Hh-1. THE AMAZING NUMBER 7!

What is the attraction to the number 7? It may surprise you as to the overwhelming number of people who claim the number 7 to be their favorite number. Do a survey yourself some time among your friends and co-workers. The number 7 also appears in many titles of books and movies. For instance, Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs, 7 Brides for 7 Brothers and 7th Heaven. There are just 7 Seas and only 7 Wonders of the world. Rome is known as the city on 7 hills. So why is there all this fascination with the number 7?

If you have ever read the Bible or even just parts of it, you have no doubt come across the number 7. The word “seven” is found 463 times in the Bible, which is a PRIME number. For example, the first time that the word “seven” is found it is written as EIGHT HUNDRED SEVEN which is NOT the “NUMBER” seven but rather it is the number 807. So then, the word “SEVEN” is found 463 times in the Bible. But the NUMBER 7 is found 371 times in the Bible, which is a multiple of 7. The number 371 may also be written as (7x53) to show that it is evenly divisible by 7. And again, both numbers are prime numbers.

It is also interesting to note that Noah was in the ark exactly 371 days. You can do your own research to verify what I am saying in this study of God’s word. I have hand counted myself using the Strong’ exhaustive concordance. And then, later on after computers became available as personal computers, I rechecked my hand-counting method by computer. I used the Bible software called E-Sword.

The following is a list of just some of the things that are found in sevens in the Bible:

7 heads, 7 days,  7 nights, 7 weeks, 7 months, 7 years, 7 Sabbaths, 7 lambs, 7 oxen, 7 rams, 7 fat kine, 7 bullocks, 7 goats, 7 alters, 7 ears of corn, 7 loaves, 7 baskets, 7 men, 7 women, 7 princes, 7 kings, 7 chamberlains, 7 counselors, 7 sons, 7 priests, 7 crowns, 7 nations, 7 locks, 7 candlesticks, 7 pillars, 7 pipes,  7 streams, 7 eyes, 7 steps, 7 ways, 7 parts, 7 cubits, 7 stars, 7 abominations, 7 seals,  7 trumpets, 7 angels, 7 thunders, and 7 vials.

I actually found a list of 63 (7x9 which can also be written as 3x7x3) different things listed that are found numbered as seven. And then finally, the last time the number 7 is found in the Bible is in the book of Revelation in chapter 21 and verse 9, which is abbreviated as Rev. 21:9. It is here that we find the 7 last PLAGUES.

Some people consider the Bible to be nothing more than a history book. However, no history book or any other book for that matter can produce a number system hidden within its words, as the Bible does. And you will soon see this amazing fact as you continue reading this fascinating study in God’s word. The Bible is a book built on numbers. But the Bible is also filled with prophecy.

The word “prophecy” is found 21 times or (7x3) times in the Bible. In the book of Revelation, which is devoted almost totally to prophecy, this word is found exactly 21 times in the Bible. The number 21 is associated with the meaning of exceeding sinfulness of sin. And the one prophesied to come is the Messiah who is the only way to be saved from sin. The word “prophecy” is also found exactly 7 times in the book of Revelation. And the 7th and final time the word prophecy is found in the book of Revelation we are given this warning.

Revelation 22:19.

“And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, (This is 7th time that the word PROPHECY is found in the book of Revelation.) God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city and from the things written in this book.”

The worst sin of all is to reject God’s Messiah who was PROPHESIED to come. Now this number system seems to only fit a pattern in the King James Version of the Bible, which is abbreviated as KJV.  And this, to me, is like God putting his signature on this particular translation of his Holy word. Please understand that I am not a King James Version only believer. But I do prefer the read and study the King James Version over the many other translations of the Bible. Please read the study. “WHY I PREFER THE KING JAMES VERSION?”

But for now, let us continue with this study on the amazing number SEVEN. The Holy Bible is one book composed of 66 smaller books. The words book and books together are found 196 (7x28) times in the bible. The Bible does not just merely contain God's word, but is in fact the very word of God. The phrase “word of God” is found exactly 49 (7x7) times in the Bible.

And the 7th occurrence of this phrase in the Bible is found in Luke 4:4 which says that we shall LIVE by every word of God.

