In part 1 of this study, we left off with the words of Jesus who gave us only TWO commandments that we are to OBEY under the New Covenant written in those two commandments of Jesus. Let us read that paragraph again to refresh your memory before we move on to the next SDA Church PERSUASION to subvert and compel Christians to keep the weekly Sabbath DAY that Jesus nailed to the cross. Yes, Jesus did indeed say, “if you love me you will keep MY commandments.” Please understand that Jesus did NOT say, “if you love me you will keep the TEN Commandments.” Can you not see that Jesus gave us only TWO commandments and ALL of the Law of God that Christians are required to do to receive eternal life in the world to come are FULFILLED in our just obeying those TWO commandments?

“Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37. Jesus said unto him, You shall LOVE the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. 38. This is the first and great commandment. (In other words, if you love Yahweh our heavenly Father then you will love His Son Jesus as well and OBEY the TWO commandments of Jesus which are to love the Father and to love our neighbor as ourselves. And if we love the Father we will honor His Son even as we honor the Father) 39. And the second (Commandment of Jesus) is like unto it, You shall LOVE your neighbor as yourself. 40. On these TWO commandments hang ALL the law and the prophets.”
Some seventh day of the week Sabbath-keeping Christians argue that ALL the law HANGS on these two commandments which means, to THEM, that Christians must KEEP ALL the Law of Moses under the Old Covenant along WITH all of the NEW commandments under the New Covenant written in the New Testament. And thus, to THEM, NO law, commandment, statue, or ordinance has been ABOLISHED. However, the TRUE SOUND Biblical meaning of “On these TWO commandments hang ALL the law and the prophets” means that ALL of the Law of God is FULFILLED by our OBEYING just these TWO commandments which do NOT say that we must keep the weekly Sabbath DAY. Jesus gave us THESE LEAST commandments by nailing the ORDINANCES of the law of ceremonial commandments to the cross and taking them out of the way for righteousness. And the Apostle Paul clearly teaches us in Colossians 2:14-17 that the SABBATHS are a SHADOW and the body of Jesus Christ. Now, I realize that the SDA Christians understand full well that the law of commandments contained in ORDINANCES have INDEED been abolished and nailed to the cross. So this study is focused primarily on the questions asked “sarcastically” by the SDA Church, “IS THE WEEKLY SABBATH DAY STILL BINDING?” which THEY say yes to. And as I said at the beginning of this study, the short answer to their hypothetical sarcastically asked question is NO! The keeping of the weekly Sabbath DAY to REST on the seventh DAY is NOT binding to Christians. We are under the New Covenant written in the New Testament and we are to OBEY the TWO new commandments of Jesus. To learn more of WHY Christians are NOT to keep the weekly Sabbath DAY please continue to read part two of this study in God’s word. With that being said let us continue covering the SDA Church arguments one at a time for why THEY feel the need to keep the weekly Sabbath DAY in order to please God. The comments in parentheses and the emphasis are mine.
