Part 2 In part 1 of this series of studies we covered the first 20 arguments for why seventh day of the week Sabbath-keeping Christians sincerely believe are “Scriptural” reasons for why Christians MUST keep the weekly Sabbath DAY as a DAY of rest lest a Christian SINS. And we learned that those 20 arguments were actually only 8 different arguments and I was being gracious to give them the benefit of the doubt. To me, out of those 20 points in part 1 there were five different arguments. And to me, that is deceptive teaching on the part of the Sabbath-keeping article. And you will find the same thing in the rest of the 40 so-called “different” arguments. For you see, arguments #21-#26 are just ONE argument. So let us begin part 2 of the series of studies on the 60 arguments for the Sabbath by reading argument #21-#26 first and then I will explain why they do NOT prove that the keeping of the weekly Sabbath DAY, as a DAY of REST, is binding on Christians who are under the New Covenant written in the New Testament. ARGUMENT FOR THE SABBATH #21.
Exodus 34:21 God himself forbade WORK on the SEVENTH DAY Sabbath even in the most hurrying times.
ARGUMENT FOR THE SABBATH #22.
Ezekiel 20:12,13 God DESTROYED the Israelites in the wilderness because they profaned the Sabbath.
ARGUMENT FOR THE SABBATH #23.
Ezekiel 20:20 The Sabbath is a SIGN of knowing and worshiping the true God alone separating God's people for the heathens who worshiped false gods and idols.
ARGUMENT FOR THE SABBATH 24.
Jeremiah 17:24,25 God promised the Jews that Israel would stand forever if they keep the Sabbath day.
ARGUMENT FOR THE SABBATH #25.
Nehemiah 13:18 God punished his people Israel for breaking the Sabbath by bringing them under the captivity of the Babylonians.
ARGUMENT FOR THE SABBATH #26.
Jeremiah 17:27 God destroyed the Holy city of Jerusalem because of Israel's disobedience to keep the Sabbath day.
Again, as you can clearly see, arguments #21- #26 are all the same argument and should be counted as jut ONE argument and NOT six different arguments to make it SEEM as if there are 60 different argument fo keeping the seventh DAY of the WEEK as being Holy by RESTING on a DAY of the week. Also, all five of these points are about the children of Israel being punished for THEIR not keeping the weekly Sabbath day that was given ONLY to the children of Israel for THEM to keep throughout THEIR generations as a SIGN for a PERPETUAL COVENANT and NOT for a perpetual COMMANDMENT. Also, there is an untranslated Aleph Tav Messiah Jesus prophecy in each of these passages of Scripture. So by the children of Israel not keeping the weekly Sabbath DAY is a SHADOW of them rejecting God’s TRUE REST in Jesus for holiness when their Aleph Tav Messiah Jesus came in the future. Let us go ahead and read Ezekiel 20:12,13,20 so that you can see the placement of the untranslated Aleph and Tav which is the FIRST and the LAST letters of the Hebrew alphabet. Jesus said that he is the FIRST and the LAST and that the Scriptures testify of him. So I translated the Aleph and Tav as Aleph Tav Messiah Jesus. Please read the three part study called Dd-16. THE SABBATH AND THE ALEPH TAV! Part 1, Dd-17. The Commandment and the Aleph Tav! Pt 2, and Dd-18. The Commandments and the Aleph Tav! Pt 3 But for now, let us read Ezekiel 20:12,13,20,21 teaching us that ALL of Yahweh's Sabbath's including the yearly feast day Sabbaths are a SIGN between God and the children of Israel to know or to perceive that it is Yahweh who SANCTIFIES them. And the ONLY way to be SANCTIFIED to be made holy now, after the cross, is by FAITH IN Jesus to enter into the New PERPETUAL COVENANT. Please read Ezekiel 20:12,13,20,21.
“Moreover, also I gave them (Aleph Tav Messiah Jesus) My Sabbaths, to be a SIGN between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that SANCTIFY them. (And HOW are people SANCTIFIED under the New PERPETUAL COVENANT established in the shed blood of Jesus? Are Christians made HOLY by RESTING on the seventh DAY of the WEEK? Or are Christians made holy by RESTING IN Jesus for our holiness and righteousness. Can you not see that the Old Testament is filled with PROPHECY of Jesus? Do you not understand that no man is JUSTIFIED by the LAW? The keeping of the weekly Sabbath DAY was a SCHOOLMASTER to lead the children of Israel to Aleph Tav Messiah Jesus) 13. But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they despised my judgments, which if a man do, (Aleph Tav Messiah Jesus) he shall even live in them; and my sabbaths they greatly polluted: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness, to consume them... ...20. And hallow My sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that you may know that I am the LORD your God. 21. Notwithstanding the children rebelled against me: they walked not in my statutes, neither kept my judgments to do them, which if a man do, (Aleph Tav Messiah Jesus) he shall even live in them; they polluted (Aleph Tav Messiah Jesus) My sabbaths: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness.”
