The Bible says in Matthew 21:1-11 speaking of Jesus saying blessed is he who comes in the NAME OF the Lord.
I will just quote Matthew 21:9.
“And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that comes in the NAME OF the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.”
So then, the first thing to remember is that Jesus came in the NAME of the Lord Yahweh as a Prophet of the Lord Yahweh. And Jesus only spoke the words OF Yahweh and NOT in his OWN words, according to Matthew 21:11, because that is what a TRUE Prophet of Almighty God Yahweh does.
Matthew 21:10,11. “And when he came into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this? 11. And the multitude said, This is Jesus the PROPHET of Nazareth of Galilee.”
Let us begin this study in God's word to learn that Jesus was far more than just only a PROPHET of Yahweh the LORD most high by reading Matthew 28:18, which says.
“And Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying ALL POWER is GIVEN unto me in heaven and on earth.”
The word of God tells us that ALL POWER is given unto Jesus, both in heaven and in the earth. Also, notice that this power has been GIVEN unto Jesus AFTER the cross. So who gave this supreme divine power unto Jesus?
Philippians 2:9-11 says.
“Wherefore God (Speaking of Almighty God the Father) also has HIGHLY EXALTED him, (Jesus his now eternal Son AFTER the cross) and has GIVEN him a NAME which is ABOVE EVERY NAME: (And the NEW name that Jesus was GIVEN after the cross and resurrection is equal to the authority of the name Yahweh, but Jesus is still under and subject to his God, Yahweh the Father. I have highlighted in light blue the NEW name GIVEN to Jesus by his God and Father. And since the name of Almighty God is Yahweh is the HIGHEST name, I highlighted the Father’s name in orange to show that they are equal in authority, but the Father is still over His all, including His Son, Jesus. Now, God gave His human Son this NEW name above every other name) 10. That at the NAME of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and in things in the earth, and things under the earth; 11. And every tongue should confess that Jesus is Lord TO the glory OF God the Father.”
So then, we see from the Bible itself that it PLEASED Almighty God, the Father, to HIGHLY EXALT the Son of MAN Jesus and GIVE to him a NAME that is ABOVE EVERY NAME that is named, both in heaven and in the earth and also under the earth. In other words, Jesus, the NAME of Jesus carries ALL authority and ALL power in heaven, in the earth and under the earth, which is EVERYWHERE concerning us as humans and the fallen angels. So then, there is not anywhere where the power and authority of the NAME of Jesus does not reach. Satan and the devils must FLEE at our command in the NAME of Jesus. In other words, when we command the devils to leave in the NAME of Jesus then the NAME Yahweh is behind that NAME and Satan must BOW down to the NEW NAME of Jesus just as if Yahweh Himself is doing the COMMANDING. Always remember that all the power and authority came from Almighty God Himself as a reward to His human Son Jesus for becoming obedient unto his death on the cross to redeem mankind back to his God and Father the Almighty. So according to the Bible itself, it was AFTER the cross and resurrection that Yahweh the Father highly exalted the Son of MAN to give to the Son of MAN the divine nature of immortality to be having in himself. And at the same time Yahweh also gave to the NOW ETERNAL Son of God all power and authority to rule and reign FOR Yahweh in the world to come for 1000 years. Understand and KNOW this TRUTH for your GOOD. Do not let the enemy deceive you. Almighty God the Father, the designer and creator of all things, stands behind the NAME of Jesus to enforce it. Every knee shall bow and obey that authority, or they will face the WRATH of God. So speaking the name JESUS is speaking in the authority of Yahweh the Father. My prayer for you, the reader of this study of God's Holy word and all of the studies in this website here at AMatterOfTruth.com, is that your eyes of UNDERSTANDING be opened and that you come to the knowledge of the TRUTH of the WHOLE word of God, just as the prayer in Ephesians 1:15-22 teaches us to pray.
Ephesians 1:15-22.
“Wherefore, I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, cease not to give thanks for you and make mention of you in my PRAYERS, 16. That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the KNOWLEDGE of him: 17. That the EYES of your UNDERSTANDING being enlightened; that you may KNOW what is the hope of his calling, and what is the RICHES of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, 18. And what is the exceeding greatness of his POWER toward us who BELIEVE, according to the working of his MIGHTY POWER, 19. Which HE wrought in Christ (Or is His ANOINTED Messiah), when HE raised him from the dead and set him (Or MADE the Son of MAN become His Lord of lords to sit on Yahweh's throne) at his OWN right hand in heavenly places, 20. FAR ABOVE ALL principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and EVERY NAME that is NAMED, not only in this world but ALSO in the world to come: 21. And (Yahweh the Father) has put ALL things UNDER his feet, and gave him (Jesus) to be the head over ALL things to the church, 22. Which is his BODY, the FULLNESS of him that fills all in all.”
