The answer to the question, “Is having TWO God’s POLYTHEISM?” is both yes and no. For you see, if the one TRUE God gives us a COMMANDMENT to obey His Son even as we obey the Father, then it is NOT polytheism to obey the Son of God. But if one God is the one TRUE God and the other God is NOT the Son of God, then it is POLYTHEISM. And if both gods are NOT the Father and His Son of the Bible, then it is polytheism. For you see, if the other God is NOT the SON OF the only TRUE God, then we have no COMMANDMENT under the New Covenant giving us PERMISSION to honor and obey that other god. So now the question becomes “WHY are there TWO separate persons in the New Testament who are BOTH called God when there was only ONE God in the Old Testament of the Bible?” I mean how can there be TWO separate persons called God and there be only ONE TRUE God? Would that not mean that one of those two persons who is called God be a FALSE god, seeing that the Old Testament clearly teaches us that there is only ONE TRUE God? Again, the answer is both yes and no. For you see, there are MANY who are called by the NAME or TITLE of god in the Bible. For example, Satan is called the god of this world in 1 Corinthians 4:4, but all Christians and even the unsaved Jews know and understand that we are NOT to worship Satan even as we worship the Father. The angels are called the Elohim in the Old Testament and one of the meanings of the Hebrew word “elohim” means a god as well as also meaning the one TRUE God. But just because God calls the angels “gods” does NOT mean that we are to worship the angels. In fact, God commands us NOT to worship the angels. So then, why is it alright to honor the Son even as we honor the Father, but it is NOT alright to worship the angels or any other FALSE god? The answer to that question is that Almighty God the Father gave us a COMMANDMENT under the New Covenant written in the New Testament to HONOR His Son EVEN AS we honor the Father. So then, there is a DIFFERENCE between the Old Testament way that God was worshiped from the new way that God seeks to be worshiped under the NEW COVENANT written in the New Testament. And NOW, God seeks to be worshiped in SPIRIT and in TRUTH, according to John 4:23,24. Please read the study P-11. What does SPIRIT and TRUTH TRULY MEAN? But for now, please read John 5:22-24. John 5:22-24. “For the Father judges no man, but has COMMITTED all judgment unto the Son: 23. THAT (Or SO THAT, or in order THAT, or for the very purpose THAT) all men should honor the Son, EVEN AS they honor the Father. He that honors NOT the Son honors NOT the Father which has SENT him. 24. Verily, verily, (Or TRULY, TRULY) I say unto you, He that hears my word, and believes on Him that SENT me, has everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” So then, if you want to have ETERNAL LIFE, then you must believe in and HONOR both the Father AND His Son. This is a commandment as NOT simply a request or a suggestion. For you see, 1 John 2:21-26 and 2 John 1:6-11 clearly teach us this COMMANDMENT that if we have NOT the Father, then we do NOT have the Father either. And thus, we must have BOTH the Father and His Son in order to receive eternal life in the world to come. And if they are one and the self-same BEING then you cannot have BOTH the Father and His Son. But since the Bible ITSELF clearly teaches us that they are TWO separate persons or beings and BOTH are called by the name or title of God, then that means we have TWO Gods. Now some of the unsaved Jews and some of the unsaved Gentiles did not UNDERSTAND WHY God would command them to honor His Son even as they honored the Father. In other words, both the Jews and the Gentiles in the city of Athens were heavily influenced by philosophy. And Paul said the city was wholly after idolatry. And some of the Jews followed after the false gods of the pagan Gentiles. But other Jews remained faithful to believe in the ONE TRUE God. Please read Acts 17:16-34. “Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to IDOLATRY. 17. Therefore, (Or for this very reason that the city of Athen was given over to IDOLATRY) he disputed in the synagogue with the Jews, and with the devout persons, and in the market daily with them that met with him. 18. Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoicks, encountered him. (Which included both Jewish and Gentiles who were influenced by Greek Philosophy) And some said, What will this babbler say? Some others, He SEEMS to be a setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection. (Now, the preaching of that Apostle Paul that God MADE Jesus Lord to rule for Him would NOT sound strange to a gentile who worshiped many gods. But it would SEEM to the Jews that Paul was preaching more than just ONE God and that would be a strange god to the Jews) 19. And they took him, and brought him unto Areopagus, saying, May we know what this new doctrine, whereof you speak, is? 20. For you bring certain strange things to our ears: (Again, it would NOT be a STRANGE thing to an unsaved Gentile who worshiped many gods. But it would be a STRANGE thing for an unsaved Jew to hear that God now commands us to HONOR His Son, Jesus, even as we HONOR the Father) we would know therefore what these things mean. 21. (For all the Athenians and strangers who were there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing.) 22. Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars' hill, (Also known as Areopagus) and said, You men of Athens, I perceive that in all things you are too superstitious. 