G-15. WHY I PREFER THE KING JAMES BIBLE?

SPELLING EDITED

G-15. WHY I PREFER THE KINGS JAMES BIBLE!

When I first became a Christian I was using a Bible that I borrowed from my girlfriend whom I married a few months after I accepted Jesus as my Lord and savior. After just a week or two reading from my girlfriend's grandmother's Bible that she loaned me I went to the bookstore to buy a Bible of my own. I ended up coming home with a very inexpensive awards Bible. For my first Bible, I went with as cheap as possible for a number of reasons. One reason is that I did not have a lot of money. Number two is because I wanted to write and underline things that I read. And to be honest number three I was not sure if I would keep on reading the Bible, because I was still searching to see if Christianity was true or not.

Once I made the decision that God's word is the TRUTH I had almost worn out this inexpensive award Bible that I had been using and I was ready to invest in a more expensive Bible. By this time I had learned that there were MORE than just one translation and I wanted to know which translation was the best, so I went to my pastor and here is the advice that he gave to me. He said, “No translation is without its errors, but for me, I have found that while the King James Version of the Bible may have its errors I believe that it has FEWER errors than the other translations from which we have to choose.”

And to you my dear brothers and sisters in the Lord I give to YOU this SAME advice. I have been reading the King James Version for over thirty years now and I have come across some disturbing differences between the King James Version or translation of the Bible and the more modern translations. The purpose of this study in God's word of TRUTH, the Holy Bible, is to point out some of these differences to YOU, the reader, to help you be aware of these differences so that you will NOT be DECEIVED in these last days.

It is a common MISCONCEPTION that all translated versions of the Bible say the SAME thing. This simply is NOT the case, because clearly, all translations do NOT say the SAME thing. It may be true that the GENERAL OVERALL message is the same, but there are in fact many DIFFERENCES that can and DO cause controversy among believers. So then, WHICH translation should YOU, my dear brothers and sisters in the Lord CHOOSE to read? For you see, ultimately, the CHOICE is YOURS to make. However, I would like you to make that choice based upon more than I like the way this translation reads.

Please consider other things in our lives, IF it was your GOAL to get in shape PHYSICALLY and you were given several choices as to which exercises to use, would you choose the EASIEST just because it is the easiest? How about our eating habits? IF it was your GOAL to IMPROVE your health, would your choice on which foods to eat be based upon simply whether or not you LIKE a certain food or not? I hope you can see where I am going with this kind of logic. IF our GOAL is to better our self SPIRITUALLY, then we must NOT base our choices simply on whether or not we LIKE it.

Being a DISCIPLE of Jesus takes DISCIPLINE! Sometimes the EASIEST is not always the BEST. Sometimes that which we LIKE is often what is most harmful to us.

I will admit that reading old English in the King James Version was not easy for me at first. I had to ask my fellow brothers and sisters what all these old English words like thee and thou meant, but after a while, you just automatically substitute the English words you and your in their place when you are reading. So do not become discouraged when you read from the King James Version of the Bible. I promise you that if you will stick with it these old English words will become second nature to you.

With that being said, let us begin this study in God's word to see some of the major differences between the King James Version and some of the modern translations of the Bible.

Please read Matthew 18:11 from the (KJV)

“For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost”

Now this ENTIRE verse is completely OMITTED from the New International Version (NIV). There simply is NO verse 11. It just SKIPS from verse 10 to verse 12.

This verse is also OMITTED from several other MODERN translations such as the Bible in Basic English (BBE), the New Living Translation (NLT), the New Century Version (NCV), the New Revised Standard (NRS), the Revised Standard Version (RSV) has the words [no text] in place of verse 11 and some other modern translations go ahead and include the verse in their translation but they place this verse in brackets to show that it was not in the manuscript from which this version was translated, which raises the question WHY? Why supposedly ADD words to the Bible if you TRULY believe that the manuscript you are translating from is, in fact, a RELIABLE and UNCORRUPTED manuscript?

Here is another OMISSION from the WORD of TRUTH that was the one that really got me to begin searching these other translations for other differences. I had noticed other differences before in just casually reading the Bible but simply dismissed them as not being that important to the CORE message of the whole word of God. However, today when I heard a sermon at the church I attend, I was disturbed at the direction it was leading, which is basically ONCE SAVED then ALWAYS SAVED. In that, once a person accepts Jesus as their savior, then from that moment on that person can NEVER EVER LOSE their salvation, they are ETERNALLY SAVED no matter what. However, this is NOT what the whole word of God teaches us my dear brothers and sisters in the Lord. Anyone of us can be DECEIVED by the deceitfulness of sin and fall away from God and die in that sinful state and thereby LOSE out on obtaining ETERNAL LIFE in the world to come. This is WHY the Bible continually WARNS us to endure unto the end. If you desire a deeper understanding of this subject I suggest you read the in-depth study entitled IS ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED BIBLICAL? But for now, let me give you that verse of scripture that caused this disturbance in me to search out the TRUTH for myself.

Please read Romans 8:1 from the King James Version, which says,

“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, WHO walk NOT after the flesh, but (WHO DO WALK) after the Spirit.”

I want to draw your attention to the TRUTH of God's word that CLEARLY teaches us that there is a CONDITION that MUST, WITHOUT FAIL, be MET by US who have already become Christians in order that there be NO CONDEMNATION to us who are believers in Jesus Christ. The clause that FOLLOWS the statement of truth that there is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus CLEARLY teaches us that WE must DO something in order for us to enjoy this fruit of not having any condemnation. You see my dear brothers and sisters in the Lord, the word “WHO” teaches us that ONLY those of us WHO obey the leading of the Holy Spirit or WHO do NOT obey the flesh but RATHER, ONLY WE WHO walk AFTER the Holy Spirit, shall be the ones WHO do NOT have any condemnation.

