Gg-6. Jesus, the GREATEST PROPHET OF ALL TIME! Both the Jews and the Muslims know and understand that Jesus is one of the many PROPHETS of Almighty God the Father, but what the Jews and the Muslims have not been shown is that is Jesus who was SPECIFICALLY PROPHESIED to be THE Prophet of Almighty God to establish God’s NEW COVENANT. And even some Christians have not truly been taught this truth that Jesus is THE Prophet that was prophesied to be a specific Prophet of Almighty God. So then, let us begin this study in God's word by reading the passage of Scripture where Jesus himself called himself a Prophet. Please read Matthew 6:1-6 while understanding that right after Jesus had just raised a young maiden from the dead by the power of Almighty God, he left that place to go to his own hometown where he grew up as a child. And that is where Jesus told his own family that he was a Prophet of God, but they did not believe him. Matthew 6:1-6. “And he went out from that place, and came into his OWN country; and his disciples followed him. 2. And when the Sabbath day had come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, from where has this man these things? And what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands? (Here we see that the Jews who knew Jesus as a child growing up had heard other Jews say what mighty works of healing were being done by God through Jesus, but yet, they DOUBTED what they heard from others that God was WITH Jesus. Now, the other Jews who did believe that Jesus was THAT Prophet prophesied to come defended Jesus saying, “How can a MAN heal the blind except God be WITH him?” But the Jews who knew Jesus as a child growing up DOUBTED that Jesus was called by God to be God’s Prophet. They said) 3. Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Judah, and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him. 4. But Jesus said unto them, A PROPHET is not without honor, but in his OWN country, and among his OWN kin, and in his OWN house. 5. And he could NOT do any mighty work there, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. 6. And he marveled because of their UNBELIEF. And he went round about the villages, TEACHING.” So clearly, Jesus was a MAN called by his God to be God’s PROPHET. But that is not ALL that God called Jesus to do. So then, Jesus was MORE than just the GREATEST of ALL Prophets as you will see in other parts of this series of studies on who Jesus TRULY is, according to the Bible ITSELF, and NOT according to church TRADITION. Now, Muslims say that Muhammad is the greatest prophet of all by supposedly being the LAST prophet of God. But I will show you why Muhammad is NOT the greatest prophet of all and even why Muhammad is NOT the LAST prophet of God either. But first, I want to show you that Jesus was PROPHESIED in the Old Testament Scripture by the prophet Moses in Deuteronomy 18:15-22. For you see, according to several verses of Scripture in the New Testament, the Jews were looking for THAT SPECIFIC Prophet that God promised to raise up among the people like unto Moses that Moses himself prophesied would come. Deuteronomy 18:15-22. “The LORD your God will raise up unto you a Prophet from the midst of you, of your brethren, like unto me; unto him you shall HEARKEN; (Or him you shall FOLLOW and OBEY his teachings) 16. According to all that you desired of the LORD your God in Horeb on the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not. (The heart’s desire of the Jews who heard the thundering voice of Almighty God was to have a Prophet tell them what God told his Prophet and they would OBEY that Prophet. But, little did they know that it was Almighty God who GAVE them those desires of their heart so that He could FULFILL the God given desires of their heart, according to Psalm 21:2) 17. And the LORD said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken. 18. I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto you, and will put My words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. 19. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will NOT hearken unto My words which he shall speak in My name, I will require it of him. (Now, it is vitally important to know WHO this Prophet that God raised up, because WHOSOEVER does NOT hearken to THAT SPECIFIC Prophet will have to answer to Almighty God Himself the ONLY TRUE God in ONE PERSON whose NAME is Yahweh forever, according to the prophet Moses in Exodus 3:15. Now, all Christians believe that Jesus is THAT Prophet who was prophesied by Almighty God to be raised up from among his BRETHREN, the Jews. But the Muslims believe that it was Muhammad. So WHICH is it, Jesus or Muhammad? Which PROPHET should people follow, Jesus or Muhammad? Both the Christians and the Muslims cannot be right and that means that only ONE group of people is following the TRUE PROPHET of Almighty God and the other group of people is following what Almighty God Himself wants them to follow. In other words, ALL prophets AFTER Jesus MUST teach people to FOLLOW Jesus as they themselves FOLLOW Jesus. Even Muhammad said if you have any questions, then go and ask the people of the BOOK, referring to the Christians and their BIBLE) 20. But the prophet, who shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die. (Or shall be worthy of death, speaking of the second death on the final Day of Judgment to be cast into the lake of fire that is commonly called Hell) 21. And if you say in your heart, How shall we KNOW the word which the LORD has NOT spoken? 