Chapter 5.
Church TRADITION, sometimes called Orthodox Christianity, teaches that Almighty God the Father SENT His Son down from heaven into the world. And then, the Son of God named or called the Word became flesh. And thus, church TRADITION “interprets” the phrase “God came in the flesh” to mean that Almighty God Himself BECAME flesh. But is that what the Bible ITSELF teaches us? First of all, there are no Scriptures that state as a fact with no interpretation needed that God Himself BECAME flesh, became human, or became a man. But there are no less than two verses of Scripture that clearly teach us that God is NOT a MAN nor is God the Son of MAN.
Numbers 23:19.
“God is NOT a MAN, that He should lie; NEITHER the Son of MAN, that He should repent: has He said, and shall He not do it? Or has He spoken, and shall He not make it good?”
Hosea 11:9.
“I (Yahweh) will not execute the fierceness of My anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and NOT MAN; the Holy One in the midst of you: and I will not enter into the city.”
And according to Acts 13:33-38, the Son of MAN, Jesus is Yahweh’s Holy One. Yahweh is saying that He is God and NOT that MAN, the Holy One in the midst of you. Jesus will execute the vengeance and wrath of God, according to 1 Thessalonians 1:7-12, and Revelation 6:16,17. And we will meet Jesus in the AIR and assist him in executing the wrath of God according to Psalm 149:5-9, Revelation 18:4-6, Revelation 19:11-15, and many other verses of Scripture. Again, church TRADITION teaches that God CAME in the FLESH means that Almighty God Himself literally BECAME a human being. And they use the antichrist verses of Scripture found in 1 John 4:3, and 2 John 1:7 to try and prove that Jesus is Almighty God Himself in the flesh. Let us go ahead and read 1 John 4:3 so you can see that it does NOT say God came in the flesh, as in God BECAME flesh. But rather, it says Jesus Christ has come in the flesh.
1 John 4:3.
“And every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.”
Again, it says Jesus Christ has come in the FLESH and NOT God has come in the flesh, as in, God Himself BECAME flesh, which is how church TRADITION “interprets” this verse of Scripture that is taken OUT of its CONTEXT. Before we read this verse left in its context let us read and closely COMPARE the antichrist Scriptures so that you can see that the Apostle John is talking about the ANOINTING that has come to DWELL in the FLESH. First, the anointing came to DWELL IN the Son of MAN, Jesus. And NOW that SAME ANOINTING has come in the FLESH to DWELL in us. So then, as you can plainly see, NONE of these antichrist verses of Scripture teach us that Almighty God Himself BECAME flesh. But rather, they teach us that Almighty God came and DWELT in the body of the flesh of His human Son, Jesus.
Please read 1 John 2:18-27. “Little children, it is the last time: and as you have heard that antichrist shall come, even now there are many antichrists; hence, we know that it is the last time. 19. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. (In other words, the antichrists were Christians who departed from the TRUTH to teach a doctrine that contradicted the ANOINTING of the Holy Spirit coming to dwell in the FLESH of Jesus first and NOW dwells in us. You see, the Greek word that is “TRANSLATED” as the word “Christ” also means ANOINTING) 20. But you have an unction (Or you have the ANOINTING) from the Holy One, and you know all things. 21. I have not written unto you because you know not the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth. 22. Who is a liar, but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? (In other words, the Christians who dogmatically demand that Jesus is Almighty God Himself in the flesh DENY that Almighty God the Father came and DWELT IN the FLESH of Jesus. They may SAY that they believe that Jesus is ANOINTED, but in truth, they DENY or CONTRADICT what they SAY by their demanding the God BECAME flesh. For you see, HOW can Almighty God DWELL in HIMSELF? And WHY would Almighty God dwell in the flesh of His Son IF the Son was Almighty God Himself?) He is an antichrist that denies the Father AND the Son. 23. Whosoever denies the Son, the same has NOT the Father: (but) he that acknowledges the Son has the Father ALSO. (The Apostle John is exposing the ERROR called Modalism that is taught today by Pentecostal Oneness Christians, who wrongly teach that Almighty God the Father BECAME flesh and that the Son of God is the Father Himself. And John is warning them that they are actually DENYING both the Father AND the Son with their antichrist doctrine) 24. Let that therefore abide in you, which you have heard from the beginning. If that which you have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, you also shall continue in the Son, AND in the Father. 25. And this is the promise that he has promised us, even eternal life. 26. These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you. 27. But the ANOINTING which you have received of him abides in you, (Or but the Holy Spirit who came to dwell in your flesh to lead and guide you into all truth) and you need not that any man teach you: but as the SAME ANOINTING teaches you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it (Or more correctly, even a He) has taught you, you shall abide in Him.”
