history of the development of the doctrine of the trinity and how it took several hundred years to develop to what is being taught today coupled with the fact that there have always been believers who opposed its teaching from the very beginning, even to the giving their very lives for the defense of the TRUTH, then you can see that it merits looking into to see if you have been DECEIVED by the enemy.

The word of God WARNS us to try the spirit to see whether it is of God. In other words, we are to try, test or prove the teachings of doctrines that we are being taught to see if they are of God. This verse goes on to say, if the spirit, that is to say the teaching or doctrine says that Jesus is NOT come in the FLESH, then this spirit or teaching is NOT of God, but of the devil and is an ANTICHRIST.

Think about the word Antichrist. “Anti ” means against, and one of the meanings of the word “Christ” means the anointing. So any teaching that is against or opposes the anointing of the Holy Spirit of God is NOT of God.

Well in essence teaching that Jesus is Almighty God in the FLESH is saying that Jesus is ALREADY Almighty God so why then does Almighty God need to be anointed of Almighty God. If Jesus is truly Almighty God as some teach, then why would God need to anoint himself with his own Spirit. Remember the word "Christ" means the anointed one. So teaching that Jesus is Almighty God in the flesh is in reality saying that Jesus was NOT the CHRIST or the anointed one, because he was already Almighty God in the flesh. In other words, anti-Christ, whereby anti means against or does not need the ANOINTING of the Holy Spirit.

The truth is Jesus is NOT Almighty God in the flesh as some FALSELY teach, but rather Jesus is the Son of God, who became the Son of MAN, who was then ANOINTED by Almighty God the Father with the Holy Spirit to live his life without sin and do the mighty works that he did while he was on the earth.
Lets us take a closer look at one of the most used scriptures to try and prove the doctrine of the trinity despite all the other verses of scripture that PLAINLY contradict that Jesus is God, fully God and fully man at the same time.

John 1:1 says,

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

Then those that teach the doctrine of the trinity quote verse 14 which says,

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”

Then they CONCLUDE or INTERPRET these verses to say or mean that, “Since the Bible says that the Word was God and that the Word was made flesh, and we know that Jesus is the Word, then God is made flesh, therefore Jesus is Almighty God in the flesh, FULLY God and fully man at the SAME time. Then they claim that the Bible CLEARLY teaches that Jesus is Almighty God in the FLESH.”

Now if one FOCUSES on this scripture alone or along with a few other scriptures used by those that teach the doctrine of the trinity and do NOT consider all the many multiple verses and passages of scripture that PLAINLY shown the Jesus is the SON of Almighty God and is SUBJECT unto his God and Father, then one can be DECEIVED into believing that these verse do actually teach that Jesus is Almighty God is the FLESH, as in, one and the SAME with Almighty God the Father. But then this CONTRADICTS their own doctrine that states that Jesus the Son is NOT the FATHER. What becomes of to US there is but ONE God, THE FATHER, AND one LORD Jesus Christ?

The fact remains that there are many multiple verses, which CANNOT be interpreted in any other way than what they CLEARLY say, and this clear plain meaning of these verses CONTRADICT this teaching of the trinity. Therefore one has to take a CLOSER look at the verses that are used to try and prove that Jesus is ALMIGHTY God, being FULLY God and fully man, but yet still clinging to his divine nature as being ONE and the SAME as Almighty God the Father. If Jesus is THE ALMIGHTY God in the FLESH, then Jesus IS the FATHER. If the Word that WAS God REMAINED God when it was MADE flesh, the Jesus is ALMIGHTY God the FATHER HIMSELF in the FLESH, which CONTRADICTS the DOCTRINE of the trinity.

So what does John 1:1 actually teach? If you take a closer look you will see that this verse says,

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word WAS God.”

Notice that it says that the Word WAS God and NOT the Word is God. There is no argument that the Word was WITH God the Father in the beginning when the foundations of the world were laid. And there is no argument that the Word had a DIVINE NATURE as Almighty God. So then, the Word WAS divine at the time the Word was with Almighty God in the beginning, but when God SENT his Word into the earth then Word BECAME flesh. In other words, the Word was no longer DIVINE as it WAS when it was with the Father, but rather WAS divine and then BECAME flesh. The Word was MADE flesh and dwelt among us.

And this AGREES EXACTLY with Philippians 2:6-11 which CLEARLY and PLAINLY states that whatever FORM he had he STRIPPED himself of EVERY ADVANTAGE and BECAME a HUMAN BEING. In other words, Jesus was BORN into this world as a HUMAN BEING who NOW NEEDED to be ANOINTED of his God and Father with the Holy Spirit in order to DO the WORKS that hid God and Father sent him to do. Jesus said I can do NOTHING OF MYSELF, the Father IN ME HE DOES the WORK.