Now did you get all of that? Think about what this is truly saying. Get a hold of this, and this TRUTH will make you free indeed IF you continue in this truth. First, we see that Jesus is given EXCEEDINGLY GREATNESS of POWER that is not just above the enemy Satan, but is FAR ABOVE ALL principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and EVERY name that is NAMED. This covers everything, and there is NOTHING left which is not under the NAME of Jesus, which means that absolutely everything is under the name of Jesus, except having authority over his God and Father, the ONLY true God Yahweh, Almighty God himself. So what is the POWER that is behind this mighty name of Jesus? It is none other than the ALMIGHTY power of Yahweh THE Almighty God, the Father, Himself. God has seated His Son Jesus right next to Him in heavenly places and has given His Son AUTHORITY over everything so that His NOW ETERNAL Son should be honored even as Yahweh the Father Himself is honored. And not ONLY to His Son Jesus is this AUTHORITY given, but to us ALSO who BELIEVE. We, the church, are the BODY of Jesus. We are his FEET, hand, and voice that ALL THINGS are put UNDER. This passage of Scripture, the very word of God Almighty, says that we are the FULLNESS of Jesus. We are the hands and feet of Jesus on the earth. We are the BODY of Christ Jesus. And we are to be doing the SAME works that men saw Jesus do THROUGH the eternal Spirit who dwelt in him. We have been endued with POWER and authority from on high even as Jesus was given power and authority from on high. We, that is to say, ALL BELIEVERS have been GIVEN the FULL AUTHORITY of the NAME of Jesus. Please know and understand that the creator of all things, Almighty God himself, is the POWER that is behind the NAME of Jesus. So when we speak forth the name of Jesus exercising our God-given AUTHORITY in the NAME of Jesus over the enemy, then KNOW and UNDERSTAND that Almighty God Yahweh himself ENFORCES this authority. Get a hold of this TRUTH and this truth will make you free indeed if you CONTINUE in this TRUTH.
Luke 9:1,2 says.
“Then he (Jesus) called his twelve disciples together, and GAVE them POWER and AUTHORITY over ALL devils, and to cure diseases. 2. And he sent them to preach the kingdom, and to heal the sick.”
Jesus gave his disciples POWER and AUTHORITY over the entire enemy, to cast out devils and to heal the sick. The word “disciple” means as a noun; one who follows and adheres to the teaching of a master. This means the disciple sits at the feet of his or her teacher and learns, then they discipline their own life to the pattern of the master or teacher. They obey what the master teaches. Jesus is our Lord which means master. Romans 8:29 tells us that God the Father has foreordained and predestined us to be conformed to the IMAGE of his dear Son. And please know and understand that Jesus did not become the express IMAGE of God until AFTER the cross which is WHEN Jesus became the FIRSTBORN of every creature, the FIRSTBORN from the dead to be given the divine nature of immortality.
Romans 8:29.
“For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestine to be conformed to the IMAGE of His Son, that he might be the FIRSTBORN among many brethren.”
Please read the study “WHAT DOES THE FIRSTBORN OF EVERY CREATURE MEAN?” but for now let us continue with this study on Jesus coming in the NAME OF Yahweh as Yahweh's Prophet to speak the word OF Yahweh and not his OWN words. We are created in the very IMAGE of Almighty God, after his LIKENESS. This does not mean that we are Almighty God Himself, but rather, that we are to bear his nature or character of Almighty God. And when God completes forming us in the IMAGE of Jesus to be like Jesus is NOW after the Cross and resurrection, that does NOT make us to be ONE and the SAME SON of God. So then why would Jesus MADE in the IMAGE of the invisible God be INTERPRETED by some Christians to mean that Jesus is Almighty God Himself? The word “image” here means a reproduction of the appearance of something or someone. The character projected by someone or something. A personification of something specified. The word “personification” means to be the embodiment or perfect example of. Jesus is our EXAMPLE to follow. Jesus was the very personification and image of Almighty God. Jesus did all that his Father in heaven told him to do, thereby leaving us his example to follow. But again the son of MAN Jesus was not made PERFECT or the perfect IMAGE until after the cross which is when Yahweh the Father GAVE the Son of MAN to be having LIFE in himself even as the Father has always had LIFE in himself. Please read the study “WHEN DID JESUS BECOME GOD'S ETERNAL SON? Part 1” for all the verses that prove that Jesus did not pre-exist in eternity past as God's SON and therefore it is impossible for a God the SON to have come down from heaven to incarnate himself to become flesh. But for now, let us continue with this study in God's word on the power and the authority that we have as believers in the NAME of Jesus.
John 14:12 says,
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that BELIEVES on me, the works that I do he shall do ALSO; and GREATER works than these shall he do because I go to the Father.”