Please notice how Moses clearly separated the Ten Commandments, which “he commanded you,” from the statutes which “he commanded me” to give the people. The big question now is whether those statutes and judgments, which Moses passed on to the people, were designated as a separate and distinct “law.” God answers that important question in such a way that no doubt can remain. (Not really, for you see, they are not giving you ALL the Scriptures. And they are taking verses of Scripture OUT of their context and placing their own personal interpretation on those verses of Scripture to fit their preconceived church doctrine that Christians must keep the weekly Sabbath DAY lest they sin) “Neither will I make the feet of Israel move any more out of the land which I gave their fathers; only if they will observe to do according to all that I have commanded them and according to all the law that my servant Moses commanded them” (2 Kings 21:8). Here we are assured that the statutes which Moses gave the people were called a “law.” Any child can discern that two different laws are being described. God speaks of the law “I commanded” and also the “law ... Moses commanded.” (The TRUTH of the matter is that God COMMANDED Moses to COMMAND the children of Israel the WHOLE Law of God and NOT just the TEN Commandments. ALL of the Law of God was given to Moses to COMMAND to the children of Israel at the SAME period of time after the children of Israel came out of the land of Egypt. And those commandments contained the handwriting of Moses in ordinances that explained the JUDGMENTS for breaking any of God’s LAW and explainedHOW to keep the commandments of the CEREMONIAL services UNTO Yahweh. Moses did not have his own law as being SEPARATE from God’s Law. There is only ONE Law and that is the Law of God that is now written in a BOOK called the Book of the Law) Unless this truth is understood properly, limitless confusion will result.(Also, notice that they have taken 2 Kings 21:8 out of its context which is speaking about the world yet to come when Israel will NEVER again be moved out of their land that God gave to them to possess. You see, at the end of this present world during the great tribulation, the people of Israel will be both killed and driven off their land to be held as prisoners awaiting their death. And I might add that there will be some Christians in the land of Judea at that time who will also be killed and taken captive as well. The SHADOW of the ceremonial Law of God points to Jesus and the New Covenant. And the weekly sabbath is a SHADOW pointing to Jesus as the Messiah who established the New PERPETUAL COVENANT. The whole point of the law and the prophets is to point to Jesus and the New Covenant to OBEY the TWO commandments of Jesus under the New Covenant written in the New Testament) Daniel was inspired to make the same careful distinction when he prayed for the desolated sanctuary of his scattered nation. “Yea, all Israel have transgressed thy law, even by departing, that they might not obey thy voice;(It was the VOICE of Yahweh that commanded Moses to command to Israel ALL the Law of God which Moses wrote down which ALSO included the JUDGMENTS for breaking ANY of the Law of God. So, in truth, the Law of God is one and the self-same LAW as the Law of Moses. And the ONLY distinction is the distinction between the ceremonial commandments that are services UNTO Yahweh and the SIX MORAL commandments in the TEN Commandments that are services unto our fellow man) therefore the curse is poured upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against him” (Daniel 9:11). Once more we see “thy law” and “the law of Moses,” and this time the two are recognized as different in content. There are no curses recorded in the Ten Commandments that God wrote, (NOT TRUE! The fourth commandment has a curse or judgment that says if any man breaks the Sabbath REST by working then they shall be put to death. And how do you or anyone KNOW that this judgment of the FOURTH commandment was NOT written by the finger of God on the two tablets of stone that God wrote on BOTH sides of each of the two separate tablets) but the law which Moses wrote contained an abundance of such curses and judgments. (Again, God commanded Moses WHAT to write so what Moses wrote IS God’s law. You can NOT separate God’s law to say that the Law of Moses is a different law than the Law of God. You simply do not know what you are talking about. Paul says in 1 Timothy 1:6,7 that what you are doing is VAIN jangling. You have swerved from the truth desiring to be teachers of the law. And Ephesians 2:15 says LAW in the singular and the ONE law of commandments, speaking of ALL the commandments and NOT just to TEN commandments or ONLY the so-called ADDED commandments of Moses of the feast days and dietary laws. But rather, it is ALL the Law of God in ALL of the commandments contained in ORDINANCES that was abolished at the cross. Please read the study Dd-5. What Does Contained in ORDINANCES Mean?) The major point of difference between the law of God and the law of Moses, though, lies in the way they were recorded and preserved. We have already cited Moses’ statement that God “wrote them (the Ten Commandments) upon two tables of stone” (Deuteronomy 4:13). Compare that with Exodus 31:18, “two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.” No one can confuse this writing with the way the mosaic law was produced. “And Moses wrote this law ... And it came to pass, when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law in a book, until they were finished, That Moses commanded the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of the Lord, saying, Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee” (Deuteronomy 31:9, 24-26). This book of statutes and judgments which Moses wrote in a book was placed in a pocket on the side of the ark. In contrast, the law written by God on tables of stone was placed inside the ark of the covenant. “And thou shalt put into the ark the testimony which I shall give thee” (Exodus 25:16). At this point we can note several distinctions in the two laws. They had different authors, were written on different material, were placed in different locations and had totally different content.
