Chapter 7.
Church TRADITION says that God RESTORED the GLORY that His Son had BEFORE the foundation of the world. And Orthodox Christianity says that the Son of God ascended BACK up into heaven where he was BEFORE in the eternity past? But what does the Bible ITSELF teach us? In other words, did God RESTORE the Son of MAN back to being God the SON and Jesus is NO LONGER the highly exalted glorified Son of MAN? What does John 6:62 and John 17:5 TRULY mean in the LIGHT of the WHOLE word of Almighty God? Church TRADITION interprets John 6:62 to mean that Jesus ascended BACK up into HEAVEN where he pre-existed BEFORE in all eternity past as God the Son, the second person of the Godhead Trinity God. In other words, church tradition uses John 6:62 to try and prove that the Son of God RETURNED to heaven to sit on the throne that he had ALWAYS sat upon in the eternity past as God the Son, the second person of a Godhead Trinity God. And church tradition uses John 17:5 to teach the same thing. But again, what does the Bible ITSELF teach us? Let us go ahead and read John 6:62 out of its CONTEXT first, because that is the way church tradition quotes verses of Scripture to try and prove that Jesus is Almighty God Himself in the flesh.
John 6:62.
“What and if you shall see the Son of man ascend up where he WAS BEFORE?”
As I have said many times, any verse when viewed ALONE and apart from the rest of God’s word may SEEM to be saying something that it is NOT TRULY saying when it is LEFT in its CONTEXT. In the context of John 6:51-58, Jesus is talking about giving his FLESH for the LIFE of the world. And whosoever EATS his FLESH and DRINKS his BLOOD will have eternal life. But whosoever will NOT eat his flesh and drink his blood has NO life. And after he spoke those words, many who followed Jesus left off following him. You can read the whole context of John 6:26-58 on your own. But the MEAT or the heart of the context is Jesus giving his LIFE so that he can RAISE the DEAD and give eternal life to whosoever BELIEVES in him. The verses in John 6:39,44,49, and 54 CLEARLY speak of the RESURRECTION. And the Greek word that is TRANSLATED as “ascend up” means to ARISE or RISE UP from the dead. In other words, Jesus is simply saying to his eye witnesses, what if you WITNESS the Son of MAN being RAISED UP from the dead to where the Son of MAN was before he was crucified. This verse in John 6:62 does NOT teach that the Son of MAN pre-existed up in heaven in all eternity past. For you see, MAN is a MORTAL being. And if Jesus INTENDED his words to mean that he pre-existed as the ETERNAL Son of God who came down from heaven, then surely he would have said, what if you see the Son of God ascend back up into heaven where he was before. But there is no mention of HEAVEN in John 6:62 and Jesus specifically referred to himself as the Son of MAN and NOT the Son of GOD. Also, the CONTEXT in the very NEXT after verse 62 is speaking of the Spirit QUICKENING or giving LIFE to that which is DEAD. Let us read the immediate or close context right before and right after verse 62, “what and if you shall see the Son of MAN ascend up where he was before?”

“Therefore, many of his disciples, when they heard this, said, This is a hard saying; who can hear it? (The “saying” that is being referred to is that if one does NOT eat his flesh and drink his blood, then they will have NO eternal life) 61. When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, (Or they murmured at Jesus saying they must eat his flesh and drink his blood) he said unto them, Does this (That I said) offend you? 62. What and if you shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? (Or more correctly, What if you see the Son of MAN RISE AGAIN where he was before after he gives his LIFE for the world?) 63. It is the Spirit that QUICKENS; (Or it is the Eternal Holy Spirit who MAKES ALIVE or gives LIFE) the flesh profits nothing: the WORDS that I speak unto you, they are SPIRIT, and they are LIFE. 64. But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him. (Jesus knew from the PROPHECIES in the Scriptures that ONE of his disciples would not believe and betray him. Jesus also knew from the prophecies that SOME of Israel is NOT truly of Israel, the seed of PROMISE. Jesus did not have to be Almighty God Himself in the flesh to know that the things PROPHESIED in the Scripture would come to pass) 65. And he said, Therefore, said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. (In other words, the FATHER prophesied in the Scriptures who would NOT believe) 66. From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. 67. Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will you also go away? (Remember that Judas Iscariot was being asked this same question as well) 68. Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the WORDS of eternal life. 69. And WE believe and are SURE that you are that Christ, the Son of the living God.”