Luke 4:4.

“And Jesus answered him again saying, It is written, that man shall not live by bread alone, but (We shall LIVE) by every word of God.”

This phrase “it is written” is found 36 (7x11) times in the New Testament.  Jesus often quoted the Old Testament Scriptures saying, “It is written”. Every word in the New Testament under the New Covenant that is spoken by Jesus that he taught to his disciples should be treated as a “thus saith the Lord of hosts”, which incidentally this phrase, “thus saith the Lord of hosts”, is found exactly 70 (7x10) times in the Bible. There is also 413 (7x59) verses in the Bible having some form of the phrase”, thus saith the Lord”, “thus saith the Lord God, or thus saith the Lord God of hosts” in those verses.

The Bible is God’s message to his servants the prophets. The word “message” is found exactly 7 times in the Bible as well as the phrase “his servants the prophets”. Again, you can do your own research to verify what I am saying. I myself used the Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance by hand-counting and then I double checked my counting by hand with the E-Sword Bible software. Let us continue.

Psalm 78:2 says.

“I will open my mouth in a parable, I will utter dark sayings of old”.

The word parable is found 49 (7x7) times in the Bible. This verse of Scripture that just read in the book of Psalms is one of many Old Testament prophecies that were fulfilled by Jesus.  And Matthew 18:34,35 is where we find the recording of its fulfillment.

Matthew 18:34,35.

“All those things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable he spoke not unto them: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the prophet. I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.”

The things written in the Old Testament were shadows and types of things to come. In other words, the New Testament reveals to us the secrets of the Old Testament. The word “secret” in all its forms is found 98 (7x14) times in the bible, which can also be written as 7x (7+7). In other words, the word “secret” is found 68 times, the word “secrets” is found 10 times, and the word “secretly” is found 20 times. And altogether in all three forms the word secret is found 98 times in the Bible. The number 7 means complete and perfect. The number 14 is connected with forgiveness of sins. God’s plan of salvation being in his Son Jesus was kept SECRET from the foundation of the world. We are made perfect and complete in Jesus. And it doesn’t end there! The 7th occurrence of the word “SECRET” in the New Testament brings us to this very same verse of Scripture that we just read in Matthew 18:34,25. If you even remotely think that this is just a coincidence, then keep on reading.

The entire underlying theme of the Bible is God’s plan for man’s redemption. However, at the same time the Bible also tells us of God’s wrath that will be poured out on those who reject his free gift of faith whereby we obtain grace which then leads us to salvation. The word “wrath” is found 198 times in the Bible. Now while this number 198 is not evenly divisible by 7, I find it to be an amazing number as well. For you see, the numbers that do divide the number 198 evenly produce an astounding pattern. The numbers are as follows (2x99), (3x66), (6x33), (9x22), and (18x11). Notice that 11, 22, 33, 66, and 99 are all double digits. That seems pretty amazing in and of its self considering that these are the only numbers that divide 198 evenly and they are all double digits. However, it really becomes apparent of God’s hand in writing the Bible when we take a close look at Rev.18:6 which speaks of God’s coming wrath.

Revelation 19:6.

“Reward her even as she rewarded you, DOUBLE unto her DOUBLE according to her works; in the cup which she has filled, fill to her DOUBLE.”

What are the odds that the word wrath would appear in the Bible exactly 198 times and that all the multiples of 198 would be DOUBLE digits, which corresponds exactly to the fact that God’s wrath will be poured out upon the world that rejects him in a DOUBLE portion! Amazing isn't it!

Just two verses prior to this verse we see the calling out of God’s people that they might NOT be partakers of the wrath of God.

We are clearly told in 2 Thessalonians 5:8 that we are NOT appointed to God’s wrath.

2 Thessalonians 5:8.

“God has NOT appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation BY our Lord Jesus Christ.”

The ONLY way anyone can obtain salvation is through Jesus Christ. The 7th occurrence of the word “SALVATION” in the New Testament is found in Acts 4:12, which tells that we can obtain salvation through Jesus Christ the ONLY name given among men whereby we MUST be SAVED.