We are told here in the word of God that those who BELIEVE on Jesus, that is on him and in the power and authority of his NAME, the WORKS that he did, so ALSO shall we do and greater works, IF we BELIEVE and CONTINUE in the TRUTH.
Mark 16:17,18 says.
“And these SIGNS shall follow them that BELIEVE; in MY NAME shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18. They shall take up serpents; they shall drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick and they SHALL RECOVER.”
Jesus delegated his authority to ALL who BELIEVE in him and in the POWER and AUTHORITY of his NAME. In Luke 10:1-20 we see Jesus GIVING power and authority to seventy more of his followers, or disciples.
Luke 10:1 starts off by saying.
“After these things, the Lord appointed another seventy also, and sent them two by two before his face into every city and place, wherever he himself would come.”
Then in Luke 10:8 and 9, we read.
“And into whatsoever city, you enter, and they RECEIVE you, eat such things that are set before you: 9. And HEAL the sick that are therein, and say unto them the kingdom of God is at hand.”
Not all people will RECEIVE the truth. Now read verses 17-20 in this same chapter of Luke.
Luke 10:17-20.
“And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord even the devils are subject unto us through your NAME. (Remember that it was Yahweh the Father who dwelt in His human Son Jesus who did the works, according to John 14:10. So even before the cross, it was the name of Yahweh that the devils feared) 18. And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fell from heaven. 19. Behold, I GIVE unto you the POWER to tread on serpents and scorpions, and OVER ALL the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. 20. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.”
The first thing I want you to notice is that there were at least seventy more followers or disciples of Jesus other than the original twelve that Jesus had chosen. I say this because through the years I have heard Christians use the excuse, “Well that was the apostles that did those things, I am just a normal Christian, I could not do the things the apostles did”. Now, these other seventy are all that we are told about at this point in time, BUT there were more disciples, followers, or BELIEVERS in Jesus as you will soon learn about if you finish reading this study. This brings me to the second point I want you to see. Jesus sent the seventy into different cities two by two and told them to HEAL the sick that are in these cities IF they RECEIVED them. In other words, if those who heard the preaching and teaching of the disciples of Jesus BELIEVED what they were preaching was the TRUTH, then they were to lay hands on the sick and heal them. I want you to see and understand this because you see, often times we find ourselves in situations where we ourselves have the faith and are believing God to heal someone in his mighty NAME, but we failed to perceive if the person who was sick was in fact truly RECEIVING, that is to say, we do not know their heart and if they were truly BELIEVING that they are healed. Let me show you what I mean by this.
First, read Acts 10:38 which says.
“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good and healing ALL that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.”
Now I have emphasized the word “ALL” here in this verse to make a point, which I believe few Christians have come to realize. Many have used this verse of Scripture as well as with many other verses throughout the Bible to teach that Jesus healed everyone who was sick and oppressed of the devil. Please notice that they were NOT oppressed by God, but rather, they were oppressed by God's ENEMY, Satan, the Devil. This is simply not the WHOLE TRUTH. Please stay with me and I will explain what I mean by this. First I want to emphatically state that without a doubt that it is God's WILL to heal everyone and keep everyone in perfect health, just as it is God's perfect WILL that NO man should perish, but that EVERY man should COME to the knowledge of the TRUTH and be saved. Are you following what I am saying so far? You see, it may be God's WILL that NO man should perish, but not ALL of mankind is going to RECEIVE this salvation that has ALREADY been provided for them. You see, it REQUIRES FAITH or BELIEVING on the part of the INDIVIDUAL who is lost to RECEIVE their salvation. My faith cannot save another person. Now, my faith can HELP a person be saved but in the end, THEY must BELIEVE in order to be saved. Now please understand that the person preaching or teaching the gospel of salvation when this particular individual certainly BELIEVES with ALL their heart that it is God's WILL to save this person and tries desperately to share and teach the word of God to them, but ULTIMATELY it is the FAITH of the INDIVIDUAL, who is being taught the word of God, that is the deciding factor of whether or not this person HEARING the gospel of salvation will be saved. My faith ALONE cannot save another person. Your faith alone cannot heal another person. All we can do is to tell them of the GOOD news of Jesus Christ and pray that their eyes of UNDERSTANDING be opened and enlightened. Please read the study “E-13. Saved by Grace through FAITH!” for a deeper understanding of the true Biblical faith concerning that how that on some days it seems we can move mountains and yet other days it is a struggle just to stay afloat and discover WHY this is? Likewise, I cannot heal someone with my faith alone. They themselves must believe. Now I know there are some who do not agree with what I just said, but you have not heard the WHOLE MATTER, so just bear with me and continue reading. So with this in mind, the TRUTH that God requires the FAITH of each and every one of us to RECEIVE from him the blessings that he has already freely provided for each and every individual, I want you to read two verses of scripture.
The first verse is found in Matthew 13:58, which says.