This is another way of interpreting this verse of scripture that does NOT conflict with any other verse or passage in the word of God. I am not saying this is the exact meaning of this verse, for I have heard other ways of interpreting this verse as well that also do NOT conflict or contradict any other portion of the word of God. If you word like to read more about this verse for a deeper understanding then please read the studies "THE DEITY OF JESUS AND THE TRINITY"  and "JOHN 1:1, THE WORD WAS GOD"

So in conclusion, are you ABSOLUTELY sure you have not been DECEIVED in any way by the teaching on the doctrine of the trinity. Think about the questions that came into your mind through the years and how you reasoned away the confusion by saying something like, “Well I may not understand it completely or be able to explain it to others plainly, but some of these verses that I have been taught I just cannot see that they can mean anything other than that Jesus is ALMIGHTY God in the FLESH, so the doctrine of the trinity has to be right.”

I know where you are, I have been there. I was deceived for many years by this false doctrine of the trinity, and still would be to this day, if I had not trusted in the Holy Spirit of God to lead and guide me into all TRUTH. It is alright to question what you have been taught. The men of Berea in the book of Acts searched the word of God daily to find out if what they were being taught was the TRUTH, and the Bible calls them MORE NOBLE that the believers in Thessalonica who by implication did not search the word of God for THEMSELVES but blindly accepted all that they were taught as being the TRUTH.

For myself I have SEARCHED the scriptures and I personally have NOT found so much as one single verse of scripture that COMMANDS us to BELIEVE that Jesus IS ALMIGHTY GOD. However I have found several verses of scripture that CLEARLY teach us that we must BELIEVE that Jesus is the SON of Almighty God.

1 John 4:14,15 teaches us that Almighty God the Father SENT his SON into the world to be the savior of the world and if we CONFESS that Jesus is the SON of God, then the Father will dwell in us.

"And we have seen and do testify that the Father SENT the SON to be the Savior of the world.

15. Whosoever shall CONFESS that Jesus is the SON of God, God dwells in him, and he in God."

Here are some over verses that PLAINLY teach us to BELIEVE that Jesus is the SON of Almighty God and none of them ever HINT that we must believe that Jesus IS THE ALMIGHTY GOD.

  • John 6:69 KJV

"And we BELIEVE and are SURE that you are that Christ (or that you are that ANOINTED ONE), the Son of the living God."

  • John 9:35 KJV

"Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Do you BELIEVE on the Son of God?"
  • John 11:27 KJV

"She said unto him, Yea, Lord: I BELIEVE that you are the Christ (or that you are the ANOINTED ONE whom Almighty God has sent who is), the Son of God, which should come into the world."

  • John 20:31 KJV

"But these are written, that (or so that) you might BELIEVE that Jesus is the Christ (or that Jesus is the ANOINTED ONE of Almighty God), the Son of God; and that BELIEVING (this TRUTH that Jesus is the SON of God whom he has ANOINTED) you might have life through his name"

  • Acts 8:37 KJV

"And Philip said, If you BELIEVE with all your heart, you may. And he answered and said, I BELIEVE that Jesus Christ is the Son of God."

  • 1 John 5:13 KJV

"These things have I written unto you that BELIEVE on the name of the Son of God; that you may know that you have eternal life, and that (or so that) you may BELIEVE (or CONTINUE to BELIEVE) on the name of the Son of God."

Now ask yourself the question, Did the Old Testament prophesy of Almighty God HIMSELF coming in the FLESH? Or do the prophecies in the Old testament foretell of Almighty God RAISING UP a prophet FROM AMONG the PEOPLE?

Thanks for reading. May God bless you richly as you continue to seek the TRUTH of the WHOLE word of Almighty God. Below are some other verses that are used to try and support the doctrine of the trinity and the deity of Jesus. There may be other verses which you may be having trouble seeing any other way than what you were dogmatically taught over and over for so long, but I assure you that each and every verse used by those who teach the doctrine of the trinity does indeed have a different meaning that does NOT CONTRADICT any other part of God's word. If there is a verse that I have not listed please do not hesitate to write and let me know. Some verse are included in others studies and they may not appear as an individual study. If there is a verse of verses that you seem to struggle with only being able to see the doctrine of the trinity when you read this verse, then please search out the truth be listening to the other side of the controversy. No one can arrive at the truth by hearing only ONE side of the controversy. I only present you with ALL the evidence that I myself have found and leave it to you to decide what you want to believe.
