Part 1 First, let me say that I am NOT teaching against RESTING or taking a day of rest. But rather, I am teaching that under the New Covenant written in the New Testament there is no teaching that Christians MUST rest one DAY every week lest the DISPLEASE God. Please read the study Dd-21. SABBATH-Saturday, Sunday, or NEITHER! So then, the purpose of this series of studies is to lead Christians to the TRUTH of the TRUE Gospel of Jesus Christ, who have FALLEN from GRACE, according to Galatians 5:1-15. And the purpose of this study is also to root and ground Christians deeper in the TRUTH of the Gospel of the TRUE of Jesus Christ. And WHEN Christians are rooted in the TRUTH, then they will never be deceived by doctrines of devils to obey FALSE teachings that only seem to be based on the Scriptures. For you see, every false doctrine is based on the Scriptures that have been taken out of their context and “INTERPRETED” incorrectly to form a man-made false doctrine that “sounds” pretty convincing at first. For example, a brother in the Lord wrote to me asking my opinion on what is the Gospel and I replied by explaining that the true gospel of Jesus Christ is the FULL gospel under the New Covenant written in the entire New Testament. And then I sent him a link to one of my studies. Here is a quote of what I wrote to him in an email. “Hi G____ In short, the true gospel of Jesus Christ is the FULL Gospel of Jesus Christ taught in the New Testament under the New Covenant. And the only way to know the FULL Gospel is to CORRECTLY interpret ALL of the Scriptures in the New testament. Here is a study to get you STARTED, E-7. What us the TRUE GOSPEL of Jesus CHRIST? After you read it you can make your own short OUTLINE.
Brother Mark.” His reply back to was, and I quote below. The emphasis is mine. “Mark, I already know what the gospel is, as scripture (KJV) clearly tells the poor in spirit what it is. I would think if you had read all of my initial email then you would have given me a point blank pithy answer to my question, instead of me having read that entire article, which is very lengthy and involved? The reason I asked that question is because you include His testimony (life, death, burial, resurrection, and ascension) to be of the gospel, when in actuality it is separate from it. (His testimony is how He makes it possible to do the gospel). Therefore because you still have need to understand what the gospel is, ,,” Then he writes back to me and tells me what the gospel means to him. And again, I quote with some of my own emphasis just to show you that while the Holy Spirit is in the “process” of leading Christians OUT of false teaching does NOT mean that Satan can no longer DECEIVE them into wrongly believing in yet ANOTHER false gospel. Kind of like the old saying, “out of the frying pan into the FIRE.” In other words, out of one false doctrine into ANOTHER false doctrine. I have said many times that Satan can NOT keep anyone from SEEKING the TRUTH but Satan can and does more than I like to admit lead them right back into a different deception. And in some cases, that new deception can be worse than the first deception. For you see, the EXPERIENCE they FELT was indeed the Holy Spirit LEADING them out of the FIRST false doctrine, but they did NOT come COMPLETELY out. But rather, Satan DECEIVED them yet again. Here is the quote from his email back to me with his INTERPRETATION of the gospel of Jesus Christ in just TWO words. “Mark, I wasn't baiting you. I simply asked you to tell me what the gospel is, which I can do in two words, His Law, the Ten Commandments. But you, on the other hand, go off on tangents within the scriptures, and NEVER come to that conclusion. ” Maybe he did not understand what baiting means. Baiting is when a person asks a question or gives a compliment so they can get a person's attention to talk to them with the intention of THEM telling a person THEIR belief to change what they already know the other person believes. In other words, the intention of this brother asking me what the gospel is was so that HE could tell me that I am not teaching Christians to KEEP the Law of Moses. His intention was to try and subvert me to change what I teach to what HE believes. Now, let me explain WHY I took the time to share with you what this brother in the Lord wrote to me and WHY I know with all of my heart that Satan has deceived him to wrongly believe another FALSE teaching that crept back into the church in the last of the last of last days. And I am talking about the false teaching of the seventh DAY of the WEEK Sabbath-keeping doctrine. For you see, all seventh DAY of the WEEK Sabbath-keeping Christians incorrectly “INTERPRET” the gospel written in the New Testament under the NEW COVENANT to mean to THEM that the gospel of Jesus Christ is the KEEPING of the LAW of Moses and the TEN Commandments as the Jews under the OLD Covenant. So then, they began in FAITH in Jesus to become true born again Christians, but then they wrongly ADDED the Old Covenant into the New Covenant as a MUST be kept in order to receive eternal life in the world to come. Now, by showing you HOW this brother in the Lord has become so deceived that he refuses to read the WHOLE matter of what I ACTUALLY teach, then YOU will not make the same error. In other words, by seeing his error of pointing his finger at