Clearly, the Apostle John is teaching us about the ANOINTING that came in the FLESH of the Son of MAN, Jesus, and NOT that Jesus the ANOINTED BECAME flesh. It says that the ANTICHRISTS deny that Jesus is the CHRIST. So clearly, the INTENDED meaning of the Apostle’s words in 1 John 4:3 is that the antichrists are teaching AGAINST the ANOINTING that has come in the FLESH. The anointing first came to dwell in the flesh of Jesus. And NOW, the SAME anointing has come to DWELL in our flesh to empower us to do the SAME works of Jesus, according to John 14:10-12. That passage of Scripture clearly teaches us that the FATHER did the works and Jesus is NOT the FATHER. But rather, the Father DWELT in His human Son, Jesus, according to 2 Corinthians 5:18-21. Now, let us go back and read 1 John 4:3 being LEFT in its CONTEXT so that you can see the ANOINTING dwelling in OUR flesh is the SAME anointing who dwelt in the FLESH of Jesus.
1 John 4:1-16.
“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. (In other words, WHAT spirit has taught the church TRADITION that Jesus pre-existed as God the Son who supposedly came down from heaven and BECAME flesh? Was that spirit the Holy Spirit of God? Or was that spirit NOT of God?) 2. Hereby KNOW you the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: (Or more correctly translated, Here is HOW you can KNOW the Spirit of God. Every spirit the confesses that Jesus ANOINTED has come in the flesh is of God) 3. And every spirit that confesses NOT that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God: (Again, more correctly translated, and every spirit that confesses NOT Jesus ANOINTED has come in the FLESH is NOT of God. The English word “that” is NOT in the original text.) and this is that spirit of antichrist, (The LITERAL translation reads, And every spirit NO AVOWING Jesus ANOINTED having come out of the God NOT is and this is the INSTEAD OF ANOINTED) whereof you have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. 4. You are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world. 5. They are of the world: therefore, they speak of the world, and the world hears them. 6. We are of God: he that knows God heareth us; he that is not of God hears not us. Hereby we know the Spirit of TRUTH, and the spirit of error. 7. Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loves is born of God, and knows God. 8. He that loves not knows not God; for God is love. 9. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. (So then, the question is HOW did God SEND His only BEGOTTEN Son INTO the world? Did God SEND His only BEGOTTEN Son who was BEGOTTEN by God in the eternity past DOWN from heaven INTO the world to BECOME FLESH? Or did God send His ONLY begotten Son conceived in the womb of the Virgin Mary INTO the world after ANOINTING him with POWER and the Holy Spirit at his baptism in the River Jordan?) 10. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and SENT His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. (And WHAT Son did God SEND to suffer and die on the cross? Was it the eternal divine immortal Son of God who died on the cross? Or was it the MORTAL human Son of MAN, Jesus, who died on the cross as the atonement for the sins of the world?) 11. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. 12. No man has seen God at any time. (But yet men have SEEN the ANOINTED Son of MAN, Jesus. And men have SEEN the now GLORIFIED Son of MAN, Jesus, after the cross and resurrection for forty days before he ascended into heaven to await his RETURN to glorify us who BELIEVE with the SAME GLORY that God GAVE to him, according to John 17:21,22) If we love one another, God dwells in us, and his love is perfected in us. (Or the ANOINTING who dwelt in Jesus now dwells in our FLESH. So yes, God came IN the FLESH but that does NOT mean that God BECAME flesh as church TRADITION wrongly INTERPRETS 1 John 4:3) 13. Hereby we KNOW that we dwell in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. (But THEY of the world who do NOT have the Spirit of God dwelling in them are LIARS) 14. And we have seen and do testify that the Father SENT the Son to be the Savior of the world. 15. Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God DWELLS in him, and he in God. 16. And we have known and believed the love that God has toward us. God is love; and he that dwells in love dwells in God, and God in him.”