The animal sacrifices in the Law of Moses were SHADOWS pointing to the TRUE SACRIFICE of Jesus. And thus, the keeping of animal sacrifices is NOT binding on Christians under the New Covenant written in the New Testament. The SIGN of Jonah in the belly of the whale for three days and three nights was a SHADOW of Jesus being in the heart of the earth for three days and three nights. And the FOURTH commandment is the only one of the TEN Commandments that was given as a SIGN. And the SIGN of the resting on a DAY of the WEEK is a SHADOW pointing to our TRUE REST in Jesus for holiness. Please read the study Dd-13. Is JESUS OUR TRUE SABBATH REST? But again, for now, let us continue with arguments #27-#29 because they are all also one and the SAME argument and should be counted as just one argument.
ARGUMENT FOR THE SABBATH #27.
Isaiah 56:6,7 God has promised special blessing to the Gentiles if they keep the Sabbath.

Isaiah 56 Is a prophecy of the Christian or church age.
ARGUMENT FOR THE SABBATH #29.
Isaiah 56:2 God has promise to bless all who keep the Sabbath.
Let us read Isaiah 56:1-8 in the LITERAL word for word translation. And as you read this passage of Scripture, it is my prayer that you read it sincerely seeking the truth of the WHOLE word of God. Yes, this passage of Scripture is indeed a prophecy of the church AGE. So then, what is taking place in this present church AGE? Basically, we have THREE groups of people. We have NON believers who are not saved. We have the JEWS who are keeping the Sabbath day holy but they also are not saved. And we have the CHURCH who is called by God to be servants TO both NON believers AND TO the Jews who are KEEPING the Sabbath day and holding fast to the OLD covenant that can NOT save anyone. Here is Isaiah 56:1-8 from the LITERAL word for word translation.
“Thus he says Yahweh keep you! Judgment AND do you! Righteousness THAT near salvation of me to to come of and righteousness of me to to be revealed of (The word judgment means verdict, And Yahweh verdict for salvation is Jesus, the ONLY NAME given among men whereby we MUST be saved. So them here we can see that Yahweh is speaking His JUDGMENT or His VERDICT for salvation and righteousness to be IN Jesus who is soon to be REVEALED) 2. Happy mortal (Or happy is the person) he is doing THIS (Speaking to the children of Israel to KEEP judgment meaning to keep Yahweh’s salvation and righteousness that is being prophesied to come and be revealed soon in Jesus who world be given to men as God’ NEW COVENANT) AND (Happy is the) son of human he is holding fast in her (Speaking of WHOSOEVER BELIEVES in Jesus to enter God’s New PERPETUAL Covenant established in the blood of Jesus beginning with preaching of the gospel to the Jews FIRST) one keeping Sabbath from (Or NOT) to profane of him AND one keeping HAND of him from to do any evil. (In prophecy, Jesus is called the HAND of Yahweh and the ARM of Yahweh. In the NEW Testament under the NEW covenant, we as Christians are clearly and plainly taught in simplicity to depart from EVIL. And, therefore, we must obey all the MORAL commandments of God. But never are we clearly and plainly taught in SIMPLICITY with absolutely NO interpretation needed to KEEP the Sabbath day as a DAY of REST. In fact, Paul teaches us just the OPPOSITE by saying that we are NOT to esteem ANY day above another day in Romans 14:5. And Paul was in fear for those desiring to be under the LAW keeping DAYS in Galatians 4:10-31) 3. And must not be he is saying son of foreigner the he is obligated to Yahweh to to say of to separate he shall separate me Yahweh from people of him and must not be he is saying the eunuch behold! I dry tree 4. That thus he says Yahweh to EUNUCHS who they are keeping (Aleph Tav Messiah Jesus) Sabbaths of Me and they choose in which I delight (A prophecy of Jesus in whom Yahweh delights) and ones holding fast in covenant of Me. 5. And I give to THEM in house of me and walls of me hand and name good FROM sons and FROM daughters name of EON I shall give to him which NOT he shall be CUT OFF. 6. And sons of the foreigner the ones obligated to Yahweh to to minister of him and to to love (Aleph Tav Messiah Jesus) name of Yahweh to to become of him TO SERVANTS every one KEEPING Sabbath from to profane of him and ones holding fast in covenant of me (Keep in mind that the keeping Sabbath does not ALWAYS mean keeping the WEEKLY Sabbath DAY. For you see, the weekly Sabbath DAY is a SHADOW pointing to the TRUE Seventh 1000 year long DAY of Yahweh’s Sabbath REST in the world to come) 7. And I will bring THEM TO mountain of holiness of Me (In prophecy, a mountain is a Kingdom and the kingdom of HOLINESS is the kingdom of God’s Son during the 1000 year reign of Jesus as the Lord OF the SABBATH of Yahweh) and I make rejoice THEM in house of prayer of Me ascent offerings of them and sacrifices of them for acceptance on altar of Me THAT (Or SO THAT) house of Me house of prayer shall be he shall be called for all the peoples (This means that in the eyes of God those who receive God's so great a salvation will be ONE people no more to be called TWO people, the Jew and the Gentiles. And the REMNANT of Israel will be made to STOP keeping the Old Covenant or they will be cut off from the people of God, according to Hoses 2:11, Isaiah 1:13,14, Amos 5:21,22 and other verses of Scripture) 8. Averment of Yahweh one convening ones being expelled of ISRAEL further shall I convene on him to ones being convened of him.”