me, accusing me of teaching a bunch of “CRAP”. then YOU will take the time to read the WHOLE matter before you wrongly accuse me of being a false teacher. First of all, this brother in the Lord says that I NEVER draw the conclusion that OBEYING the commandments of Jesus is PART of the gospel of Jesus Christ. And that is because he REFUSES to read the WHOLE matter of what I write in my studies to even have a clue of what I actually teach. He seems to think that it is a waste of time to read the WHOLE study that I have written. For you see, he THINKS he already knows the truth based upon the sincere EXPERIENCE that he experienced by the Holy Spirit leading him out of another false teaching. Now, I agree that he experience was indeed the Holy Spirit LEADING him out of the FALSE gospel of once saved always saved. In other words, he says that the Holy Spirit revealed to him that the short “SINNERS PRAYER” is not the gospel. And I agree with him, in that it is not the WHOLE gospel taught in the New Testament under the New Covenant. But rather, the sinner's prayer is only a PART of the rest of the gospel of Jesus Christ. And it takes ALL of the gospel in order to be the TRUTH of the TRUE gospel under the New Covenant written in the New Testament. So again, I truly believe that the Holy Spirit did indeed speak to this brother’s heart to lead him out of that particular false doctrine that wrongly teaches that a Christian can never lose their salvation no matter what they do or do not do. Please read ALL of the studies under the heading >>>F-0. Can we LOSE ETERNAL LIFE?<<< But again, during the PROCESS of the Holy Spirit LEADING him out of that particular false teaching, Satan came along and DECEIVED him to believe yet another doctrine of devils, which wrongly focus ALL of the gospel on WORKS of the law of commandments contained in ORDINANCES, which Jesus ABOLISHED on the cross, according to Ephesians 2:8-15 and Colossians 2:13-17,20-22. But when you TRULY search the Scriptures for yourself and TRY the spirits to see whether they are of God or whether they are of Satan, then I believe with all my heart and confess with my mouth that you will be no otherwise minded to be deceived by FALSE doctrine. So then, let us search the Scriptures together to learn the TRUTH of the TRUE Gospel of Jesus Christ by beginning with reason number one for why Christians MUST obey ONLY the New Covenant and CEASE from KEEPING any and all works of the LAW contained in ORDINANCES that Jesus ABOLISHED on the cross, according to Ephesians 2:8-15 and Colossians 2:13-17,20-23. And again, this is only ONE section of the WHOLE gospel that has been PERVERTED by another gospel. For you see, there are many other perversions of the true gospel which I cover under the different headings at the top of my homepage on AMatterOfTruth.com Reason #1. WHY Christians MUST obey ONLY the New Covenant and CEASE from KEEPING any and all works of the LAW contained in ORDINANCES that Jesus ABOLISHED on the cross? And reason #1 is Matthew 5:17-20, Jesus gave us LEAST commandments or LESS commandments. Please understand that I am “trying” to make my studies shorter for my brothers and sisters in our Lord Jesus Christ who seem to hate to read what the Bible itself teaches when the Scripture are EXPLAINED to them, especially when the explanation they read DISAGREES with what they have come to believe. And thus, for those brethren, I will not always quote every verse of Scripture in this study. And thus, it is your job to search the Scriptures for yourself and read every verse of Scripture in its context that I give as the TRUTH of the Gospel to see if what you have previously learned is the TRUTH from the Holy Spirit or whether it is a doctrine of devils that has deceived you to FALL from GRACE, according to Galatians 5:1-15. And thus, by trying to keep the Law of Moses, your faith in Jesus Christ for righteousness profits you no more. Also, keep in mind that all of the 99 reasons for why Christians MUST cease from keeping the law of commandments contained in ORDINANCES fall under REASON #1. So in truth, the other 99 reasons EXPLAIN the TRUE SOUND BIBLICAL meaning of reason #1 found in Matthew 5:17-20. The emphasis in the Scriptures and comments in parenthesis within the Scriptures are mine. Matthew 5:17-20. “Think NOT that I am come to DESTROY the law, or the prophets: I am NOT come to DESTROY, but (Rather, I have come to FULFILL. (Jesus was manifest for the purpose of FULFILLING both the LAW and the prophets) 18. For verily (Or TRULY) I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be FULFILLED. 