“And he (Speaking of Jesus himself) did NOT do many mighty works there, (WHY?) because of THEIR UNBELIEF.”
Then Mark 6:5,6 says it like this.
“And he (Again, speaking of Jesus himself) could do NO mighty work there, EXCEPT that he laid his hand on a FEW sick folks, and healed them. 6. And he MARVELED at THEIR UNBELIEF. And he went about the villages, TEACHING.”
You see my dear brothers and sisters in the Lord, it was NOT because God did not want or desire them to be healed that was the reason for them not being healed, but rather the VERY REASON why they did not RECEIVE their healing was BECAUSE of their OWN unbelief which caused them to miss out on the blessings of God. This is a whole other study in which you will find a great deal of information in the study I mentioned above “E-13. Saved by Grace through FAITH!” Please take the time to read it even if you think you already know all there is about faith. It never hurts to put a fresh supply of God's word into our spirit. So my second point is that even though it may be God's WILL for everyone to be delivered, set free, rescued, healed, protected, and saved; not everyone has COME to this KNOWLEDGE of TRUTH and has RECEIVED or BELIEVED this knowledge of the truth for themselves. Therefore, we must keep teaching them the WHOLE word of God and pray that their eyes of understanding be opened. Please read the study called “E-12. WHAT DOES BEING SAVED TRULY MEAN?” I believe that it will help you to come to truly understand what God has ALREADY provided for us through the blood of Jesus, his death, and resurrection. In other words, there are many BENFITS that come with being saved and HEALING of our physical bodies is just one of those benefits. This is where learning about YOUR AUTHORITY will greatly benefit you. Not only you in your own life but in the lives of others as well. Stay with me and I will explain what I mean. When I first learned to pray in the AUTHORITY of the NAME of Jesus, my prayers that were answered climbed to literally nearly 100% compared to less than 10% of answered prayers BEFORE I CAME to this KNOWLEDGE of the TRUTH. For example, I used to pray by asking God, and even sometimes begging God. And unknown to me at the time, I was not asking in faith but merely HOPING that God would hear and answer my prayers. Then I learned what God had ALREADY provided for me through his word and I stopped asking God and began RECEIVING from God by WALKING in the light of God's word that the Holy Spirit revealed to me through reading and studying the Bible. I simply began RESISTING the devil and taking AUTHORITY over Satan in the NAME of Jesus. Here is what I mean. When the SYMPTOMS of the flu would come upon me I would speak to the “mountain”, which was the flu in this instance and COMMAND it, the mountain, or in this case, the flu, to leave my body in the NAME of Jesus, the name above EVERY name. I would call the mountain by NAME, which in this case was the flu or whatever the enemy may be trying to oppress you with at any given time. For example, I would speak directly to the flu and the symptoms of the flu and say, “Flu I command you in the name of Jesus to leave my body NOW. Flu you have no right in my body because I am a child of God and with the stripes of Jesus I am healed.” Then I would tell Satan, “It is written, you are a liar and the father of lies and there is no truth in you, I hold up the shield of faith against you quenching all your fiery darts (lies). And I RESIST you Satan and all your lying symptoms of the flu in the NAME of Jesus.” Knowing full well that the word of God says resist the devil and he WILL, without fail, flee from you. Of this TRUTH, my dear brothers and sisters in the Lord, you can be assured without a doubt. Now I know that the word of God does not say it exactly this way, but this is the way I RECEIVED this TRUTH into my spirit. If I know anything at all, this much I know without a doubt. “If you RESIST the enemy, Satan the devil, he WILL, without fail, flee from you, IF you DO NOT waver in your faith in resisting him.” Christians from every denomination, including the so-called “faith fanatics, the name it and claim it folks” have been deceived by the enemy on some levels of their FULL authority of the NAME of Jesus. How do I know this? Because the word of God says that we will know the tree by the FRUIT that it bears, and I do NOT see the fruit being produced on the level that Jesus produced, let alone the GREATER WORKS that Jesus said we would do as believers. I will say more about this later in this study. But for now, let's continue with the AUTHORITY and POWER of the NAME of Jesus by looking at the WHOLE word of God that clearly teaches that Jesus GAVE this power and authority not ONLY to the twelve apostles or even the seventy other disciples alone but rather Jesus gave AUTHORITY and POWER to ALL that BELIEVE and follow his teachings.
Read Mark 9:38-42 which says.
“And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one CASTING out devils in YOUR NAME, and he follows not us; and we forbade him because he follows not us. 39. But Jesus said, Forbid him NOT: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my NAME, that can lightly speak evil of me. (Just because other Christians do NOT follow what YOUR church denomination teaches does NOT mean that they are not Christians. It is a sad thing to see churches kicking out Christians from their church for simply QUESTIONING church doctrines that are not AGREEING with the whole word of Almighty God) 40. For he that is not against us is on our part. 41. For whosoever shall give a cup of water to drink in my NAME because you belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward. 42. And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone was hung around his neck, and he was cast into the sea.”