Now every translation of the Bible that I am aware of has in verse 6 either a comma, a semi colon or a colon between “SERVANT” and “EVERY ONE” which shows us that the translators see SOMETHING here that needs to be separated, but they are not sure why. The only other translation that I myself have found, which shows WHY this separation is there, is the Wycliffe translation. The Wycliffe translation gives a more literal translation first and then follows it up with a translation in parenthesis to bring more clarity.
Isaiah 56:6 from the Wycliffe translation.
“And I shall bring in to bless the sons of a comeling, that cleave fast to the Lord, that they worship him, and love his (Aleph Tav Messiah Jesus) name, that they be to him into servants; (In other words, those who love Jesus enter into be servants who follow and obey the commandments of Jesus under the New Covenant written in the New Testament) (to) each man keeping the Sabbath, that he defile it not, and holding (fast to) My bond of peace; (Or each person holding fast to Yahweh’s REST in Jesus to have the right to enter into the TRUE Seventh 1000 year long Sabbath day of Yahweh REST in the world to come) [Then the Wycliffe translation always states the same thing again in italics, so the following italics is not mine, but the Wycliffe translation] (And also to the sons and daughters of the newcomers, or of the foreigners, who cleave firmly to the Lord, so that they worship him, and love his name, and so that they be his servants; to each person keeping the Sabbath, so that they do not defile it, and holding firm to my covenant;)”
So BOTH the LITERAL translation and the Wycliffe translation AGREE with the teaching of the NEW Testament where the CHURCH is called to minister to the Jews first. Then ones BELIEVE are KEEPING the Sabbath TRUE meaning of why the keeping of the weekly Sabbath DAY was given in the first place. Now these verses do NOT mean that we as Christians are to teach the Jews to KEEP the WEEKLY Sabbath DAY as a DAY of rest. But rather, we as Christians are servants or ministers TO the Jew and the Gentiles to teach them about Jesus and the REST for HOLINESS SO THAT they do NOT DENY or they do NOT defile the TRUE Sabbath REST. Remember that this passage of Scripture is speaking of the 1000 year reign of Jesus. The gospel was preached to the Jews FIRST, but most of the Jews “DEFILED” their true REST in Jesus that was offered to them. So God turned to the Gentiles to provoke Israel to jealousy by many Gentiles ACCEPTING God's TRUE Sabbath REST in His SON Jesus. And then, at the second coming of Jesus God will turn AGAIN to a remnant of His people Israel and offer His so great a salvation IN Jesus one final time. So NO! Arguments #27-#29 do NOT prove that Christians must, without fail, keep the Sabbath day in order to be saved. Let us move on to arguments number 30 and 31 because they are ONE argument.
ARGUMENT FOR THE SABBATH #30.
Isaiah 58:13 God requires that his people call the Sabbath day “HONORABLE”. Therefore, beware you Christians who DISHONOR the Sabbath day by calling it the OLD JEWISH Sabbath or “a yoke of BONDAGE”, or any other dishonorable name.
ARGUMENT FOR THE SABBATH #31.
Isaiah 58:12,13 After the Holy Sabbath has been trodden down “it is to be restored” in the last days.
First of all, as we have already seen from the Bible ITSELF that Sabbath day was given to the children of Israel ONLY for them to keep throughout their generations as a SIGN for them to discern to REST in Jesus for holiness to enter into the new PERPETUAL COVENANT. And therefore, the keeping of the weekly Sabbath DAY is the OLD Jewish Sabbath. And thus, calling the Sabbath day a Jewish Sabbath is indeed Biblical. Secondly, the Bible ITSELF also calls the KEEPING of the Law of Moses a YOKE of BONDAGE, according to Galatians 5:1-4, and Acts 15:10.
Please read Galatians 5:1-14.