The Greek word translated as “Christ” means ANOINTED and MESSIAH. So then, eleven of the twelve disciples believed and were SURE that the Son of MAN, Jesus, was the Messiah, the Son of the living God. And at that time in the ministry of Jesus, he had not told any of his disciples that he was the Messiah. The only one that Jesus told that he was the Christ or the Messiah was the woman at the well. And his disciples were not with him. According to Matthew 16:16-18, it was Almighty God the Father who revealed to Simon Peter that Jesus was the Messiah who was PROPHESIED to come. And when we look at the PROPHECIES of the Messiah in the Old Testament Scripture, there is NOT ONE prophecy of a so-called God the Son, or even the Son of God, or any Son coming down from heaven to be made flesh. But we DO see Yahweh PERFORMING His WORD that He has SPOKEN in Isaiah 9:6,7. We see in that prophecy a CHILD being BORN first and then a Son is GIVEN. In other words, the PROPHECIES teach us that a HUMAN Son of God would be GIVEN. A HUMAN Son of God would be ANOINTED. We see in Isaiah 55:9-11 the PROPHECY of the WORD that came forth out of the MOUTH of Yahweh who said IT shall not RETURN unto him void. But IT, speaking of the spoken word of prophecy made FLESH, IT shall accomplish the task that IT was SENT to do. And thus, the word in John 1:1 is the SPOKEN word of PROPHECY that was TOWARD joining God on His throne. In other words, Almighty God prophesied of a God being formed under and subject to the Almighty God the Father to JOIN Yahweh the Father on His throne. Compare the spoken word of Yahweh coming DOWN from heaven like rain and SNOW to the MANNA as being BREAD for the children of Israel to literally eat as physical food. Then compare all of that to what Jesus taught in John 6:26-69 as him being the TRUE MANNA or the TRUE BREAD that came down from heaven for SPIRITUAL food of God’s WORDS that bring eternal life. Yahweh SPOKE His WORD in great DETAIL concerning where His Messiah would be BORN, to his crying out from Hell to be saved, to having the rule over the earth during the FIRST DOMINION, and then Yahweh ruling from henceforth. And yet there is not one hint or even a single implication that would imply that a divine being named the Word would come down from heaven and incarnate himself to become flesh and REMAIN the divine Almighty God having TWO natures at the SAME TIME, one divine and one human. But yet, that is what church TRADITION dogmatically demands that we MUST believe or we will remain dead in our sins. And some Christians live in FEAR that if they even think to QUESTION the man-made doctrine of the Trinity, then they can NOT be saved. But I assure you that the doctrine of the Trinity is a MAN-MADE THEORY that took over four hundred years to be FORCED upon Christians. Take a moment and THINK about the title of this chapter, Did God RESTORE the GLORY to His Son? Church tradition interprets John 17:5 to mean that Jesus is asking the Father to RETURN the SAME GLORY that he always had with the Father in the eternity past. Now think about a so-called FULLY Almighty God the Son who is EQUAL in every way with the Father laying down his so-called former glory and POWER to take on the form of a SERVANT to be under and subject to the Father. And now Jesus is asking the Father to give him the glory which he HAD BEFORE the world was. Now, IF that “interpretation” is the truth, then what ACTUALLY happened in the Bible ITSELF would AGREE perfectly with that INTERPRETATION. In other words, the so-called God the SON who was RESTORED to the SAME GLORY would ascend back up into heaven to RETURN to be EQUAL with the Father where neither are greater than nor less than the other like church TRADITION wrongly teaches in their doctrine of the Trinity. But that is NOT what the Bible ITSELF says happened. According to John 20:17-20, it was the Son of MAN who ascended into heaven to his God on the very day God raised him from the dead. Then the Son of MAN descended back down to the earth that very same day in the evening to SHOW himself alive for forty days by many infallible proofs, according to Acts 1:3. Then the Son of MAN ascended back up into heaven where he was before just forty DAYS before. But the second time that the Son of MAN ascended into heaven was to sit on his God and FATHER’S throne. Then the Son of MAN will return to rule and reign FOR Yahweh in the NAME OF Yahweh for ONLY 1000 years and ONLY over the earth. And then, after the 1000 year reign of Jesus comes to an END, Jesus will commit the ruling over the earth BACK into the hands of his God and Father. Now, to ME, that does NOT sound like God RESTORING the same glory that a so-called God the Son always had in the eternity past. But rather, it sounds like God HIGHLY EXALTED His HUMAN Son to BECOME a God to rule over ONLY the earth for ONLY 1000 years for the PURPOSE of JUDGING Satan and the fallen angels by his reign of PEACE having no WARS for 1000 years. But yet, church TRADITION uses John 17:5 to try to prove that Jesus pre-existed as God the Son, the second person of a Trinity Godhead in the eternity past. And Trinitarian Christians INTERPRET the words of Jesus as praying to the Father to glorify him with the SAME GLORY that he had in the eternity past BEFORE the foundation of the world. Now, before we get into the mistranslation of John 17:5, please consider the following. IF Jesus INTENDED his words to mean, Father, give me BACK the glory that I used to have in the eternity past with you, then why would Jesus say in the very SAME CONTEXT that the SAME GLORY that God GAVE to him, Jesus GAVE to us. And obviously, the SAME glory that Jesus received from his God and GAVE to us, was given to us as a promise to be received at his coming again?