So my dear brothers and sisters, be very careful in what you say to others about the way other brothers and sisters believe, lest you offend one of them. They can ONLY believe what they have come to HEAR, and perhaps they have not heard the WHOLE word of God in that particular area that the enemy is trying to cause strife and division between you and them. Please read the study called “F-25. JUDGE NOT LEST YOU BE JUDGED” to come to the understanding of what it truly means to judge. My point is this, getting back on the subject at hand, that even one who was not considered to be a “follower” of Jesus, in that he tagged along with the twelve and the other seventy of Jesus' disciples, or in a particular group or denomination, he was nonetheless still a BELIEVER of the teachings of Jesus, at least in this area of having AUTHORITY over the devils and sickness and disease. Are you following what I am saying? He may not have heard and understood every doctrine or teaching that Jesus taught, but one thing for sure, he KNEW without a doubt that he had AUTHORITY and POWER over the devils, sickness, and disease in the NAME of Jesus. So you see the prerequisite for RECEIVING and walking in this POWER and AUTHORITY in the NAME of Jesus is to BELIEVE. Keep reading, there is still more proof of this in the word of God that you yourself have every right and privilege to this same authority that Jesus himself and the original twelve apostles possessed. Remember that in Mark 16:14-18 Jesus upbraided his disciples for THEIR UNBELIEF and the hardness of their heart, because they believed NOT, and then he commissioned them, as well as to ALL that would come to BELIEVE on Jesus and the power of his NAME, to preach and teach the gospel to every creature, that is to say, every person we come in contact with. And then Jesus goes on to say that WHOSOEVER hears and BELIEVES shall be saved. And that these SIGNS shall follow those that truly believe in me and in my NAME. They, those that truly BELIEVE, will cast out devils, they shall speak with new tongues, they shall take up serpents, they shall drink any deadly thing and it will not hurt them and they shall lay their hands upon the sick and they SHALL RECOVER without FAIL.
Now please read from John 17:17-20 where Jesus is praying to his Father in heaven the following prayer.
“Sanctify them through your TRUTH: your word is TRUTH. 18. As you have sent me into the world, EVEN SO, I have ALSO sent them into the world. 19. And for their sake, I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through your TRUTH. 20. Neither do I pray for these ALONE, but for them ALSO which BELIEVE on me through their word.”
And that means every one of us who BELIEVES in Jesus as the atonement for our sins. So here you can CLEARLY see that everyone that HEARS the TRUTH of the WHOLE word of God and RECEIVES or BELIEVES this truth I forgiven of all their past sins. But the Bible also says that we must endure unto the end to be saved. So then, we must be a DOER of the word of God and not a hearer only, deceiving their own self. And a DOER of the word will act upon the word of TRUTH and walk in their AUTHORITY and POWER that they have been given by Almighty God, the Father, himself, and RESIST the enemy, Satan, the devil. They will speak to the mountain to be removed and be cast into the sea and it shall OBEY them. And by the mountain, I mean the oppression from Satan You see, the only cure or remedy for UNBELIEF is HEARING and UNDERSTANDING the word of God, and then acting upon what we have learned. So if you are NOT doing the works of Jesus, then you are NOT walking in your FULL authority as a believer. Therefore you need to get into the word of God and STUDY his word, meditating on it day and night, until you come to the knowledge of truth and begin to bear the fruit that God desires you to bear.
DO NOT be OVERCOME by the ENEMY ANY LONGER. Get to KNOW WHO YOU ARE in CHRIST JESUS and TAKE AUTHORITY OVER the ENEMY!
Romans 10:17 says.
“So then faith COMES (HOW?) by HEARING, AND hearing (That is to say, true UNDERSTANDING comes only) by the word of God (Or more precisely by the WHOLE word of God).”
Remember when I told you that Jesus COULD NOT do any mighty work, BECAUSE of the UNBELIEF of the people and he marveled at their unbelief? What did Jesus do then? Did he throw in the towel, so to speak, and give up saying within himself, “This faith stuff does not work, I believed and had faith and they did not receive their healing, so therefore it must not be God's will to heal everyone all the time?” Did Jesus do this, like we often hear so many Christians today falsely speak and even teach? No, he did not! But rather Jesus went about the villages round about TEACHING. WHY? Because he knew that getting them to come to the KNOWLEDGE of the TRUTH and RECEIVING the word of God in their hearts was the only way to get them DELIVERED from the snare of the enemy. Please read Hebrews 3:12 through chapter four, verse 3, which teaches us the dangers of UNBELIEF.
Hebrews 3:12-19.