22. When a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing follows not, nor comes to pass, that is the thing which the LORD has not spoken, but the prophet has spoken it presumptuously: you shall not be afraid of him.” In other words, put BOTH Jesus and Muhammad to Almighty God’s TEST to see WHO is the Prophet that Almighty God Himself prophesied to raise up from the midst of the BRETHREN of that Prophet. #1. Did everything Jesus prophesied come to pass? Yes they did! Jesus prophesied to the unbelieving Jews in John 5:43 that ANOTHER would come in his own name and that those people would believe him, which is a prophecy of Muhammad coming to the Arab people. Jesus prophesied the destruction of the Jewish temple, which came to pass in 70AD. And Jesus prophesied of his coming again, which is soon to be fulfilled. #2. Did Muhammad ever prophesy anything? If he did, then did it come to pass? If not, then Muhammad is NOT the Prophet that God desires us to HEARKEN to, according to Deuteronomy 18:15.
Let us begin God’s TEST to KNOW for sure WHO God’s Prophet is that God prophesied in Deuteronomy 18:15-22 to raise up from among the children of Israel who MUST be a direct descendant of Abraham through his son Isaac. In other words, Abraham had TWO sons, but God’s Prophet and Messiah must be born from the lineage of Isaac. Please read what Moses recorded in Genesis 17:15-21 as being the words of Almighty God speaking to Moses. Genesis 17:15-21. “And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be. 16. And I will bless her, and give you a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her. 17. Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is a hundred years old? And shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear? 18. And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before You! 19. And God said, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son indeed; and you shall call his name Isaac: and I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him. 20. And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation. 21. BUT My covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.” So then, criteria number one is that God’s prophesied Prophet in Deuteronomy 18:15-22 MUST be born in the lineage of Isaac and Jesus was indeed born in the lineage of Isaac, according to Matthew 1:1-17, which is also the lineage of Joseph who adopted Jesus, and also according to Luke 3:23-38, which is also the lineage of the Virgin Mary. In other words, Mary’s lineage had to be of the lineage of Abraham, through Isaac, and Jacob, but the lineage of Joseph did not necessarily have to be through Isaac, because Joseph was not the biological father of Jesus. For you see, God PROPHESIED to CREATE a new thing in Jeremiah 31:22. Let us go ahead and read that verse of Scripture with some context of God’s NEW Covenant that the Jews rejected when they rejected Jesus as not being God’s Messiah. THAT promised Prophet God prophesied to raise up from the seed of Isaac. Jeremiah 31:22, 31-33. “How long will you go about, O you backsliding daughter? For the LORD has CREATED a NEW THING in the earth, (A NEW THING is something that God has never done before and that NEW THIS is) A woman shall COMPASS a man… …31. Behold, the days come, said the LORD, that I will make a New Covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: (And according to Genesis 17:15-21 which we just read, God prophesied that He would make his COVENANT with the seed of Isaac which God renamed as Israel. That covenant was God’s FIRST covenant with the children of Israel. But here in Jeremiah God prophesied to make a NEW Covenant with the children of Israel) 32. NOT according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which My covenant they break, although I was an husband unto them, says the LORD: (The first covenant was UNTIL the Messiah came and then the NEW Covenant now replaces the FIRST covenant that God made through His prophet Moses) 33. BUT THIS shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, says the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.” So then, criteria number two is that the TRUE Prophet of God would establish a NEW Covenant with the children of Israel, the Jewish people through the lineage of Isaac. In other words, the TRUE Prophet prophesied in Deuteronomy 18:15-18 would preach the coming of God’s kingdom that would begin in the HEART within God’s chosen people, the Jews through the lineage of Isaac. Please read Luke 17:20,21. “And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God comes not with observation: 21. Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! For, behold, the kingdom of God is WITHIN you.” In other words, you must FIRST have the Kingdom of God WITHIN you before you can enter into God’s Kingdom in the world to come. To say this another way, you MUST be a born-again believer in Jesus as your Lord and Savior to receive eternal life in the world to come. So then, while the Bible teaches that Jesus was BORN to be the King of Israel, Jesus will not RULE as God’s King of Israel and the earth, until the world to come. But I am getting ahead of myself, so let me slow down and show you that some of the Jews understood the prophecy in Deuteronomy to look for a coming PROPHET who would be born in the lineage of Isaac. Criteria number three is that all of the prophecies of that TRUE Prophet prophesied in Deuteronomy 18:15-22 will ALSO be FULFILLED by that TRUE Prophet. In other words, the one to whom Almighty God prophesied to be His Prophet in Deuteronomy 18:15-22 must ALSO fulfill ALL of the other prophecies in the Scriptures in order to be that TRUE Prophet of Almighty God. And only Jesus has fulfilled ALL of those prophecies, whereas Muhammad did NOT fulfill ANY of the prophecies of being a prophet of the one true God of the Bible. Please read Matthew 21:1-11. “And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples, 2. Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway you shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me. 3. And if any man says ought unto you, you shall say, The Lord has need of them; and straightway he will send them. 4. All this was done, that it might be FULFILLED which was spoken by the prophet, saying, 5. Tell you the daughter of Sion, Behold, your King comes unto you, MEEK, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass. 6. And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them, 7. And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon. 8. And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way. 9. And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that comes in the NAME of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest. (So then, Jesus came in the NAME of Almighty God and NOT in his OWN name like Muhammad) 10. And when he had come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this? 11. And the MULTITUDE said, This is Jesus the PROPHET of Nazareth of Galilee.” Here we see that a MULTITUDE of Jews knew and understood that Jesus was that Prophet prophesied to come in Deuteronomy 18:15-22, because of OTHER prophecies that the TRUE Prophet would also FULFILL. And one of those OTHER prophecies of God’s TRUE Prophet was Zechariah 9:9 in the Old Testament Scriptures. So then, did Muhammad come riding on an ass like Jesus? Now, the Scriptures also prophesied that there would come a prophet BEFORE the one prophesied in Deuteronomy 18:15-22 to PREPARE the way before him. And that prophet right before Jesus was John the Baptist. Let us go ahead and read one of those prophecies of another prophet or messenger of Almighty God coming before the messenger of the COVENANT, which all Christians know full well to be Jesus of Nazareth. Malichi 3:1. “Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall PREPARE the WAY before me: (This means that Almighty God prophesied the He would send His messenger to MARK the WAY to Yahweh the ONLY true God and Jesus is that WAY, the ONLY WAY to the Father, according to John 14:6) and the Lord, whom you seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the COVENANT, whom you delight in: behold, he shall come, says the LORD of hosts.” Now, Jesus called John the Baptist the greatest prophet who ever lived and I wondered how could that be? And then I realized that it was John the Baptist who pointed to Jesus as being the Lamb of God who would take away the sins of the world. So then, Jesus is FAR more than the greatest Prophet of all, Jesus is ALSO the Messiah, the LAMB that Abraham prophesied that Yahweh would provide for Himself. John 1:29-34. “The next day John saw Jesus coming unto him, and said, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. (Did Muhammad take away the sin of the world? No! Then Muhammad is NOT that Prophet prophesied in Deuteronomy 18:15-22. But Jesus did when he obeyed his God and Father to lay down his own life of his own free will to be God’s LAMB slain for the ATONEMENT of the sins of the world) 30. This is he of whom I said, After me comes a MAN which is preferred before me: for he was before me. 31. And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore. I have come to baptize with water. 32. And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. (Did any prophet bare witness of Muhammad that he was the Lamb of God who would be slain for the sins of the world? No! So then, Muhammad is NOT the Prophet prophesied in Deuteronomy 18:15-22. But rather, Jesus is that Prophet that we must OBEY or Almighty God will deal with you on the Day of Judgment if you do NOT hearken to and obey the teachings of Jesus under the NEW Covenant written in the New Testament of the Bible) 33. And I knew him not: but He that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom you shall see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which shall baptize with the Holy Ghost. 34. And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.” Now, Muhammad teaches AGAINST Jesus by DENYING that Jesus is the SON OF God. And Yahweh does not take too kindly to those who DENY that Jesus is His SON. So I IMPLORE all Muslims and all Jews to read part 2 of this series of studies on the TRUE Jesus, according to the Bible ITSELF and NOT according to man-made church TRADITION that wrongly teaches that Jesus is Almighty God Himself in the flesh.