19. Whosoever, therefore, shall break one of THESE least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. ( What are the “THESE” least commandments? The word “THESE” is an adjective that modifies the word “LEAST” commandments. In other words, Jesus is referring to the commandments that Almighty God the Father Himself PUT in his mouth to teach us as Christians to OBEY under the NEW COVENANT written in the New Testament. The Greek word translated as “LEAST” means LESS commandments. In other words, the commandments found under the NEW COVENANT written in the New Testament are LESS or FEWER commandments that are found in the Old Covenant written in the Old Testament. And if any Christian BREAKS any of the “LEAST” commandments under the NEW COVENANT written in the NEW Testament, then they will be called least in the kingdom of God. AND Jesus warns the BREAKERS of any of the “LEAST” commandments, then possibly, if they do not REPENT, they will NOT be allowed to ENTER the kingdom of heaven at the coming of Jesus, according to the context in verse 20) 20. For I say unto you, That except your RIGHTEOUSNESS shall EXCEED the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall in no case ENTER into the kingdom of heaven.” So then, it is vitally important to be absolutely sure we are OBEYING the LEAST commandments of THESE or those commandments that Jesus gave to us under the New Covenant, which are just TWO commandments. In other words, by CEASING from the works of the LAW that Jesus FULFILLED so that our RIGHTEOUSNESS is guaranteed to exceed the righteousness of those born under the Law of Moses written in ordinances under the Old Covenant to obey ONLY the TWO least of less commandments of Jesus, then we ARE the very RIGHTEOUSNESS of God. We are Holy even as the Father in heaven is Holy. But if any Christian wrongly teaches others to BREAK the “LEAST” commandments, then then are in danger of NOT being allowed to ENTER the kingdom of heaven. So again, it is VITAL that you understand the true SOUND Biblical meaning of the word “LEAST” commandments in this passage of Scripture, because if you interpret the words of Jesus INCORRECTLY, then you are not believing and teaching the TRUTH of the TRUE gospel of Jesus Christ. And without steadfast FAITH in the TRUTH of the gospel you will NOT enter the kingdom of heaven. Those are the words of Jesus, not mine. Here are two definitions from E-Sword of the Greek word translated in the KIV as “LEAST”. I like to give the actual word along with the root word so that you can see the FULL meaning of the word in the original Greek text. G1646 elachistos el-akh'-is-tos The superlative of ἔλαχυς elachus (short); used as equivalent to G3398; least (in size, amount, dignity, etc.): - least, very little (small), smallest. G3398 mikros mikroteros mik-ros', mik-rot'-er-os Apparently a primary word, including the comparative (second form); small (in size, quantity, number or (figuratively) dignity): - least, less, little, small. I emphasized the word “dignity” because sometimes we THINK we know what a word means but when we look it up we find that it means far more that what we THOUGHT it meant. Here is the meaning of the word dignity. It means the state or quality of being WORTHY of honor or respect. It also means RIGHTEOUSNESS. And all of the meanings of the Greek word translated as “LEAST” commandments AGREE with Jesus giving of LESS or FEWER commandments to be found WORTHY or RIGHTEOUS before Almighty God the Father and His Son Jesus. The TWO commandments of Jesus are far LESS than the some 613 commandments contained in ORDINANCES written by the hand of Moses under the OLD Covenant. In the context of the “THESE least” commandments, Jesus said, you have HEARD it said. And then Jesus refers to one of commandments in the Law of Moses. Then Jesus says, BUT I say unto you… So you can see very clearly that Jesus made some CHANGES from what the Jews were taught under the Old Covenant to what we are NOW to believe and obey under the NEW COVENANT. For you see, the Old Covenant was given ONLY to the children of Israel for THEM to keep throughout THEIR generations as a SCHOOLMASTER or as a SIGN to lead them to God’s New PERPETUAL COVENANT which is Jesus, according to Exodus 31:16-18 and Isaiah 42:6-9. To say this another way, God PROPHESIED in Isaiah 42:6-9 to GIVE His Messiah as the COVENANT for the people and for a light to the Gentiles. Let us go ahead and read Isaiah 42:6-9 in the next reason because it is foundational verse of Scripture found in reason #2 for why Christians must OBEY the THESE LEAST commandments which are the TWO commandments of Jesus under the New Covenant and CEASE from keeping the LAW that Jesus FULFILLED in order to give us LEAST commandments. You can also read the study called Dd-23. What does MATTHEW 5:17,18 TRULY Mean? But for now, let us continue with reason number two. Reason #2. WHY Christians MUST obey ONLY the New Covenant and CEASE from KEEPING any and all works of the LAW contained in ORDINANCES that Jesus ABOLISHED on the cross? And reason #2 is that God gave us His NEW COVENANT to OBEY only the LEAST commandments of Jesus which are just TWO commandments, according to Matthew 22:36-40. But for now, let us read Isaiah 42:6-9 so you can see that the FORMER things have been REPLACED with the NEW things God is doing under His New Covenant. Isaiah 42:6-9. “I the LORD have called YOU (Jesus) in righteousness, and will hold YOUR hand, (Jesus) and will keep YOU, (Jesus) and give YOU (Jesus) FOR a COVENANT of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; 7. To OPEN the blind eyes, (And Paul teaches us in 2 Corinthians 4:3,4 that the gospel is HID to those who are lost because Satan has BLINDED their eyes. But Jesus came to OPEN the eyes who do not yet see the TRUTH of the TRUE gospel of Jesus Christ) to bring OUT the prisoners from the prison, and (This NEW Covenant of My Son Jesus as being My NEW Covenant will bring) them that sit in darkness OUT of the prison house. (And the New Testament clearly teaches us that the Law of Moses is a YOKE of BONGDAGE. But Jesus said to take his yoke which