Let us pause here to take a CLOSER look at the PERSUASION of the SDA Church that has subverted and compelled Christians to keep the weekly Sabbath DAY as a REQUIREMENT in order to receive eternal life in the world to come. Please understand that the SDA Christians MUST divide the ONE LAW of God apart so that they can “persuade” Christians that the keeping of the weekly Sabbath DAY is still binding for Christians as it was on the Jews. You see, if they can persuade you that it was ONLY the Law of Moses that was ADDED at Mount Horeb, then they can subvert and compel you to wrongly keep what Jesus nailed to the cross. And, to me, to keep what Jesus nailed to the cross is DISPLEASING to God rather than being more pleasing to God. To me, keeping the weekly Sabbath DAY that Jesus nailed to the cross is no different than offering animal sacrifices to God which Jesus NAILED to the cross. Please understand and know that God gave His WHOLE law at Mount Horeb and NOT just the TEN commandments. Understand that AFTER Adam sinned ALL of mankind received a God given CONSCIENCE to know right from wrong. God did not give Adam any other commandment than just the ONE commandment to NOT eat of the ONE tree of KNOWLEDGE of good and evil. BEFORE Adam sinned, neither Adam nor Eve had a CONSCIENCE to know what was right or wrong. They did not know that they were NAKED until they ate of the tree of KNOWLEDGE to then KNOW what is good and what is evil. In other words, they ate of the tree of CONSCIOUSNESS to receive a CONSCIENCE in the mind of good and evil. When there was NO law in their CONSCIENCE their nakedness was not imputed to them. They had NO conscience to know that being naked was sin. But when Adam disobeyed the ONE commandment to NOT eat of the tree of CONSCIOUSNESS of KNOWLEDGE to KNOW good from evil then Adam received a CONSCIENCE to know right from wrong. The Law of God was written in man's CONSCIENCE And from then on every human has a God given CONSCIENCE to know that he or she is TRANSGRESSING God’s instructions in their minds. And BECAUSE of TRANSGRESSIONS the LAW was added, INCLUDING the TEN Commandments. There were NO TEN Commandments before Mount Horeb which is when God gave ALL the words of the Law of God to Moses to be given ONLY to the children of Israel because they were the ONLY race of people in a COVENANT relationship with God through the covenant of PROMISE that God gave to Abraham around 430 years earlier.
Please read Exodus 24:3,4.
“And Moses came and told the people ALL the words OF the LORD, AND all the judgments: and all the people answered with one voice, and said, ALL the words which the LORD hath said will we do. 4. And Moses wrote ALL the words of the LORD, (Moses did NOT just write only the curses and the judgments of the ONE Law of God in COMMANDMENTS. But rather, Moses wrote down BOTH the COMMANDMENTS and the judgments in a book which is called the books of the law that is called the Law of God in Nehemiah 8:8) and rose up early in the morning, and built an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel.”
Now read Deuteronomy 5:22.
“These words the LORD spoke unto all your assembly in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and He added no more. And he wrote them on two tables of stone, and delivered them unto me.”
In other words, Yahweh added no more to the VOICE that the children of Israel heard with their own ears thundering out of the fire and cloud of smoke around Mount Horeb. But that does NOT mean that God added no more words that He COMMANDED Moses to write down in a book at the SAME time in which the TEN Commandments were given ONLY to the children of Israel 430 years after God made a covenant of PROMISE to Abraham. You see, the SDA Church, as well as all of the seventh day of the week Sabbath-keeping Christians, CLAIM that the weekly Sabbath was given to all of mankind at creation week. However, the CLEAR, plain, and SIMPLE word of Almighty God teaches that the fourth commandment of keeping the Sabbath DAY was NOT even given to the children of Israel until AFTER God delivered them from bondage in the land of Egypt. Please read the study Dd-22. Was the Sabbath GIVEN at CREATION Week? But for now, please read the CONTEXT of Deuteronomy 5:22.