“Stand fast, therefore, in the LIBERTY wherewith Christ has made us FREE, and be NOT entangled again with the YOKE of BONDAGE. (The YOKE of BONDAGE is the trying to KEEP all the Law of God given to Moses to give ONLY to Israel. In Acts 15:10 Peter rebukes those teaching Christians to keep the Law of Moses saying, “Why TEMPT you God to put a YOKE upon the disciples that neither or fathers nor WE were able to BEAR?” So then, calling the keeping the weekly Sabbath a YOKE of BONDAGE is SOUND Biblical teaching because God gave the TEN Commandments AND the Law of Moses at the same time. You can NOT separate the Law of Moses away from the FOURTH commandment. For you see, the fourth commandment CONTAINS ORDINANCES written in the Law of Moses. And Jesus ABOLISHED those ORDINANCES contained in the fourth commandment. So it is in error to say that Jesus abolished the actual fourth commandment itself completely. No! That is not true! What Jesus abolished was the Old Covenant WAY of keeping the fourth commandment which was RESTING for 24 hours from sunset to sunset on the seventh DAY of the WEEK which was a SHADOW pointing to ENTER into REST in Jesus for HOLINESS so that you can enter into the TRUE 1000 year long Sabbath DAY to REST from the power of the second death, which is the lake of fire. So then, NOW, under the New Covenant we KEEP the fourth commandment by our FAITH in Jesus for Holiness and righteousness. And thus, when Yahweh says keep MY Sabbath He is saying keep Jesus, My Holiness for salvation as my bond of PEACE. The keeping of the DAY was showing God that the children of Israel were in covenant with God. And now, under the NEW Covenant, we who BELIEVE show God by FAITH in Jesus that we are in the NEW Covenant relationship with God. Do you not understand the God cut of EVERY Jews form His Olive tree to conclude all of the children of Israel to be under sin? And the ONLY WAY for the children of Israel to be grafted back into God’s Olive tree is for them to have FAITH in Jesus to enter into REST in God’s NEW COVENANT. The first covenant was made OLD by Almighty God Himself, according to Hebrews 8:13 and the Old Covenant completely vanished away in 70 AD when the Jewish Temple was destroyed) 2. Behold, I Paul say unto you, that IF you be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. 3. For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the WHOLE law. 4. Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; you are fallen from grace. 5. For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. 6. For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision avails any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which works by love. (Just as circumcision itself has NOT been done away with or CHANGED, but has been FULFILLED in Jesus becoming our circumcision to circumcise our HEART spiritually. And thus, God no longer requires circumcision of the FLESH. So also has Jesus become our Sabbath or our REST and calls us to take upon us HIS YOKE, which is light and not a bondage that is a burden like the OLD Covenant. Again, the Law of Moses was given ONLY to Israel which none of the fathers of Israel were NOR the very Apostle of Jesus were able to BEAR. Please read Matthew 11:28-30 “Come unto me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you REST. 29. Take MY yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find REST unto your souls. 30. For MY yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” The keeping of the Sabbath DAY of REST was a type foreshadowing the REST that is given to us as Christians being in Jesus taking upon our self HIS yoke, which is LIGHT and not a burden like the Law of Moses in the Old Covenant that none of the fathers of Israel were able to bear. Please read Acts 15:10 again, “Now therefore why TEMPT you God, to put a YOKE upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?” So again, it is NOT dishonoring God to say that the keeping of DAYS is a YOKE or bondage) 7. You did run well; who did HINDER you that you should NOT obey the TRUTH? 8. This persuasion comes NOT of him that calls you. (Or do NOT listen to those who are HINDERING your liberty in Jesus by trying to place a YOKE of BONDAGE around your neck to keep the weekly Sabbath day. For if you do keep that which Jesus ABOLISHED then you are NOT obeying the TRUTH of the gospel. Those who are trying to persuade you to keep the weekly Sabbath day as the Jews are NOT doing so because they are being told by God to do this. This PERSUASION to keep DAYS of REST does NOT come from Almighty God) 9. A little leaven leavens the whole lump. (Most every Sabbath keeping churches start off by PERSUADING Christians to keep the Sabbath day saying after all it is one of the TEN Commandments and we all know that God wants us to keep His COMMANDMENTS. But then, they do NOT STOP there. Eventually, the keeping of the Sabbath becomes MANDATORY as a matter of SALVATION. But it does not stop there either. And eventually, Sabbath keeping churches start imposing MORE and MORE of the OLD Testament CEREMONIAL LAWS upon their followers. So just a LITTLE leaven or a little FALSE teaching leavens to whole lump) 10. I have confidence in YOU (My readers and seekers of the truth that) through the Lord, that YOU (Who are reading this study in God's word that YOU dear reader and seeker of the TRUTH) will be none otherwise minded: (In other words, if you are a Sabbath keeper you will see the TRUTH and come out from under their false teaching compelling you to keep the Sabbath day. And if you are wondering if they are teaching the truth you will KNOW that they are NOT teaching the truth of the WHOLE word of God) but he that troubles you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be. (Or the Sabbath keeping church will have to answer to God for what they are teaching) 11. And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offense of the cross ceased. (Paul is saying here that if he is teaching Christians to KEEP the Law of Moses, speaking of the ORDINANCES contained IN the CEREMONIAL laws under the OLD covenant that Jesus abolished, then WHY is he being PERSECUTED IF SO BE that he is teaching what the Jew themselves are teaching? Paul is saying make no mistake dear children of God, I am NOT teaching any Christian to be circumcised or to keep ANY of the ceremonial laws. But rather, I am called by God to MINISTER to the Jews first the TRUE gospel of Jesus Christ. And those who keep the Sabbath and all the Law of Moses are NOT obeying the TRUTH of the gospel) 12. I would they were even cut off which trouble you. (Paul is saying that it would be better if the Judaizing Christians be CUT OFF than for them to continue subverting weak Christians to also fall from grace and their faith in Jesus is in VAIN as well. In other words, by trying to keep both covenants, the seventh DAY of the WEEK Sabbath-keeping Christians are showing God that they do not TRULY trust in God’s NEW COVENANT. their FAITH is WEAK in the New Covenant because they feel that they MUST keep the Old Covenant in order to PLEASE God. But, in TRUTH, they are actually DISPLEASING God by trying to keep what Jesus ABOLISHED on the cross, according to Ephesians 2:8-15 and Colossians 2:1-17,20-22) 13. For, (Or because) brethren, YOU have been called unto LIBERTY; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. (In other words, hold fast to your LIBERTY in Jesus and keep on MINISTERING to the seventh day of the week Sabbath-keeping Christians who are compelling Christians to live as the Jews to keep the Law of Moses) 14. For ALL the law is fulfilled in ONE word, even IN THIS; You shall LOVE your neighbor as yourself.”