is EASY and LIGHT. And the TWO commandments of Jesus are NOT burdensome. But according to Acts 15:10, NONE of the fathers of the children of Israel or even the Apostles of Jesus were ABLE to BEAR the Law of Moses. And Peter warns the Christians that teach others to KEEP the Law of Moses that they are TEMPTING Almighty God Himself) 8. I am the LORD: that (Speaking of Yahweh’s Messiah Jesus which I gave as my NEW Covenant) is My NAME: and My GLORY will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. (Please read the study called Dd-19. What does the LORD'S NAME in VAIN mean? God prophesied here to GIVE His glory to no other THAN His ELECT, And Jesus along with us who believe and obey the TRUTH of the TRUTH gospel are the ELECT. And the only way for God’s chosen people under the Old Covenant to enter into REST is to BELIEVE and obey God’s NEW COVENANT which is FAITH in Jesus as being the Christ, the Son of the Living God. Read the CONTEXT) 9. Behold, the FORMER things are coming to pass, and NEW THINGS do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.” In other words, God PROPHESIED His Son Jesus to BE God’s NEW PERPETUAL COVENANT to bring people OUT of darkness of the PRISON house that has BOUND the children of Israel and the Gentiles that are LOST and BLINDED by Satan, the false god of this present world, according to 2 Corinthians 4:1-6. Again, your job is to always read the CONTEXT which in this case is the TRUTH of the TRUE Gospel of Jesus Christ that is the LIGHT that brings us OUT of the darkness of FORMER things that God brought to and END to those of us who OBEY God’s NEW PERPETUAL COVENANT by our obedience to CEASE the keeping of those FORMER things contained in ORDINANCES in the Law of Moses. For you see, according to Hebrews 8;13, Almighty God Himself made His first covenant with the children of Israel OLD. And that Old Covenant completely vanished away in 70 AD when the Jewish Temple was destroyed. And NOW, under the New Covenant, Jesus is the TEMPLE of Almighty God, according to the prophecy in Malachi 3:1 which you can read on your own. Now, I will also give you a link to at least one of the more in-depth studies that I have written of each of the 99 reasons for why Christians MUST NOT keep what Jesus ABOLISHED on the cross. Reason #3. WHY Christians MUST obey ONLY the New Covenant and CEASE from KEEPING any and all works of the LAW contained in ORDINANCES that Jesus ABOLISHED on the cross? And reason #3 is that God does NOT CHANGE what He PROPHESIED He will do according to Malachi 3:1-18. Please keep the CONTEXT in verse 1 as the SUBJECT of Jesus as being prophesied to become God’s NEW TEMPLE as you read verses 2-18. Otherwise, you might “twist” the true God intended meaning of verse 1 to incorrectly mean that God supposedly is “restoring” the Old Covenant. For you see, all seventh DAY of the WEEK Sabbath-keeping Christians quote the words, God does not CHANGE out of its CONTEXT to try to prove that the Old Covenant is still BINDING on Christian to obey to the LETTER of the law. But in TRUTH, the reason that God does NOT CHANGE His mind is because God PROPHESIED His whole plan of salvation from the BEGINNING and Jesus is the FULFILLMENT of God’s spoken word of PROPHECY. And, as you have already read in Isaiah 42:6-9, God gave us Jesus as the NEW PERPETUAL COVENANT to obey. For you see, in Exodus 31:16 there is a PROPHECY that the keeping of the WEEKLY Sabbath DAY was a SIGN for a PERPETUAL COVENANT and NOT for an eternal COMMANDMENT of keep a DAY of the WEEK Holy. Can you not understand that Almighty God Himself MADE the first covenant OLD at the cross and the FORMER things written in ORDINANCES contained in the commandments of the first covenant are no longer accepted by God? And in 70 AD when the Jewish Temple was destroyed as prophesied, then even the old way of animal sacrifices has vanished and has been completely done away with for all eternity. But in God’s eye every ordinance was blotted out and taken out of the way at the cross by Jesus FULFILLING all of those ORDINANCES in order to take them out of the WAY of God’s GIFT of RIGHTEOUSNESS through His Son Jesus. And NOW, Jesus is the ONLY WAY to the Father. Jesus is the END of the law for righteousness. This brings us to reason number four for why Christians should NOT keep ANY DAY of the week as a day of obligation lest they sin or displease God. Reason #4. WHY Christians MUST obey ONLY the New Covenant and CEASE from KEEPING any and all works of the LAW contained in ORDINANCES that Jesus ABOLISHED on the cross? And reason #4 is that the law contained in ORDINANCES have been FULFILLED by Jesus who is the TRUE meaning for why those ordinances were given to the children of Israel in the first place as SHADOWS pointing to Jesus. And by FAITH in Jesus as God’s Messiah prophesied to come were ARE keeping all of the law that Almighty God REQUIRES us to keep under the New Covenant written in the New Testament. For example, we ARE keeping the law of sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins by our FAITH in Jesus. who fulfilled those ORDINANCES as the TRUE Lamb who was sacrificed for our sins. And thus, all of the yearly feast DAYS, the monthly new moon festival DAYS, and all of the WEEKLY Sabbath DAYS were SHADOWS pointing to Jesus as the TRUE meaning for WHY the God gave the Law of Moses and the