Deuteronomy 5:1-6.
“And Moses called all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes AND judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that you may LEARN them, and keep, and do them. (In the light of the whole word of God that the law is a schoolmaster to lead the Jews to Jesus. And the word “learn” here means not only to memorize all the statutes or ORDINANCES and judgments but ALSO to learn WHY the ordinances and HARSH judgments were given to them in the first place. Also, the reason WHY Moses had to speak the REST of God’s commandments, statutes or ORDINANCES, and judgments was because the children of Israel were too AFRAID to continue to hear the VOICE of Yahweh thundering out of the fire. So they told Moses to go hear the VOICE of Yahweh for them. This is also very significant because it shows us that Moses is a figure of Jesus as being our mediator between God and us under the New Covenant. But for now, please know and understand that God added no more than the TEN Commandments while speaking face to face with the children of Israel. If one says that God gave ONLY the TEN Commandments to the children of Israel on Mount Horeb then you are DECEIVING Christians because you know full well that Moses went up the mount a SECOND time called Mount Sinai. This too is a SHADOW pointing to the New PERPETUAL COVENANT written in the New Testament because the FIRST two tables of stone were thrown down by the hand of Moses and BROKEN. This is a SHADOW pointing to the New Covenant. Can you not see that the Holy Bible is DIVIDED into TWO different Testaments of two different COVENANTS and that they are NOT the SAME covenant?) 2. The LORD our God made a covenant with us IN Horeb. 3. The LORD made NOT this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day. (In other words, BEFORE Mount Horeb, also called Mount Sinai, the children of Israel were under the covenant of PROMISE that God gave to Abraham. And that means that there were NO TEN Commandments given to the children of Israel, or to any Gentile either for that matter, BEFORE Mount Sinai. But rather, all humans were led by their CONSCIENCE only. In other words, no man passed down from generation to generation any law of God that was written down. God led man and the children of Israel by speaking in man’s CONSCIENCE. But at Mount Horeb) 4. The LORD talked with you (Speaking of ONLY the children of Israel AFTER they came out of bondage in the land of Egypt) face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire, (This means face to face, as in, they saw not any form of God but ONLY HEARD His VOICE, according to the context in Deuteronomy 4:12) 5. (I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to show you the word of the LORD: for you were AFRAID by reason of the fire, and went not up into the mount;) saying, (The children of Israel were afraid that if they heard the VOICE of Yahweh any further then they would die. So God honored their DESIRE and stopped talking face to face with them after they heard ONLY the FIRST TEN of the commandments of God who spoke SAYING face to face to the children of Israel with a thundering VOICE out of the fire. God had MORE commandments to speak to them by VOICE but they were AFRAID they would die. So God spoke by VOICE to Moses the REST of His commandments and then Yahweh commanded Moses to speak the REST of His commandments to the children of Israel) 6. I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.”
This account in Deuteronomy is referring to the time of around 430 years after Abraham and many of the children of Israel had died in each generation after generation before the children of Israel were made slaves in the land of Egypt. We must keep the verses of Scripture that we use to teach church doctrine in their CONTEXT in order to know their TRUE SOUND Biblical meaning. All false teaching comes from taking verses of Scripture OUT of their context and reading INTO those verses of Scripture that have been taken out of context one’s own personal interpretation of their own preconceived belief. So please read the CONTEXT of Deuteronomy 5:22 which says, “He added no more”, that is WRONGLY interpreted by the SDA Christians to mean that God gave ONLY the TEN Commandment in Mount Horeb and then Moses gave the rest of the commandments.
Please read Deuteronomy 5:24-28.