Just stop and THINK this through for YOURSELF. Whenever you are TEMPTED to commit sin and you YIELD yourself to GIVE IN to this temptation to sin that the Holy Spirit is leading you NOT to give into, then do you or do you not experience condemnation until you REPENT of that sin? I can certainly tell you that I myself when I give in to temptation and SIN, then I most certainly experience CONDEMNATION. With that being said please read this same verse of scripture found in

Romans 8:1 from the New International Version (NIV).

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,”

Here in this MODERN translation of the Bible, we see that the last part of the verse is OMITTED. Here in the NIV, they place a comma but in many of the MODERN translation, they put a period. Either way by OMITTING this part of the verse it has led some to believe that ONCE you accept Jesus as your savior then you are forever IN Christ Jesus and therefore are forever free from any and all condemnation. In other words, there are absolutely NO CONDITIONS that YOU as a believer must without fail DO in order to REMAIN IN Christ Jesus and to KEEP on enjoying the blessing of having NO CONDEMNATION.

But the TRUTH of the matter is that the whole word of God CLEARLY teaches us that SIN SEPARATES us from God and that if we DIE, in that state of being in SIN then we shall NOT obtain ETERNAL LIFE in the world to come. SO, I ask you my dear brothers and sisters in the Lord, which translation of the word of TRUTH would you want to place the saving of your soul? The translation that gives you the WHOLE word of God or those translations that TAKE AWAY from the word of TRUTH?

The Bible in Basic English (BBE) states this,

“For this cause, those who are in Christ Jesus will not be judged as sinners.”

To ME this verse can easily be WRONGLY interpreted as ONCE a person accepts Jesus as their personal savior, then they will NOT be judged as SINNERS even when they are living in sin. Again, the teaching of ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED NO MATTER WHAT can easily be seen with some of these MODERN translations of the Bible. So, be NOT DECEIVED by some of these MODERN translations my dear brothers and sisters in the Lord.

Please read Mark 10:21 which teaches us that we must take up the cross and follow Jesus. In other words, when following Jesus, there is a CROSS for us to bare.

Mark 10:21 (KJV).

“Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.”

Now when I read this verse I automatically read the Old English in the way we read today. This is why in my studies I change the Old English words to the way we would read them today. So then, this verse would read in today's English as follows:

Mark 10:21 (KJV with the Old English CHANGED to modern English showing you the changes)

“Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou (you) lackest (lack): go thy (your) way, sell whatsoever thou (you) hast (have), and give to the poor, and thou (you) shalt (shall) have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.”

Now one more time without using the Old English words at all.

Mark 10:21 KJV with changes to modern English.

“Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing you lack: go your way, sell whatsoever you have and give to the poor, and you shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.”

The point I want to make to you here is that it is NOT all that difficult to UNDERSTAND the Old English style of writing IF you will give it half a chance. I really think some Christians do not give the King James Version much of a chance because of what other Christians say in a negative way. And some of those Christian may read the Bible, but I personally believe that they do not read and STUDY. That is just my own observation that I have made through the years. So please do not take offense if you prefer other translations over the King James Version because none is intended. I simply want to stress to you, the reader, NOT to base your decision on which translation your choose to read based upon the OPINIONS of others. I want you to base your decision upon the FACTS, that to me, clearly show that the word of TRUTH has been TAKEN AWAY from with some of these MODERN translations of the Bible. What I mean by this is that the truth is sometimes clouded and at times flat our omitted or even changed from what the ORIGINAL text actually says by some modern translations.

Please read this same verse in Mark 10:21 from the New International Version (NIV) which LEAVES out the phrase “take up the cross”, which may lead some to believe that there is nothing we have to bear when we follow Jesus. In other words, some translations wrongly give the impression that all your troubles are gone when you come to Jesus, no more trails, nothing to DO, but believe that Jesus took your place and paid the price for the punishment of all your sins, past, present and future. Again, this is a FALSE teaching that wrongly teaches that of ONCE you come to Jesus, then you are FOREVER SAVED and can NEVER EVER LOSE your salvation NO MATTER WHAT. And thus, according to them and some modern translations of the Bible, there is absolutely NO CROSS to TAKE UP while you are following Jesus.

Please read Mark 10:21 from the NIV translation.

“Jesus looked at him and loved him."One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

Can you not see my dear brothers and sisters in the Lord, that by OMITTING even this little phrase from the word of TRUTH that it TAKES AWAY from the TRUE meaning of the WHOLE word of Almighty God. Can you not see that the WHOLE word is NOT being GIVEN to you is these MODERN translations of God's word.

If you are still not convinced I would like you, the reader, to CLOSELY consider the words of Jesus when he is being tempted by the devil in the wilderness for forty days and afterward he was hungry and the devil tempted him to change some rocks into BREAD. Most of you probably remember the story without reading it, but I will give you the verses to read leaving off the very last phrase for you to fill in by your MEMORY. Now, if you are able to recall the words of Jesus by MEMORY, then my point will be proven. And if you are NOT able to have ever remembered reading these words, then my point will still be proven.

Please read Luke 4:1-4.

“And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

2. Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.

3. And the devil said unto him, If you be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made BREAD.

4. And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread ALONE,....(followed by six words, do you remember these six words?)