23. For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore, you ignorantly worship, Him declare I unto you. 24. God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that He is Lord of heaven and earth, dwells not in temples made with hands; 25. Neither is worshiped with men's hands, as though He needed anything, seeing He gives to all life, and breath, and all things; 26. And (He) has made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and (He) has determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; 27. That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after Him, and find Him, though He is not far from every one of us: 28. For in Him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also His offspring. 29. Forasmuch then, as we are the offspring of God, we ought NOT to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device. 30. And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but NOW commands all men everywhere to repent: 31. Because He has appointed a day, in which He will judge the world in righteousness BY that MAN whom He has ORDAINED; whereof He has given assurance unto all men, in that He has raised him from the dead. 32. And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear you again about this matter. 33. So Paul departed from among them. 34. Howbeit certain men clave unto him, and believed: among them was Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.” Please notice that all of the pronouns that refer back to the one Godhead are all SINGULAR. So then, Paul is teaching us that the Godhead is the ONE TRUE God in ONE person who ORDAINED the Son of MAN, Jesus, after the cross and resurrection to JUDGE the world. In other words, Paul is saying that God is ONE God is ONE person who ALONE is the FATHER who MADE the Son of MAN, Jesus, both Lord and Christ. And NOW under the NEW COVENANT, Almighty God seeks us to HONOR His HIGHLY EXACTED human Son on the same level as we honor the ONLY TRUE God. And to the Jews, this was a STRANGE NEW DOCTRINE that some of the Jews and Gentiles wanted to UNDERSTAND. So then, with that being said, let me see if I can “dumb” this down a little more so that you can see there worshiping two separate beings called Lord and God is NOT polytheism WHEN Almighty God HIMSELF ordained His human Son to be honored, worshiped, and OBEYED even as we honor, worship, and obey the Father. Now, in the Old Testament there was ONE God who was ONE Lord, according the the very words of Jesus himself in Mark 12: Please read the context in Mark 12:28-37. “And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all? 29. And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord OUR God is ONE Lord: (Jesus is quoting Deuteronomy 6:4 and calling the ONLY TRUE God his God by saying OUR God is ONE Lord) 30. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength: this is the first commandment. 31. And the second is like, (Or the second commandment of the TWO and only TWO commandments that we are given under the NEW COVENANT is like the first commandment) namely this, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is none other commandment greater than these. 32. And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, you have said the TRUTH: for there is ONE God; and there is none other but He: 33. And to love Him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, AND to love his neighbor as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices. 34. And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, You are not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst asked him any question. (But then, Jesus said, being CLOSE only counts in horseshoes. Seriously, Jesus is saying that being not far from the kingdom of God is not good enough. In other words, believing in the one true and only Almighty God will NOT get you into the Kingdom of heaven in the world to come. You must ALSO believe in God’s Christ, His SON if you want to receive eternal life in the world to come) 35. And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple, How do the scribes say that Christ is the Son of David? (Or what does it TRULY mean that Christ is the Son of David?) 36. For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit you on my right hand, TILL I make your enemies your footstool. 37. David therefore himself calls him Lord; and whence is he then His son? (Or how can it be that King David is God’s Son seeing that David calls him MY Lord?) And the common people heard him gladly.” So then, Jesus was teaching the Jews that he was the Christ, the Son of the living God. And if they did NOT believe that he is who he said from the very beginning of his ministry that God ANOINTED him, then they would DIE in their sins. But some of the Jews even to this day do not understand how Jesus can be called God, when to them, there can only be ONE TRUE God. So let me try to explain what Jesus being called God TRULY means in the LIGHT of the SCRIPTURES. In the Old Testament men like Abraham were called “lord” and Yahweh was also called LORD. But every Jew knows and understands that the word LORD always referred to Almighty God the Father unless another person was called lord. And thus, that other person would be a lord under and subject to the LORD who alone is that Father. The Jews also understand that Yahweh is the Eternal King and a person called a king is simply a king under and subject to the Eternal King. So then, just like the words “lord” and “king” are TITLES of names, so also in the word “God” a TITLE or a NAME. And thus, God MADE His human Son a God under and subject to his God and Father the ONLY TRUE God. In other words, the Father ALONE is the ONLY TRUE God and His Son, Jesus, is a God under and subject to his God. So then, BOTH are called God by TITLE but they are not the SAME being. The Father always existed and the Son was BEGOTTEN or brought into existence BY God. Now, according to the Scriptures in Isaiah 9:6,7, Almighty God the Father gave us a PROPHECY of the Messiah that his NAME shall be called the mighty God WHEN the governments of this present world will be laid upon the Messiah’s shoulders. In other words, when the Messiah comes to rule as God’s King over the earth his NAME or TITLE will be the God of the whole earth, according to the PROPHECY in Isaiah 54:6. Isaiah 54:5. “For your Maker is your husband; the LORD of hosts is His NAME; AND your Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.” So then, WHO is the Holy One of Israel that is the Lord’s Christ? Please read Acts 2:22-39. “You men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a MAN approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by (Or through) him in the midst of you, as you yourselves also know: 23. Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, you have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: 24. Whom God has raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be held of it. 25. For David speaks CONCERNING him, (Or concerning Jesus of Nazareth whom God resurrected) I (Messiah Jesus) foresaw the Lord always before my face, for He is on my right hand, that I should not be moved: 26. Therefore, did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope: 27. Because You will not leave my soul in hell, neither will You suffer Your Holy One to see corruption. 28. You have made known to me the ways of life; You shall make me full of joy with Your countenance. (According to Hebrew 12:2 Almighty God the Father set a JOY before the Son of MAN, Jesus, to endure the cross. And Jesus sweat great drops of blood to submit his own will to the will of his God and Father) 29. Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulcher is with us unto this day. 30. Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, He would raise up Christ to sit on His throne; 31. He, seeing this before, spoke of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. 32. This Jesus has God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. 33. Therefore, being by the right hand of God, EXALTED, and having RECEIVED from the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he (The NOW highly excited glorified Son of MAN, Jesus having been GIVEN all power and authority by his God after the cross and resurrection) has shed forth this, which you now see and hear. 34. For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he said himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit you on MY right hand, 35. UNTIL I make your foes your footstool. 36. Therefore, let all the house of Israel KNOW ASSUREDLY, that God has MADE that same Jesus, whom you have crucified, both Lord and Christ. 37. Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the Apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? 38. Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the NAME of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, (Speaking of the NEW NAME that Almighty God GAVE to the Son of MAN, Jesus, after the cross and resurrection, according to Philippians 2:8-11, Isaiah 62:2, and Revelation 3:12) and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.” So then, now that you KNOW ASSUREDLY that Almighty God the Father MADE His human Son His Lord after the cross and resurrection, to rule for Him, what do you think the NEW NAME of Jesus is? We do not have to GUESS, because his new name is prophesied in the Old Testament Scriptures. We already saw that the Messiah’s NAME shall be called the Mighty God in Isaiah 9:6,7. And we already saw in Isaiah 54:5 that the redeemer, the Holy One of Israel shall be called the God of the whole earth. Let us first read Zechariah 14:9 where God prophesied that during that day, speaking of the 1000 year long day of the Lord, Yahweh shall be King over all of the earth and there shall be ONE Yahweh and His NAME ONE. Zechariah 14:9. “And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in (Or during) that day (Speaking of the 1000 year reign of Jesus who will rule FOR Yahweh in the NAME of Yahweh as Yahweh’s King of kings and Lord of lord) shall there be ONE LORD, and His NAME ONE.” Remember that Jesus said that WE shall be ONE with the Father even as Jesus and the Father are ONE. So the sound Biblical meaning of being ONE means to be in unity and in AGREEMENT. And thus, the ONE LORD is Jesus who has been GIVEN all authority and power to rule FOR Yahweh, in the ONE NAME of Yahweh. Now, all Christians know and understand that God’s Son will rule and reign as the King of kings over the earth during the world to come. But what some Christians have not been taught is that God MADE, SET, appointed, and ordained his human Son to be His King over the earth for 1000 years UNTIL God finishes putting all of his enemies under his feet. And the last enemy to be destroyed is death, according to 1 Corinthians 15:20-28. Some Christians have not been taught that Almighty God the Father is the ETERNAL King. Here is the LITERAL translation of Zechariah 14:9.
