S101-9 HOW, WHEN, And WHY Israel DIVIDED!

Chapter 9.

Now, some Christians believe that God spoke every word of every prophecy from the very beginning before creation. And thus, to them God had every detail already planned exactly as they would be before God created Adam.

However, the Bible itself teaches us in Psalm 139:13-20 that the members of Jesus were written in the volume of a book. And in CONTINUANCE they were DETERMINED and before any of his members existed. So then, HOW the children of Israel divided into the two kingdoms of Israel was a part of God’s plan to give them a Messiah. But before God could interfere with His test of a MAN living without sin as God’s true and faithful witness to judge His enemies, God needed man to ask Him for what they want that is according to His Will. In other words, before God could give the children of Israel His King to deliver them. God needed them to ASK Him for a king.

So then, the members of God’s Messiah, Jesus were prophesied in STAGES that were DETERMINED as God needed to finish His plan of salvation. To say this another way, whenever the enemy threw an obstacle in the way, like tempting the first Adam to sin, God prophesied another STEP of His plan of salvation. Remember that the children of Israel at Mount Sinai told Moses that they did not want to hear the voice of Yahweh any more. They told Moses that he could hear from God and then they would obey what Yahweh told him. So Moses PROPHESIED that God would raise up a Prophet like him among the people in Deuteronomy 18:15-19. And thus, the prophets of God became the judges of the people of Israel. And when Samuel was old he made his sons to be judges, but they were corrupt and took bribes.

That is when the children of Israel asked Samuel to give them a king like all of the other nations. They no longer wanted Yahweh to rule over them. That was a win so to speak for Satan, so God prophesied the MANNER in which the king that THEY asked for would be like. You can read that for yourself later in 1 Samuel chapter 8. For now, God told Samuel to anoint Saul of the Tribe of Benjamin to be the king over Israel who would DELIVER them. So then, Saul is a FIGURE of Yahweh King who would DELIVER the REMNANT of Israel at the end of this present age. But I also see that Saul is a figure of the Apostle Paul as well but in reverse. Let me explain what I mean by this.

In 1 Samuel 9:21, we see that Saul the king of Israel was of the Tribe of Benjamin.

And in Philippians 3:5, we see that Saul of Tarsus was ALSO of the Tribe of Benjamin

Saul started out as a good king and then was prophesied to be TURNED into ANOTHER man in 1 Samuel 10:6. And LATER Saul did indeed become another man, a bad king for the rest of his days, according to

And to me, this is a FIGURE Saul of Tarsus in REVERSE. Saul of Tarsus was a bad man at first, but God gave him a NEW or ANOTHER HEART and he became a good servant of God all the rest of his days.

Some of the men of Israel rejected the first Saul but most accepted Saul as their king.

Some of the men of Israel feared Saul of Tarsus but most accepted Saul as a true Apostle of Jesus Christ. Please read 1 Samuel 10:8-12 which I see as a FIGURE of the Apostle Paul.

1 Samuel 10:8-12.

“And you shall go down before me to Gilgal; and, behold, I will come down unto you, to offer burnt offerings, and to sacrifice sacrifices of peace offerings: seven days shall you tarry, till I come to you, and show you what you shall do

9.  And it was so, that when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him ANOTHER HEART: and all those signs came to pass that day.

10.  And when they came thither to the hill, behold, a company of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied among them.

11.  And it came to pass, when all that knew him before time saw that, behold, he prophesied among the prophets, then the people said one to another, What is this that has come unto the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets? (Or is Saul of Tarsus now a Christian? Has God given him a NEW HEART like us?)

12.  And one of the people in the same place answered and said, But who is their father? Therefore it became a proverb, Is Saul also among the prophets?”

In other words, is Saul of Tarsus one of the twelve Apostles? Yes! It was Jesus who chose the twelve Apostles, and ONE of them was prophesied to turn away from God and be replaced. And it was Jesus himself who CHOSE Saul of Tarsus to be his Apostle to the Gentiles, according to Acts 9:15,16.

Acts 9:15,16.

“But the Lord said unto him, Go your way: for he is a CHOSEN VESSEL unto ME, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:

16.  For I will show him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.”

When Paul kicked against the PRICKS of God’s Spirit in disobedience to God in order to please MAN, God gave him a NEW HEART and Saul became ANOTHER MAN who OBEYED God all the rest of his day. But the REVERSE happened to the first Saul. Let us read that passage of Scripture.