Were you able to remember those six little words of Jesus that followed the “IT IS WRITTEN, That man shall NOT live by BREAD ALONE,”

I am sure that most of you can remember. And I am sure you have heard your pastor use this passage of scripture at some time. But if you honestly can not remember, then most likely it is because you are reading from one of the MODERN translations, so please keep reading and I will give you the REST of the WORD of TRUTH from the King James Version of the Bible.

Here is Luke 4:1-4 again WITH those six missing words from the modern translations.

4. And Jesus answered him, saying, IT IS WRITTEN, That man shall NOT live by BREAD ALONE, but by every word of God.”

Now, to ME, this little tiny phase that has been TAKEN OUT of the WORD of TRUTH by these MODERN translations is a VERY IMPORTANT FEW simple WORDS to LEAVE OUT of the Bible. Especially after seeing that Jesus himself declared IT IS WRITTEN that man shall LIVE by EVERY WORD of Almighty God and NOT simply by the words that MAN decides are important or not.

Here is this same verse found in Luke 4:4 from some of the MODERN translations so that you can see that they CLEARLY do NOT give you EVERY WORD of Almighty God by which you shall LIVE or more precisely by which you shall obtain ETERNAL LIFE in the world to come.

Luke 4:4 (NIV)

“Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man does NOT live on bread ALONE.’”

Luke 4:4 (NLT)

“But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People NEED MORE than bread for their life.’”

Luke 4:4 (GNT).

“But Jesus answered, “The scripture says, ‘Human beings CANNOT LIVE on bread ALONE.’”

Luke 4:4 (NCV).

“Jesus answered, “It is written in the Scriptures: ‘A person does NOT live by eating ONLY bread.’”

Luke 4:4 (NASB).

“And Jesus answered him, “It is written, 'MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE.’”

WHY would Jesus speak just these words ONLY and NOT tell us WHAT we SHALL live by other than bread? Think this THROUGH for yourself. IF these MODERN translations were, in fact, the true word of God and the King James Version is the translation that is supposedly the CORRUPT translation, then WHY would Jesus simply tell us that man does NOT LIVE by BREAD ALONE and then NOT give us HOW we shall LIVE, seeing that IT IS WRITTEN that man shall NOT LIVE by BREAD ALONE?

Well, let us go to WHERE Jesus quoted the Old Testament and SEE exactly WHAT is WRITTEN. The cross-reference in my King James study Bible says that Jesus is quoting Deuteronomy 8:3.

Deuteronomy 8:3.

“And he humbled you, and suffered you to hunger, and fed you with manna, which you knew not, neither did your fathers know; that he might make you know that man does NOT live by BREAD ONLY, but by EVERY WORD that proceeds out of the mouth of the LORD does man live.”

Now let us read this same verse from some of the MODERN translations.

Deuteronomy 8:3 (NIV).

“He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach you that man does NOT live on bread ALONE but on EVERY WORD that comes from the mouth of the LORD.”

Now, I do not mean to be crude or rude, but to ME this is a “BIG OOPPS” so to speak. How could this just be an OVERSIGHT, if you will, that these MODERN translators OVERLOOKED? Think about this for a moment, WHY would ALL these different translators or all these different modern translations purposely LEAVE OUT the last part of IT IS WRITTEN in the WORD of God when it IS CLEARLY WRITTEN in Deuteronomy 8:3? Jesus himself was QUOTING from Deuteronomy 8:3 to Satan, the Devil showing us how to resist and OVERCOME the Devil when we are being TEMPTED to sin. So, to ME, it is clear that Satan is the god of this world and he does NOT want the child of God to be armed with the SWORD of the Spirit, which is the WORD of God. To me, it is clear that Satan is using men of God to DILUTE the word of God by these MODERN translations that LEAVE OUT words here and there which SEEM insignificant to some, but in TRUTH, some of thhes ommissions of God's word are VITAL to obtain ETERNAL LIFE in the world to come.

Here is Deuteronomy 8:3 from the Good News translation.

“He made you go hungry, and then he gave you manna to eat, food that you and your ancestors had never eaten before. He did this to teach you that you must NOT DEPEND on BREAD ALONE to sustain you, BUT on everything that the Lord SAYS.”

Now, the word “WORD” is not actually in the Hebrew text here in Deuteronomy 8:3, but was added by the TRANSLATORS to give CLARITY to this verse of scripture. In my King James study Bible, the word “WORD” is in italics to SHOW to the reader that it is NOT in the original text. To ME, this speaks of an HONEST translation that is NOT trying to DECEIVE its readers. I say this because some of you may not be aware of this fact and some may try to deceive you by telling you that I am not being completely honest with you. The TRUTH of the matter is that IF I would leave anything out of this study in God's word it is NOT because I am trying to DECEIVE you, my dear brothers and sisters in the Lord, but simply that I perhaps did not think to tell you or I made the assumption that you already knew these things. The point that I am trying to make is that this study, that I am writing, is not a twenty-volume complete exhaustive study in God's word. But rather this study is just an EYE OPENING study in God's word to HELP you search out for YOURSELF as to which translation is best for YOU to read and study. My prayer is that you CONSIDER what I write to you so that you will CONTINUE to search for the TRUTH of the WHOLE word of God. And HOW can you search the WHOLE word of God if you are reading and studying from a MODERN translation that LEAVES OUT part of God's word?