“Take HEED, brethren, lest (or for fear that) there be in any of you an EVIL heart of UNBELIEF in departing from the living God. 13. But exhort one another DAILY, while it is called today, lest any of you be hardened through the DECEITFULNESS of sin. 14. For we are made partakers of Christ, IF we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast unto the end; 15. While it is said, Today if you will HEAR his voice (Or if we will believe the words that Jesus teaches unto us), harden NOT your hearts as in the provocation. 16. For some, when they had HEARD, did provoke: however, not all came out of Egypt by Moses. 17. But with whom was he grieved forty years? Was it not with them that sinned, whose carcasses fell in the wilderness? 18. And to whom swore he that they should NOT enter into his rest, but to them that BELIEVE NOT? 19. So we see that they COULD NOT enter in (WHY could they not enter in?) because of THEIR UNBELIEF.
Hebrews 4:1-3.
Let us THEREFORE fear, lest, a PROMISE being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. 2. For unto us was the gospel PREACHED, as WELL as unto them: BUT the word preached did NOT PROFIT them (WHY?) NOT being MIXED with FAITH in them that heard it. 3. For we who have BELIEVED do enter into rest, as he said, as I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: ALTHOUGH the works were FINISHED from the foundation of the world.”
So what does this mean? It means that God has set before us life and death, blessing and cursing, therefore CHOOSE life, so that you and your seed may live. Even though the work has ALREADY been done and established before the foundation of the world and it is God's WILL that we ALL come to the knowledge of the TRUTH and be saved, God has ALSO foreordained that we are given the CHOICE of whom we shall serve. Whether it be God or God's enemy, Satan, the devil. We can either chose to humble ourselves and BELIEVE the WHOLE word of God, or we can be DECEIVED by our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus, who Satan is using to get you to believe a lie by teaching you only PART of the word of God. You see, the devil has deceived many Christians at one time or another, including myself into believing a lie, which is only a part of the Bible, but in fact, is NOT the WHOLE word of God. You see, Satan will use PART of the word of God, taken out of context, and DECEIVE those of us who do not search the word of God for ourselves to find out if what we are being taught is the TRUTH of the WHOLE word of God. I was deceived for many years in many different areas of God's word by the teachings of others who I trusted and completely believed that they were speaking the truth. But little by little as I read and studied the word of God for myself I began to see things in the word that seemed to CONTRADICT the things that I was previously taught. I knew in my heart that the word of God will not contradict itself, so I sought the Lord to know the TRUTH of the matter, the WHOLE truth, and nothing but the truth. Please understand and know that these Christians, who have been taught incorrectly and who go and simply REPEAT what they themselves have heard, sincerely believing what they have been taught is the truth without verifying it with the WHOLE word of God, they then repeat to other unsuspecting Christians what they themselves have been taught and then these Christians in turn go and do the same thing. This is how we get all these “traditions of men and doctrines of devils” as the word of God calls them. They simply do not know at this point in time that they have been deceived by the enemy to believe a lie based on only a misrepresented part of God's word. Well enough said on this topic, let us continue with the main subject, which is the AUTHORITY and POWER that each and EVERY BELIEVER possesses in the NAME of Jesus, the name above every name that is named. So far we have learned that Jesus has ALL authority and power given to him of his Father, Almighty God, and that God himself stands behind and ENFORCES this authority through the Holy Spirit. Please read the study called “N-3. JESUS THE SON OF MAN” for a deeper understanding of why Jesus has this authority in the first place and how we may ALSO walk as Jesus walked upon the earth, living our lives free from sin and doing the works that Jesus did through the Holy Spirit of the living and only true wise God, the Father. Then we learned that Jesus delegated this authority to not only his original twelve disciples, and then to the other seventy, but ALSO to ALL that believe the word of God that is preached or taught to them through studies such as this that you are reading now. This is not to say that there are not other good studies written by others that you read or hear. But rather, than JUST reading the studies of others, I want to encourage you even more so to read and study the word of God for yourself to be taught by the Holy Spirit. In other words, WHOSOEVER BELIEVES, that is to say, RECEIVES the word of God into their heart as the TRUTH and become doers of the word and not hearers only, then these SIGNS shall follow them that BELIEVE. God is FAITHFUL and he will ALWAYS confirm his word with signs following IF we truly believe and waver NOT in our faith unto the END. The end of what? To the END of whatever we are in the process of BELIEVING for at the time. We must CONTINUE steadfast in our faith UNTIL we RECEIVE that which we are believing for, is MANIFESTED in our lives. Let's continue this study by reading a few verses from the book of Acts, which got its name from the “acts” or works of the apostles, disciples, and the early church believers. Please read the entire passage of Acts 3:1-16 which tells us of Peter and John healing a man that was born crippled. I will quote only a few verses from this passage to give you the highlights. Acts 3:6 says. “Then Peter said, Silver and gold, have I none, but such as I HAVE, give I to you: In the NAME of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.”