TEN Commandments to the children of Israel in the first place. Now, since I already have several IN-DEPTH studies on reason #4, I will just give you the links to those studies for you to read either now or later. I implore you to read all of the studies listed above, here in reason #4, and that I will list below after every reason in every part of this series of studies, which I am going to try to keep as short as possible. I know that it is a lot of reading, but if you TRULY want to receive ETERNAL LIFE in the world to come, then you MUST believe and obey the TRUTH of the TRUE gospel of Jesus Christ under the NEW COVENANT written in the New Testament. And if you believe and obey what has been INCORRECTLY interpreted from the Scriptures that CONTRADICT what Jesus taught his disciples and his Apostles under the NEW COVENANT written in the New Testament, then you are in danger of losing the promise of receiving eternal life in the world to come. In other words, you know full well that it would be a SIN if you have FAITH in Jesus as the ONE sacrifice for sin AND you also kept the OLD Covenant as well to offer animal sacrifices for the forgiveness of your sins. You would be showing that you do NOT TRULY trust God's NEW Covenant. And you would be MAKING a LIE by saying you LOVE Jesus and you do not trust him enough to keep his LEAST or LESS commandments, which are just TWO commandments that fulfill ALL the law of God/ So again, make absolutely that what I am teaching you AGREES with every verse of Scripture written in the New Testament concerning the LAW of LIBERTY. For you see that is the LAW that we will be JUDGED by, according to James 2:5-14, which I will cover in reason number five. Reason #5. WHY Christians MUST obey ONLY the New Covenant and CEASE from KEEPING any and all works of the LAW contained in ORDINANCES that Jesus ABOLISHED on the cross? And reason #5 is that we, as Christians will be JUDGED by the LAW of LIBERTY, according to James 2:5-14. Let us go ahead and read that passage of Scripture in James 2:5-14 that I mentioned in reason #4 above, because almost all seventh DAY of the WEEK Sabbath-keeping Christian incorrectly INTERPRET this passage of Scripture to try to prove that Christians MUST keep the Law of Moses and the TEN Commandments in the OLDNESS of the LETTER of the law lest their faith in Jesus is dead. But the WORKS James is talking about are NOT the works of the LAW contained in ORDINANCES that Jesus ABOLISHED on the cross, according to Ephesians 2:8-15 and Colossians 2:13-17,20-22. Pay close attention to my comments explaining the true meaning of what James is actually teaching us. Notice that James is talking to TWO different groups of people. And those two groups of people are the Judaizing Christians highlighted in green and the Christians obey the TRUTH of the TRUE gospel of Jesus Christ highlighted in yellow and in light blue. James 2:5-20. “HEARKEN, (Or pay close attention to what I am teaching you) my beloved brethren, Has not God chosen the poor of this world rich in FAITH, and HEIRS of the kingdom which He has promised to them that LOVE Him? 6. But YOU have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats? (This is speaking of a third group of people, the unsaved Jews, who were judging the Judaizing Christians to SUBVERT them back to keeping the OLDNESS of the LETTER of the Law of Moses. And then they came to DESPISE the Christians who are obeying the TRUTH of the gospel) 7. Do not they blaspheme that worthy NAME by which YOU are called? 8. If YOU fulfill the ROYAL LAW according to the Scripture, You shall LOVE your neighbor as yourself, YOU do well: 9. But if YOU have respect to persons, YOU commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. 10. For whosoever (Of YOU, the understood subject of WHO James is specifically speaking to directly which is the Judaizing Christians) shall keep the WHOLE law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. 11. For He that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if you commit no adultery, yet if you kill, you become a transgressor of the law. (This is just an example that James uses to show that it is a SIN to break any of the MORAL laws. And thus, IF the Judaizing Christians continue to teach that Christians must keep all the Law of Moses as the Jews, then if they break even ONE Law of Moses they transgress the WHOLE Law of Moses) 12. So speak YOU, and so do, as THEY that shall be JUDGED by the LAW of LIBERTY. (In other words, QUIT subverting and compelling Christians to keep the LAW of Moses in the OLDNESS of the LETTER and remain steadfast in the TRUTH of the gospel to WALK in LOVE to FULFILL the ROYAL LAW of LIBERTY. For you see, it will be by the LAW of LIBERTY that God will JUDGE us by, at the coming of Jesus. And on the final Day of Judgment every human being ever born will be judged by the LAW of LIBERTY. So then, those of you who are seventh DAY of the WEEK Sabbath-keeping Christians, be you as THEY who obey the TRUTH of the TRUE gospel who will be judged by the LAW of LIBERTY. But IF you continue to try to keep the Law of Moses in contained in ORDINANCES in the OLDNESS of the LETTER and teach others to BREAK the “THESE LEAST” commandments of Jesus that we already talked about under reason #1, then you will NOT enter the kingdom of heaven. And if you break even ONE point YOU shall have judgment WITHOUT mercy) 13. For he shall have judgment without mercy, that has shown no mercy; and mercy rejoices against judgment. 