Now some who promote these NEWER translations say that they do NOT take away anything from the word of TRUTH, but rather it is the King James Version that ADDS to the word of God. Now, as I just stated, YES the King James Version does ADD words to the translation, but the King James Version also indicates which words are ADDED by putting them in ITALICS to let the reader KNOW that they were ADDED to help clarify the text in MOST cases. I EMPHASIZE MOST cases because there are some verses that I have come across where the King James Version has ADDED word but did NOT place those words in ITALICS. In other words, the King James TRANSLATION is not without any errors, but to ME, I have found fewer errors in the King James Version compared to the many errors in the modern translations.

So then, I ask YOU, the reader, to judge for yourself the words that are to SUPPOSEDLY have been ADDED by the King James Version of the Bible, but to ME appear to have been LEAF OUT by the MODERN translations of the Bible. Do these words distort the meaning of the text, or do these LACK of words take away from the meaning of the text? To be honest with YOURSELF does it not trouble you when you are reading one of these NEWER translations and you come upon a NUMBER of a verse and yet there is NO VERSE or NO WORDS following that NUMBER? Does this not raise a red flag to you? Or does it not bother you when others are reading from one of the OLDER translations that say something that does NOT APPEAR in your NEWER translation of the Bible? Do not these DIFFERENCES raise QUESTIONS within you my dear brothers and sisters in the Lord?

Perhaps you have NOT been made aware of just how MANY differences there are. If this is you, then I encourage you to keep reading this study in God's word. Please read Luke 9:54-56 from the authorized King James Version which teaches us that we should TRY the spirits to see whether or not they be of God or whether they be of Satan the Devil who comes NOT but for the steal, kill and destroy, and that Jesus did NOT come to kill and destroyed but rather Jesus came to bring LIFE and life MORE ABUNDANTLY.

Like 9:54-56.

“And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, will you that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?

55. But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, You know not what manner of spirit you are of. (Now ask yourself WHY? or HOW? How would we KNOW what SPIRIT we are of and whether or not this was the RIGHT thing to think about doing?)

56. FOR (Or because) the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.”

Now read this same passage of scripture from the New International version of the Bible which LEAVES out the words of Jesus which are bold letters that I have underlined as well. Here is what the modern translation LEAVE OUT of the Bible.

and said, You know not what manner of spirit you are of. (Now ask yourself WHY? or HOW? How would we KNOW what SPIRIT we are of and whether or not this was the RIGHT thing to think about doing?)

56. FOR (or because) the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them.

Here is another modern translation of this same passage of Scripture. Please notice that the bold unlined words above are left out of the Bible in these modern translations.

Luke 9:54-56 (NIV).

“When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked, “Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them?”

55. But Jesus turned and rebuked them,

56. And they went to another village.”

Again, in this modern translation, we see that Jesus simply REBUKED his disciples but never told them WHY he rebuked them. HOWEVER, in the King James Version we clearly see Jesus TEACHING us to TRY the spirits in order to KNOW if that voice or thought in our mind is of God or if it is of Satan, the Devil, by going on and telling us the following words that give us the REASON or the HOW we can KNOW the voice of God from the voice of Satan. This is what is left out of the modern translations.

You know not what manner of spirit you are of. FOR the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them.”

The word “FOR” also means BECAUSE. In other words, HOW are we supposed to KNOW whether or not we are being led by the WRONG spirit IF these very IMPORTANT words are TAKEN OUT of the WORD of TRUTH, the Holy Bible? My point is this, WHICH translation BEST teaches YOU, my dear brother and sisters in the Lord, the translation that gives you the WHOLE word of God by instructing you that when you get angry at another Christian because they will not RECEIVE what your church denomination has taught you was the TRUTH, then you are of the WRONG spirit?

OR do these modern translations that OMIT this vital teaching of HOW to discern the WRONG spirit hinder Christians from seeing that their anger is NOT being like Jesus who came NOT to destroy his fellow man but rather came to SAVE them?

Can you not see the danger of these modern translations that do NOT give us the WHOLE word of Almighty God? If not, then I implore you to keep on reading this study in God's word. Please read Luke 11:1-4 from the King James Version of the word of TRUTH, the Holy Bible, where Jesus himself clearly teaches us that we are to pray that GOD'S WILL be DONE in the Earth as it is in heaven and that we are to pray to be DELIVERED from EVIL.

Luke 11:1-4.

“And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, TEACH us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.

2. And he said unto them, When you pray, SAY, Our Father which is in heaven, Hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. YOUR WILL be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

3. Give us day by day our daily bread.

4. And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.”

And yet the modern translations, like the New International Version, do NOT teach us in this verse to address our prayers TO our HEAVENLY Father. Nor do these NEWER translations teach us to pray the WILL of Almighty God, our HEAVENLY Father, be DONE IN the Earth the same as his WILL is DONE in heaven. And even further, these modern translations leave out the teaching in this verse that we are to pray to God to DELIVER us from EVIL.

Now to ME, the BETTER translation is the King James Version, which teaches us to be specific on WHICH FATHER we are praying to because the Bible also teaches us that Satan was our father before we accepted Jesus as our savior. This may sound trivial to some Christians, but Satan is the ACCUSER of the brethren and he uses every little tactic to HINDER our prayers from being answered. For a deeper understanding on this subject of how your prayers are hindered and sometimes kept from being answered by the enemy Satan, the Devil, please read the study called “PRAYERS that get ANSWERED”.

Also, to ME personally, the BETTER translation is the one that teaches us to pray the WILL of Almighty God, the Father, to be done IN the Earth the SAME as his WILL is DONE in HEAVEN. For you see, this teaches us that it is NOT God's WILL for mankind to suffer SICKNESS and DISEASE. And yet these modern translations do NOT teach us this TRUTH in this passage of scripture. And as well, WHY would it be harmful to PRAY that God DELIVER us from EVIL since the word of God teaches us to flee and turn from EVIL? What I mean by this is WHY would the modern translation OMIT asking our Heavenly Father to deliver us from evil? I pray that you are seeing WHICH is the BETTER translation from which to read and study the word of Almighty God.