“And you said, Behold, the LORD our God has shown us His glory and His greatness, and we have heard His VOICE out of the midst of the fire: we have seen THIS day that God does talk with man, and he lives. 25. Now, therefore, why should we die? For this great fire will consume us: IF we hear the voice of the LORD our God ANYMORE, then we shall die. 26. For who is there of all flesh, that has heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived? 27. Go you near, (Or Moses, you go near for us) and hear ALL that the LORD our God shall say: and speak you unto us ALL that the LORD our God shall speak unto you; and we will hear it, and do it. 28. And the LORD heard the voice of your words, when you spake unto me; and the LORD said unto me, I have heard the voice of the words of this people, which they have spoken unto you: they have well said all that they have spoken.”
Now compare “they have well said all that they have spoken.” with Deuteronomy 18:15-19.
Deuteronomy 18:15-19.
“The LORD your God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of you, of your brethren, like unto me; unto him you shall hearken; (And that Prophet is Jesus Christ. Now notice that it was ACCORDING to the words of the children of Israel that Yahweh wanted them to say so that He could raise up a Savior from among their brethren) 16. ACCORDING to all that YOU DESIRED of the LORD your God IN Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me NOT hear again the VOICE of the LORD my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not. 17. And the LORD said unto me, They have WELL spoken that which they have spoken. (To me, this is like Yahweh saying YES! That is exactly what I wanted them to say! And now) 18. I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto you, and will put MY words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. 19. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will NOT hearken unto my words which he shall speak in MY name, I will require it of him.”
God made what is referred to in Hebrew 5:13 as the first covenant given at Mount Horeb OLD so that He could give His New PERPETUAL covenant that was established in the shed blood of His human Son, Jesus, God's TRUE Passover Lamb. So Christians had better HEARKEN to the TWO commandments that Yahweh put in the mouth of Jesus to give to us. And in the entire New Testament under the New Covenant there is NO mention of any commandment to keep ANY DAY as a service to God or as a commandment for us to REST during a 24 hour DAY. The seventh DAY of the week points to the Seventh 1000 year long day of Yahweh's REST in the world to come. That is why Yahweh says MY Sabbath. So I implore Christians to STAY in the New Testament to learn what God requires us to do under the NEW COVENANT. Again, the Old Covenant vanished away at the cross and completely ended in 70 AD when the Roman army destroyed the Jewish temple. Please read the following verses of Scripture to learn what we MUST DO in order to receive eternal life in the world to come. Please notice that when Jesus was SPECIFICALLY asked what is required to do in order to receive ETERNAL LIFE Jesus listed SIX MORAL commandments and not one hint of a word about keeping the Sabbath DAY.
Matthew 19:16-19.
“And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I DO, that I may have eternal life? (Not what we must do to be saved but what we must do to receive eternal life) 17. And he said unto him, Why do you call me good? There is none good but one, that is, God: but if you will enter into life, keep the commandments. 18. He said unto him, WHICH? (Notice that he SPECIFICALLY asked Jesus WHICH commandments MUST he obey to receive eternal life and Jesus listed only the SIX MORAL commandments and NO ceremonial commandments, including NOT listing the ceremonial law of the weekly Sabbath DAY) Jesus said, You shall do no murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, 19. Honor your father and your mother: and, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
And when we, as true born again Christians who have been made new creatures by God creating us IN Jesus Christ, LOVE our neighbor as ourselves, then we FULFILL ALL the law of God required by Yahweh to receive eternal life in the world to come. In other words, you FIRST must BE saved and then after one is initially saved by having all their past sin forgiven THEN they fulfill ALL the law of God that Yahweh requires to receive the END of our salvation which is eternal life in the world to come. I do NOT want the unsaved to wrongly think that just because they are good people means that they will receive eternal life AT the coming of Jesus by ACTING like good faithful Christians. You have to BE a TRUE born-again Christian in order to receive eternal life in the world to come. I did not write the Bible, I am simply telling you what the Bible ITSELF teaches. So if you do not KNOW if you are truly saved then I implore you to read the studies under the heading >>>E-0. WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED?<<<
John 14:15.