Please take notice that Peter did not ask or beg God to heal this man, but rather took the AUTHORITY that is given to EVERY believer and COMMANDED that this man rise up and walk in the NAME of Jesus. Now those who witnessed this miracle of healing and being made whole began to wonder and marvel at Peter and John who healed this man, and Peter perceived that they were thinking that he and John healed this man by their OWN power. Peter then set the record straight in verse 12.
Acts 3:12. “And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, You men of Israel, why marvel you at this? Or why do you look so earnestly on us, as though by our OWN POWER we had made this man to walk?” Notice that Peter and John were quick to give God all the glory for healing this man and made the people understand that it was NOT their OWN power that healed this man, but rather this man's OWN FAITH in the NAME of Jesus, which caused this man to be healed. Look at Acts 3:16, which explains all of this.
“And his NAME (The name of Jesus, the Son of God) through FAITH in his NAME has made this man strong, whom you see and know: yea, (Yes or truly) the FAITH which is by him (Speaking of the man who received his healing through his own FAITH in the NAME of Jesus and the words of Peter) has given him this PERFECT soundness in the presence of you all.”
Notice that it was not the faith of Peter and John that healed this man, but rather the FAITH of the man in the NAME of Jesus that made him whole. If you study the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, you will see that Jesus ALWAYS accredited the REASON for RECEIVING the healing or deliverance to the FAITH of the INDIVIDUAL that Jesus prayed for using his AUTHORITY that his God and Father had given him. Please read the study entitled “E-12. WHAT DOES BEING SAVED TRULY MEAN?” for a deeper understanding of this subject. Let's move on to Acts 4:1-14 where we find Peter and John on trial for healing this man. In verse 7 we read that they are asked by what power or in what NAME they did these things.
Acts 4:7. “And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what NAME, have you done this?” Then in verse 10, Peter tells them this.
Acts 4:10.
“Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the NAME of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you have crucified, whom God has raised from the dead, even by him does this man stand before you WHOLE.”
Now read verse 12. “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is NONE other NAME under heaven given among men, whereby we MUST be saved.”
Jesus came in the NAME OF Yahweh as Yahweh's Christ which means both Yahweh's ANOINTED as prophesied to come and Yahweh's Messiah prophesied to come. The NAME Jesus is the Greek name for the Hebrew name Yeshua which means Yahweh's salvation or the salvation of Yahweh or Yahweh saves. Yahweh chose the WAY of salvation to be through a MAN who he prophesied to raise up from among the people whom he would ANOINT to accomplish the task that Yahweh would send his Messiah into the world to accomplish THROUGH the eternal Spirit DWELLING IN him. Please read the study on “E-12. WHAT DOES IT TRULY MEAN TO BE SAVED?” and “E-4. HOW CAN I BE SAVED?” for a deeper understanding of all the benefits of salvation and how to walk in them. Studying the word of God is like learning math, you have to learn the basics of counting, then adding and subtracting before you can move on to understanding higher levels of math such as algebra and calculus. And if you do not keep using and practicing math, then you will forget some of the formulas and become rusty or slow in your calculations. Likewise these basic subjects in God's word, which we think we may already know need to be reviewed from time to time to keep putting a fresh supply of God's word into our hearts. Just because you once ate a baked potato does not mean that you can never eat another baked potato again. You may THINK you remember how good that baked potato was, but until you eat another fresh, hot out of the oven, baked potato your senses remind you that you ONLY THOUGHT you remembered. The same is true of God's word. There is nothing like devouring a fresh supply of God's word.
Let us continue with Acts 16:16-18 which reads.
“And it came to pass as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a devil with a spirit of divination met with us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying: 17. The same followed Paul and us many days, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the Highest God which show us the way to salvation. 18. And this she did for many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I COMMAND you in the NAME of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out of her the same hour.”
Paul was not one of the original twelve apostles or of the other seventy disciples of Jesus, yet he had received power and authority in the NAME of Jesus, by personally hearing from God through a vision on the road to Damascus and then having another believer pray over him to receive the Holy Spirit. You can read about this in the book of Acts. Now I personally believe this spirit of divination that Paul finally, after many days, took AUTHORITY over and cast out in the NAME of Jesus was Paul's thorn in the flesh. Paul thought he knew the word of God, but it took Paul to commune with God several times before Paul UNDERSTOOD what to do. Please read the study “H-6. WHAT WAS PAUL'S THORN in the FLESH” and “E-23. THE TRUE MEANING OF GRACE” to fully understand what God meant when he told Paul, “My grace is sufficient for you”.
2 Corinthians 5:20 tells us that we are ambassadors for Christ.
“Now are we AMBASSADORS for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be you reconciled to God.”
