HEBREWS
1:8
"THEOS"
Is
Jesus "GOD", as in, the ONE TRUE ALMIGHTY GOD
or
Is
Jesus a "God", as in, being HIGHLY EXALTED by Almighty God
the Father to BECOME "A" God after the cross?
Here
is my explanation of Hebrews 1:8. I always try to share with my
readers the vital importance of keeping this verse in the context of
where it is found when interpreting what that verse means. And also
as equally important is to then compare your interpretation with
other scriptures so that there is no contradiction with the WHOLE
word of God.
So
then, here is Hebrews 1:8 in its context:
"For
unto which of the angels said he at any time, You are my Son, THIS
DAY have I begotten
you?
And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
6. And again, WHEN
he
brings in the first begotten into the world, he says, And LET
all the angels of God worship him.
7. And of the angels he says, Who makes his angels spirits,
and his ministers a flame of fire.
8. But unto the Son he
says, Your throne, O God (or your throne O "THEOS"), is for
ever and ever: a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of your
kingdom.
9. You
have loved righteousness, and hated iniquity;
THEREFORE
(or
for this REASON)
God, EVEN
YOUR
God, has anointed
you with
the oil of gladness
above
your
fellows."
The
first thing I want to point out is that the Greek word "THEOS"
which the TRANSLATORS chose to TRANSLATE into the English word "God"
with a capital "G" can also be translated as "god"
with a lower case "g" as it is when this same Greek word
"THEOS" is use to refer to Satan, the Devil in 2
Corinthians 4:4, which says,
"In
whom the god (THEOS,
the exact same Greek word used in Hebrews 1:8 when used to refer to
the Son of Almighty God the Father, the THEOS)
of this world has blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest
the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the IMAGE of God,
should shine unto them."
This
Greek word "theos" is equivalent to the Hebrew word
"ELOHIM" in the Old Testament that is used to refer to
Almighty God, the angels, and mankind. On of the meaning of "elohim"
means mighty one, so Almighty God is the mightiest of all mighty
ones, he is the MOST HIGH GOD. Jesus is a god whom Almighty God his
God and Father has highly EXALTED and GIVEN his place to rule and
reign by his SIDE. Jesus is, has been and always will be UNDER and
SUBJECT unto his God and Father Almighty God the most high God.
In Hebrews 1:6 we see that it is WHEN Almighty God BRINGS in
AGAIN his Son into the Earth that he will say LET all the angels
worship him. When Jesus comes again at his second coming Almighty God
will place his Son over his kingdom and Jesus will reign for 1000
years and then at then end of the 1000 years Jesus will commit the
kingdom of his God and Father back into the hands of his Father
Almighty God.
So then is Jesus "THEOS"?
Absolutely! Because his God and Father HIGHLY EXALTED his to be so.
Ever thing Jesus has or is has been GIVEN to him of his God and
Father Almighty God the Father the most high God.
Also
keep in mind that Satan, who is a fallen angel is a "THEOS"
and also MAN is called a "THEOS" as well, but this does not
make Satan, nor man THE God, as in Almighty God.
So why then does the doctrine of the trinity try and
make Jesus the Son of God to be THE God and EQUAL to Almighty God the
Father in EVERY way where neither is GREATER than or LESS than the
other?
To ME I see Jesus as being the ANOINTED one of Almighty
God who is SENT BY God to be a LIGHT
in the world
FOR The ONE
TRUE Almighty God, so that we would KNOW that the FATHER is the ONE
TRUE GOD. This is what Jesus himself teaches us in John 17:3 which
says,
"And
THIS is life
eternal, that
they might know YOU the
ONLY TRUE God,
AND Jesus Christ, whom YOU have sent."
Then
in 2 John 1:6-9 we are taught that we must believe in the doctrine
of CHRIST which was a commandment given to us from the
beginning. And IF we believe in the doctrine or
teaching that Jesus is the CHRIST of the ANOINTED ONE of Almighty God
the Father, then we have BOTH the FATHER and the SON.
"And THIS is love, that
we walk after his commandments. THIS is the commandment, That,
as ye have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it. (WHAT
commandment and WHY do we need to walk in it?)
7.
FOR (or BEACAUSE) many
deceivers are entered into the world, who confess NOT that Jesus
Christ is come in the FLESH. This is a deceiver and an
antichrist.
8. Look to yourselves, that
we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a
full reward.
9. Whosoever transgresses,
and abides NOT in the doctrine of Christ (the
teaching that Jesus was ANOINTED by Almighty God the Father),
has NOT God. He that abides IN the doctrine of Christ (or
BELIEVES IN the teaching that Jesus the SON of God was ANOINTED by
Almighty God his God and Father with the Holy Spirit to do the works
that he did, THEN), he has BOTH the Father
and the Son."
In other words, the WORD of Almighty God was MADE FLESH
and dwelt among us as a MAN a HUMAN BEING just like you and I who was
ANOINTED with the Holy Spirit BY his God and Father, the ONE TRUE and
ONLY WISE Almighty God. Then WHEN Jesus became OBEDIENT unto death on
the cross, his God and Father HIGHLY EXALTED his SON Jesus to be a
"THEOS" and sit at the right hand of the ONE TRUE Almighty
God and rule over his kingdom for 1000 years.
So YES Jesus is a "THEOS", but Jesus is NOT
THE ONE TRUE Almighty "THEOS".
For a deeper understanding on this subject of Jesus
being a theos along side his theos and Father the ONLY TRUE Almighty
theos then please read the following studies in God's word of TRUTH,
the Holy Bible.
May God bless you richly as you seek the TRUTH of the
WHOLE word of God. Your brother in our Lord Jesus the CHRIST.