Even if you find it hard to get used to reading the King James Version I implore you to at least COMPARE the modern translation that you prefer using to the King James Version when you STUDY the word of God.

John 4:24-42 teaches us that Jesus is the CHRIST which means that Jesus is the ANOINTED ONE of Almighty God sent to be the MESSIAH or the savior of the world. HOWEVER, the word “Christ” is OMITTED in the modern translations. Please notice the placement of this VITAL word “Christ” and ask yourself WHY the modern translations OMIT the word “Christ” as you read the following passage of Scripture.

John 4:24-42.

“God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in SPIRIT and in TRUTH.

25. The woman said unto him, I know that Messiah comes, which is CALLED CHRIST (Again, the word Christ means the ANOINTED ONE or the ANOINTED OF God. And one of the meanings of anointed is to be given the power and the authority to do the will of Almighty God the Father. In other words,, Jesus was COMMISSION by God to do the will of the Father): when he is come, he will tell us all things.

26. Jesus said unto her, I that speak unto you am he.

27. And upon this came his disciples, and marveled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seek you? Or, Why talk you with her?

28. The woman then left her water pot, and went her way into the city, and said to the men,

29. Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the CHRIST? (The one sent or COMMISSIONED by God)

30. Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.

31. In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.

32. But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that you know not of.

33. Therefore said the disciples one to another, Has any man brought him ought to eat?

34. Jesus said unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

35. Say not you, There are yet four months, and then comes harvest? Behold , I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

36. And he that reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit unto life eternal: that both he that sows and he that reaps may rejoice together.

37. And herein is that saying true, One sows, and another reaps.

38. I sent you to reap that whereon you bestowed no labor: other men labored, and you are entered into their labors.

39. And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.

40. So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.

41. And many more believed because of his own word;

42. And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of your saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed THE CHRIST, the Savior of the world.”

Now to some Christians the OMITTING of the words THE CHRIST is trivial, but to me the teaching from God's word that Jesus was THE CHRIST or the ANOINTED ONE of Almighty God, the Father, is vitally important. For you see, it was Almighty God the Father that EMPOWERED Jesus to DO the mighty WORKS that Jesus did, INCLUDING living his life WITHOUT SIN. Can you not see that having the word Christ in this passage of Scripture is a VITAL teaching in the WORD of TRUTH? For you see, by KNOWING that Jesus was ANOINTED or EMPOWERED by God to overcome sin teaches us that WE TOO can live our lives WITHOUT SIN THROUGH the SAME Holy Spirit of Almighty God. But sadly some Christians have not been taught that Almighty God the Father empowered Jesus to present himself BLAMELESS before his God and Father.

The word “CHRIST” is found 555 times in the King James Version of the Bible and ONLY 500 times in the New International Version (NIV), which means that this TRUTH of Jesus being the ANOINTED ONE of Almighty God has been REMOVED 55 times in this modern translation of the Bible. So which translation leads people away from the TRUTH with some of its verses by OMITTING words like “CHRIST” the ANOINTED ONE of Almighty God?

John 16:16 says.

“A little while, and you shall not see me: and again, a little while, and you shall see me, because I go to the Father.”

The phrases “I go to the Father”, “I go unto the Father”, “I go to my Father”, and “because I go to the Father” are found 14 times in the King James Version of the Bible. And only ONE of these phrases is found just ONE time in the New International Version (NIV) of the Bible. Again, this may seem insignificant to some Christians, but to ME, I see this phrase as a VITAL teaching that the very REASON we are able to RECEIVE the gift of the Holy Spirit is BECAUSE Jesus ASCENDED to his Father. Whenever we see the word BECAUSE it usually shows us the REASON of something. So then, if this phrase “BECAUSE I go to the Father” is TAKEN OUT of the Bible, then it HURTS of hinders our understanding of the word of TRUTH. But on the other hand, let us ASSUME that these were ADDED. And IF these phrase were adding, then to ME, I do NOT see how they corrupt or TAKE AWAY from the TRUTH. In other words, these phrase only HELP us understand the word of God more clearly.

So again, I ask you, the reader and seeker of the truth, to judge for YOURSELF which translation makes the word of God CLEARER to understand? Obviously, putting aside the learning of the Old English. In other words. which question would you answer yes? For you see, Christians who like the modern translations claim that the King James Vesrion has ADDED to the word of God. And Christians who prefer the King James Version argue that the modern translations have TAKEN AWAY from the word of God. So again, which question will you answer with a YES?

Does the TAKING AWAY from the word of God teach us the in-depth TRUTH of God's word MORE CLEARLY?

OR does the so called ADDING to God's word make the teaching of God's word MORE CLEARER?

Be HONEST with yourself and ask yourself which translation gives you a MORE ACCURATE teaching of God's word, the King James Version which gives you MORE of God's word? Or the modern translations that TAKE AWAY MOST of the time, the verses that are supposedly ADDED to the King James Version? Please read Acts 8:36-38 that teaches if we BELIEVE that Jesus is the Son of God, then we can be baptized in water for the remission of sins.

Acts 8:36,38.

“And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what does hinder me to be baptized?

37. And Philip said, If you believe with all thine heart, you may. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

38. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.”

However, in the New International Version (NIV) the entire verse 37 is OMITTED from the word of TRUTH, the Holy Bible.