The meaning of this word “ambassador” is a diplomatic official of the HIGHEST RANK appointed and accredited as a REPRESENTATIVE in residence by one government to another. Simply put we have been given the HIGHEST RANK to represent the kingdom of Almighty God to the world. We are appointed in Christ's STEAD as a diplomat, so to speak, to represent the nature of God to the world. Jesus said that we are in the world, but not of the world. This present world is under the dominion of Satan, who the Bible says is the god of this world. But Jesus also said, “Be of good cheer, for I have OVERCOME the world”. The word “stead” means the place or position of another in their NAME. And Jesus was sent out into the world to preach the kingdom and do all Yahweh told him to do IN the NAME of Yahweh. So, like we are ambassadors FOR our Lord Jesus the Christ, so was Jesus an ambassador FOR his God and Father Yahweh. And the word “stead” also means to be of an advantage or benefit to you. The entire world, all of humanity, has already been reconciled to God, and we as Christ's ambassadors have been appointed with the mission of preaching this reconciliation to the world. The word “reconcile” means to RE-ESTABLISH friendship between, to bring to acquiescence, which means to humbly submit and agree with God that, “Hey, I admit I was wrong and have sinned and come short of your expectation of me, please forgive me and help me to live a life that is pleasing to your eyes Lord from this day forward until you come again”. God's word says, “How can two people or persons walk together except they AGREE.” Being reconciled to God means that we do not resist the TRUTH of his word and try to make excuses for our actions, but rather come into AGREEMENT with his word and do the things he COMMANDS us to do through or by FAITH. Please read the study called “F-12. HOW YOU CAN LIVE YOUR LIFE FREE FROM SIN!” It will help you to understand how to appropriate the word of God and use your AUTHORITY to OVERCOME the enemy. Let's continue now by reading the passage of Scripture found in Matthew 17:14-21. Matthew 17:14-21.
“And when they came to the multitude, there came to him (Jesus) a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying, 15. Lord have mercy on my son: for he is a lunatic, and sore vexed: for oftentimes he falls in the fire, and often into the water. 16. And I brought him to your disciples, and THEY COULD NOT CURE him. (Now I want you to think about WHY? Think about WHY they could not cure this man's son? Remember that they had been given AUTHORITY over ALL the power of the enemy. They had already cast out other devils, so WHY could they not cure this man's son. Jesus tells us why straightforward with no sugar coating on his answer.) 17. Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I suffer you? Bring him hither to me. 18. And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him and the child was cured from that very hour. 19. Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, WHY COULD WE NOT CAST him out? 20. And Jesus said unto them, BECAUSE of YOUR UNBELIEF: for verily I say unto you, IF you have FAITH as a grain of a mustard seed, and you SAY unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place, and it SHALL remove; and NOTHING shall be impossible unto you. 21. However, this kind goes not out but by prayer and fasting.”
In other words, Jesus was saying that MOST of the time when you stand in your AUTHORITY in my NAME and you do not see the results in an appropriate amount of time, then it is simply because you have NOT truly BELIEVED. It is your UNBELIEF that is the problem. However, or howbeit, or sometimes, it is because you have not spent time in prayer and fasting before your Father in heaven to keep yourself pure and in close fellowship with him that is the reason why some devils will not obey your command to come out. People who we are praying for sometimes sense when we ourselves are wavering in our faith and thereby will not fully add their faith to ours and receive their healing. And then some try to save face by falsely teaching those that did not receive their healing that it may not be God's will to heal them or it may not be God's will to heal them at this particular time. Hey, I will be the first to admit that I have in the past not fully understood this truth from God's word and have failed to either receive deliverance for myself or for another. But thankfully I do not believe that I ever taught anyone that it was not God's will to heal them. But rather I turned to God's word and looked diligently for the reason WHY I could easily receive healing at times and then at other times would even fail to receive healing? God faithfully led me through his word with the leading and teaching of his Holy Spirit and now I am sharing with you what he has shown me thus far. First of all ALWAYS remember that you have been given FULL and COMPLETE AUTHORITY over ALL the power of the enemy and that ALL devils are subject unto you in his mighty NAME, the name that is FAR ABOVE every name that is named in heaven and in the earth and under the earth. NEVER forget this TRUTH. If you face defeat, be assured that it is ONLY TEMPORARY and God will teach you where you missed it, IF you will humbly submit yourself to him and ASK believing that he will show you in his word what to do in order to OVERCOME the enemy in EVERY circumstance. Please understand that FAITH is a FIGHT and one must TRAIN and be in shape to fight. Stay in the word of God and study to show yourself approved. In other words, it was Almighty God DWELLING in the HUMAN Jesus who did the WORKS as the ANOINTED human Jesus OBEYED the leading of the Holy Spirit dwelling in him. And now we can live without sin and do the SAME works that Jesus did TRHOUGH the SAME Holy Spirit DWELLING in us and believers in Jesus as our Lord and Savior.