Acts 4:12.

“Neither is there salvation in ANY OTHER: (Speaking of Jesus) for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.”

The word SAVED” in all its forms along with the word “SALVATION” are found 560 (7x80) times in the Bible. Jesus tells us this in John 14:6.

John 14:6.

I am the WAY the TRUTH and the LIFE, no man comes to the Father but BY me.”

Again, there is only one way to obtain salvation and eternal life and that is through the Lord Jesus Christ. The word “life” is found 450 times in the Bible and amazingly the 77th occurrence of this word “life” in the New Testament brings us to this exact same Scripture that we just read in John 14:6. To me, that is just too much to pass off as mere coincidence!

Romans 10:9 says.

“That if you shall CONFESS with your mouth the Lord Jesus and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be SAVED.”

The Bible says that if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and shall believe in your heart, you shall be saved. That is to say, that if you truly believe deep down on the inside of yourself that God has raised Jesus from the dead, you shall be saved. In other words, if you confess or speak out loud so others can hear and know that you have made Jesus your Lord and Savior and believe with all your heart that Jesus is raised from the dead you shall be saved. It does not get any simpler than that! For a deeper understanding on how to be saved and how to receive eternal life in the world to come please read the study “HOW CAN I BE SAVED?” For now, this confession of your faith brings you into RIGHT relationship with God and places you on the right PATH to obtain eternal life at the end of this age, IF of course, you REMAIN on this narrow way that leads to everlasting life. The word “CONFESS” is found 28 (7x4) times in the Bible and the word believe in all its forms is found 322 (7x46).

The Bible says in 1 John 1:19 that if we ask Jesus to forgive us of our sins that he is faithful and just to forgive us. The word “FORGIVE” is found 56 (7x8) times, the word “FORGIVEN” is found 42 (7x6) times, the word “FORGIVENESS” is found exactly 7 times, and all the other forms of the word forgive together are also found 7 times in the Bible. So all together, all the forms of the word “FORGIVE” are found 112 (7x16) times in the bible.

Now the number 16 in the Bible means love! And in John 3:16 we come to understand that LOVE and FORGIVENESS go hand in hand so to speak.

John 3:16.

“For God so LOVED the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

In other words, God so loved you that he gave his only Son so that you might be forgiven of your sins and be set free from the dominion that sin once had over you. God sets those of us who believe free from the bondage of sin so that we may live our lives free from sin. To say this another way is that being saved ALSO means being saved from sinning. Please read the study “HOW YOU CAN LIVE YOUR LIFE FREE FROM SIN!”

The phrases “the love of God and “the love of the Lord” are found 14 (7x2) times in the Bible. It is just a matter of doing the math. With so much emphasis on the number 7 inter woven in the word of God, dealing with the redemption of man, salvation, and the forgiveness of sin, then one would be blind to say there is no God and deny the divine authorship of the Bible. Therefore, since numbers do not lie, it would be reasonable and rational to conclude that the Bible is also true.

So then, now that you have heard the word of God concerning salvation you are now obligated to either believe what you have read and confess Jesus as your Lord and Savior, or you can refuse to accept God’s word as being the TRUTH and reject God’s free gift of salvation offered to you this day, to redeem you for your sins. Now if the enemy has some how kept those blinders upon your eyes to keep you from seeing the truth of God's word, then I want you to consider the word “redeem”.  The word redeem in all its forms is found 161 times in the bible or (7x23).

Now, the number 23 in the Bible is the number for death. The Bible says that the wages of sin are death. So if you do not accept and receive God’s perfect redemption by faith in his Son Jesus, then you will die in your sins. We can only be redeemed from death through the blood of Jesus. The name of Jesus is the only name under heaven that is given among men whereby we must be saved. It all comes down to a CHOICE, so which will you choose? Will you choose the love of God and inherit eternal life or will you choose the lies of the enemy and remain on the pathway that leads to death? God wants you to choose life. The Bible says that God is not willing that any man should perish but that all men come to the knowledge of truth and be saved. CHOOSE you this day whom you will serve. The kingdom of God is at hand. And may God's grace be with you as you seek the Lord and his salvation. CHOOSE LIFE my dear friend, CHOOSE LIFE!