Here is Acts 8:36-38 from the New International Version (NIV).

“36. As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water. Why shouldn't I be baptized?”

38. And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him.”

The eunuch asked a question and NO answer is GIVEN to him. And one of them just tells the driver to stop and they both go down into the water to be baptized. There is NO CONFESSION of FAITH ever mentioned. There is NO REQUIREMENT to BELIEVE is TAUGHT to us in this verse in these MODERN translations. In other words, IF verses 37 was added to the original Greek text then it does NOT HARM the word of truth, but rather it AGREES with the WHOLE word of God. So then, wherever I see the omitting of an entire verse of scripture and the NUMBER is skipped as well, then it makes me wonder IF this was TRULY the correct translation. I mean WHY did the translators not NUMBER verse 38 as being verse 37 and continue on renumbering ALL the following verses IF the translators truly believe that the Greek manuscript that they use is the true correct manuscript? The only reason that I can think of is that they did NOT want to draw ATTENTION to the fact that this verse was OMITTED.

You see, IF the NUMBERING just continued on to MATCH the Bible translations that are translated from a different Greek manuscript, then it would be more evident that many more verses would NOT line up when other Christians were reading from the King James Version of the Bible. They would be saying, WHAT verse are you on anyway? And when they stopped to compare, then it would be more obvious that an entire verse was left out of their translation.

So again, I ask you WHICH translation BETTER teaches the TRUTH of the WHOLE word of God? The one that LEAVES OUT the part where we are TAUGHT to BELIEVE that Jesus is the Son of God before we are baptized in water? Or those translations that do NOT teach us this TRUTH in this verse? Let us move on to another verse.

Romans 13:9 teaches us that we should NOT bear FALSE witness. That is to say, IF you are reading from the King James Version of the Bible.

Romans 13:9.

“For this, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not kill, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, You shall not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

But if you are reading one of the MODERN translations, then the commandment of God NOT to bear FALSE witness is LEFT OUT. WHY? Why would the translators LEAVE OUT the COMMANDMENT NOT to bear FALSE witness? Here is this verse in Romans 13:9 from the New International Version or the NIV where I leave a big blank where I personally believe this phrase “You shall NOT bear FALSE witness” should be so that you can readily see a HOLE is the WHOLE word of God.

Romans 13:9 from the NIV.

“THE COMMANDMENTS, “Do not commit adultery,” “Do not murder,” “Do not steal,” “Do NOT BLANK” “Do not covet,” and whatever other commandments there may be, are summed up in this one rule: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

To me, this kind of makes one wonder if these NEWER translations are bearing FALSE witness by OMITTING words, phrases and entire verses from the word of TRUTH, the Holy Bible?

Moving on to the next verse, Colossians 1:14 teaches us that we have REDEMPTION from our sins THROUGH the shed BLOOD of Jesus, that is of course IF you are reading from the King James Version of the Bible.

Colossians 1:14.

“In whom we have redemption THROUGH his BLOOD, even the forgiveness of sins:”

But yet this TRUTH that it is THROUGH the shed BLOOD of Jesus is TAKEN OUT of the MODERN translations of the Bible. To Me, taking away from the vital TRUTH that is THROUGH the shed BLOOD of Jesus that we have REDEMPTION even out of on single verse is CORRUPTING the WORD of TRUTH.

Colossians 1:14 (NIV)

“In whom we have redemption, ________________________ the forgiveness of sins.”

Ask yourself WHY? Why TAKE OUT the teaching that the BLOOD of Jesus is the reason that we have REDEMPTION?

The word “BLOOD” is either OMITTED or CHANGED in the New International Version 91 times. Thankfully, the one here in Colossians is the only one I have found that pertains to the shed blood OF Jesus. But the other places are also connected with the shed but of sacrifices for the FORGIVENESS of SIN. So the, question becomes, “Will future translation REMOVE even MORE words from the Bible?” Will the shed blood of Jesus be downplayed even more than it already is in future Bible translations? Hopefully Christians will reject them if the come to pass.

Colossians 3:5,6 teaches us that as a CHILD of God we can be DISOBEDIENT CHILDREN of God. And, therefore, we are TAUGHT in the King James Version that the WRATH of God will ALSO come upon those DISOBEDIENT CHILDREN of God.

WHEREAS, in the NEWER translations, NO SUCH WARNING is given here in this verse of scripture. To ME this is a VITAL WARNING that has been OMITTED from the MODERN translations of the Bible.

Col 3:5,6 (KJV).

“Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

6. For which things' sake the WRATH of God comes on the CHILDREN of DISOBEDIENCE:”

Col 3:5,6 (NIV).

“Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.

6. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming _____________________________.”

The wrath of God is coming upon WHOM? Yes, we all know that the wrath of God will come upon NON-Christians. But what about Christians who turn back to living in a lifestyle of sin being DISOBEDIENT Children of God? Will the DISOBEDIENT children of God escape the wrath of God? You see my dear brothers and sisters in the Lord, there are some Christians sincerely believe that EVEN IF a CHILD of God DISOBEYS the COMMANDMENTS of God that they will NOT suffer the WRATH of God. In other words, some Christians wrongly believe that ONCE they ACCEPT Jesus as their savior, then they are ETERNALLY SAVED.  And according to those Christians, a true born again Christian can NEVER EVER LOSE their salvation EVEN IF they DISOBEY the COMMANDMENTS of God. And by REMOVING this CLEAR WARNING from the word of TRUTH, as the New International Version has done, it leads some to further this FALSE teaching of ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED.