Here in the CONTEXT of 1 John 4:3 we learn that God SENT His ONLY BEGOTTEN Son INTO the world. But the Trinitarian church TRADITION says that God the Son was NOT BEGOTTEN and always existed without ever having a BEGINNING. Otherwise, he could NOT be God if he had a BEGINNING. But the Bible ITSELF states as an undeniable FACT that God sent His ONLY BEGOTTEN Son INTO the world. And that means the Son of God had a BEGINNING. Now, if Trinitarian Christians argue that 1 John 4:9 is in FACT speaking of the Son of MAN, Jesus, being SENT by God INTO the world, then they can NO LONGER use this verse of Scripture to TRY and prove that God sent God the Son down from heaven INTO the world to BECOME flesh. And if they do use this verse, then you need to simply point out to them the undeniable FACT that the only begotten Son had a BEGINNING and Almighty God Himself never had a BEGINNING. Another passage of Scripture that you can show them is John 17:13-22 which clearly teaches us that Jesus SENT his disciples INTO the world in the SAME WAY that God SENT him INTO the world.
John 17:13-22.
“And now come I to You; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my JOY fulfilled in themselves. (Speaking of the SAME JOY fulfilled in us that God set before the Son of MAN, Jesus, to ENDURE the cross, according to Hebrews 12:2) 14. I have given them Your word; (Speaking of the word of LIFE) and the world has hated them, because they are NOT of the world, even as I am NOT of the world. (So then, WE are NOT of the world in the SAME WAY that Jesus is NOT of the world) 15. I pray not that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from evil. 16. They are NOT of the world, even as I am NOT of the world. 17. Sanctify them through Your truth: Your word is TRUTH. (Or Your word that I gave to them, the word of LIFE, is TRUTH) 18. AS You have SENT me INTO the world, even so have I also SENT them INTO the world. (Or in the same way that You have SENT your ONLY BEGOTTEN Son INTO the world EVEN SO or in the same way I ALSO have SENT them INTO the world) 19. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the TRUTH. (Now IF Jesus was truly Almighty God Himself in the flesh as church TRADITION claims, then WHY would an Almighty God need to SANCTIFY or to PURIFY and make Holy Himself for our sake? Can you not see how church TRADITION contradicts what the Bible ITSELF teaches us?) 20. Neither pray I for these alone, but for them ALSO which shall believe on me through their word; (So then, Jesus is speaking about EVERY true born again believer in him as being the Christ, the Son of the living God) 21. That THEY ALL may be ONE; as You, Father, ARE in me, and I in You, that THEY ALSO may be ONE in us: that the world may believe that You have SENT me. 22. And the GLORY which You GAVE me I have GIVEN them; that THEY may be ONE, even as we are ONE:”
So then, since we who believe will receive the SAME GLORY that God GAVE to His HUMAN Son, Jesus, after the cross and resurrection, then it is not logical to say that we pre-existed as Almighty God Himself. And seeing and understanding that Jesus SENT us INTO the world in the SAME way the God SENT His ONLY BEGOTTEN Son into the world, then it is not logical to say that God sent us down from heaven to become flesh. In other words, you have to be consistent when interpreting the Scriptures. And in this case, these verses can only mean ONE of TWO things.
#1. We ALSO pre-existed in all eternity past with God the Son as a part of the Godhead and God sent us down from heaven to BECOME flesh as well.
#2. Church TRADITION has INCORRECTLY interpreted the Scripture to create the man-made doctrine of the Trinity. And thus, the Son of God who was SENT INTO the world was the HUMAN Son of God miraculously BEGOTTEN by the living word in the WOMB of the Virgin Mary just as the Bible ITSELF clearly teaches us in SIMPLICITY in Luke 1:26-38.
Now, church TRADITION will argue and say what about John 3:13 and John 6:38 where Jesus himself said that he came DOWN FROM HEAVEN?