Please read John 17:20-24.
“Neither pray I for these alone, but for them ALSO which shall believe on me through their word; 21. That they ALL may be ONE; AS You, Father, are in me, and I in You, that they ALSO may be ONE in us: that the world may believe that You have sent me. 22. And the GLORY which You GAVE me I have GIVEN THEM; that THEY may be ONE, EVEN AS WE are ONE: 23. I in them, and You in me, that they may be made perfect in ONE; and that the world may know that You have sent me, and have loved THEM, AS You have loved me. 24. Father, I will that they ALSO, whom You have given to me, be WITH me where I am; that they may behold my GLORY, which You have GIVEN to me: for You loved me before the foundation of the world.”
And WHY would Jesus say in John 7:18 that he was SEEKING to receive the GLORY of the one who SENT him, IF Jesus INTENDED his words in John 17:5 to mean RESTORE to me my former glory? Let us now read John 17:5 in its immediate CONTEXT to learn the true SOUND Biblical meaning when it is CORRECTLY interpreted in the LIGHT of the WHOLE word of Almighty God.
John 17:1-7. “These words spoke Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; GLORIFY Your Son, THAT (Or so THAT or in order THAT) Your Son ALSO may glorify You: (Speaking of at the return of Jesus) 2. As You have GIVEN him the power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as You have GIVEN him. 3. And THIS IS life eternal, THAT they might know YOU the ONLY TRUE God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have SENT. 4. I have glorified You on the earth: I have finished the work which You gave me to do. 5. And NOW, (It is your turn, the TIME or the HOUR has come for You) O Father, glorify You me WITH Your own self (According to the PROPHECIES in Psalm 21:1-6, Psalm 16:8-11, Psalm 45:6,7, and the JOY you set before me to ENDURE the cross, according to Hebrews 12:2) with the glory which I had with You before the world was. (Or more correctly translated, with the glory you promised in Your word that I would be having BEFORE the world to BE. In other words, the GLORY of God’s OWN divine nature was PROPHESIED in the Scriptures as a PROMISE to be given to His Messiah BEFORE the world to COME) 6. I have manifested Your name unto the men which You gave me out of the world: Yours they were, and You gave them to me; and they have kept Your word. 7. Now they have known that all things whatsoever You have GIVEN to me are OF YOU.”
Now, church TRADITION “interprets” the word SENT to dogmatically mean that God SENT His Son DOWN from HEAVEN to BECOME flesh. But Jesus teaches us that he SENT his disciples INTO the world in the SAME WAY the God SENT him INTO the world.
Please read John 17:16-19.
“THEY are NOT of the world, EVEN AS I am NOT of the world. 17. Sanctify them through Your truth: Your word is truth. 18. AS You have SENT me INTO the world, EVEN SO have I ALSO SENT them INTO the world. 19. And for their sake I SANCTIFY myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.”
Now, IF Jesus was a so-called God the Son that the Father sent down from heaven INTO the world as church tradition INTERPRETS verses of Scripture like John 3:16-18 to mean to THEM, then WHY would an already Holy God the Son need to SANCTIFY himself?