So I myself have to wonder if there is an agenda behind these modern translations? Are these modern translations being made to better support certain church doctrines? And this is why I encourage my readers to COMPARE many different translations when studying the word of God. Let us move on to another verse. 1 Peter 1:22 teaches us that THROUGH the Holy Spirit of Almighty God we have OBEYED the TRUTH of God's word that has EMPOWERED us to LOVE one another in a SINCERE and GENUINE way.

1 Peter 1:22.

“Seeing you have purified your souls in OBEYING the TRUTH (HOW? How is it that we are ABLE to OBEY the TRUTH of God's word?) THROUGH the Spirit unto unfeigned (Or a SINCERE and GENUINE) love of the brethren, see that you love one another with a pure heart fervently:”

And yet this VITALLY IMPORTANT phrase that teaches us that it is “THROUGH the power of the Holy Spirit that EMPOWERS us” to SINCERELY and GENUINELY LOVE one another with a PURE heart with great passion. So, again I ask you, WHICH translation teaches you the TRUTH of the WHOLE word of Almighty God” Is it the modern translations that LEAVES OUT words, phrases, and even entire verses?Or is it the older translations like the King James Version and EARLIER translations that SUPPOSEDLY ADD words to the word of TRUTH?

For ME, I have found none of the words that were SUPPOSEDLY ADDED by the King James translation have diminished or corrupted the word of TRUTH. Please allow me to QUALIFY this statement by saying that in MOST cases the King James Version does not mislead Christians. I agree that there are SOME places in the King James Version that have been corrupted but they only seem to be biased toward the doctrine of the Trinity. I cover those places in the “A LIST OF STUDIES ON THE TRINITY”.

However, on the other hand, I have found where these words, phrases, and entire verses being TAKEN AWAY from the word of TRUTH have left some doubt in MY mind that these MODERN translations should be read with much CAUTION! And again, I implore my readers to COMPARE very carefully the modern translations to the King James Version when in doubt as to the TRUE meaning of a verse of scripture.

Now again, this is NOT to say that the King James Version is without any faults or errors. I am NOT dogmatically teaching to read the King James ONLY. I personally use several translations when I am studying the word of God. But those that have read some of my studies, it is clear to you that I prefer quoting from the King James Version in most instances, because I truly believe that this translations is the closest translation that we have to the original language. I also us this online Interlinear word for word LITERAL translation that was translated from the SAME Greek manuscript from which the King James Version was translated.

1 John 4:1-4 teaches us that those who believe and teach that Jesus did NOT come in the FLESH have a spirit of ANTICHRIST. The word “ANTICHRIST” is from TWO words, the word ANTI, which means AGAINST and the word CHRIST, which means the ANOINTING or the ANOINTED ONE. So then, the word “ANTICHRIST” means those AGAINST the teaching that Jesus was the ANOINTED ONE of Almighty God.

1 John 4:1-4.

“Beloved, believe NOT EVERY spirit, but TRY the spirits whether they are of God (WHY? Why test the teachings of others?): BECAUSE many FALSE prophets are gone out into the world.

2. Hereby KNOW you the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ IS come in the FLESH is of God:

3. And every spirit that confesses NOT that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is NOT of God: and THIS (Speaking of hose Christians that teach the ANOINTING of Jesus is NOT come in the FLESH) is that spirit of antichrist, whereof you have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.”

Now in the New International Version (NIV) this phrase “CHRIST is come in the FLESH’ that IDENTIFIES FALSE TEACHERS is REMOVED from the word of TRUTH.

1 John 4:1-3 (NIV).

“Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

2. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,

3. But every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus ___________________ is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.”

To ME this OMISSION, of this phrase “CHRIST come in the flesh” is ANTICHRIST. Leaving OUT the TRUTH that the ANOINTING came and DWELT IN the flesh of Jesus disarms the child of God from being taught HOW to recognize the spirit of ERROR. One can BELIEVE in Jesus as their savior and still DENY or be AGAINST the teaching that it was THROUGH the ANOINTING of the Holy Spirit of Almighty God the Father that EMPOWERED Jesus to DO the mighty WORKS that he did while he was IN the FLESH. And THIS teaching that is AGAINST the CHRIST or is AGAINST the ANOINTING of Jesus as the MEANS by which he lived his life WITHOUT SIN, is the spirit of ANTICHRIST. So then, to ME the teaching that Jesus was FULLY Almighty God and fully a man at the same time is ANTICHRIST or anti-ANOINTING, which is NOT of God.

This verse does NOT say that this is a spirit of ANTI-JESUS, but rather says ANTICHRIST, which means AGAINST the teaching that Jesus is the CHRIST or against the teaching that Jesus is the ANOINTED ONE of Almighty God, the Father. Keep in mind that this word “CHRIST” is OMITTED 55 times in these MODERN translations of the Bible.

There are 17 whole verses that have been omitted in the modern translations. And one of those verse, I myself, personally believe could cause some Christians to LOSE their salvation. Mark 11:26 in the King James Version of the Bible teaches us that we MUST FORGIVE others of their trespasses against us in order that our heavenly Father will forgive US of our trespasses or sins. In other words, WE MUST forgive others in order to be FORGIVEN. To me this is a serious verse to LEAVE OUT of God's word of TRUTH.

Mark 11:26.

BUT if you do NOT forgive, NEITHER will your Father which is in heaven forgive YOUR trespasses.”

And yet this vitally important verse is left completely out of the New International Version (NIV), the New Living Translation (NLT), the Revised Standard Version (RSV), the New Revised Standard (NRS), the New Century Version (NCV), the Bible in Basic English (BBE) and other Newer Translation of the Bible.