So then, the short answer to this argument #30 is a NO! Christians are NOT dishonoring the Sabbath by saying that the KEEPING of the Sabbath is a YOKE of BONDAGE and that the CEREMONIAL commandment of God was given to ISRAEL as a SCHOOLMASTER pointing them to the TRUE Sabbath REST, which we as Christians are indeed KEEPING being believers ON JESUS. And it is ONLY by faith IN Jesus that we will be granted our SEVENTH 1000 year day of REST, which we will enjoy during the 1000 year reign of Jesus. And for the longer in-depth answer of the TRUE sound Biblical meaning of Isaiah 58:13 please read the study Dd-54. WHAT DOES ISAIAH 58:13 TRULY MEAN? But for now, here is a brief explanation of Isaiah 58:13 in the LIGHT of the whole word of Almighty God. God is going to turn a second time at the coming of Jesus to TEACH a remnant of Israel about the TRUE gospel of Jesus Christ. And it will be DURING that SABBATH of the 1000 year reign of Jesus that Yahweh will say through Jesus the words in Isaiah 58:13. So read Isaiah 58:12-14 with the understanding of the Sabbath as being the yet FUTURE Seventh 1000 year long Sabbath day in the world to come.
Isaiah 58:12-14.
“And they that SHALL BE of you SHALL build the old waste places: (So then, the CONTEXT is speaking of the 1000 year reign of Jesus in the world to come) you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in. (Or this is what you will be called) 13. IF you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on My holy day; (Speaking of Yahweh’s Sabbath REST during the word to come. This verse has nothing to do with keeping the WEEKLY Sabbath DAY as a DAY of rest) and call the Sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honorable; and shall honor him, (Speaking of honoring Jesus, the Holy One of Israel during the Seventh 1000 year long Sabbath of Yahweh in the world to come) not doing your own ways, (Under the Old Covenant) nor finding your own pleasure, (Of boasting in your keeping the Law of Moses and pointing the finger, according to the CONTEXT in Isaiah 58:9. Let us go ahead and read verse 9, “Then shall you call, and the LORD shall answer; you shall cry, and he shall say, Here I am. IF you take away from the midst of you the YOKE, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;” It is VAIN speaking to teach people to KEEP what Jesus ABOLISHED and nailed to the cross, according to Ephesians 2:8-15 and Colossians 2:14-17) nor speaking your own words: (Again, speaking your own ways of keeping the LETTER of the law under the Old Covenant) 14. THEN shall you delight yourself in the LORD; and I will cause you to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father: for the mouth of the LORD has spoken it.”
Keep in mind that those in the MORTAL bodies during the Millennial reign of Jesus as the Lord of the SABBATH will be taught the TRUE gospel of Jesus Christ. And ONLY those of us who are faithful to obey the TRUE gospel of Jesus Christ in this present world will RIDE upon the HIGH PLACES of the earth in the world to come. For you see, we will be in the city of God in the AIR having already RECEIVED our INHERITANCE of eternal life which IS the HERITAGE of Jacob. Let us move on to argument number 32.
ARGUMENT FOR THE SABBATH #32.
ALL the holy prophets KEPT the Sabbath day.
First of all, it was ONLY the prophets AFTER the children of Israel were given the Old Covenant at Mount Horeb. But those UNDER the Old covenant who kept the Sabbath day does NOT prove that Christians under the NEW COVENANT must keep the weekly Sabbath DAY as a DAY of rest. So let us move on to argument number 33.