“And he BECOMES Yahweh FOR King over all the earth in that day the HE SHALL BECOME Yahweh one and name of him one.” Now let us read 1 Timothy 1:17-19. “Now unto the King ETERNAL, IMMORTAL, INVISIBLE, the ONLY wise God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen. 18. This CHARGE I commit unto you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on you, that you by them might war a good warfare; 19. Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:” What CHARGE did the Apostle Paul commit unto Timothy? It was the FAITH that the INVISIBLE God is the ETERNAL King who made His Son, Jesus a King of kings. So then, Almighty God the Father is THE King of kings who made His Son a King of kings and Lord of lords over the earth. And in 1 Timothy 6:13-16, Paul calls this CHARGE a COMMANDMENT. Please read 1 Timothy 6:12-16. “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto you are also called, and have professed a good profession before many witnesses. 13. I give you CHARGE in the sight of God, who quickens all things, AND before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession; (To this END was I BORN to be the King of Israel) 14. That you keep THIS COMMANDMENT without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: (Whom God MADE both Lord and Christ after the cross and resurrection, according to Acts 2:36) 15. Which in his times (Speaking of the first and second comings) he shall show, who is the blessed and ONLY Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; 16. Who ONLY has IMMORTALITY, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man has seen, nor can see: to whom be honor and power everlasting. Amen.” Now, obviously, men have SEEN Jesus and Jesus came to show us the FATHER as the ONLY TRUE God, according to John 17:1-3. So then, the one who ONLY is the King of Kings and the Lord of lords that Jesus came to SHOW us is the ETERNAL King, the INVISIBLE and ONLY wise God, according to 1 Timothy 1:17-19 which we just read moments ago. With that being said, let us now read the PROPHECY in Jeremiah which teaches us what the NEW NAME given to the Son of MAN, Jesus, is. Jeremiah 23:5,6.
“Behold, the days come, (Speaking of the first AND the second coming of Jesus the Messiah) says the LORD,( Or says Yahweh the creator) that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. (Notice that the Messiah will come first as a righteous branch. And then, at his second coming, he shall reign as a King and he will execute judgment in the earth FOR Yahweh the Eternal King) 6. In his days (Speaking of three 1000 year-long days for one day is as a 1000 years to Yahweh. In his days, prophesying of the days of Yahweh’s Christ) Judah shall be SAVED (Judah is a type or figure of the church which will be SAVED during the FIRST two days or the first two thousand years), and Israel shall dwell safely: (Meaning that during the THIRD day or the 1000 year reign of Jesus the children of Israel will dwell on the earth safely without any enemies like they have now in this present world) and this is his NAME whereby he SHALL BE called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.” The Hebrew word translated as the LORD is the NAME Yahweh. So then, the NEW NAME of Jesus is Yahweh our RIGHTEOUSNESS. In other words, BEFORE the cross and resurrection there was only ONE God in ONE person whose name is Yahweh. And NOW, under the New Covenant established at the cross and resurrection there are TWO SEPARATE persons or beings who have the NAME Yahweh, Almighty God the Father and His highly exalted Human Son, Jesus. So then, the third commandment is speaking of the NAME of the Lord as being the NEW NAME of His Son, Jesus that Yahweh GAVE to the Son of MAN, Jesus after the cross and resurrection. Please read the study called Dd-19. What does the LORD'S NAME in VAIN mean? In that study you will find all of the verses of Scripture showing more PROPHECIES of the NEW NAME of Jesus. In this study I will only explain one more of the many verses of Scriptures prophesying the new name of Jesus. Again, the Son OF Almighty God the Father was not given his NEW NAME of Yah Yahweh and Yahweh our RIGHTEOUSNESS until AFTER his God and Father glorified the Son of MAN, Jesus, and gave him a NAME above every other name, according to Philippians 2:8-11.
Isaiah 45:4.
“For Jacob my servant's sake, and Israel mine elect, I have even called YOU by YOUR name: (Jesus which means salvation of Yahweh or Yahweh saves) I have surnamed YOU, though you have NOT known me.”