Now we know that God is NOT the author of confusion to have preserved TWO Bibles. So then, either the word of TRUTH has been ADDED to or some very import words have been TAKEN AWAY from the word of TRUTH. I leave it to YOU, the reader and seeker of the truth, to decide which has taken place. But for ME, personally, if I were to choose incorrectly, by making the choice to choose the King James Version of the Bible, then for ME, I had rather error on the side of having more words to CLARIFY the meaning of the scriptures than to have some very important words REMOVED from the Bible.

I have said all of this so that you, my dear brothers and sisters in the Lord, are at least AWARE of SOME of the MANY DIFFERENCES between the translations of the Bible. For you see, verses like the one in Mark 11:26 that we just looked at and the one in Romans 8:1 that teaches us that ONLY those who WALK in OBEDIENCE to the Holy Spirit are FREE from condemnation. These are very dangerous OMISSIONS from the word of TRUTH that could cause some to LOSE their salvation. One MODERN translation words Romans 8:1 in such a way that it may lead some to believe that once a person accepts Jesus, as the Lord and savior, then they will NEVER be judged as a SINNER ever again. In other words, once a person accepts Jesus then they can NEVER EVER LOSE their salvation NO MATTER if they go back to their LIFESTYLE of SIN and DIE while in this state of SIN. Please read the Bible in Basic English (BBE) which to me could lead some to LOSE their salvation.

Romans 8:1 (BBE).

“For this cause those who are in Christ Jesus will NOT be judged as SINNERS.”

Now, this statement is true so long as one REMAINS IN Christ Jesus by keeping SIN out of their life. And IF they do fall and sin then they must REPENT of their sin in order to be ABIDING IN Christ Jesus. For you see, the Bible teaches us that SIN SEPARATES us from God, as long as we are living IN sin. In other words, when we are IN sin, then we are NOT IN Christ Jesus. And we are going to be JUDGED by what state we are IN when we die or when Jesus returns.

Therefore, IF we are to be found faithful and we are IN Christ Jesus when we die or when Jesus returns, then we shall NOT be judged as SINNERS. However, IF one were NOT to be found faithful because they had SIN in their life when they died or when Jesus returns, then that person WILL be JUDGED as a SINNER, because they were IN SIN when they died or when Jesus returns. Please read the study “IS ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED BIBLICAL?”

Now that you are aware of the DIFFERENCES between the many translations of the Bible, I want to make you aware that the King James Version also has some issues with how the translators chose to translated some words.

For you see, English speakers have passive and active verbs. We say, “Mark buys a book” or “The book was bought by Mark.” This English construction is reflected in the King James Version. But the Aramaic and Semitic languages have another kind of verb which implies ALLOWING something to happen. For example, in the King James Version, we may read passages where God is speaking such as, “I will put on you the diseases of Egypt.”

However, the Bible of the Eastern Church says, “I will ALLOW the diseases of Egypt to fall upon you.”

So then, when we read this verse in CONTEXT we can see that the only reason God ALLOWS these diseases to be put upon his children is BECAUSE they did NOT OBEY his commandments. So in this case the King James translation can be MISLEADING Christians to wrong believe that God makes people sick and gives people diseases.

We can see somewhat the same thing in the Lord's Prayer. The King James Version reads, “Lead us not into temptation.”

However, in the Eastern text it reads, “Don't ALLOW us to be tempted.”

You may have already known this, but I thought I would point it out in case you did not know, because in the King James Version kind of sounds like God LEADS us into temptation if we do not pray and ask him NOT to lead us into temptation. And in the Old Testament it sounds as if God puts or places sickness and disease upon his own people, but in reality God permits or ALLOWS the enemy to OPPRESS his people with sickness and disease if they are DISOBEDIENT to his commandments. This is another study in and of itself. If you desire a deeper understanding on WHY it SEEMS that God heals some people and not others please read the following studies under the heading “DIVINE HEALING”

I also want to point out that the King James translation, as well as the modern translations, ADD words for CLARITY and in MOST cases the adding of those words does NOT change the INTENDED MEANING of those verses. However, there are SOME case is almost all translations that have ADDED the word “THING” is the phrase “ALL THINGS” when the correct translation should have been translated as “ALL” or as “THE ALL” WITHOUT the added word THINGS. Please read the study “GOD’S NEW CREATION CREATED IN JESUS CHRIST” and studies under the heading “WAS JESUS CREATED?”

Now, to be fair to other translations, my readers should know that the King James Version was not translated from one SINGLE manuscript. Here is a quote from a website on this subject of how the King James Version came to be.

In this connection, it is worth noting that the translators of the King James Version did not follow exclusively any single printed edition of the New Testament in Greek. The edition most closely followed by them was Beza's edition of 1598, but they departed from this edition for the reading in some other published Greek text at least 170 times, and in at least 60 places, the KJV translators abandoned all then-existing printed editions of the Greek New Testament, choosing instead to follow precisely the reading in the Latin Vulgate version. (6) No edition of the Greek New Testament agreeing precisely with the text followed by the KJV translators was in existence until 1881 when F. H. A. Scrivener produced such an edition (though even it differs from the King James Version in a very few places, e.g. Acts 19:20). It is Scrivener's 1881 text which was reprinted by the Trinitarian Bible Society in 1976. This text does not conform exactly to any of the historic texts dating from the Reformation period and known collectively as the textus receptus.

May God bless you richly as you continue seeking the TRUTH of the WHOLE word of God.

Your brother in our Lord Jesus Christ,

Brother Mark.