ARGUMENT FOR THE SABBATH #33.
Luke 4:16 and John 15:10 Jesus KEPT the Sabbath day. Thus Jesus observed the SEVENTH CREATION DAY of REST following his Father's EXAMPLE to work six days and REST on the SEVENTH DAY. So then shall not we as Christian be safe in teaching that we are to follow the example set by BOTH Almighty God the Father AND his SON Jesus to KEEP the Sabbath, the SEVENTH DAY of REST?
No! The answer is the same as in argument #31. Anyone under the OLD Covenant obviously kept the resting on the seven DAY of the WEEK because they were UNDER the OLD Covenant. But WE are under God’s NEW Covenant that is NOT the SAME as the Old Covenant, according to Jeremiah 31:31,32 and Hebrews 8:13.
Jeremiah 31:31-34.
“Behold, the days come, says the LORD, that I will make a NEW COVENANT with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: 32. NOT ACCORDING to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which (Aleph Tav Messiah Jesus) my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: 33. But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, said the LORD, I will put (Aleph Tav Messiah Jesus) my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. 34. And they shall teach no more every man (Aleph Tav Messiah Jesus) his neighbor, and every man (Aleph Tav Messiah Jesus) his brother, saying, Know (Aleph Tav Messiah Jesus) the LORD: (The NEW NAME given to Jesus AFTER the cross is Yah and he shall be called Yahweh our RIGHTEOUSNESS in the world to come. Jesus will rule FOR Yahweh, in the NAME OF Yahweh as the Lord of the SABBATH of Yahweh during the world to come for 1000 years) for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, says the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”
So No! The keeping of the weekly Sabbath DAY by those UNDER the Old Covenant does NOT prove that Christians under the New Covenant must keep the weekly Sabbath DAY as an OBLIGATORY DAY of rest as the Sabbath-keeping Christians dogmatically demand lest a Christian SINS. So to me, it is NOT SAFE to teach false doctrine. In fact, to me, seventh DAY Sabbath-keeping Christians are actually DISPLEASING God for keeping the LETTER of the law contained in ORDINANCES which Jesus ABOLISHED on the cross, according to Ephesians 2:8-15 and Colossians 2:13-17,20-22. Let us move on to argument numbers 33 through 36.
ARGUMENT FOR THE SABBATH #33.
The SEVENTH DAY is the “Lord's DAY”! See Revelation 1:10, Mark 2:28, Isaiah 58:13, and Exodus 20:10.
ARGUMENT FOR THE SABBATH #34.
Mark 2:28 Jesus is the “Lord” of the Sabbath day, which is to say as being “Lord” of the Sabbath day that Jesus loved, cherished and protected the Sabbath day as the man who is “lord” of his wife who he is to love, cherish and protect according to 1 Peter 3:6.
ARGUMENT FOR THE SABBATH #36.
Mark 2:23-28 Jesus defended and vindicated the Sabbath day as a merciful institution designed by Almighty God himself for man's GOOD.
First of all, ONLY SOME seventh day of the week Sabbath-keeping Christians twist the Scripture to try and force them to mean that Jesus was resurrected on a Saturday, which would be the SEVENTH day of the week. And they do that to try and convince weak Christians that the Lord’s Day is the seventh day of the week and not the FIRST day of the week. And IF they can convince Christians that the Lord’s Day is the seventh day of the week then that might have a chance to persuade them that the early church kept the weekly Sabbath day as a day of rest on Saturday and not on Sunday. And they go to great lengths to try and prove that Jesus was raised from the dead on the SABBATH day, the SEVENTH day of the week and NOT the FIRST day of the week. However, the FACT that Jesus was resurrected on the FIRST day of the week is taught in such clarity in the Bible that only the ALREADY DECEIVED could possibly be deceived yet again even further to believe the false teaching that Jesus was raised from the dead on the SEVENTH day of the week. Please read the studies Dd-27. WAS JESUS RESURRECTED ON SUNDAY? and Dd-26. Is the SABBATH DAY THE LORD'S DAY? Also, please read the quotes from the early church writers to see that the early church taught AGAINST keeping the Sabbath as the Jews. Dd-20 Did The Early Church KEEP the Sabbath day? Again, the Sabbath that was made for man is speaking of the SIGN of the Sabbath being made for man and not the keeping of the weekly Sabbath DAY as a 24 hour DAY of REST as an eternal COMMANDMENT. But rather, the keeping of the DAY of rest was given ONLY to the children of Israel AFTER God delivered them from bondage in Egypt as SIGN for the PERPETUAL COVENANT. In other words, the keeping of the weekly Sabbath DAY was a SHADOW or a SIGN pointing to the the TRUE Seventh 1000 year long Sabbath day of Yahweh’s Sabbath rest during the world to come. And during that TRUE Seventh day Jesus will be the Lord OF the Sabbath. And Acts 2:13 teaches us the God MADE Jesus to come both Lord and Christ which means that Jesus became Lord of the Sabbath after the cross. And thus, when Jesus said that he is the Lord of the Sabbath he indeed his words to mean the true seventh 1000 year long day of Yahweh’s Sabbath rest in the world to come. So then, Mark 2:27,28 has nothing to do with Christians keeping the weekly Sabbath DAY as a 24 hour DAY of rest. Let us move on to argument numbers 37 and 38.