14. What does it profit, my brethren, though a man says he has faith, and has not works? Can faith save him? (Notice that the WORKS that we are to have are ALL in the ROYAL LAW of LIBERTY to LOVE one another even as we love ourselves. These LEAST commandments that are FULFILLED under the ROYAL LAW are clearly taught all through the New Testament. But the Judaizing Christians were subverted by the unsaved Jews to be DEPART from God’s NEW COVENANT to be brought back under the YOKE of BONDAGE under the Old Covenant) 15. If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, (Can you not see that James is talking about the WORKS of walking in LOVE and NOT the works of keeping the Law of Moses? So stop twisting the Scriptures to your OWN DESTRUCTION as Peter warns you in 2 Peter 3:16-18 by your trying to force the teachings of Paul to mean that James, Peter, and Paul are teaching us to KEEP the Law of Moses under the Old Covenant to SHOW our faith in Jesus. Clearly, the WORKS here in this passage of Scripture are the works of LOVE toward one another to do GOOD works that God ORDAINED us to walk in, according to Ephesians 2:8-15 and NOT the works of the LAW contained in ORDINANCES) 16. And one of you says unto them, Depart in peace, be you warmed and filled; notwithstanding you give them not those things which are needful to the body; what does it profit? 17. Even so faith, if it does not have works it is dead, being alone. (So then, James is CORRECTING their works of the law by teaching them the works that Almighty God requires of us under the NEW PERPETUAL COVENANT or the New Covenant, which is FAITH in Jesus. So the LAW that Christians must obey is called the LAW of FAITH, the LAW of LIBERTY, the ROYAL LAW, which are the TWO LEAST commandments of Jesus under the New Covenant. In other words, there is no other law against the law of LIBERTY. For you see, walking in LOVE is the FRUIT of the Holy Spirit who dwells in us. And thus, we FULFILL all of the law of God by FAITH in Jesus and our obedience to walk in LOVE toward one another. And his commandments under the New Covenant are NOT GRIEVOUS. But the Law of Moses under the Old Covenant is a BURDENSOME YOKE, according to Acts 15:10. And thus, all seventh DAY of the WEEK Sabbath-keeping Christians are TEMPTING God. which we will cover under reason #6 shortly) 18, Yea, a man may say, You have faith, and I have works: (Again, James is saying to the man who says he KEEP the Law of Moses and the WEEKLY Sabbath DAY but you other Christians only have FAITH. Then James answers the Judaizing Christians saying) show me YOUR faith without YOUR works, (Speaking of the works of the law contained in ORDINANCES that you are subverting Christians to keep) and I will show YOU my faith by my works. (James is clearly talking about TWO different kinds of WORKS, the works of the Judaizing Christians and the works of fulfilling the ROYAL LAW of LIBERTY, the LEAST commandments of Jesus in Matthew 5:17-20) 19. You believe that there is one God; YOU do well: the devils also believe, and tremble. (In other words, just believing in the one true God is not enough to get you into the kingdom of heaven and receive eternal life in the world to come, because even Satan and the devils know that there is a DAY of Judgment coming from God and the TREMBLE in fear) 20. But will you know, O vain man, that FAITH without works is dead?” But WHAT works is James TRULY speaking of in this passage of Scripture. If you INCORRECTLY interpret the God INTENDED meaning of the words of James, then you will be judged WITHOUT MERCY. So be sure to COMPARE Scripture with Scripture by looking up the word VAIN in these passages of Scripture concerning WORKING or laboring in VAIN. Please read on your own the following verses of Scripture: Mark 7:6-13, 1 Corinthians 15:1,2, Galatians 2:1-21, Galatians 3:1-29, Galatians 4:1-31, Galatians 5:1-26, Philippians 2:12-16, Colossians 2:3-23, 1 Thessalonians 2:1-16, 1 Timothy 1:3-11, 1 Timothy 4:1-6, and Titus 1:9-11. Reason #6. WHY Christians MUST obey ONLY the New Covenant and CEASE from KEEPING any and all works of the LAW contained in ORDINANCES that Jesus ABOLISHED on the cross? And reason #6 is that all seventh DAY of the WEEK Sabbath-keeping Christians are TEMPTING Almighty God by placing a YOKE of BONDAGE on other Christians with their false doctrine, according to Acts 15:10. Please read Acts 15:10. “And when there had been much DISPUTING, (Over whether or not to be circumcised and KEEP the Law of Moses to be saved) Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe. 8. And God, which knows the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; 9. And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by FAITH. 10. Now, THEREFORE, (Or for this very reason that Almighty God Himself who made the CHOICE to save the Gentile by FAITH, then) why TEMPT YOU God, to put a YOKE upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to BEAR? 11. But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they. 12. Then all the multitude kept silent, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them. (Or the much disputing ended over whether of not Christians must keep the Law of Moses ENDED and the Judaizing Christians listened to Paul and Barnabas) 13. And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me: 14. Simeon has declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name. 15. And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written, 16. After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up: 17. That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, says the Lord, who does all these things. 18. Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world. 19. Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God: 20. But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood. (Now SOME seventh DAY of the WEEK Sabbath-keeping Christians will “interpret” this verse to mean that there are TWO gospels, one gospel of the Jewish Christians and another gospel for the Gentile Christians, but they are in ERROR in their interpreting the Scripture. For you see, the Apostle James goes on to say in verse 24 that the church gave no such COMMANDMENT to keep the Law of Moses. So then, the sound Biblical meaning of verse 20 as to WHY it seemed good to James to put just these FOUR things on the Gentiles for their SAFETY in verse 26 lest the unsaved Jews would kill them for teaching against keeping the Law of Moses when they go to the Jews to preach the TRUTH of the gospel of Jesus Christ, according to Ephesians 2:8-15 and Colossians 2:13-17,20-22. Notice in the very next verse the concern of James for the SAFETY of the Gentile Christian when they go to preach the gospel to the unsaved Jews) 21. For Moses of old time has in every city them that preach of him, (Speaking of the unsaved Jews teaching about the Law of Moses) being read in the synagogues every Sabbath day. 22. Then pleased it the apostles and elders, with the WHOLE church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas, and Silas, chief men among the brethren: 23. And they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia: …24. Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, You must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:” Notice that neither James nor any of the Apostles of Jesus even so much as mentioned the keeping of the weekly Sabbath day for ANY reason. And every Christians knows full well that the FOURTH commandment is one of the TEN Commandments that are written in the Law of Moses. So why do the seventh DAY of the WEEK Sabbath DAY keeping Christians TEMPT Almighty God Himself by troubling other Christians to KEEP the Law of Moses when the WHOLE church came into agreement being lead by the Holy Spirit to give no such commandment the KEEP the Law of Moses? It is because Satan, the god of this present world has BLINDED their eyes to the TRUTH of the TRUE gospel, according to 2 Corinthians 4:3,4. And Paul says that they are LOST which we will cover in reason number seven. Reason #7. WHY Christians MUST obey ONLY the New Covenant and CEASE from KEEPING any and all works of the LAW contained in ORDINANCES that Jesus ABOLISHED on the cross? And reason #7 is that the weekly Sabbath DAY of rest was a SHADOW pointing to Jesus and the New Covenant, according to Colossians 2:3-23. Since I already have an in depth study on this reason I will give you as link to that study for you to read later. Please read the study called Dd-3. What COLOSSIANS 2:14-17 TRULY MEAN? But for now, let us continue with reason number eight. Reason #8. WHY Christians MUST obey ONLY the New Covenant and CEASE from KEEPING any and all works of the LAW contained in ORDINANCES that Jesus ABOLISHED on the cross? And reason #8 is because the seventh DAY of the WEEK Sabbath-keeping Christians are LOST, according to 2 Corinthians 4:1-4. Please read 2 Corinthians 4:1-4. “Therefore, seeing we have THIS ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; 2. But have RENOUNCED the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the TRUTH commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. 3. But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are LOST: 4. In whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of them which believe not, (The TRUTH of the TRUE gospel of salvation) lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” So then, ALL people whether they SAY they have FAITH in Jesus or whether they deny Jesus altogether, if they do not BELIEVE and obey the TRUTH of the TRUE gospel of Jesus Christ, then they are LOST. This does not mean that they are permanently lost and can never repent of not obeying the TRUTH of the gospel. But rather, it means that all seventh DAY of the WEEK Sabbath DAY keeping Christians are WEAK in their FAITH in the New Covenant, according to Romans chapter 14. For you see, Paul teaches us in Romans 14:1-14, the entire book of Galatians, 1 Timothy 4:1-6, 1 Corinthians 8:1-13, and many other verses that I already listed in reason number 4, clearly teach us that the KEEPING of DAYS to please God for fear of sinning is being WEAK in FAITH in God’s New Covenant. And thus, we are to speak the TRUTH in LOVE and TRUST in God that He is able to make them stand. Again, I already have several studies on the subject of the seventh DAY of the WEEK Sabbath keeping, which is part of the Law of Moses, as being a SIN, and those Christians teaching others to keep the OLDNESS of the LETTER of the law as being HERETICS. This brings us to reason number nine, which is that it is DISPLEASING