“If you love me, keep MY commandments.”
Jesus did NOT say, if you love me then keep all the Law of Moses under the Old Covenant written in the Old Testament. And NEITHER did Jesus say, if you love me keep the TEN Commandments. But rather, Jesus said, if you love me keep MY commandments. So let us obey Yahweh’s words in Deuteronomy 18:15-19 to HEARKEN unto the words of Jesus that Yahweh Himself put in Jesus’ mouth to teach to us, as Christians. And Jesus gave us a NEW commandment.
John 13:34,35.
“A new commandment I give unto you, That you LOVE one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35. By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, IF you have love one to another.”
Jesus was asked which is the GREATEST commandment and here is what Jesus said.
Matthew 22:37-40.
“Jesus said unto him, You shall LOVE the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. 38. This is the first and great commandment. 39. And the second is like unto it, You shall LOVE your neighbor as yourself. 40. On these TWO commandments hang ALL the law and the prophets.”
So what does “HANG” all the law and prophets on these TWO commandments mean in the LIGHT of the WHOLE word of Almighty God. Do not listen to men’s OPINIONS. But rather, believe the CLEAR, PLAIN word of God that teaches us in SIMPLICITY what the words of Jesus mean that say, “On these TWO commandments hang ALL the law and the prophets ”. They MEAN that IF we walk in LOVE toward one another then we FULFILL ALL the Law of God that Yahweh requires of us as new creatures created in Jesus Christ to receive eternal life in the world to come. Keep reading the Scriptures.
Galatians 6:2.
“Bear you one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”
So when Jesus said if you LOVE me then you will keep MY commandments Jesus also means to go above and beyond the REQUIRED SIX MORAL commandments listed in the TEN Commandments to ADD good works of KINDNESS to help those in need. Minister to those who need lifting up, and encourage those who need exhorting. Do things like pray for those in need of healing, help the poor, care for the widows who are widows indeed, and so forth. The Apostle Paul teaches us that SAME thing that Jesus teaches.
Romans 13:9,10.
“For this, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not kill, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, You shall not covet; and if there be ANY OTHER commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, You shall LOVE your neighbor as yourself. 10. Love works no ill to his neighbour: therefore LOVE is the FULFILLING of the law.”
James 2:8.
“IF you fulfil the royal law according to the Scripture, You shall LOVE your neighbor as yourself, you do well:”
Like the Apostle Paul, the Apostle James teaches us to also add good works of KINDNESS to help the poor if we have the resource to do so. James teaches us that pure religion is not defiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction. AND ALSO we are to keep ourselves without the spot of sin from following the world, as in, OBEY all the MORAL laws of God listed in the TEN Commandments. And ALL the moral laws in the TEN Commandments are taught in the New Testament under the New Covenant. Plus there are more moral laws found in the New Testament that are not in the TEN Commandments. For example, under the New Covenant no drunkard shall enter into the kingdom of God. And also, no LIAR will enter into the city of God. So there are more moral laws under the New Covenant written in the New Testament that are not in the TEN Commandments. So I teach my readers to walk in LOVE and stay in the New Testament to know what God requires to receive eternal life in the world to come. Everything you need to know to be saved and to receive eternal life in the world to come is found ONLY in the New Testament!
Galatians 5:14.
“For all the law is FULFILLED in ONE word, even in this; You shall LOVE your neighbor as yourself.”
How can the TRUE gospel of Jesus Christ be any PLAINER? Jesus IS our TRUE Sabbath REST for HOLINESS. And we obey the TWO commandments of Jesus because we LOVE him. The Apostle Peter teaches us in Acts 15:15 that NEITHER the Apostles of Jesus NOR their fathers before them were able to BEAR the Law of Moses. But the TWO commandments under the New Covenant are NOT grievous to bear. Jesus was sent only to the Jews who could NOT bear the Old Covenant and he said, come unto ME and I will give you REST. Let us read that passage of Scripture.