Yours always in Christ Jesus,

Brother Mark.

Now if you are one that is familiar with the King James Version of the Bible, then you may be wondering where all the thee’s and the thou’s are NOT in the Scriptures that quote throughout nearly all of the Bible studies that I have done here at http://www.AMatterOfTruth.com/  and on my teaching videos on my YouTube channel AMATTEROFTRUTH. Well, the truth is, I hear a lot of complaints by my fellow brothers and sisters in the Lord about how hard it is to read the King James Version, because of all the thee's and the thou's, so I simply replaced these old English words with their modern English equivalents. There is just something about the King James Version that I personally do not find in any other modern translation of the Bible. Enough said on this topic for now.

If this study intrigued you, then I want to encourage you to copy it to your computer and print out some copies to use as Bible tracks to share to the gospel of Jesus Christ. The amazing number 7 can be used as a way to open a non-believer up to hearing the word of God.

Here are a few more amazing facts surrounding the number 7.

#1. In the original Hebrew language, the first verse of the Bible has exactly SEVEN words.

#2. Those seven Hebrew words contain 28 (7x4) letters.

#3. The sum of the first seven digits totals 28.

#4. The Gematria or the sum of all the value of each letter in Genesis total 2701. And the multiples of 2701 is 37x73. Both the number 37 and the number 73 are prime numbers. The number 37 is the 12th prime number and the number 73 is the 21st prime number. These numbers are the mirror image of each other. And when we put 37 together with 73 we get the number 3773, which can be written as 7x7x77=3773.

#5. The first letter of the Hebrew alphabet is the Aleph. The Aleph has a numerical value of 1. The middle letter of the Hebrew alphabet is the Mem. The value of the letter Mem is 40. And the last letter of the Hebrew alphabet is the Tav. The numerical value of the letter Tav is 400. All three letters together for the Hebrew word for TRUTH. The numerical value for the word “TRUTH” is 441 or 7x7x9=441. And this can also be written a 3x7x7x3 which is the numbers 37 and 73 which are mirror images of each other. The number 37 is associated with the “word” of God. And the word of God is TRUTH. Jesus said in John 14:6 “I am the way, the TRUTH, and the life, no man comes to the Father but by me.” And the word “TRUTHis found 119 (7x17) times in the New Testament.

#6. This pattern of seven continues through the entire Bible, including the New Testament. Here is a video on the number seven in the genealogy of Jesus. “Sevens in the Bible”.

#7. Here are so facts about the number seven from a different source. I found these facts in a book called The Pattern & the Prophecy God's Great Code. In Matthew 1:17 we read that there were FOURTEEN (7x2) generations from Abraham to David, FOURTEEN (7x2) generations from David to Babylon, and FOURTEEN (7x2) generations from the exile to Christ. Then the author of this book gives these other amazing facts surrounding the number seven that are hidden in the original Greek text,

A. From Matthew 1:1-11 only 49 (7x7) different Greek words are used.

B. And of these 49 (7x7) DIFFERENT Greek words, 28 (7x4) begin with a vowel and the remaining 21 (7x3) begin with a consonant.

C. And of those 49 (7x7) different Greek words, there are 35 (7x5) that occur more than one time and 14 (7x2) occur only one time each.

D. These words are composed of 266 (7x28) letters, including 140 (7x20) vowels and 126 (7x 18) consonants.

E. The verses contain 42 (7x6) nouns and 7 words that are not nouns.

F. In the genealogies, there are 35 (7x5) proper names and 7 common names. And of the proper names, 28 (7x4) are male ancestors of Jesus, and 7 are not.

The study of patterns of SEVEN in the Bible is called the Heptadic structure of the Bible. The Jews have known this pattern for thousands of years. But there was one man who was an atheist that became a Christian that spent the remainder of his life studying the sevens in the Bible. His name is Dr. Ivan Panin. He was born in Russia in 1855 on December 25. He became a Christian around the late 1880's and began studying the Heptadit structure of the Bible in 1890 and spent the remaining 50 years finding some 43,000 pages on this subject.