1 Samuel 15:18-29.

“And the LORD sent you on a journey, and said, Go and utterly destroy the sinners, the Amalekites, and fight against them until they are consumed

19.  Wherefore then, you did NOT OBEY the voice of the LORD, but rather you flew upon the spoil, and did EVIL in the sight of the LORD? (And then Saul laid the BLAME on the children of Israel like in the Garden of Eden, the blame was laid upon someone else)

20.  And Saul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the voice of the LORD, and have gone the way which the LORD sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites.

21.  But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice unto the LORD your God in Gilgal.

22.  And Samuel said, Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

23.  For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, He has also rejected you from being king

24.  And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD, and your words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice

25.  Now therefore, I beg you, pardon my sin, and turn again with me, that I may worship the LORD.

26.  And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with you: for you have rejected the word of the LORD, and the LORD has rejected you from being king over Israel

27.  And as Samuel turned about to go away, he laid hold upon the skirt of his mantle, and it TORN in two.

28.  And Samuel said unto him, The LORD has TORN in two the kingdom of Israel from you this day, and has given it to a neighbor of yours, (Or more accurately translated, and has given it to a BROTHER of yours) that is better than you. (Speaking of David of the Tribe of JUDAH who is a FIGURE of Messiah Jesus, whom God ANOINTED to be His King of kings and Lord of lords after he OBEYED all of the Will of his God and Father, according to Philippians 2:8-11)

29.  And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent: for he is not a man, that he should repent.”

The second king of Israel was the son of Saul whose name was Ishbosheth, according to 2 Samuel 2:10.

2 Samuel 2:10.

“Ishbosheth Saul's son was forty years old when he began to reign over Israel, and reigned for two years. But the house of Judah followed David.”

Here we see the start of the fulfillment of the prophecy given by Samuel to Saul that the kingdom of Israel will be torn in two from his reign. Then we read a prophecy of the Messiah where God found his servant David, who is a FIGURE of the Jewish Messiah, Jesus. This prophecy teaches us that God’s human Son, Jesus, BECAME His FIRSTBORN eternal Son after the cross and Resurrection.

Psalm 89:18-20,26-27.

“For the LORD is our defense; AND the Holy One of Israel is our king

19.  Then you spoke in vision to Your Holy One, (Jesus is the Holy One of Yahweh, according to Acts 2:27-36 and many other verses of Scripture) and said, I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people

20.  I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him:...

…26  He shall cry unto me, You are my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.

27.  Also, I will make him, my FIRSTBORN, higher than the kings of the earth.”

So even though we saw what was the start of the kingdom of Israel dividing, 2 Samuel 5:1-7 teaches us that ALL of the tribes of Israel anointed David to be the king Israel and Judah. God then chose David’s son Solomon to build God’s house. Then when Solomon was old he was led astray by his wives to go after their gods. Let us go ahead and read that passage of Scripture.

1 Kings 11:4-14.

“For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.

5.  For you see, Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.

6.  And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father

7.  Then did Solomon build a high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon.

8.  And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods.

9.  And the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the LORD God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice,

10.  And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which the LORD commanded

11.  WHEREFORE, the LORD said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of you, and you have not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded you, I will surely rend the kingdom from you, and will give it to your servant.

12.  Notwithstanding in your days I will not do it for David your father's sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of your son

13.  However, I will not rend away all the kingdom; but will give one tribe to your son for David my servant's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake which I have chosen

14.  And the LORD stirred up an adversary unto Solomon, Hadad the Edomite: he was of the king's seed in Edom.”

According to 1 Kings 11:43, when King Solomon died his son Rehoboam reigned in his stead. Now, in the later end of Solomon’s reign, he levied a heavy yoke of taxes on the people. And when his son became king over all of Israel, Rehoboam made that yoke or burden even heavier and he would not hearken to the people. And this was done so that God could fulfill his prophecy to rend the kingdom from the hand of Solomon’s son, Rehoboam.

Then a Israelite name Jeroboam was voted in as the king of Israel and Rehoboam fled to Jerusalem to his own house of David in the land of Judah. And God fulfilled the prophecy in 1 Kings 11:29-38 that He gave to Jeroboam that He would NOT take ALL of the kingdom of Israel from Solomon’s son. And that is when the Tribe of Benjamin was given by God to join with the Tribe of Judah to become the house of Judah.

So then, Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, the son of David reigned over the house of David which is called the house of Judah, and Jeroboam reigned over the northern 10 tribes of Israel. According to 1 Kings 15:6, both kings made war against each other all the days of their lives.

1 Kings 15:6.

“And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of his life.”

It appears for the most part that Jeroboam went against Judah and Judah defended itself. For you see, when Rehoboam first fled to Judah he raised up an army but God told him NOT to go up and fight against his brothers.