Matthew 11:28-30.
“Come unto me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you REST. 29. Take my YOKE upon you, and learn of ME; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find REST unto your souls. 30. For MY YOKE is EASY, and my burden is LIGHT.”
Jesus is comparing the HEAVY YOKE of BONDAGE of the Old Covenant to his LIGHT yoke of the New Covenant. If you were a Jew think about what a deal that would be. No more animal sacrifices. No more traveling to Jerusalem every year for the feast days. No more dietary laws. Jesus is saying, lay that heavy burdensome yoke of the Old Covenant down and take the LIGHT yoke of the New Covenant that I am about to establish in my shed blood. The yoke of Jesus is EASY to bear. And by taking off the yoke of bondage of the Old Covenant you will find REST to your soul IN Jesus. Now SDA Christians, as well as all seventh day of the week Sabbath-keeping Christians, quote 1 John 5:3 to PERSUADE weak Christians that the commandments under the Old Covenant written in the Old Testament are not GRIEVOUS. But they are LYING to you. They CONTRADICT the words of the Apostle Peter in Acts 15:10.
Acts 15:10.
“Now, therefore, why TEMPT you God, to put a YOKE upon the neck of the disciples, which NEITHER our fathers NOR WE were able to bear?”
Now compare the YOKE of BONDAGE of the Old Covenant to the TWO commandments under the New Covenant written in the New Testament.
1 John 5:3.
“For this is the LOVE of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are NOT GRIEVOUS.”
And that is because the LOVE of God gave us a New Covenant and under His New Covenant His NEW commandment is NOT GRIEVOUS.
2 John 1:5.
“And now I beseech you, lady, not as though I wrote a NEW commandment unto you, but that which we had from the beginning, that we LOVE one another.”
Even before the church actually began, Jesus taught from the very beginning for us to LOVE on another, and the Apostle Paul says that LOVE is the END of the commandment. WHAT commandment? Let the Scriptures speak for themselves.
1 Timothy 1:4-7.
“Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do. 5. Now the END of the commandment is LOVE out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned: (In other words, the love of those who are SAVED is the END of the commandment to keep the Old Covenant written in the Old Testament) 6. From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling; 7. Desiring to be teachers of the LAW; understanding NEITHER what they say, NOR whereof they affirm.”
Affirm means to dogmatically and emphatically teach as a MUST. Now, I can hear some of the SDA Christians defending themselves to say, WE do NOT teach Christians to keep the Law of Moses, but rather, WE only teach Christians to keep the TEN Commandments. But again, that is another deception of the SDA Church which places much emphasis to IMPOSE on their followers to keep the dietary laws written in the Old Testament which are also SHADOWS that Jesus NAILED to the cross. And the Apostle Paul teaches us that those who teach Christians to abstain for meat are teaching doctrines of devils, according to 1 Timothy 4:1-6.
1 Timothy 4:1-6.
“Now the Spirit speaks expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2. Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 3. Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the TRUTH. 4. For every creature of God is good, and NOTHING to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: 5. For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. 6. IF you put the brethren in remembrance of these things, you shall be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, where unto you have attained.”
Now, I fully realize that simply have a church service on a Saturday, the seventh day of the week, is NOT grievous. And RESTING on the seventh day of the week is not grievous either. So I understand the SDA Church argument for their followers to keep the weekly Sabbath DAY as not being AGAINST us. And, therefore, they wrongly conclude that the weekly Sabbath DAYS were not nailed to the cross because they cannot UNDERSTAND HOW the weekly Sabbath DAY is AGAINST us. And we will cover that SDA argument in part 3 called Dd-39. How can the Sabbath DAY be AGAINST us?