ARGUMENT FOR THE SABBATH #37.
Matthew 12:1-13 So then rather than ABOLISHING the Sabbath day Jesus himself taught us HOW to correctly observe the SEVENTH DAY of REST.
ARGUMENT FOR THE SABBATH #38.
Matthew 12:12 Jesus taught his disciples to NOT do anything on the Sabbath day that was NOT “LAWFUL” to do.
First of all, Jesus did NOT abolish the FOURTH commandment ITSELF. But rather, Jesus abolished the ORDINANCES contained IN the fourth commandment. The ordinances were the “instruction” on HOW to KEEP the fourth commandment under the Old Covenant. So then, what Jesus ABOLISHED and NAILED to the cross was the OLD WAY of keeping the weekly Sabbath as being a DAY of REST. And the NEW WAY of keeping the Sabbath commandment is to keep the SPIRIT of the fourth commandment and NOT the OLDNESS of the LETTER of the fourth commandment. And thus, we ARE KEEPING the fourth commandment BY our FAITH RESTING IN Jesus for our holiness and righteousness. For you see, according to Romans 10:4, Jesus is the END of the law for RIGHTEOUSNESS. Let us move on to argument number 39.
ARGUMENT FOR THE SABBATH #39.
Matthew 24:20 Jesus taught his disciple to prayerfully regard the Sabbath day for forty years after his resurrection.
The Seventh Day Adventist Church teaches that most of Matthew 24 was fulfilled in 70 AD which would have been around forty years after the resurrection of Jesus in 30 AD or 31 AD. And Jesus said PRAY that your flight NOT be on the Sabbath day. And thus, they “interpret” this verse in Matthew 24:20 to mean that Christians kept the weekly Sabbath day at LEAST to the year 70 AD. And therefore, to THEM, the keeping of the weekly Sabbath DAY as a DAY of REST is still binding on Christians. But there are other interpretations of Matthew 24:20. Please read the study Dd-24. Matthew 24:20 FUTURE Sabbath KEEPING! So this verse does NOT prove that Christians must keep the weekly Sabbath DAY as a DAY of REST lest they sin. For you see, the Sabbath-keeping “interpretation” CONTRADICTS other very CLEAR verses of Scripture in the New Testament that teach AGAINST the keeping of DAYS as days of OBLIGATION lest a Christian SINS. Let us move on to argument number 40.
ARGUMENT FOR THE SABBATH #40.
Luke 23:56 The pious woman who was with Jesus carefully KEPT the Sabbath day AFTER the death and resurrection of Jesus.
The Sabbath day here in Luke 23:56 is the HIGH Sabbath day which was on THURSDAY. Jesus died on a Wednesday just before sunset. And the day BEFORE the HIGH Sabbath day is called the day of preparations. So then the day that they rested was on Thursday, the HIGH Sabbath day, and NOT the weekly Sabbath day, according to John 19:31. And thus, this was BEFORE the resurrection of Jesus.
John 19:31.
“The Jews, therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that Sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.”
Let us move on to arguments #41-#49 which is all the SAME argument. And this ONE argument is based solely on the WORD “Sabbath” being found in the New Testament. The word Sabbath is found 60 times in the New Testament. But just because the WORD “Sabbath” is found 60 times in the New Testament does NOT prove that the New Testament teaches us to keep the weekly Sabbath DAY as a DAY of REST lest we sin. As you read through arguments #41-#49 please notice that the weekly Sabbath day is STILL CALLED the Sabbath. Well, the Jews STILL CALL the seventh day of the week the Sabbath today but that does NOT prove that Christians must keep the weekly Sabbath DAY under the New Covenant written in the New Testament.
ARGUMENT FOR THE SABBATH #41.
Acts 13:14. Thirty years AFTER the cross the Holy Spirit HIMSELF EXPRESSLY calls it the SABBATH DAY.
ARGUMENT FOR THE SABBATH #42.
Acts 13:27 The Apostle Paul who was sent to the GENTILES calls it the “SABBATH DAY” in 45 AD. So then, are we to say that the great Apostle Paul did NOT know what he taught us and believe MODERN teachers of today that teach us that the Sabbath day was fulfilled, ceased, or was abolished by Jesus at the CROSS are better and know more than the Apostle Paul?
ARGUMENT FOR THE SABBATH #43.
Acts 13:44 Luke the famous historian writer of the New Testament calls it the “Sabbath day” in 62 AD.
ARGUMENT FOR THE SABBATH #44.