In other words, the CHILD Jesus did not know his God and Father in the eternity past. God CALLED His human Son to walk in RIGHTEOUSNESS as his God and Father HELD his hand and HELPED His human Son overcome sin. The name Jesus means the salvation OF Yahweh, as in, Yahweh PROVIDE His way of saving whosoever believes in His Son, Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Also, to surname here means to address with an ADDITIONAL name or TITLE. And it was after the cross that Yahweh HIGHLY EXALTED the Son of MAN, Jesus, and GAVE him a NAME, a NEW NAME that is ABOVE every other name so that AT the NAME every knee should bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord TO the glory OF the Father. So then, at the new SURNAME of Jesus which is Yah Yahweh or Yahweh junior, so to speak, every knee will bow down to God’s King Jesus and call him Lord to the GLORY OF Almighty God the Father. And that is what the Bible ITSELF teaches us about TWO DEITIES, one Deity who always existed and the other Deity whom God MADE to become a Deity after the cross and resurrection. And it is all PROPHESIED in the Scriptures. Again, please read the study called Dd-19. What does the LORD'S NAME in VAIN mean? In closing, let us read one more PROPHECY of God’s Christ or God’s Messiah. Isaiah 50:4-10.
“The Lord GOD has given ME the tongue of the learned, that I (Yahweh’s Messiah) should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he (through his Holy Spirit) wakens (ME his Messiah the understood subject) morning by morning, he wakes MY ear to hear as the learned. (Remember the Rabbi’s marveling at the 12-year-old boy Jesus wondering how he could know so much about God’s word having no teacher? They did not understand that the Holy Spirit of Yahweh was his teacher) 5. The Lord GOD has opened MY ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back. 6. I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting. (These are prophecies of God’s Messiah that were fulfilled in Jesus just before the Son of MAN was crucified. Jesus endured these sufferings and the cross for the JOY set before him and he did not rebel or resist what his God prophesied to be) 7. For (Or because Jesus understood the other prophecies concerning him that) the Lord GOD will help me; therefore, shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed. 8. He is near that justifies me; who will contend with me? This will be fulfilled at the coming of Jesus to rule FOR Yahweh over the earth IN the MAE OF Yahweh who MADE the Son of MAN, Jesus both Lord and Christ. So this is a PROPHECY of Jesus saying to Yahweh at his second coming) let us stand together: who is my adversary? Let him come near to me. 9. Behold, the Lord GOD will help me; who is he that shall condemn me? Lo, they all shall wax old as a garment; the moth shall eat them up. 10. Who is among you that fears the LORD (Yahweh), that obeys (You see, AT the coming of Jesus there will be Christians who have OBEYED the voice of Yahweh to OBEY) the voice of his SERVANT, (Speaking of Yahweh's Messiah, Jesus. But there will the unsaved Jews and the unsaved Gentile who have not yet obeyed the voice of Yahweh speaking to them through his Messiah, HIS SERVANT. And thus, AT coming of Jesus, there will also be those) that walk in darkness, and have no light? Let him (Those who walk in darkness and have no light) trust in the NAME of the LORD, and stay upon HIS God.”
And Yahweh's God is Jesus whom He Himself MADE to BECOME His Lord and His God AFTER the cross. Jesus is Yahweh’s SERVANT. Jesus is Yahweh’s CHRIST. Jesus is Yahweh's PROPHET. Jesus is Yahweh’s HOLY ONE. Jesus is Yahweh’s LORD. Jesus is Yahweh's SAVIOR Jesus is Yahweh’s SON. Jesus is Yahweh’s KING. Jesus is Yahweh’s NAME. Jesus is Yahweh’s GOD who will rule FOR Yahweh the Father for 1000 years in the FIRST DOMINION speaking of the world to come, the 1000 year reign of Jesus. And Jesus will rule IN the NAME OF Yahweh. In other words, Jesus will rule in the AUTHORITY that is IN the NAME OF Yahweh that his God and Father GAVE to the Son of MAN, Jesus, AFTER the cross and resurrection to be DECLARED the Son OF God with POWER, according to Romans 1:3,4. It is like an earthly king GIVING his Son the AUTHORITY to rule over the earthly king's kingdom for a DAY. But a DAY with the Lord is as 1000 years long and 1000 years is as one DAY. So the 7000 year plan of salvation to Almighty God is AS just ONE WEEK to Him. So Jesus was MADE Yahweh's God over the earth just ONE DAY or for 1000 years. And when the Millennial reign of Jesus ends in the world to come or in the FIRST DOMINION, then Jesus will step DOWN from ruling the Kingdom of Yahweh and commit the RULING of God's Kingdom BACK into the hands of his God and Father to rule in the ages to come after the 1000 year reign of Jesus is over according to 1 Corinthians 15:20-28, and the PROPHECY in Micah 4:2-8.
