SPELLING EDITED I-6. All of the Studies & Scriptures on the SPIRIT!
Below, after this short introduction of what I believe and teach, there is a list of ALL the Scriptures in the New Testament with the words, Spirit, Holy Spirit, and Holy Ghost in the verses in the King James Bible. Some verse may be duplicated because they have two words such as Spirit and Holy Ghost in them. You can do your own study on the GIFTS of the Holy Spirit and speaking in other tongues using these verses of Scripture as I have done for you if you disagree with what I teach. I believe and teach that every person RECEIVES the INDWELLING of the Holy Spirit the very moment that they first BELIEVE. I believe and teach that SOME people are FILLED with the Holy Spirit the very moment that they first believe to bear saved. However, I also believe and teach the MOST people are saved first by BELIEVING the gospel of Jesus Christ, which is WHEN they actually RECEIVE the INDWELLING of the earnest of the Holy Spirit who comes and DWELLS IN them. And then, SOME of those Christians are FILLED with the Holy Spirit later. In other words, SOME true born-again Christians may NEVER speak in other tongues. Let me say that again, I also believe that some truly born-again Christians may never speak in other tongues, but that does NOT mean that they do not have the Holy Spirit DWELLING in them. And I also believe that every Christian has the ABILITY to speak in other tongues, but they are not REQUIRED to speak in other tongues as some so-called evidence that they are truly saved. Please read all the studies under the headings at the top of my homepage called >>> GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT<<< and >>>WHO OR WHAT IS THE HOLY SPIRIT?<<< Also, you can do your own study using the Scriptures listed below.
Scriptures with the word Spirit, Holy Spirit, and Holy Ghost in them. And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizes with the Holy Ghost. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance In whom you also trusted, after that, you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that you believed, you were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise, And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby you are sealed unto the day of redemption. He, therefore, that despises, despises not man, but God, who has also given unto us His Holy Spirit. I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: Wherefore, I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. And whosoever speaks a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaks against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, either in this world, neither in the world to come. Go you, therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost. But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation: For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit you on my right hand, till I make your enemies your footstool. But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what you shall speak, neither do you premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak you: for it is not you that speaks, but the Holy Ghost. John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I comes, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire: And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, You are my beloved Son; in you I am well pleased. And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemes against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven. For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what you ought to say. And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom you shall see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizes with the Holy Ghost. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said unto them, Receive you the Holy Ghost: Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen: For John truly baptized with water, but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. But you shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you: and you shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Men and brethren, this Scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was a guide to them that took Jesus. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Therefore, being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he has shed forth this, which you now see and hear. Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel, And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness. But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Ghost and to keep back part of the price of the land? And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God has given to them that obey him. Wherefore, brethren, look you out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch: Ye stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do you. But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up steadfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, Who, when they had come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: Then they laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost. And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto you in the way as you came, has sent me, that you might receive your sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost. Then had the churches rest throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified, and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied. How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning. Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but you shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost. For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord. As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me, Barnabas and Saul, for the work whereunto I have called them. So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him, And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Ghost. And God, which knows the hearts, bare them, witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things; Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia, He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. Take heed, therefore, unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost has made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he has purchased with his own blood.
And when he has come unto us, he took Paul's girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus said the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles. And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers, And hope makes not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost, For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink, but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. Now the God of hope, fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Ghost teaches; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which you have of God, and ye are not your own? Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord but by the Holy Ghost The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen. [The second epistle to the Corinthians was written from Philippi, a city of Macedonia, by Titus and Lucas. For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as you know what manner of men we were among you for your sake. And you became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with the joy of the Holy Ghost: That good thing which was committed unto you, keep by the Holy Ghost which dwells in us. Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; God, also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will? For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing: Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before, Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us, they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. But you, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. For it is not you that speaks, but the Spirit of your Father which speaks in you. Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall show judgment to the Gentiles. But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come unto you. And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law, And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him. And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region roundabout. The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised. If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom you shall see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. The wind bloweth where it lists, and you hear the sound thereof, but can not tell where it comes, and where it goes: so is everyone that is born of the Spirit. For he whom God has sent speaks the words of God: for God gives not the Spirit by measure [unto him]. But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeks such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. It is the spirit that quickens; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it sees him not, neither knows him: but you know him; for he dwells with you, and shall be in you. But when the Comforter has come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceeds from the Father, he shall testify of me: Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: There is, therefore, now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh, but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. But you are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if any man has not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwells in you. For if you live after the flesh, you shall die: but if you through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, you shall live. The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And not only they but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body. Likewise, the Spirit also helps our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searches the hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit because he makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.
And my speech and my preaching were not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: But God has revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searches all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knows no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. But the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. Know you not that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? Wherefore, I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord but by the Holy Ghost.
Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; But all these work that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For he that speaks in an unknown tongue speaks not unto men, but unto God: for no man understands him; howbeit in the spirit, he speaks mysteries. For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. Else, when you shall bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupies the room of the unlearned say Amen at your giving of thanks, seeing he understands not what you say? Who haa also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter kills, but the spirit gives life. How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious? Now he that has wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also has given unto us the earnest of the Spirit. For if he that comes preaches another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which you have not received, or another gospel, which you have not accepted, you might well bear with him. This only would I learn of you, Received you the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are you so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are you now made perfect by the flesh? He, therefore, that ministers to you the Spirit, and works miracles among you, does he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so, it is now. In whom ye also trusted, after that, you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that you believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise, For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby you are sealed unto the day of redemption. (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; He, therefore, that despises, despises not man, but God, who has also given unto us his Holy Spirit. Quench not the Spirit. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly, and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? Seeing you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that you love one another with a pure heart fervently: And he that keeps his commandments dwells in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit which he has given us. We are of God: he that knows God hears us; he that is not of God hears not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. 1 John 5:7 KJV For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 1 John 5:8 KJV And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