Acts 13:42 The GENTILE converts call it the “Sabbath day”.
ARGUMENT FOR THE SABBATH #45.
Acts 15:21 The the great Apostle James in the first church council that took place in 49 AD in the presence of many believers calls it the “Sabbath”.
ARGUMENT FOR THE SABBATH #46.
Acts 16:13 It was customary for Christian believers to hold prayer meetings on the SABBATH DAY.
ARGUMENT FOR THE SABBATH #47.
Acts 17:2,3 The great Apostle Paul himself read the Scriptures in public meetings on the SABBATH DAY.
ARGUMENT FOR THE SABBATH #48.
Acts 17:2,3 It was the custom of the disciples to preach the gospel on the “Sabbath day”.
ARGUMENT FOR THE SABBATH #49.
The book of Acts ALONE gives us the record of EIGHTY FOUR meetings on the “Sabbath day”. See Acts 13:14,44, 16:13, 17:2, 18:4,11.
Again, the WORD “Sabbath” is found 60 times in the New Testament. And 50 of those 60 times the word “Sabbath” is found in the four gospels before the cross. And we already covered the argument that those UNDER the Old Covenant BEFORE the New Covenant does NOT prove that Christians must keep the weekly Sabbath DAY by RESTING on ANY DAY of the week. Now this INCLUDES resting on the seventh DAY because resting on the seventh DAY of the WEEK is a SHADOW pointing to resting IN Jesus and also the true Seventh 1000 year long day in the world to come. So then, of the remaining 60 times that the word “Sabbath” is found in the New Testament it is found 9 times in the book of Acts and 1 time in Colossians 2:16. And out of the 9 times that the word “Sabbath” is found in the book of Acts, 7 of those times we read where Paul went into a synagogue to PREACH the gospel and 1 time the women were praying down by the river on the Sabbath day. And again, just because Saturday is called the Sabbath day by the Jewish Christians who wrote the New Testament does NOT prove that the Christians, obeying the TRUE gospel of Jesus Christ in the first century church, kept the weekly Sabbath DAY as a DAY of REST. To “INTERPRET” the disciples of Jesus just going into a synagogue on a Sabbath day to PREACH the gospel to mean that they were KEEPING the Sabbath would be like saying that Christians who attend a church meeting at the Kingdom Hall to preach the TRUE Gospel to the Jehovah’s Witnesses BELIEVE and OBEY what the Jehovah’s Witnesses teach and obey. So that only leaves TWO times left, 1 time in Acts 1:12 and the other time on Colossians 2:16. In Acts 1:12 we read that it was a Sabbath day’s journey from Mount of Olive back to the city of Jerusalem. A Sabbath day’s journey is about two miles. This verse has NOTHING to do with KEEPING the Sabbath day because the day the Jesus ascended into heaven was on a THURSDAY. For you see, Jesus showed himself alive for forty days which included the day that Jesus was resurrected from the dead. And when you count forty days from Sunday you end up on a THURSDAY that the disciples walked a Sabbath day’s journey back to Jerusalem. And that only leaves one time that the Sabbath is mentioned in the New Testament which is in Colossians 2:16 which I cover in-depth in the study called Dd-3. What COLOSSIANS 2:14-17 TRULY MEAN? Also, please read the studies Dd-2. Is SABBATH keeping in the NEW TESTAMENT? and Dd-12. Why Only NINE of the TEN Commandments Let us move on to argument number 50.
ARGUMENT FOR THE SABBATH #50.
There was never any dispute between the Christians and the Jews as to which day was the “SABBATH DAY”. This is absolute proof that Christians observed the SAME day of the week, which the JEWS observed, the SEVENTH DAY which has always been the SABBATH day and will always remain the Sabbath day.
To ME, this is the most ridiculous argument thus far. How does the sound Biblical FACT that the Old Testament clearly teaches that the Sabbath day is the SEVENTH day of the week supposed to prove that the first century Christians KEPT the weekly Sabbath DAY as a DAY of REST? Clearly, the Apostle Paul did NOT keep the Sabbath DAY because Paul taught AGAINST the keeping of ANY DAYS. We have already covered Romans 14:5 where Paul clearly teaches us that we are NOT to esteem ANY day above any other day and that we are to esteem EVERY day the SAME. And we have already covered Paul being if fear for the Christians who desired to be under the law to keep a DAY in Galatians 4:10-31. And I will cover more on why Paul did NOT keep the weekly Sabbath day under argument #54 in part 3 of this study. You can also read the studies called Dd-4. So then, this concludes part 2 of this three part study on the 60 argument for the Sabbath we covered 30 arguments which, in truth, were actually only 11 arguments. So then, out of the first 50 of the 60 so-called different arguments for the Sabbath there were only a FEW arguments that can actually be called different arguments. And again, to me, that making it SEEM as if there are more argument that there actually are is deceptive teaching by the seventh DAY of the WEEK Sabbath-keeping Christians.