to God to keep what God Himself CHOSE to ABOLISH through His Son of the cross. Reason #9. WHY Christians MUST obey ONLY the New Covenant and CEASE from KEEPING any and all works of the LAW contained in ORDINANCES that Jesus ABOLISHED on the cross? And reason #9 is that it DISPLEASES Almighty God and His Son, Jesus to keep what Jesus FULFILLED and thus ABOLISHED on the cross, according to Ephesians 2:8-15 and Colossians 2:3-23. But Satan has blinded the eyes of seventh DAY of the WEEK Sabbath-keeping Christians by deceiving them into THINKING that they are PLEASING God by keeping the Law of Moses to SHOW their FAITH in Jesus. This is what Paul calls “handling the word of God DECEITFULLY” in 2 Corinthians 4:2-4. And I also renounce as Paul teaches us to NOT pervert the TRUTH of the gospel using VAIN jangling desiring to be teachers of the LAW of Moses, according to 1 Timothy 1:5-7. Now, the seventh day of the week Sabbath-keeping Christians use the word of God DECEITFULLY but most of them do it in IGNORANCE by simply “parroting” or repeating what other Sabbath-keeping Christians have taught to them. In other words, they take verses of Scriptures OUT of their CONTEXT and then they use the Sabbath-keeping INTERPRETATION that they were taught to try to teach other Christians their faith in SABBATH KEEPING. So their FAITH is not TRULY in Jesus and the TRUTH of the GOSPEL of salvation. But rather, their faith is in obeying what their own church denomination of Sabbath-keeping has taught them to obey, which is to KEEP the Law of Moses to me more PLEASING to God. But, in TRUTH, it is actually DISPLEASE to God and His Son, Jesus to try to KEEP that which Jesus ABOLISHED on the cross, according to Ephesians 2:8-15 and Colossians 2:3-23. This brings us to reason number ten which is the last reason that I will cover in part 1 of this series of studies on WHY Christians MUST obey ONLY the New Covenant and CEASE from KEEPING any and all works of the LAW contained in ORDINANCES that Jesus ABOLISHED on the cross. To me, reason #10 should be the HEART of every Christian to LOVE Jesus and OBEY HIS commandments under the NEW Covenant written in the New Testament, which we learned in this study as being the “THESE LEAST” commandments in Matthew 5:17-20 in reason number #1. Reason #10. WHY Christians MUST obey ONLY the New Covenant and CEASE from KEEPING any and all works of the LAW contained in ORDINANCES that Jesus ABOLISHED on the cross> And reason #10 is that if we TRULY LOVE Jesus then we will KEEP HIS commandments under the New Covenant written in the New Testament, according to John 14:15-23. And as you have already learned in reason #1 in this series of studies, Jesus gave us LEAST commandments by giving us only TWO commandments. And if any Christian teaches anyone to BREAK THESE two LEAST commandments and they do NOT repent from handling the word of God deceitfully by using their own personal INCORRECT interpretations of the Scriptures, then they will NOT enter into the kingdom of heaven. Let us go ahead and read some more CONTEXT of Matthew 5:17-20 by reading the verses of Scripture that come before verse 17. And as you read these verses, please notice the WORKS that Jesus teaches us about that are WORTHY of receiving eternal life in the world to come. And also notice that the one doing the KIND of WORKS that Jesus teaches us under the New Covenant will be PERSECUTED for doing them. I will highlight the WORKS of Jesus under the New Covenant in yellow and light blue so that you can see them easier. Please read Matthew 5:1-16. “And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: 2. And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying, 3. Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. 5. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. 6. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. 7. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. 8. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. 9. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. 10. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11. Blessed are you, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you FALSELY, for my sake. 12. Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so they persecuted the prophets which were before you. 13. You are the salt of the earth: but if the salt has lost his savor, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. 14. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it gives light unto all that are in the house. 16. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven… …19. Whosoever, THEREFORE, shall break one of THESE LEAST commandments, (That Jesus just taught us that those who keep those GOOD WORKS with see God and a whole lot more BLESSINGS now in this present world and ETERNAL LIFE in the world to come) and shall teach men to do so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: (Or they shall be called WEAK in the FAITH in Jesus and the NEW COVENANT, according to the Apostle Paul in Romans 14:1,2) but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20. For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.” And FAITH in Jesus to obey THESE LEAST commandments of Jesus under the NEW COVENANT written in the New Testament and SUMMED up unjust TWO commandments is the END of the LAW for RIGHTEOUSNESS, according to Romans 10:4.