Jeroboam feared in his heart that IF the ten tribes of Israel went to Jerusalem to worship Yahweh then they all would follow Rehoboam. And according to 1 Kings 12:27-33, Jeroboam made two golden calves to be worshiped as gods which caused the house of Israel to sin against Yahweh. And to make a long story short, basically, according to 2 Kings 15:1-38, all of the kings over the house of Israel who reigned after Jeroboam walked in the steps of Jeroboam to follow other gods. A few kings of the house of Israel did what was right before Yahweh, but they did NOT destroy the high places and the groves of worship to the pagan gods. And the PEOPLE of the ten tribes of Israel still worshiped false gods. Here is a list of all of the kings over the northern 10 tribes of Israel, which I found on another website. I will leave THEIR links that give some information about each king.

Jeroboam I: Led secession of Israel.

Nadab: Son of Jeroboam I.

Baasha: Overthrew Nadab.

Elah: Son of Baasha.

Zimri: Overthrew Elah.

Omri: Overthrew Zimri.

Ahab: Son of Omri; husband of Jezebel.

Ahaziah: Son of Ahab.

Shallum: Overthrew Zechariah.

Menahem: Overthrew Shallum.

Pekahiah: Son of Menahem.

Pekah: Overthrew Pekahiah.

Hoshea: Overthrew Pekah; kingdom overthrown by Assyrians under Sargon II.

Then in 2 Kings 17:1-23 we see the king of Assyria attacking the northern kingdom of Israel and taking them captive in the land of Assyria. Then in 2 Kings 17:24-41 we see the king of Assyria bringing his people to live in the land that belonged to the 10 tribes of Israel. And the Assyrian people worshiped Yahweh, only because they FEARED the LIONS that Yahweh sent. And thus they worshiped Yahweh AND their false gods that the children of Israel worshiped, which resulted in their being taken captive in the land of Assyria. The so-called converted Assyrians to the Law of Moses mainly inhabited Samaria and the cities of Samaria. They became known as the Samaritans who did NOT worship in the Temple in Jerusalem as the Judahites.

The Assyria captivity began in 742 BC where Assyria captured only a few tribes of the 10 tribes of Israel. But by 722 BC all of the TEN tribes of Israel were taken captive. However, not every single Israelite from the 10 tribes of Israel were taken to the land of Israel.

Hezekiah was the king of Judah at the time Assyria took the 10 northern tribes captive. Now, Hezekiah did that which was right before Yahweh and he did INDEED destroy the high places of worship that the people burned incense and worship false gods, according to

Now, the king of Assyria TRIED to also conquer the land of Judah and the city of Jersulem, but Yahweh would not allow that to happen, according to 2 Kings 19:30-37. Here is a list of the kings of Judah after the kingdom of Israel DIVIDED into the house of Israel and the house of Judah, which I found on another website. Again, I will leave THEIR links so you can read about each individual king if you desire.

Rehoboam: First King.

Abijah (or Abijam or Abia): Son of Rehoboam.

Asa: Probably the son of Abijah.

Jehoshaphat: Son of Asa.

Jehoram (or Joram): Son of Jehoshaphat; husband of Athaliah.

Ahaziah: Son of Jehoram and Athaliah.

Athaliah: Daughter of King Ahab of Israel and Jezebel; wife of Jehoram; only queen to occupy the throne of Judah.

Joash (or Jehoash): Son of Ahaziah.

Amaziah: Son of Joash.

Uzziah (or Azariah): Son of Amaziah.

Jotham: Regent, later King; son of Uzziah.

Ahaz: Son of Jotham.

Hezekiah: Son of Ahaz; husband of Hephzi-Bah.

Manasseh: Son of Hezekiah and Hephzi-Bah.

Amon: Son of Manasseh.

Josiah (or Josias): Son of Amon.

Jehoahaz (or Joahaz): Son of Josiah.

Jehoiakim: Son of Josiah.

Jehoiachin: Son of Jehoiakim.

Zedekiah: Son of Josiah; kingdom overthrown by Babylonians under Nebuchadnezzar.

Now, while it is TRUE that king Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon took the two tribes of Judah captive for seventy years and many Judahites returned to their homeland, it is NOT true that the 10 northern tribes of Israel are LOST and NOT one Israelite from the ten tribes lived in the land of Israel during the days of Jesus as some people, including some Christians wrongly CLAIM. And it is also NOT true that ALL of the Jews in the STATE of Israel are so-called FAKE Jews, as in not one person called a Jew in the STATE of Israel is a TRUE Hebrew Israelite as some people, including some Christians wrongly claim.
